This new version of brand football shirts is shark jump shit to the football shirt thing.
There was a point last year where I was walking in Williamsburg, Brooklyn wearing my 94 Germany Away shirt that I just love mostly for its symmetry and color mix, I've had it for probably a decade now, got it at a great price right after college when I was still in California.
But I usually got compliments about it from women, it was usually "love the colors" "cute shirt", "thanks I thrifted it a long time ago" and so on.
But then last summer some guy went "that's an awesome 1994 Germany Away Shirt" to me. Last night when I was going to get my paycheck after work the bouncer stopped me because I looked like I was going into the employees only area, I turned around and am like "just getting my paycheck" and smiled and he was like "oh, yeah they came really late today" (I work at a Midtown gentlemen's club so the men who work there are basically the most normally dressed men in the world) Football shirts are it with everyone from 14 year olds from Bremen to Overweight Dads from Ohio. Common amongst strip club patrons, tourists and children.
This new "not even a club, just brand and things you like" is the shark jump of footy shirts. 2026 will be like Yoga Pants in 2018 with Football Shirts
