Can someone please explain how the Norwegian league got so good all of a sudden? They have the exact same conditions as us and yet we are 6 (9 last year) positions behind?? Actually they have worse conditions because they have half the population size.

The rankings are dictated by the best teams of said countries, it is about international performance. Behind the elite leagues, a single miracle run from a single club can easily cause a league to skyrocket - for a brief period. The fluctuation potential is high. Bodö did very well last season and reached the EL semifinal. Likewise, Swedish teams absolutely sucked the season before that. I wouldn’t call it a general trend yet.

Regarding the top teams, it is probably pretty accurate. The non-elite leagues being close works as well. It doesn’t say anything about depth and overall league strength

Not at all, i mean if we mixed the swedish and norwegian leagues would the top 5 be norwegian dominated? Not likely, the flavor of the month norwegian money team would probably win but beneath that it would be a toss-up. You can just look at Östersund in our own league they made ”waves” in europe and all, but it turns out it was all just money doping and their owners went to jail. That’s why we have supporter owned teams to stop fake shit like that

It's probably a style issue. I follow a lot of Swedish basketball and they play extremely fast and the soccer teams are the same way. The issue with playing fast is you score goals but it increase the opportunities for both teams and you get exposed by more efficient clubs. This is something they discovered in basketball like 10 years ago where if you want to upset a team you can artificially keep the point differential close by playing slow. Sweden plays too fast. That is my takeaway. Norway plays fast too but not as fast.
