They had the wc in 1994 and they had the mls or whatever they called it before then and even Pelรฉ played over there and soccer didn't take over, they ruined it on themselves with the franchise system and the way they develop juniors. In ten years time it'll be the same and people will say what an effort for not much gain and 20 years after that they'll host another wc and repeat the cycle

I think TV viewership is actually down the last several years. The doughy pussy kids that used to play soccer instead of American sports are now just playing video games. The American soccer takeover was dead before it began.

He's right you know. American players carrying MLS teams builds character and makes them strongmind. Being pampered in Europe has made the USMNT worse.

>i feel like the country is too big for relegation. too much traveling. would have to make leagues for each region

This country has many soccer fans and MLS only fags are a minority and insecure as fuck. So on the one hand you have Americans who literally only watch EPL or bandwagon a top team like Bayern and on the other, you have MLS fags who desperately crave attention. And not to mention the millions of latinx illegals in this country who only watch Real Madrid Barcelona or their beaner clubs like Club America and Chivas. All I'm saying is to not lump us all in with the MLS retards.

soccer's popularity in general is starting to wane, its oversaturated. there's too much of it and people are starting to look at other sports to break up their sports viewing. for the first time more people in france watched the rugby six nations than the euros. the australia-england rugby league ashes tour is already sold out. american football is starting to develop a cult following in germany.

people are getting tired of 24/7 soccer. it'll still be the biggest sport in the world, but its starting to bleed some audiences, particularly in europe, looking for something else.

The irony is that if Americans weren't retarded they'd have set up a pyramid with regional lower leagues and no salary caps or other enforced parity, 40 years ago, and it would be a top league

You don't need academies retard you let the clubs take care of that themselves as they see the need and if you put soccer in as a school sport at primary/elementary school you'll get every kid playing it and they join their local junior clubs and what you need is properly accredited coaches to teach fundamentals then when they're a bit older they start getting graded with their age groups. Setting up these academies where idiots send their precious sons and pay too much money for the privilege before setting up the real grassroots stuff is completely arseways

MLS will never be popular here because itโ€™s too European, and ironically, soccer fans here donโ€™t like MLS because itโ€™s too American
