Even though I get that for some magical reason the cameras cannot capture the stars while some other illuminated object is in view, I don't understand why no one took a picture of just the Milky Way, pointing the camera up and/or way of all the reflecting surfaces on the Moon.
There's no way the space was totally dark if the night sky on Earth without light pollution looks like that. On the moon there is no atmosphere to interfere. Did any of the astronauts mention about the stars and stuff, or did they just say it was totally dark.
