I am running a TORG game set in the Nile Empire. Specifically on the border of Core Earth and Nile in Libya if anyone cares.

As such, one of pulp villains they are facing is KKKlown and his legion of racist apes. Who has captured his nemesis (Cyborg Love Machine) that followed him from Terra. The group will be asked to rescue Cyborg Love Machine and any ogher captives

Here is where I am stuck. Should they be orangutangs or gorillas? I was going to make them Nazis but am open to other themes in the same vein

One of the most memorable parts of Feng Shui's cyber-monkey Jammer faction is their pun names. Characters like Furious George and the Battlechimp Potemkin.
Consider whether you can mash together ape names/words/etc and the group(s) you are using for inspiration. If you're willing to misuse scientific terminology you can get more puns in there, like the Affen-SS (Schutz Simian). If you wanna take KKK stuff, they loved adding Ks to stuff, so your racist apes could wear kapes and also be referred to AS kapes, apes who have taken up the kape.
I think "Korang Klutan" sounds like a decent, kinda-funny name for the racist apes, so I'd say maybe go with orangs. Orangs also have more distinctive face-shapes with their cheek pads, which could play into their masks and iconography as a group.

Useful ape science info in pic related, for closeness of relation. Hominoids contain Hominids contain Hominins. It's like meteroids and meteors and meteorites, except I can never remember how those go either.

Hylobatids is basically all gibbons, which are more closely related to us and other great apes than other monkeys iirc. Whether Gibbons are part of the racist ape team or not is your call.

Monkeys are split into Old World and New World monkeys. Old World monkeys are more closely related to the apes than they are to New World monkeys.
Most new world monkeys have broad noses with sideways-facing nostrils - so nose-based racism is totally on the table, too.

I'm glad to be of assistance. Honestly when you have the kind of atmosphere that "racist orang-utans in TORG" brings, you cannot over-do the puns. If I think of any more I'll post 'em.

Obviously the leader ape or greatest ape should be a white/albino/cave ape.

Oh, the Kape could also be called the Kloth, possibly as a verb. Taking the Kloth, like how becoming a monk/non is "taking the cloth".

Kling Klong is a terrible name that will make your players laugh, which means it fits for TORG.

Are you running for the same group I am? This group named an all ascendant party after the first English phrase they heard. I started them at a gun fight at a taco truck.

Thus were born Cheese, Nachos, Extra, Queso and Sauce. Two of them died over the course of the game. They were more upset over trying to match a new name than tbeir characters dying
