really, I think it's very thoughtfully designed, moreso the longer I play. Like the skill three for example, just the layout of the nodes and the way you upgrade weapons is so optimized to actual usage by the player. Normally in these games I will start with one weapon like the saw cleaver or claymore and cautiously play most of the game with it / its type; thus not experiencing a big chunk of the gameplay (save it for NG+ or replays). But in wuchang I am using everything of at least 2 weapons because otherwise is just wasteful, and this looks badass because you have transform attacks to use both a main weapon and a sidearm and constantly respecc'ing to use all the skill tree depending on the boss / area. And I am changing what the 2 weapons are sometimes, on the first play
Almost everything else is similarly thoughtful in the context of a game obeying the soulslike formula. Level design. There were some dumb things like pic related but generally its great, GOTY in my opinion but I didnt play E33 because I dont think I can get into turn based.
I know its a copy of souls but at this point that's like saying fighting games are a copy of Street Fighter 2; it's not that much of a con. The chinese team did a good job here. I am not a chinese agent or whatever you fags immediately think I am for not auto-shitting on anything chinese, I am just unbiased.
Like the last melee game I played that did combat that felt this good was honestly God of War 2018 and that wasnt really a soulslike, was more its own thing. This doesn't have the flaws people hate about GOW like the magnetizing or the camera, limited bosses / weapons, you cant shit on it for anything other than being unoriginal
This is the best Soulslike outside of FromSoftware, way better than Lies of P with its tryhard bosses / difficulty. And its a bit better than wukong, which also has its share of flaws. I have no idea about its controversies because I just pirated it on a whim, may buy later
