I find it really disturbing and sad how terrible this board has become. I’ve been off an on /soc/ for over a decade now and I’ve genuinely never seen it this bad. Every thread is just full of mindless gooning, even the sfw ones. How did this happen? I met a lot of cool people here as recently as the covid era, when the number of users spiked, but now it seems like 99% of everyone posting is completely braindead. These type of people were always present but they used to be ridiculed and outnumbered by “normal” posters.

Is there an alternative that I missed the memo on? Side effect of dead internet theory? Massive cooldown timers disincentivizing people from posting?

There's a lot of reasons:
>more people that have their discord/other social media group chats and enclaves who don't need to be here
>many good/neutral people who have been burned and don't bother anymore
>lots of predators seeking people out to harm or use, often pretending to be different people and having many accounts. People who do notice will likely not point it out out of fear of retaliation from a dangerous person

It sucks, because it's anonymous and a simpler way of meeting people especially if you're privacy minded. For me personally, I'm extremely wary because I've come across a lot of malignant people after not having been here for a while.

There really needs to be a blue /soc/ but someone would have to take up the lead in campaigning for it, which I hypocritically would not want to do. If it's any consolation, I see more bullying of simp/gooner types in the SFW threads than I did a year or two ago.

I haven't been on soc in a long time, maybe 10 years idk. This board has a lot more spam now and some very obvious scam posts. It might be an optimal strategy for someone who just wants to sext to post their shitty ad in every thread regardless of whether it's on topic or not. I don't know if it's against the rules of the board to be off topic, but maybe it should be.

A good rule of thumb is you should block anyone that takes longer than 12 hours to respond to you, because there is a high chance they're playing stupid games and treating every possible friend as a congo line.

I dont use 4chan a lot, dont use any other board at all but I basically dont have anyone in my life thats why I sometimes come on here sometimes to maybe find someone to talk to but man it is rough. Ideally id want to find normal discord threads but so much of this board is just weird fetish/cuck shit or like that one pedophile making 17 threads daily acting like this board is his personal blog. Its almost impossible to use this board atp.

Common sense and oldfag 4chan culture just never took hold here. I mean it kinda did when this board was just an offshoot of the contact and hookup threads from /b/. But these days it's such fucking disgusting amounts of tourists. None of the men can do bare minimum research to make sure they're not talking to a 17 year old or catfish, so they're now everywhere as it's an easy and lucrative business. There are even discord groups of angry fat foids and their simps that go around catfishing to try and blackmail and expose people. Sane people won't post here for long unless they have no skeletons or have good opsec. I can post here one and get added by literally dozens and dozens of people obviously not who they're pretending to be, and it's so obvious I'm shocked they get away with it.

Mods also don't give a fuck. The same dozen retards ban evade constantly and nothing is ever done about it

It's a sad state of affairs. I've been reporting the most egregious off-topic posts and threads and calling out for a blue /soc/ and I urge others to do the same. We can self-police somewhat if mods and jannies won't do their fucking job.

It's mainly because of the lgbt invasion. The majority of threads are gay and troon threads. Endless duplicate dick threads. Men posting pics on girls-only camwhoring threads. Discord server spam. Bot spam. There is no room for normal straight people here anymore. And the root cause is the complete lack of anything regarding moderation. All these rulebreaking threads and posts and nothing is done about them.

What could be done to fix /soc/:
