This Warriors Thunder game is a PERFECT example of how the boxscore lies. If you just looked at Kumingas boxscore, and the effiency numbers, youd think hes actually the best player on the warriors right now, but he is genuinely garbage, he is literal garbage, when asked to do anything himself that isnt a fadeaway against an OKC defender not even bothering to contest, or the easiest cut of his life, he fumbles the bag. He cannot catch the basketball, he cannot dribble the basketball, all his moves are predictable as fuck and OKC figured out his cheap ass cutting bullshit because thats the only way he can consistently score so caruso cut off the passing lanes easy. He cant handle the ball, unless somebody else creates the spacing he cant even pass the ball beyond the most basic of drive and kicks.

Earlier this game I was wondering if OKCs defense was overrated because they were falling for that basic ass pick and roll scheme Warriors love to run, where theyll screen, somebody will drive, then kick it back to the guy at the 3 point line. OKC was slow to switch and would double team everybody even not curry for some reason.

But in the 2nd half they stepped up, adapted hard, switched everything, covered passing lanes, and the only shots the let off were Kuminga jumpers, Podz jumpers a couple cuts, and some flukey 3s.

Also either Curry is washed, or the OKC defense on him is uniquely tight because hes the only ball handler on the team. He doesnt actually have a lot of turnovers (there was that early quarter behind the back to a Quinten Post that thought to roll instead of pop...when the roll was covered) But he CANNOT score at the rim, and his shot selection has been horrible, either because he cant create separation in isolation, or because almost all his dribble hand off shots have been turn around 3s hes ran into.

I didnt expect the warriors to win, but desu I didnt expect a blowout this bad. This OKC team makes the warriors look like the Pelicans.

But Jimmy is 100% a free throw grift8ng merchant, and this game is the one game to convince me that Shai is actually good and just waaaay better than Curry right now. Shai earned my respect this game. It was the playmaking difference that really sold me. OKC is a genuinely good team, theyre not carried by free throws, and neither is shai. Yes he has had some garbage foul baiting games early in the year, but he is legit like 90% of this OKC teams offense because other than him and chet they are ass offensively.

Im coping that he was efficient because the OKC defense put the clamps on him, and while thats partially true, I genuinely think he can no longer make any shots within 3 to 10 feet, and thats why he constantly has to force tough 3 point shots where hes running into the shot or isolation off the dribble shots. He clearly does not have the sauce to even make those, but atleast he can get those shots easier than anything close to the rim.

My delusion and cope is fading. Curry cant carry a team like this anymore. If he couldnt carry that 2021 team having a season as insane as he did that year. Then at this age, he cant do it. Hes not Tim Duncan where even when old and washed can somehow still drop like 30 with 17 rebounds, 5 offensive, and provide pure value even when not scoring.

I'm still kind of shaky on Chet's outside shooting but when he hits it really helps with the upfake drive as you said. He's had some improvement with holding the ball from last year, but the way he dribbles I think could be tighter. It's nice to see everyone passing the ball and seeing the game play so fluidly, Thunder has had concerns about the game stagnating once Shai gets bottled so this is a huge improvement to their game.
