๐
We're in an era where normies are buying labubu for $200,
FF MTG Collectors pack are literally flying of every single shelves and none of them are below $800,
People routinely buy big lego sets for $500-$1000
And we still don't have a $1K Plastic titan to spend money on.
Why is our hobby less expensive than fucking LEGO and fucking MTG now ? GW need to get the crown back and sell us a plastic titan.
>Titanicus location targeting with full sized titans
fucking lol.
They're gonna be way more expensive now that they're not just massive tanks though. And BS3? There's gotta be some serious modifiers going on with their guns. Or maybe you get bonuses depending on how the head unit is faring. Boy these are fun and intricate rules for something that'll never get used.
>>95863164People keep saying it will never get used, but this edition is really pushing to the 10K points game very evidently.
>>95863162>GW sneeds to increase their prices.
>>95863067>BS410 Meltas (or Multi-meltas) do 6.6 hits

>5++ ion shield4.81 Pens become 3.21 Unsaved Pens
At half range, 3.21 times 6D is 19.25, which kills the Knight almost twice over
Does melta really roll two dice, though? I heard Armourbane became "Glances count as Pens" instead. If that was the case, then it would be 2.2 pens instead, becoming 1.48 unsaved pens times 6 = 8.88 hull points
>>95863023primarchs already had to kneel down to enter any part of a spaceship that was not specifically built for a primarch (fulgrim had his entire main area made primarch-height so he wouldnt need to kneel)
And this gaylord design with that shit on his back is like 5 feet taller than a primarch. It would be entirely worthless in a navy (which is what space MARINES were made for)

>>95863252especially now that instadeath is gone from the game. They'll probably give it some anti-terminator weapon with only 4 attacks, 2 hits, maybe kill 1 terminator a turn - and some weapon with 2x attack multiplier, that is like dmg1 and can only kill 1 terminator a turn because strength 8 means nothing at all now.
>>95863164>There's gotta be some serious modifiers going on with their guns. Or maybe you get bonuses depending on how the head unit is faringIt might be the case that their damage is a lot lower due to their durability.
>>95863091I houseruled it and the Xeno one to be standard for all Blackshields, we played a campaign with seven players that way and the Blackshields guy never felt OP.
>>95863252Imagine hitting a Master Sargent Tactical marine on a 5+ with a colossal chain sword?

>>95863023I'm kinda tempted to turn the Saturnine Praetor into a Lord of Contagion in 40K.
>>95863287Stomp attacks should work like in WHFB, and just be X automatic hits vs sufficiently small things (infantry, cavalry)
>>95863175That's entirely up to how homosexual your group chooses to be. Right now, this edition is shaping up to be the best for lower point value games the system has ever been - I might even play the regular game instead of just ZM for the first time in years. Minimum point values for Primarchs, no more squadrons of vehicles and dreads, everything seemingly a bit less swingy in terms of TTK, all they have to do is make "big stuff" like knights & flyers suitably expensive or also put a minimum value on them and it should be possible to play the game at 1-2k without it becoming a complete fucking clownshow.
If your group's reaction to that possibility is
>WAAAAH BUT I WANNA USE MY TITAN NOW WE HAVE TO PLAY AT 10K WAAAHthe problem begins with Y and ends with ou.
>>95863252Has everybody already forgotten that melee weapons have an attack modifier stat now? Or that in 2.0 knights relied on their stomp attacks anyway, which were in addition to their base attacks?
>>95863316Anon the attack modifier stat is for number of attacks. Not WS
>>95863219Oooh. It's 6.6 hull points then (and no Status effects) at 12".
Meltas were said to be the best thing this edition, but I'm also seeing they can't delete a knight in one go...
...is this what Balance looks like? Unironically a new feeling.
>>95863327Just saying we don't have the full picture yet. For all we know stomp attacks might become blasts again, making WS irrelevant.
>>95863343Im not disagreeing with that, just saying that the AM does not alter their ws4.
>>95863252Depends on the WS table this edition
>>95863287I imagine it's more the marines moving out of the way of the relatively slower giant sword than then parrying it

>>95863337they went from +d6 strength to +1 strength. That's not balance, that's entirely neutering meltas to complete uselessness outside of rare exceptions.
A melta tossed onto a terminator squad appearing 1" away with zero scatter is some compensation for how they butchered meltas.
A melta as a gun inside of a tactical squad? Entirely useless forever now. Short range, does exactly nothing outside of point blank, and does almost nothing point blank.
>>95863403I think there's a lot of unnecessary doom and gloom for an edition that's getting four libers (Marines, Solar Aux, Mech, Knights) on launch. Blackshields, Shattered Legions, and Militia will probably get released at the same time as Custodes/Talons and Daemons/Agents
>>95863607>Melta fails to do anything 2/3 of the time, even within half rangeAh well, anons desperately wanted vehicles to be more resilient. Wish granted! LOL
It's the same fuckers who wished for Instant Death to be gone, and what they achieved was that power fists are no longer the equalizers against elite & HQ marines.
A power fist needed to be lucky just once. Now they need to be lucky every time, in multiples of 2.

Fingers crossed examplary battles units were all added into libers
>>95863668Oh no, you're only doing ~6 out of its likely 8-9 hullpoints with a 10 man tactical support squad and inflicting a status in the process. Whatever will we do.

>>95863900E-money wasn't involved with it at all, the initial suits are from enclaves of saturn, hence the name.
I hope 3rd gets rid of the allies matrix. From a narrative and gameplay perspective it sucks that yourdudes team up better or worse depending on some arbitrary decisions. Especially since there were plenty of bonds formed that ran counter to the disposition of the legions as a whole. You should just be able to pick the level of allegiance with each ally and get other benefits or penalties to offset it.
>>95863929Well, Oxford, Cambridge, Merriam-Webster, google, and more entries than I care to list agree it means always. No idea where you're looking.
>>95863945>from enclaves of saturnCan't wait for SA to not get them, because of reasons. Just like how elite void troopers got a shitty civilian shuttle as their transport, no access to assault claws used by even the Imperial Navy, and bringing long laser weapons, rather than something more suited for boarding action.
I am wondering what will happen with Rites of War honestly, the FO chart seems to be buffing a lot already and I can imagine they will just give you the option to change the FO buffs to legion specific ones and thats kinda sad
I also have no idea how Tanks are going to fare, given that melta has been gutted and lascannon spam seems to be more alluring now
But I wouldn't call it over yet, the new rules seem... weird? But I will hold out till i see the legion traits and how they affect army building
>>95863949I hope 3rd edition makes the allies matrix more restrictive. From a narrative and gameplay perspective it sucks that half of these legions would ever consider working together under any circumstances with no real downside because of some arbitrary decisions. Especially because despite some bonds formed between individuals 99% of legion hatred ran so deep that it was one step away from shoot on site between many supposed allies. GW should make every legion have at least 5 by the emperor/warmasters demand tier "allies" each and you should be rewarded for not even thinking of pairing the two.
>>95863992Restrictions might stop someone buying a second army. It's a no from GW.
>>95863991A melta gun still strips more hp on average than a lascannon, even against a land raider. Lascannons are still great because of range, but theyโre not gonna out damage a melta gun on average

>>95862993they've literally got their own Tactical Support Detachment and don't have to take separate detachments to get Transports
>>95863977I'm fairly certain saturnine pilots are nuggeted, so they can fit. Other than that, marines getting all tthe good toys while the regulars get the scraps is part of the whole grimdark deal.
>>95864009>what would keep you from simply being Sworn BrothersThe aforementioned penalties to offset it.
>>95863992>sucks that half of these legions would ever consider working together under any circumstancesIt's bizarre that two of the three loyalist legions from Isstvan V are sworn brothers with the EC. You'd think they'd have rethought that relationship.
Ultimately there shouldn't really be levels of allegiance. You can make up your own fluff for your army, but it doesn't need to impact the rules. Marines shouldn't ever be joined by and taking orders from another legion's HQ outside of shattered legions armies.
>>95864088I do, but it doesn't help me. Building a 2500pts army took me almost exactly 3 years. And it looks like with this edition I can't even use most of the stuff I bought. Never mind have an efficient army Maybe GW will release another book with detachment, so people can play with their armored fist or dreadnought armies.
>>95863977>Can't wait for SA to not get them, because of reasonsBecause theyre rare, complex and difficult to maintain tech that even the marines didnt have a lot of and which wasnt viable to keep in long term operation?
The SA are mooks compared to the legions, why would they get the legions best toys?
>>95863127ding ding ding ding ding ding
>>95863091but also if you're taking Tacticals for example, you're gaining range and shots at no additional cost, and the unit becomes more versatile in terms of loadout without reducing the number of weapon exchanges you can make
for Legion Veteran Squads - which you may be forced into using as Troops - it gives you much more ranged punch without paying 80 points for combi-weapons (and longer-ranged punch too) because you'll only have 5 bolters in the squad
for Destroyers, a mix of shotguns and lasguns/lascarbines gives greater range plus Concussive on your shooting, while 20 stubcarbines (replacing both bolt pistols) would give you twice as much killing power against MEQ/TEQ before a charge without taking away your +1A for 2CCW
>>95864147Maybe having one Sworn Brother means you gotta have one By the Emperor's Command and two Distrusted Allies, but that doesn't mean you can simply switch to a different Allies Matrix altogether when allying a different force.
Only in a tournament would it be locked in, and you just wouldn't begin a tournament allied to distrusted forces to begin with.
>>95864157>Because theyre rare, complex and difficult to maintain techyou have no understanding of planetary scale industry.
The most rare and high tech objects today are some high horology watches. Some need a full year to build by 1 artisan.
When you have a planet size factory with TRILLIONS of peoples, something rare is done in the millions.
>>95864222>>The most rare and high tech objects today are some high horology watchesTheyre not. Just blatantly.
Artisan watches are RARE but they are explicitly rather primitive, their rarity comes from the fact that they are artisanal, that theres like seven dudes making them for a very limited market.
>>95864222>something rare is done in the millions.Yes anon, theres millions of suits of saturnine terminator armor, its why it wasnt phased out in favor of easier to produce and maintain marks. Its why all the legions run around in terminator plate.
>>95863130One of my main hopes for the new edition was seeing a lot of the legends and expansion units get reintroduced, but I doubt it seeing how much things have changed. They'll likely just be in a new legends PDF down the line anyway, so nothing may have changed too much.
>>95863130I think the odds of them rejigging every legacy unit for the new format are low. Some stuff is going to 100% be lost.

My Centurion kitbash. Axe because it was the only left handed weapon I owned (from Rann, so extra heretical). You reckon it's worth giving him a combi melta?

I want to see how much they fucked them up.
So they got rid of Hatred rerolls to hit and they got rid of Shred rerolls to wound
Twin-linked weapins are just going to get teice the shots like in 40k, arent they?
Not looking forward to 20 fucking shots comming out of a HB rapier...

>>95864602In 8th they got rid of it as a rule and turned it into double shots for all the guns that had it before
>>95864562desu twin linked just being twice the shots is literally the most realistic since it is two barrels spitting a projectile each, instead of just creating a second potential bullet in case of a miss.

>>95864562Maybe the things that have TL up to now will have Shred in 3.0 instead?
+1D on 6s to hit makes a lot more sense on coaxial weapon that it does on a chainsword, that's for sure
Tho it's not terribly useful for a lot of them. +1 to hit or wound would be better
+1 to wound also lines up with ranged Hatred
>Shred is conditional +1D
So that makes lightning claw terminators not be useless against other terminators. That is good.
But chainswords will be fighting 1W marines, on which the extra damage is pointless, right?
Will chainswords even have shred to begin with? 2.0 was nice in that it made chainswords better than regular CCWs
>>95864774How do you know chainswords are keeping shred?
>>95864774>So that makes lightning claw terminators not be useless against other terminators. That is good. We've yet to see the full rules for claws. If they're flat AP3, that damage isn't going to matter much.

>>95865132They were. Doesn't mean they still are. Especially since rending seems to be gone. They might get breaching, they might not.
>>95865223They better get some options.
>>95865132Yes, but shred and rending did very different things than they do now (or will do).
Translated to current rules: shred(which now needs a value btw, but probably like 6+) + rending (6+) is "on a 6 to hit you automatically wound and do +1 damage for that attack". Zero impact on AP.
Breaching + shred could be interesting, make 6s to wound REALLY nasty (functionally a power fist hit) but with no reroll its harder to fish for, the days of lighting claws/ravens talons murdering dreadnoughts are (probably) gone.
>>95865253I'd say regular lightning claws are +0IM +1 AM SU AP3 D1 Shred 6+ breaching 6+, and Raven Talons are the same but drop shred for breaching 5+
Why is the Eye of Horus on the wrong side?
>>95865253>the days of lighting claws/ravens talons murdering dreadnoughts are (probably) gone.Sounds like the words of someone who could stand to bring more claws.
>>95865271I could see it. I think its a net decrease in their power (+1D is worse than the reroll for most cases imo) but itd keep the general vibe. I dont imagine ravens talons will lose shred though, theyre supposed to be lightning claws+, not an arguable sidegrade. Probably just +1 to whatever breacing value claws end up having.
Although: I think there is another possible world, where they keep their current keywords and subsequently shift role. Rending + shred makes for insanely powerful AP3 killers that cant do much else. Lightning claws would become the perfect veteran killing machine. In that world I could see ravens talons dropping rending(6+) for critical strike (6+)
>>95865287right shoulder is appropriate for primary symbols in the case of the left pauldron being an ablative format ala neuemk.6 for instance

>>95865144>they can't just put 1 on everythingeverything will be D1, except for radium weapons. Those can be D2.
I hope the new edition has a bit more weapon variety/customization. Like give a reason to dual wield power weapons for example, or let people customize their shit. The added granularity of the weapons profiles should make that easier to balance than ever, and it would fit really well within the context of the new duelling system and the 8 extra centurions everyone is running.
>>95865369Calix heavy las is going to be d2, heavy(d) imo. Enough to still character snipe.
>>95865369Prediction for the guns I remember:

Big lascannon D3
Lightning guns D1
Darkfire cannons D2
The lasfusil (thruster?) Ap3 thing D1
Plasma fusils same D as whatever plasma ends up being (probably 1)
Grav fists D3
Lashes D1
>>95865381>heavy(d)Anon, you just reminded me. Did the leaks show whether or not Relentless still exists? Or some equivalent rule which makes units always count as not having moved for various purposes.
I'm wondering if lascannons mounted on vehicles and dreads are perma D2.
>>95865404Funny literally everything you said they'd make greater than D2 I predicted that they'd leave D1 out of spite.
>>95865420Graviton crushers being D1 would be the funniest thing. S10, D1 is just a shitpost profile.
>>95865415No idea. I would guess so? But who knows.
>>95865428It's literally what they did last edition so
>>95865420I could maybe see darkfires remaining D1 since theyre <S8 and therefore not something you would expect to "instant death" terminators.
But I dont see a world where the plasma mortar or the big las cannon dont have that ability.
>>95865441In the last edition high S was its own reward. Brutal was just a weird outlier like 4 weapons had, lascannons, missiles and melta not being among them.
In this edition instant death isnt a thing, S10 d1 takes two unsaved attacks to kill a veteran or terminator. 3 for saturnine or basic centurions, more for other characters.
Putting my Typhon together - I'm at the sponson stage, what should I give it? Obviously the edition is changing, but do we think it should be as cheap as possible or that something like heavy flamers would give it utility?
>>95865471Flamers always cause panic tests now, which might be fun. Just go for whatever looks coolest/does the job you want though.

>>95865645Meltas actually have slightly more average hp damage than a stationary lascannon, since a lascannon is only d2 while a melta is d6 in half range. You only need 1 melta to get through to destroy a predator, probably 2 for a land raider.
>>95863662Hmm, the Astartes/Hereticus ones actually look pretty fuckin' THICC. Even accounting for the fact they both have to include the same redundant core army list, there's maybe a *little* hope that GW have crammed some of the supplementary/legends content back in?

I wonder how theyre going to do autocannons (and variants) with the new changes.
Their "thing" used to be that theyre a jack of all trades weapon, decent strength and firepower but nothing crazy in either direction, not great AP but with rending. Rending also gave them some ability to knock out vehicles, not enough to be very reliable outside of giant numbers but enough to get a couple HP off.
But how would that work now? Will they just get rending/critical hits/breaching/whatever? Because those rules now only work vs infantry.
I just hope sicarans are good.

>>95865987Is deep strike dead? Because im not sure it is. Especially with interceptor not a functional 2nd shooting phase for the enemy (mind you: it had to be this way or you could just instawin with deepstrike vs shooting armies, drop in, charge, no counterplay)
>>95866023Minus drop pods which I assume will circumvent the limitation, deepstrike is one unit per turn
>>95866003With the reputation rad weapons have in the grimdark it wouldn't surprise me if those cause panic too. And who knows, maybe Rad Phage will actually do something for once.

>>95866024I think deepstrike still has its use and place, it just wont be for having a melee deathstar rape the backline any more. Dropping in melta in the right place or setting up for the next turn are more likely now.
>>95866034Radphage is a new status effect, causes damage over time, sort of like what warpflame used to do in 40k.
>>95866046I'm still not sure what to think about the new deep strike, and if such a heavy nerf was needed. With sweeping advance gone it's not like deep striking melee can wipe any squad off the table.
I will miss deep strike scatter though, so much funny mishaps.
>>95866033Oof.
I wonder if master of signals will help with that
>>9586604230k. It was individual reserve rolls and scatter for each unit but no charging. You deployed in a blob with as tight coherency as possible around the model that lands first. Vox and other effects help with scatter accuracy.
>>95866046>just wont be for having a melee deathstar rape the backline any moreThat's one of the prime tactics of what deepstrike is abstracting. Dark Furies silently descending on a command unit for the Decapitation Strike(TM) is about as lore accurate as it gets. 2.0 made deepstrike a mess no one wanted. No one wanted be be able to place within 1 inch via a daisy chain of models.
1.0 was a risk, you could scatter and mishap or simply scatter too far away. Allow charges and it would be perfect.
>>95866110>That's one of the prime tactics of what deepstrike is abstracting.I understand that, and its cool when you do it. But its absolute ass to play against because its basically just "hope the other guy scatters or you lose"
Interceptor "balanced" it by letting you ventilate them if they try and do it, but that created its own problems.
>>95866123The whole game can said to be
>I hope my opponent doesn't the thing that makes them win Tactics prevent blowouts. Screen the command squad, hide out of LoS of snipers, don't expose rear armor. Just because 2.0 deepstrike was either so OP it was a win condition or so bad because your opponent had a bunch of interceptor doesn't mean that 3.0 deepstrike must suck at worst or be niche at best and no longer mirror what the stories of battles are.
>>95864661>>95865091Can't tell you, because James works during the week days
Anyway, more grime time
Actually, I probably can tell because the model is down on most sites and it's strife herald and the armour is upscaled armour from a Lucius conversion, which you can find if you dig around a bit on the purple sit
>>95866153>>I hope my opponent doesn't the thing that makes them winExcept normally there is a game around that. "I hope my opponents deathstar doesent make it to melee" is a problem you have to tackle (shoot it, screen it, avoid it) and they have to in return respond to your actions (use cover, position to force engagements, utilize secondary threats)
Deep strike doesent really have that. If it lands then it lands, you cant control it as the opponent. And then you lose because the opponent got decapitate your army (unless its also in reserve). There is no game involved, just watching how the scatter dice roll. Its why interceptor was necessary, to add interactivity and decision making to the process.
>Screen the command squad, hide out of LoS of snipers, don't expose rear armor. And all of those dont apply to deepstrike, because deep strike is "pick a point on the battlefield, put your melee deathstar there (dice willing)". There is no way your HSS is protected from deepstrike unless you somehow cover your entire part of the board in bodies.
>>95865987>Tactical statuse devolve games into standing contextsAre you not aware that pinning was a thing all thorough 2.0?
>>95863241>Inductii should hopefully be in the core liners.ohhh a second shot at making Inductii worth considering. I did not even think about that.
Maybe their mental stats are lower for a lower cost then a true Legionary.
>>95866177>And all of those dont apply to deepstrikeIt does in the sense you absolutely can control where you opponent deepstrikes. Screening is such a basic 101 tactic. If you don't want your opponent to land their murderball on your command squad or artillery etc then don't leave room for them.
>>95866177>There is no way your HSS is protected from deepstrike unless you somehow cover your entire part of the board in bodies. This is simply untrue. Plus interceptor exists. I'm starting to think you don't play because no one in their right mind would deepstrike in LoS of a HSS that didn't want to simply die to the auspex scanners free reaction.
>(dice willing)That's the game. Your opponent has the right to outplay you just as much you them. Again, 2.0 is bad example of how a mechanic should not work.
>>95866225>Plus interceptor exists.Anon I literally directly addressed interceptor, and how it was a necessary evil created by deepstrike being what it was.
>etc then don't leave room for them"just take up every inch of space surrounding your valuable units as a tide of flesh" is not exactly a very viable strategy. You can certainly take up space, you almost never have the ability to take up ALL the space, there is always going to be a gap big enough for deepstrike if it doesent scatter.
>>95866233>>95866225DS in 2.0 is just such a fucking ass mechanic. It's absurdly all or nothing.
3.0 DS is just absurdly restrictive. 1 unit per turn (but this doesn't scale with game size??), no charging but also no scatter.
It's like it's custom made for lone melta suicide squads.
You know, theyre probably going to give a "vanguard veteran" style rule for certain units that lets then charge from DS anyways
>>95866280Like it seems so obvious. Dawnbreakers and other DS elites that belong to "author favored" legions will be allowed to charge out of deepstrike, making them insanely good.
The DS cap is also going to be higher for various RoWs or legions, because of course it is.
I already miss having scatter on deep strike :(
A single unit of basic bitch troop assault marines with ZERO upgrades deepstriking on your weary backline on turn 3 will hurt all of us in this edition. It WILL cost you games.
Melta TSS drop pods will be the death of your prize tank.
>>95866301The same way they are in this edition?
>>95866300It already does
>>95866306No one takes TSS in this edition.
not exactly HH but here goes nothing:
>>95866317
>>95866319I do. With volkite calivers even.
>>95866319No shit. They are still as capable or more of blowing up any tank or super heavy.
People don't take them for reasons that could apply to 3.0 as well.
>>95866325I respect that. But thats just worse than a volkite HSS. I hope theyre better in 3.0.
>>95866329>People don't take them for reasons that could apply to 3.0 as wellPeople dont take them because anti-tank is so easy that expensive TSS with short range firepower arent needed. And interceptor reactions make limited scope deep strike super risky.
>>95862983gib close ups on that chadius warhound. I'm curious how smooth Bambulab A1 is because I'm convinced that even titans should be printed in resin only.
>>95866337>anti-tank is so easyLas cannons can only glance AV14 with a flare shield
>>95866346finally I can die in peace. thanks, anon.
>>95866348>even titans should be printed in resin only. You are always going to see the lines up close.
You hardly look at the models that close while playing tho
>>95866337Calivers are still good enough, have done solid work for me, even if they are overshadowed by culverin HSS.
People often get so caught up in what the highest tier meta units are that they start to think anything besides those has to be utter trash, and never even try something different.
>>95866351From the front, and unless theyre IW/NL. But even that doesent really matter because long range melta and easy to get grav exist. You simply do not need meltagun TSS
>>95866365It's not a matter of choosing the highest tier meta unit
It's a matter of retarded rules writers making a TSS with less shots, less strength, less range more expensive than the HSS variant
>>95866368Those are all reasons to not have to take melta in 3.0 as well
>>95866374>Those are all reasons to not have to take melta in 3.0 as wellExcept from what (limited) information we have this isnt the case. Vehicles are now harder to deal with at range, lascannons are worse at their job than they were before.
Melta on the other hand is, within the right circumstances, now insanely good at its job. Doing absolutely insane damage when put in the right place.
>>95866233>just take up every inch of space surrounding your valuable units as a tide of flesh" is not exactly a very viable strategyHyperbole, basic screening has been solved in the 40k community for years now after deepstrike lost scatter. I don't know why 30k is so reluctant to pick this up. I love watching batreps where IW players win because they took tac bricks and fubbles their opponent where they wanted them. You will have to expose yourself to play the game. You can't just play civil war fire ranks for an honorable battle. You have to give your opponent a chance to play and sometimes that's risking a valuable unit to shooting and/or charges. You make it seems like deepstrike is some perfect boogey man. While granted 2.0 deepstrike is poorly implemented it's still preventable.

>>95866383Jesus fucking christ
You know nothing about points, most weapons or even most special rules.
And you are all here bitching about how meltagun TSS in drop pods are going to be the end of the game and why would anyone ever take anything else.
You don't know shit yet. At least wait for the full rules before deciding on the next retarded meta that will have an easy counter that everyone here is going to ignore and bitch about for the next 3 year
>>95866348You fail to realise that even with marvels like tough resin ultra, resin is still an inferior engineering material, both in terms of durability and longevity
God forbid you print a titan out of standard or overrated Abs-like resin
Anyway, I'll post a pic in a sec
>>95866397>SLAI mean on an A1
Resin definitely does make them invisible if you don't care about 20h long prints per part
>>95866397>>95866407Everything I printed and shown here that I painted was always on 35um and even at that height, especially under any layer of paint are impossible to see, all the more so if you rotate your model correctly
Anyway, collage of the warhound
>>95866403>inferior engineering materialnta but my autism is compelling me to make an FDM skeleton and just print the details in think panels to glue them on top. I think it shouldn't be that hard
>>95866422Obviously I don't print minis on my A1 mini, but you can get some extremely impressive results
>>95866427That's fine, but don't print the skeleton in resin or your titan will fall apart in less than half a year, a full year and a half if tough resin
>>95866422>if you rotate your model correctlyProblem is there's sometimes no correct rotation, like that shin part. It's either going to fuck up the ball at the ankle or the connector at the top...

>>95866630>Counter OffensiveThat sounds unbelievably retarded even if it gives you a reason to keep the game going
>>95866692>>Rending doesn't improve armour penGOOD
>>95866687Because it's a chemical reaction, curing hardens resin by exposing it to UV and since UV is pretty much everything, your model will keep curing until it's insanely brittle, experienced that first hand
Tough resin are designed to be like rubber and such when cured, so they take much longer to become brittle
If you look at any resin manufacturer, they should have it listed how long the shelf life for their resin is
>>95866603Core missions are only for 3k or lower points . . . Most interesting.

>>95866757Thanks for all your effort, Anon.
I'm a bit conflicted about those pistols, on one hand they're huge but on the other it'd be easy to stick some wires and hook it up to the backpack.
>>95866479>blasts without scatterAt first I thought this was insane, but now it kind of makes sense since an instant death from Sx2 weapons is gone. I expect the majority of big guns to still have AP4, though.
Also, thank you very much again, leaker anon; very cool.
>>95866479So blasts roll to hit if they have LoS but if they mis completely they still scatter and can hit something automatically.

>>95866614>You can get tabled but still win on pointsThat's nice, I think

NO TWIN LINKED???!!!
Heavenly Jesus in the sky take us! That means everything that used to be twin linked will be double the instances of that weapon. (With cost increase) Let that shit sink in anons. This is one of the biggest chances in the edition
>>95866705oshid. surely applying a primer, paint and varnish, as per usual, would protect the mini for UV bullshittery? does brittleness affect minis in the same measure or just titan scale models?
>>95866760>Even if you're only hitting twoThat's already a stretch. You have to roll a very specific way to hit 2 model and that's offset by the time the marker lands on a different zip code
Either way normal missile launchers are way easier to access and destroyers are too expensive and niche to just shoot 1 ap3 blast. There's a lot of units that can do that easier and cheaper
Rad phage working on whole units gives them a unique support role they didn't have before. At least at reange
>>95866800That might be a weapon trait like assault which seems to be listed somewhere else.

>>95866810Everything fren and primer doesn't help in the long run, unless you have anti UV paint
Believe me, I have printed stuff since 2023, thankfully tough resin exists, which helps a lot,but still not ideal,i recommend you switch to it as well if you care about longevity of your minis
>>95866850For example I have Secutarii that I printed in 2023 from standard resin and they're so brittle Nowadays that they're straight up unusable

>>95866903Also FW is not the same as SLA resin, that's the important detail, FW resin doesn't have such a relatively short shell life compared to basic UV resins
Another reason to shill toughness resin from personal experience, for example I have a primus Medicae and his servo arm thingy that he has on his back, which is quite thin, hasn't broken off once and is still shockingly flexible. He's nearing 10 months old, whereas with normal resin, that thing would have been into pieces already, let alone flexible

>>95867222If they are 1.1" away from each other, which is not a lot, just enough to fit a 25mm base between them, it IS a very specific roll.
A third of the time the scatter will roll a direct hit, you only hit 1 model.
If it actually scatters, for a roll of 2-5, BS4 still won't move it enough to hit another model. You hit 1 model.
If you roll a 7 or more you are no longer hitting the innicial target, you hit 1 model.
Unless the enemy unit is tightly packed or is numerous enough that a 7"+ scatter still land fully inside the unit.
If they are actually tightly packed you get more hits on a direct hit, but half the time the scatter is not going to hit anything.
It's a pretty specific roll
Assuming small blast weapons always hit 2 model is being pretty generous

Anyone who's ever used a 20 man squad just balls them up and pushes them forward, to even insinuate that anyone would take the time to perfectly space out every model in every unit on the table is a level of no-games that this thread rarely sees
>>95866110>30k. It was individual reserve rolls and scatter for each unit but no chargingI disagree. I think deepstrikes should scatter like in 1.0 indeed, to keep it random.
But SINCE it's random, and this fair, I say they should be able to charge. Especially now that they can be Intercepted and Overwatched against.
I would have every unit roll for it like regular reserves do, though.
>>95867382>disagreeYou mean agree? We want the same thing
>>95866177>those dont apply to deepstrike, because deep strike is "pick a point on the battlefield, put your melee deathstar there (dice willing)"You can control where a unit advances through the map. But if the deepstrikes arrives when the reserve dice wants, and if it scattered where the scatter dice wanted, then it would be fair that the arriving unit charged (whatever the charge dice wanted, after it was Intercepted and Overwatched)
>>95866208Since Line (X) is now a multiplier instead of a boolean (yes/no), you should totally be able to bring non-Line compulsory Inductii

Maybe this isn't the correct thread to ask in, but I'm curious: how difficult is it do basic recasting? Are there any how-to-for-retards guides out there? I got a few forgeworld R&H kits from a recaster to make a militia allied detachment for my SoH, but even if I wanted to do a really basic allied detachment I would probably want like 40 bodies minimum, and frankly I don't feel like buying 40 bodies' worth of shit even at recaster prices. I figure if I could cast molds from the bits I currently have and just use them to make my own recasts, it would be a lot cheaper and quicker in the long run.
>Just 3d print bro
Haven't seen any STLs that match the look of the old forgeworld kits; if there is something floating around out there I'd be keen on that too.
>>95867977try /wip/. I'm interested as well, but I just can't seem to find any silicone for making molds locally, and I can't be assed with imports.
>>95867977it's neither cheap nor easy. Making a silicone mold for each body is expensive and requires practice and for good results carving air-holes/fill-holes and things. To do a whole unit would be several molds. To get less misprintings the better recasts probably also need a machine to shake the molds to get air loose and a vacuum chamber.
I've copied a dwarf cannon for WHFB once but the quality was not there for delicate soldiers and it was not something worth ever doing again with 3d printing existing. It'd be more convenient to create an STL in blender than to recast. Recasting is only a thing for people making 10,000 copies to sell for money, small batches are not worth the silicone and setup.
>>95867970Deepstrike should scatter. Then everything is random, and random is fair
>>95867525glancing hits ignore cover saves entirely FYI. For some reason penetrating hits still have to roll cover saves though.
Having your landraider 80% behind a wall provides exactly zero defense increase against 40 iron warriors krak missile spammers, but probably makes lascannons so-so.
>>95866445Hello anon.
Could you share the rules for the primarch and walker unit type ?
>>95867977i think there is a scan of the older vraks torso not sure if they are decent though. As alternative have you seen davik stuff?
>Discount shop I use only letting me put down for 2 boxes of quad mortars
>I need 3
God damn it.
I'm so close to finishing my army for a final 2.0 event, but I just can't be bothered.
All I need to do is base 3 terminators for a retinue, and finish off a land raider (Mostly weapons and weathering), but it just feels painful.
I want to have a unit that threatens the isolated enemy line unit sitting on other side of the table farming an objective.
Figure it needs to be decently shooty for the initial clearing, and then decently punchy for the retaliation Currently painting up 10 Ultramarine Veterans + a drop pod to do it. Going to load them out with 8 combi volkite and 2 special/heavy weapons. With the drop pod shooting their target unit and giving the squad +1 to hit, they'll probably wreck a 10 man squad's day.
What melee weapons should I then give them? What special weapons or heavy weapons do I go for? And is it worth trying to add in a Legion Harold centurion to give the unit Line?
I was thinking about getting into HH with 3.0. Almost all the feedback from HH content creators seems very negative so far though in regards to the rules? Would it be wise to wait and see what happens rather than buying age of darkness?
>>95868286Content creators are retards, especially the Horus Heresy ones. All are terminally contrarian.
Black Briar Gaming is one of the exceptions. Never listen to O*ter C*rcle
>>95868363>Almost all the feedback from HH content creators seems very negativeHH content creators are faggots who doomsay about everything. They will cry about "we need changes to X", and then when GW makes those changes they'll go "GW has no idea what they are doing; the game is dead". I can't blame them, it is the only way to keep up viewership really.
Buy an Age of Darkness box because the Spartan is a sick centrepiece model to have, and you'll almost certainly use a contemptor in a list sooner or later. 40 marines and 10 terminators are also great. 3.0 looks fine. There's some weirdness to it, like deep strike looking extremely gimped, but it looks like it'll be fun.
>>95868363as someone that actually PLAYS heresy and organises multiple events each year, 3.0 is looking to be the best edition so far.
the only ones mad are powergamers who can't use their OP combos anymore and idiots who bitch about anything anyway (looking at you outer circle)
>>95868363These are content creators.they will usually cry about a few things from time to time in hope that people watching them don't see them as the biggoted fanboys they really are.
They're here for the views and the likes. Nothing more, nothing less.
If anything, watch a 3.0 batrep once they come out and see for yourself.
>>95868363there's no benefit to wasting money now instead of seeing just how trash it is.
I wonder how GW will manage to make Russ and the SW bonkers in this shooting third edition.
>>95868406They get to double their setup move distance because uhhh uhhh wolves run and shit.

>>95868391>3.0 is looking to be the best edition so farSo much change like the revamp of the force org chart is not best edition material at all
>>95868363Pick up a tactical squad box, paint it in the legion you want or do test models for different legions, wait until the rulebook drops, just read the leaks and take it from there. No rush.
What legion(s) do you like?

>>95868418and Dark Angels half because the lion sleeps tonight?
Whatcha working on, anon?
>>95868442Blood Angels, Thousand Sons and Alpha Legion
>>95868363Buy an age of darkness box now because they're about to get disappeared. Even with the rulebook you get a bunch of extra freebies in the box, it's about $200 cheaper than buying everything individually. Worst comes to worst you buy it then sell it if you drop the idea of starting heresy.
>>95868363in the end it is just a game - enjoy the aspect you want to enjoy. You don't need to buy the rules and after buying 6th and 7th ed I will never buy a book from GW again that becomes toilet paper after a couple of months. So I would not suggest that anyways, no matter if the rules are good or bad quality.
There is always the option to play 1.0, 2.0 and One Page Rules with your models.
>>95868458Centurion for my IW. He was originally going to be a Siege Breaker, but decided with the new rules I wanted a suite of dudes ready for the start of the ed.
>>95868472>>95868458Also put my Typhon together (still trying to figure out what sponsons I want to use) and 3 Apothecaries I got from a local 3d printer.
>>95868458I love the guy on the right with the spear
>>95868478Thanks anon, although it turns out the modern melee upgrades don't fit well with the old models (dunno if longer arms or a wider torso), so needed a bit of green stuff work.
Also the way the hands hold the spear are kinda retarded (imagine holding an oar, so working end facing down instead of up) which is why for the other one I just removed the hands entirely.
>>95868472Looking good man
You think we'll get a Mkii command squad? Could mix bitz when the box comes out, but my autism won't let me use the Mkiii arms
>>95868445valrak is also right sometimes, that doesn't change that both of them are retards.
but i'm sure if you simp hard enough you'll get some bathwater from him

>>95868363it's quite telling that the one and only compliment about 3rd edition you'll hear is "it's so incredibly shitty that it makes most people quit"
When that's the one and only compliment you hear, you know it's time to find a different company to buy from.
The PHUCK you mean no charge out of deep strike and flanking assault? A buff to tanks? More shooting and D weapons?
RIP melee armies, this is bullshit.

are there any basic detachment rules? or warlord traits? or any tables as in 2.0 (close combat to hit/to wound?)
>>95868458Bought the 2e starter set the other week, currently working on some Dark Angels. Cannot for the life of me figure out how to do eyes right, especially on the terminators. Does everyone else just paint over mistakes for those or am I supposed to use a smaller brush?
>>95866516PIstol seems scuffed if both weapons need the pistol rule to attack with both.
>>95866650wait so aren't objectives basically worthless when you get double the points for one tactical marine on an objective compared to most of them?
>>95868458Built a Night Lords sky-hunter sergeant that also works as hq on a jetbike
>>95868601Using a smaller brush definitely helps but as with most things when it comes to painting you're very likely just gonna have to paint over mistakes. Try not to get too discouraged by having to correct stuff; painting stuff cleanly and neatly takes time, regardless of what painting videos might try to tell you otherwise.
>>95868594breaching already doesn't auto-wound in 2E. Rending is the only one that auto-wounds. breaching is just a way of chance to get AP2.

What size bases would fit rapiers?
>>95868702I could not possibly care less what the details of mission #3 are because I will never be playing 3rd edition's garbage ruleset with moving lascannons, retarded deepstrike, broken melta and vehicle rules, gay challenge mini-game ruining melee along with 10 other melee nerfs and the nerfing of all existing units just to sell mandatory new shooty-edition-terminators and move-and-shoot rapier spamshit.
Hell, even if someone likes these new terrible rules, the 3 year churn means next edition will probably remove half the things you like, nerf half what you purchase, buff half the units you don't own, then make you spend $300 to get balanced once again. It's just warhammer 10th edition with templates temporarily un-removed.
>You can charge from rhinos but there's still anons bitching about melee being nerfed cuz you can't autocharge from deepstrike

This is a tasteful kitbash, and you managed to make the nuCSM body to not look out of place. But the head does not fit that collar.
It's a common problem, so I'd suggest you put a bald bionic eye dude head as a typical SoH would look.

So when are we getting plastic rapiers for the Solar Auxilia?
>>95868971No, nut unless you're planning to really cover it in dirt and grime. The green is too bright and stands out too much.

Do you play your games outdoors under the high sun of an Australian summer? No, you play them indoors, probably in rooms with artificial lighting, and you store your minis in boxes(I'm assuming the rare person who puts their models on display at home is intelligent enough to have applied museum-grade anti-UV film to the glass). Normal paint & varnish is more than sufficient protection, especially if you're using decent resin.
>>95868445Valrak may have turned me off of the Imperial Fists as a legion because of his smug ass personality but The Outer Circle is just a salt miner. If he finds a gem of truth while digging his hole it's by accident.
>>95868702Becuase there's just as much bad as there is good with a smattering of "different but perhaps for the best?". This is not a new edition of 30k, it's a new edition of a proprietary game that uses 30k models. It's a large departure and without army rules to see if the flavor still exists we can't make a final judgement.
