Unironically why did they die off so quickly? They went from being like, the third biggest club in the world, to smaller than Tottenham

they were successful for too long, under one manager.

imagine when they brought in Moyes in 2013 they hadn't changed a manager since 1986.

every part of the club became brittle and stale once the last successful team disappeared.

It did, i remember that the very next season Ferguson left, United became a joke with Moyes. It had some points of looking "good" like first seasons Van Gaal and Mourinho but it never stayed actually good

It happened tremendously fast. Ferguson retired and you could almost instantly see the drop in quality for how the club was run, recruitment and how the team played. Among other things. It's hilarious how one man held everything together.

They fucked up way too many times with their signings.
So much that they're close to FFP regulations and can't sign without selling players.

But the thing is, their squad is FULL of frauds, and lockerroom cancer, everyone else knows this and simply won't buy from them, even if Trashford's agent keeps paying people to pretend Barรงa is after him.

Worse, they've sank so low due to all of that, their prestige is in the gutter, so attracting talent is nearly impossible or extremely expensive.

They've dug themselves a hole so deep that's nearly impossible to come back from that.

The decay was already there towards the end of the ferguson years, namely in the midfield. They weren't going to have luck replacing many of those players even with ferguson staying. Probably should have kept Van Gaal (memes aside) or Mourinho.
