I'm thinking of running this with all 3 sourcebooks to try and get a game reminiscent of SaGa, Phantasy Star, some of the Final Fantasies, and some parts of Breath of Fire 1-4.
I'm also looking for other sources of Science Fantasy that I can get inspiration form.

a lot early-midcentury pulps had sci fi that would be pretty fantastical by modern standards. Startling Stories and Science Fantasy Magazine are pretty good.
Heavy Metal Magazine, particularly the older issues.
Adventure Time, both cartoon and comics.
Numenera sourcebooks.

Look into Ryuutama incidentally: the Italian who made this basically stole most of that system and inflated the numbers.

I just realized that a lot of 80's cartoons fall very much into the Science Fantasy camp; He-Man/She-Ra, ThunderCats/SilverHawks/TigerSharks, and Voltron

There are so many science fantasy RPGs out there, but they're incredibly niche and hardly anyone plays them.

>Solar Blades & Cosmic Spells
>Gamma World
>WarpWorld
>Lasers & Liches
>Alpha Blue
>Cavaliers of Mars
>John Carter of Mars
>Machinations of the Space Princess
>Stars Without Number
>Phantasy Star RPG
>Under The Broken Moon (Thundarr)
>Barbarians of the Future
>GURPS New Sun
>Final Fantasy RPG
>Dragonstar
>Flash Gordon

One of my favorite aesthetics is "overtly fantasy-looking character using a smartphone as an everyday object."

Now I'm just remembering Wild ARMs for the PS1. Just the opening song alone brings back memories.

Anon, how/where can I find more art like this? Asked AI and it of course came up with bs answers, that were incorrect.

I was going to be snarky and go "Just reverse image search it", but I think I'll be nice just cause oldschool art is harder to find in general with ai bs. It's an art piece that was made for an old science fiction magazine, piece itself made by Gary Freeman. If you look up the illustrators for those old magazines, some of them have put higher quality versions of their works onto the internet since they already got paid ages ago, so you could start there.
