How did it happen and why?

Did the Netherlands have a good team that year or was Spain just finished?

Anonymous Germany
6/20/2025, 3:37:34 PM No.149310755
Brazil rode a wave of emotion to the semis, they weren't that strong to begin with. Then they were missing two crucial players, Neymar and Thiago Silva, the latter being especially painful, since their defense was a mess. Also the game wasn't lopsided from the beginning, Brazil had some chances to take the lead, but couldn't convert. They might very well have won if they score first and thus could have kept their mental edge. After 0-2, they imploded, the emotions backfired and they became paralyzed with fear of failure. Then the collapse happened. Also Germany had a legit strong team that year, Argentina got away cheap with the 1-0 in the finals.

>Neymar and Thiago Silva are out
>macaco coach decides to play retarded high lines as a surprise
>backfires completely and concede 5 in the first half
>play more conservatively in the second half, still concede two more
Germans will say they "stopped trying" in the second half but if you actually watched match they kept attacking, germans never stop trying (you can see that with Bayern). If Brazil started playing defensively from the start it would have been 3-1 or 4-1 isntead of 7-1.

They weren't a particularly good team and rode their luck to get there, hell I thought they should've lost to Colombia but they somehow managed to score both times Colombia's dominance hit its peak knocking them back down
Injuries didn't help obviously but that's what took it from 3-4 goal win to 7-1

that defense against one of the best National teams of all time
and the team was already in low moral after losing Neymar
They had a fairly strong midfield but Bernard-Fred-Hulk has to be one of weakest brazil offenses ever

Jesus Christ I feel old now and I'm 24. But yeh I remember I was on holiday with my family in South East Asia we woke up around 1am to see this. I wasn't expecting Brazil to lose this badly. First goal came in okay that was against the run of play then 2-0 hits and then they just 3 goals in quick succession. I could not believe it. Neymar was injured and iirc Thiago Silva missed this match due to to two yellows

I never cared much about the NT, its just an excuse for assado and cerveza with friends.
That day was very fun, I was at a bar with friends and we were getting hammered, every goal we took a shot of cachaça. By the end the bar looked like a funeral except for us, the only people having fun.

Unironically its not even surprising when you look at the lineups. Brazil had T. Silva and Neymar out, we all knew Germany would win we just thought it would be like 4-0 and not 7-1. Tbqh nobody really cares about the 7-1 here anymore, team was shit and Germany is a giant, we seethe more at Belgium. Croatia not so much because we would lose to the argentinians and boy this would be 100x worse

It was a massive shock even though in hindsight that was the worst Brazilian team to ever play in the world cup. It got amplified even more by the fact that Brazil were the host nation, and their government had bankrupted themselves and their own people to build stadiums they couldn't afford, only to get clapped like that.

I watched it live in disbelief and remember telling my dad when he came in after half time asking for the score and he couldn't believe it.

Yeah thats why nobody really cared about by 2015 or so, team was just completely crap and the retard Felipão didnt even call up Miranda, Filipe Luis, Coutinho, Firmino. We basically had no chances because the coach was too old and retarded and besides Thiago silva and Neymar got out. By that point the Brazil team could as well be wearing a Bolivia jersey. We were way more hopeful in 2018 but De Bruyne ruined everything

Yes his team selection was atrocious. Playing Marcelo in defense was beyond suspect during that time period. He was like TAA is right now. I think there was pressure from Brazilians to play joga bonito because Duda in 2010 had made Brazil play boring defensive football but that's what you need to do to beat a team like Germany in the WC. Just pure stupidity all around tactically.
