yes, more 3s are shot than before. no, the game isnt a 3 point contest. it is still the hardest shot in the game.

They shoot so many 3s to open up for layups. So many teams will let each other score layups instead of 3s. The midrange part is what every contending team does, everyone ignores the midrange except the champions.

But then again, although in the finals it won't just be a 3 point spam like you pointed out, it will still be fairly repetitive, and we all know that if the team starts protecting the paint 3s will start raining again and it will be just like another regular season game.
