>How good is the new player experience?
I wouldn't say it's bad despite what some people say, the worst part of the game is that a lot of the older content is quite dated and they haven't done all that much to make it feel fresh. The primary appeal of the game is the main storyline, especially the nasu-written chapters which are still good as always (Camelot, Babylonia, Solomon, Seraph, Lostbelt 6, and Lostbelt 7), you can easily enjoy them today as long as you don't mind a fuckton of reading. The non-nasu written chapters range from kinda bad to actually pretty good, but unfortunately everything before Camelot is kinda poopy
>How good is the F2P experience?
It's a very easy game for F2P. (almost too easy if you make excessive use of blue cubes and command spells) The worst part for a f2p is that the rates are kinda bad but a new player has access to a lot of SQ
>Also is there literally any way to get characters from Nasu stuff I like (Arc, Ryougi) anymore or am I correct in assuming they're super gone.
Shiki (assassin) was just added to the evocation shop which means you can grab her at any time for free if you collect a few evocation shop mats which is easy
For Arc and Shiki (saber) you just need to wait for their next rateup
>I'm basically just looking for a decent timewaster
It's not a terrible time waster but I would probably advise reading Mahoyo and Tsukihime first if you haven't already as you don't have to trudge through anything to get to good stuff like you do with FGO
