>Campeonato Paulista
Regional league which covered just one state in which about 20% of brazilian population lived
>Rio-São Paulo
Competition for two towns only. Absolute mickey mouse shit.
>Brasileiro
Quality of the league aside, this one is at least country-wide
>Libertadores
Conmebol's champions league. I would say valid
>Intercontinental
Nobody cares about those nowadays. Did anyone 5 decades ago? Maybe. Let's give it a pass.
>North American Soccer League (NASL)
Retirement hobby league
>National Team
Goals in this range from world cup goals, to meaningless bernardo o'higgins cup stuff but let's not differentiate, for the fans all international games hold at least a decent weight

So in summary, only 203 of his goals (27,1%) were scored in anything that wasn't a certified mickey mouse competition. Is THIS your GOAT?

>He was lucky
This is truth.

Pelé definitely was a generational player and likely the best of his peers, but he wasn't the reason for those 3 world cups and this whole thing about him being "the best of all time" (and Maradona too for that matter) is more myth than reality, like with many other athletes in different sports.

He was strongly mythologized here in Brazil because the media and government, interested in the growing popularity of the sport and having someone as a national icon for political reasons respectively, turned him into a national hero.
Same thing that happened with Ayrton Senna.

These "legends" from bygone eras are always more myth than reality.
