>GW can't show negative Chinese stereotypes with Cathay for fear of offending China
>the Conquest wargame happily parodies negative aspects of European, Indian, Arabic, Japanese and Byzantine cultures
>Infinity has an all-flaws-included hypercapitalist US-derived Western faction and a massively repressive CCP-derived Chinese faction
What gives? Why is GW in particular cucking to China? Is it a UK thing? Why do the Spaniards and Greeks not give a fuck?

For as much as GW fanboys beat their chests about Warhammer’s setting being dark and gritty and mature, their settings still very clearly have good guys and bad guys. The good guys might be ruthless and the bad guys might (rarely) have some sliver of sympathetic motives, but it’s still apparent who you’re supposed to cheer for. Like 90% of the fluff is “good guys are so cool and brave, don’t we love them” or “oh the good guys did the awful thing, but they *had* to don’t you see, there was no other option so they’re justified.”

Meanwhile, every faction in Infinity is an asshole. Nomads are plucky cyberpunk heroes fighting an oppressive system with courage and resourcefulness… but 90% of their units are deranged lunatics or horror stories like Hollowmen. ALEPH keeps the human sphere together economically and is the one that steps in to slap down hypercorps when they get too triggerhappy… but she also ruthlessly hunts down even harmless dissenters and isn’t afraid to whip out an entire colony. PanO has the highest standard of living and provides a utopia for it’s people… and that utopia is built upon exploitation of ateks, the enslavement of aliens, and the ocean of blood spilt over resources and tech research.

All of this is to say that if GW were to add a China-analog, it would necessarily be another bad guy, one in opposition to their good guy faction. Meanwhile, in Infinity, the China-analog is just one bastard among a sea of bastards.

>Ariadna
Almost 200 years backwards hicks sitting on the most sought for resource in the known galaxy. Stopped fighting each other only long enough to petition for recognition in the space UN. Genocide native Dawn population (while also intermixing with it). Ruled by the Russian part.

>Haqqislam
Comes with almost all the retardation of regular Islam.

>O-12
Space UN/Interpol, will sabotage factions who seem to be getting the upper hand in the fragile stalemate peace state. Also use forbidden weapons, except they made a legal exception for themselves, fancy that.

>NA2
Simply ruthless mercenaries, with Druze being part mafia.

>Tohaa
"Friendly" aliens that manipulate "allies" to their advante, including on a biological level.

>Combined Army
OK, these are just the honest hostile invading aliens. Have a weapon that brainwashes people and make them into weird abominations. Their ultimate quest is doomed from the start, but it doesn't stop them.

Ehh, I think that's a poor assessment. Whatever issues stem from their islamic background are way overshadowed by their unbreakable monopoly on Silk (scifi material used to build artificial and replacement bodies) and what they do to maintain it. For every "fanatical hassassins kill whoever The Old Man on the Mountain says to kill (which seems to mostly be PanO/YJ c-suites anyway)," you get multiple instances of them doing shit like hiring pirates to rape and pillage shipping lanes merely *suspected* of smuggling Silk.

Exrah a.k.a. crabitalists. They operate like 40k Tyranids, but economically: they show up on a planet and start exploiting them for all they're worth, stripping resources and extracting wealth and devastating the environment until the economy finally collapses, then moving on to the next planet like an all-consuming horde of venture-capitalists locust.

I'm pretty sure they were originally booted out because they kept selling secrets and tech to enemy races, but now the fluff has changed to them trying to cheat the CA on their first contact and getting curbstomped for it. Regardless, they're now back in a very limited capacity (since the CA can't trust them to not fuck them over if given even the smallest amount of freedom) after being missing for an edition and a half.

How come infinity never took off as much as 40k did?
I mean with all the ass the models used to have(I don't know what they're like now) you'd think you'd bait that crowd hook line and sinker.
Could it be the name itself doesn't help the game's visibility? Lack of blockbuster secondary media like Dawn of War?

All factions look the same, which is really bad for appealling to different people. You need a wide variety of different aesthetics to appeal to a broader audience. It's like 40K was only space marines. Sure they are the most popular faction by a wide margin, but if you had nothing but space marines, everyone who doesn't want to play as dudes in power armor would pass on the game. I loved Aliens as a kid, which is why Tyranids was my first army.

It's almost as if I saw this strawman coming and already accounted for it in my post. Yes, huge number of 40K models are space marines that are very similar. But they also have all the xenos factions that are wildly different from space marines, whereas Infinity has far less strange, breaking-the-mold factions. If I don't want to play as the marines in your picture in 40K, I have plenty of choices. If I don't want to play as dudes with scifi weapons and armor in your picture in Infinity, my choices are extremely limited.

More like comparing it with Call of Duty. Fortnite is itself still fairly new and who knows how long it will remain culturally relevant, but CoD is a storied franchise with a dedicated base of paypiggies that will continue to buy their game at any price no matter how bad the game gets nor how badly executives screw things up behind the scenes in terms of monetization. I feel like that's pretty 1:1 with GW.

Used to be PanO, but it seems tied with Haqq now (goddammit, down from 8 TAGs to just 4, sad).
But if you want to field more than one you should go with Nomads (Corregidor) and their Gecko team. Although Squalo Mk 2 is fairly cheap and Availability 2 as well.

Some TAGs got moved to sectorial exclusive units(in fact many sectorial specific units got, some sectorials like Varuna essentially became the Vanilla).
Of course "most TAGs" can also mean "most TAGs at once in a still somewhat viable list", where you want cheap TAGs more than TAG options overall. Corregidor for example has "only" three TAG options, but you you could run a 2-3 Geckos in a Haris and still have just enough points for a somewhat viable list.

Not only are Geckos really cheap (and really good for their points), the Nomad flyer is even cheaper (and is also really really good for its points). You could run two Geckos and the rocketspam Go-Pod in a standard list and still have about half your points and SWC to play with for support, ARO detail, an objective grabbing units. That's not ideal, but given that other factions have TAGs that cost 1/3 of your total points budget by themselves, you comparatively have a ton of listbuilding flexibility even when focusing so much on mechs and vehicles.
