Hell even in New York City the area between MSG and Hudson Yards it took a few years for people to start going there and that has one of the largest train stations in the world right next to it.
There was also their redoing of Industry City in Brooklyn which pre-Covid was a pretty dingy and miserable place frequented pretty much only by people who worked in the Industry parts of it. Now it's one of those "Great for Families in Park Slope and Bay Ridge" places.
If they wanted thousands to show up they'd have offered free stuff. But ultimately this is part of a large waterfront rezoning plan, it's probably gonna end up okay in a decade, but it'll take that long.
Just remember now there's too many people to kill yourself at Hudson Yards, even if you're a Canadian hockey fan.
