A two year cycle is much better than a four year cycle - for clubs. This would fix a major problem of this new tournament, since four years can easily see a club change all key players and become pretty bad. It’s just not a reliable sportive event that way, since you can’t reasonably expect everyone to be on their high - despite past achievements of continental glory being what brought you there
The main remaining issue is the qualification. It’s somewhat glaring that some big names and strong teams are missing while Salzburg is in there. It is hard to justify that in total. You could argue the CL is a bit arbitrary as well in this regard, but this is a different beast
If you fix these two issues, you actually have an interesting format. But it would (still/even more) be a massive burden in terms of schedule. You will not end up with the very best of the football world either way. Might as well just leave it. I actually get the idea, but there’s not enough space for such a tournament to flourish

Actually not a bad idea. Invite the previous 2 continental champions and fill up the remaining spots via ranking. Increase the max slots per country (or remove them completely, or have champions not count towards the reduction of ranking slots).
That solves both of the issues >>149381767 was considering.
Regarding the schedule... yeah no easy solution there.

It's a pos tourney for which you could easily solve all of the problems it creates by it simply not existing. If South Americans want to hold it, host it and exclusively play in it, gl to them. Europe does not need, want nor care.

the thing i dont get, see pic related, is like yeah thats a decent amount of money and im talking about this from a uefa (but mostly premier league) perspective, they're tiring out their players in crazy weather who need a break, and delaying the start of their preseason for the next season, for decent money if they win but not an insane amount (and that's assuming they even win)
i think the clubs that missed out on qualifying (liverpool, arsenal for example) are gonna be way better off having a full summer to rest, full preseason etc than idk chelsea or city or whoever potentially winning 40m (which converts to £30m and isnt that much in the current market)
i think the UEFA clubs would be smart to say fuck off we're not participating especially if they try to make this a 2 year thing, but then you risk this big UEFA/FIFA war

the only reason any of these european clubs are there is because of the money, and they were probably threatened if they didnt show up. nobody in europe gives a shit about this charity tournament. your clubs are no different from auckland fc, it's a charity tournament to allow tiny clubs (like those from CONMEBOL) to play against the big boys (UEFA)
