Most of his plays can be easily stopped if he is fouled closed to the middle field.

it's actually hard to foul him, messi si insanely strong on his feet, insane balance. the truth is that most players choose to fall when they are getting fouled, if they don't the ref won't even bother with the foul and that's what happens a lot of messi, he can change directions a lot, not only it's harder to stop him but he also can use the "fouls" to pass by other players. the only places he agrees to flop when he's fouled is in the penalty box and in the zone where he loves to shoot free kicks.
