My half dutch/half English colleague told me a couple things:
> 1. dutch people are the worst as they all jump on the bandwagon when an athlete does well and tune out when are not longer successful
> 2. dutch people do not show any dedication towards a sport, just follow what is popular
> 3. dutch people have no true or genuine sporting heritage
> 4. dutch people should not show themselves on the international stage
> 5. the netherlands is a non-country with no culture or history
Dutch people do this for every sport, once someone shows promise or is winning, people all jump on the bandwagon.
Once the honeymoon is over everyone bails and disappears.
I wish my country had fans who were dedicated and stick with it through thick and thin.
I feel utter embarrassment when I see anything dutch on any form of media. Seeing that “left, right” nonsense at Euro 2024 was utterly cringeworthy.
Why can’t dutch people behave sophisticated, educated and well mannered people. Why can’t dutch people be less visible in the world and give space of marginalised countries.
