They completely fucked it up in the haslabs pitch, and as it was too big fail (aka they already invested in it) they decided to bend over backwards to appease the folks that were refusing to back the lab because it wasn't exactly like the original launch.

Pic unrelated

Since the haslab failed, we had to buy the same stuff piece by piece at a far greater total price. fuck

Yeah I noticed that, it's why I still haven't dove in, despite loving the haslab lineup and pricepoint. I'm use to kickstarting things and just slapping the *BAM* all everything bundle. Most people weren't expecting that nor use to it. Since they weren't pussy footing around, they lumped it all into one set. One big dumb and full of cum set. I hate that we got close but didn't make it to the goal line, because this is awesome. Just look at it.

I feel like you guys could make these using mdf hexes and textured paint and a few railway scenic clumps and trees and they would look better. Just hit them with a sealer and really let it cure a couple of days.

I've made Battletech terrain with mdf hexes. And no, you couldn't do what's in the pic.

It would require hundreds of dollars worth of hexes. It would weigh like 75 lbs. And it's also not really possible to glue that many hexes together with precision. Minor differences in the shape of each hex/hex stack add up, and every stack you glue together pushes things slightly farther askew.
