You DO dress up at the table, right?

Is it true what they say about LARPing?

Yes, but I've been told my Spider-man mask doesn't really fit the tone of the game

I can think of several systems where that's perfectly appropriate attire, starting with Fiasco.

Heavily thought about doing it for VtM, but with fantasy settings its just unfeasible or I'm playing a character that is too exposed to really make their look work without being more built. Guess thats good gym motivation tho

For an in-person, one shot game I sometimes will, especially if it's for something like a convention. Throwing some set dressing around and having props for people to wear and handle can serve to get people in the mood to do proper RP. I remember running a Delta Green game set during the Vietnam War, where I gave all my players helmets and either webbing or flak jackets to wear, threw some tunes on and covered the walls in camo netting and period posters. It was a good time.

I also LARP so I have lots of random kit kicking around anyway which makes it easier

That sounds based, wish I could play in a game like that. My players would never dress up.

Period appropriate silly hats are one of the underappreciated little treats of historical wargaming

I once played a game of Risk with everyone wearing a piece of military headgear. It significantly added to the game

My niece and her friends (8th & 9th grade) all do, every single week. My niece is the DM. I'm so fucking proud.
