To be fair there ARE B teams in the proper English pyramid. HOWEVER, the key difference is they're not allowed to play any higher than the 10th tier (the first actual "step" of the pyramid per pic related, where Dorking Wanderers B and Truro City Reserves, to name but two, ply their trade). it's not like other countries where you get B teams as high as the 2nd tier.
