He's definitely the best player post Tiger.

Scottie is obviously the closest thing we've ever seen to Tiger, simply because of his iron distance control. That's how Tiger won all those tournaments, it wasn't driving, chipping or putting (tho all were great).

What keeps Scottie out of the Tiger and Jack conversation is his putting. He gives himself so many looks and just doesn't make enough of them. He checks nearly every box, but Tiger and Jack checked them all.

Tiger was dominant because he was the best putter by far. He was automatic at certain distances and was extremely clutch when he needed to be. His downfall over the past decade or so honestly is because his putting has been the worst part of his game.

But no it was an autistic obsession with distance control, Tiger was notorious for always hitting his approaches pin high. That was his whole deal. Dial in distance control. His putting gave him a bunch of birdies, but he was notoriously absent from leaderboards at easy courses where scoring was easier (and being above or below the pin wasn't penal).

Scottie right now is as good as Tiger was in his prime at distance control, and he's probably a more accurate driver. But if you can't consistently make 15 footers on psycho major greens, it doesn't much matter.
