I talked to an Amerilard who insisted the league was a top 10 league in the world and better than our division and close to France or Portugal. Then I looked at their continental results and bar one team, Mexico has dominated their champions league for the last twenty years. Do Amerilards actually believe your league is that great? I find it comparable to 2nd division sides but even their trash defending is preferable to what I see from your clubs. You cant spend your way to the top.

You're not entirely wrong, but there is a decent enough point spread within the league. The top teams are meaningfully better than the bottom and mid teams. It just changes year-to-year a great deal.

What argument did I blow up? In a given year there is a decent (though smaller relative to other leagues for sure) difference between the top teams and the bottom teams. The fact that there is turnover and bottom teams can rise and top teams can fall between seasons makes inter-league tournaments even worse for >us because teams qualify and then end up being mediocre the next year when the tournament takes place. That's not the same for other leagues, for the most part. They have two or three teams that are always at the top.
