But the Yamnaya are considered more important than their Corded Ware husbands in PIE studies because they were located closer to the area where the ethnogenesis of the Western Steppe Herders occurred (Southern Ukraine, Russia, Northern Caucasus), we have more archaeological remains from them (Kurgans) and the Indo-Anatolian language was the first divergence from the Proto-Indo-European.
