I've always respected soccer as a cultural force. I have always enjoyed the World Cup since the first one I can remember, when I would travel abroad I'd always enjoy going to a game to take in the atmosphere. There were times when I tried really really hard to "Get into" soccer on a club level and I just never could.

I tried to follow my local MLS team but it just didn't clique like other sports did. I thought that maybe you can only truly love sports you fell in love with as a child and soccer would always be this sport I can appreciate the passion people have for it but never truly "get into it".

Then the CWC happened... that's when things changed. So I noticed a ton of discourse about it on /sp/ and youtube and I do enjoy meming soccer shit on here even if half the time I don't really know what I'm talking about (it's just that soccer posts are more active than baseball for instance).

Then I decided to watch the games... but to appreciate it I had to learn the history of the clubs and the leagues... and now I'm hooked by the drama to see how will be world champion. Will Brazilian league show it's back as league number 1. Will plastic arab money European teams show money can buy everything?

Now I'm starting to respect and follow soccer and all the different leagues. It's so cool all the tournaments you guys have there's always something to be interested in.

So if Infantion's plan was to grow interest in the game to new fans... well done you beautiful bastard.

Itnis hard for the everyday league to have the impact of somethung like the world cup or the club world cup when therenis always something happening.
Sometimes people catch themselves watching wigan x wolves, juventude, goianiense , lecce x chievo and they suddenlynask themselves what theynare doing with their lives

And? The coffee shop down my street was really cool until a new owner bought it and made it gay and touristy.

The Brazilian and Argentinian leagues were the best on the planet until 2000. Then the EU started buying players in absurd quantities.

Well what specific clubs/tournaments caught your interest?

Keep in mind many big clubs of Europe couldnt join because there was a limit of two clubs for countries (unless multiple teams from the same country won the yearly continental clubs cup in the last 5 years. Hence why there are four brazilian teams instead of two)
