The girls are selfish bitches but ultimately you need 'em, and Garterbelt's idea of a "perfect boys' night out" was something stupid & risky that ultimately didn't pay off (exactly what a dude would go for!), except for the angel boys who have otherworldly luck. Longest Bitch Yard was about embracing cooperation over intrasexual competition. Episodes like Cat Fight Club & Homecoming are absolutely focused around observing humanity & delivering the results of that observation in a cartoony way, not "media critique". The way Panty & Stocking's apocalyptic bitch fight was handled was genius and Brief's self-doubting neuroticism was absolutely spot-on, coming from a self-doubting neurotic nerd. Episodes like Diet Syndome & Ghost: The Phantom of Daten City, absolutely based around observance of human traits.

Panty & Stocking is neither about "media commentary" nor about political activism - it's primarily a fun cartoon. And what are fun cartoons fueled by, if not an observance & exaggeration of human traits.

I just wouldn't call it B tier since the Corset monologue was my only issue & the rest was so good that it made up for it. The idea of their kaiju forms being "fake" and their "real" selves being inside makes no logical sense (especially for Panty) but it made perfect sense not only in a Mao Dante or Mazinger sense but also emotionally. "STOP FUCKING HIDING AND COME ON OUT, STOCKING" that was so fucking good. Like the giant forms & that whole apocalyptic battle just represented their goofy petty anger and as soon as they got that out of their systems they were like two little kids having a dumbass fight, immediately getting along like nothing happened.

Ep 1 blew my mind since I completely expected the show to be a bunch of old guys trying to relive their glory days but nope it was exactly the kinda stuff that made post-Eva Gainax good. Even the Sushio animation was on point.
