All gachas run on fanfiction. They give each individual character so little attention/development before dumping them forever that they're basically blank canvases for any tangentially related traits you want to staple on. Genshin/HSR/hoyoslop in general is especially guilty of this. Characters like Kokomi are basically 100% fanfiction because they wasted their entire on-screen time dumping exposition and proper nouns.
