Did you ever hear the legend of the wandering square of Studenetsky?
>No.
I thought not. It's not a story your tactics book would tell you. It's an endgame legend. There was a pawn so many files removed from another pawn, he could use the distance between himself and the other pawn to distract the enemy king and... create a new queen. He had such a knowledge of the endgame, he could even keep the ones he cared about... from dying.
>He could actually, save pawns from death?
The rule of the square is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be... unnatural.
>What happened to him?
He became so powerful, the only thing he was afraid of was using his power, which eventually-- because he did. Unfortunately he taught the other pawn everything he knew. Then the other pawn let him be captured as a diversion while he promoted. Ironic. He could save others from death, but not himself.
>Is it possible to learn this power?
Not from a tactics book.
