Most of the Chrustmas ones.
Trogg for hire probably being #1
Would someone be so kind as to share Call of Archaeon, if they have it? Part one, Beneath the Black Thumb, is all I ask. Ebook, pdf, audio, idc.
>>95900831He just needs to walk it off right
>>95900831YOU MISSED THE THIRD PAGE.
painting up my unit of chaos knights has unironically made me want to ditch StD. each model has as much detail as a character model and has to be made in sub assemblies because of awkward painting angles, not to mention the sheer amount of edge highlighting that needs to be done.
I BELIEVE IN THE RULE OF COOL
>>95901098Get acrylic markers, they might help.
>>95901098>edge highlighting
>cathay is insanely broken
gonna be interesting to see how the grogs handle this one
>>95900836files dot fm/u/hrfp52vvg7
>>95901149Itโs legitimately a deal breaker army from what little Iโve seen. Theyโre almost playing a different game. Itโs a literal amplification of all the issues the game had at the start.
>>95901149Theyโre gonna whine about it having to be strong because of the โChinese sensitivity teamโ dictating that they have to be that strong or some other retarded complaint. Because thatโs all they ever do is bitch and moan. Old good, new bad.
>>95901199It does look like 2e release Slaanesh or 7e Daemons of Chaos levels of broken.
>generic cathayan swords you can give every character for 4 points give +1S -1AP strike first
KEK LOL LMAO
>>95901288it sounds like they learned the lesson of the gitmob launch
>>95901098Painting up my Freeguild Cavaliers has convinced me I should expand my CoS Spearhead into a full army. They have a ton of detail and different textures but most of the small ones are easily done with a drop of Contrast and I'm very happy with the results
>>95901098Making the riders separate from horses, would solve all of the problems I have with chaos knights.
Ironically, varanguard are much easier to handle due to lack of capes
>>95898836If that's true, then GW is keeping a tighter lid on a big release wave than usual, the 3rd ed box leaked like a sieve.
Best we have is Valarak saying 'yeah Chorfs have a box with stuff and things in it'.
>>95902585>Best we have is Valarak saying 'yeah Chorfs have a box with stuff and things in it'.That's mostly because that living caricature of a Space Marine collector literally only cares about Space Marines. He could be shown the entire AoS release schedule for 4th edition and he'd either gloss over it quickly in a video about a new lieutenant announcement or not say a word about it.
>>95902689Definitely, which is why I don't give it much credence since word-of-mouth about Chorfs is a dime-a-dozen but no-one has seen fit to snap a cheeky phone pic yet.
What does Alarielle think of Teclis's abandoned firstborn race the Idoneth?
What about the other aelven Gods like Morathi, Malerion, and Tyrion?
>>95902740>What does Alarielle think of Teclis's abandoned firstborn race the Idoneth? She actually works with them from time to time, despite a small ugly chapter a bit farther back. She's had some Sylvaneth come enhance the Chorellium of Briomdar to try and help with the IDK's curse or at least give them better lives or something like that.
>What about the other aelven Gods like Morathi, Malerion, and Tyrion?Morathi sent her Shadowstalkers to the Deepkin temple deep in the AoS equivalent of the Mariana Trench to steal Ocarian Lantern which was originally used by Teclis to draw forth the first souls of those that would become the Cythai. Which was how she was able to consume so many noble souls when she teleported into Slaanesh's belly. Then she gave it back to Volturnos, albeit broken and not shining like it used to, but full of Cythai souls that Teclis had managed to purge. They have a tentative alliance.
Malerion...we don't know shit about besides a few vague snippets and him calling Morathi a slut after taking Anvilgard.
Tyrion persuaded Teclis to not eradicate the Deepkin and let them escape. I don't think he minds them much, but LRL and IDK probably work together about as much as they fight eachother.
>>95901303What's wrong with Gitmob?
>>95902872Really, really under powered rules.
>>95901149I am gonna buy and paint several miao yings and give one to each of my favorite minis as wives.
>>95902872Underpowered rules + overpriced models means neither competitive or casual players are inclined to pick them up.
anyone have the cities of sigmar battletome from 3e?
>>95901149I'm supporting the French guy that makes sexy girl minis because he made sexy Cathay girls.
Oh yes, I'm gonna be that guy.
>>95902999Raging Heroes?I have quite a lot of their minis. I honestly think their older stuff is better. Though ironically, I kind of wish it was digital so that it could be scaled up maybe 15%.One of the sculptors that used to make stuff for them is at Creature Caster.
>>95903013Yes, Raging Heroes. It's their digital subscription service.
Although if I'm being honest, it's mostly for the dark elves. I'm a sucker for their style of sexy evil elf wench.
I think I am going to buy a Cathay army. The models look sweet. Ill use them for CoS proxies but their rules look cool in old world too. Might have to finally give that a try too.
What happened to the wild orruks? Were they eliminated?
>>95902872>>95902878>>95902899Also a different aesthetic from the rest of the Gloomspite so people who like them would probably like to run an all-Gitmob army, but the army rule actively punishes you for doing that.
>>95903045Just remember, every shugengan you field is canonically the result of Miao fucking some random human dude.
Until they release the other dragons, and then you can field their human brats.
>>95903030I think the issue I have with their current line up is actually the opposite of when they were only producing resin and metal. The details, like the shield especially in your pic, are too chunky because they have to be 3D printed. I'm definitely not against printing, but I do with that digital sculptors would accept that they can't just print a full model. Break it into parts so things can be fitted together after printing. So some details can fit better. So you don't have to clean supports in places they shouldn't be.
>>95903053>every shugengan you field is canonically the result of Miao fucking some random human dudeUm like you said aren't there a bunch of dragon kids in the lore? It could be Miao's kid but it could also be her niece/nephew.

>>95903062It's her expeditionary force. Would she risk Zhao's little girl or bring her own idiot failson?
>>95903062It's probably like ten generations removed from whatever dragon they're related to anyway
>>95903082>Would she risk Zhao's little girl or bring her own idiot failson?Don't they all have a fuck load of kids? Like didn't the Dragon Emperor mandate that his kids fuck humans and impregnate them/get impregnated by them to make more dragon blooded?
>>95903030I watched a Youtube video where this lady reviewed the armor on the Cathay models and talked about the historical influences, and she was really impressed with how they used mountain armor. It's probably mythical but it shows up a lot on artistic depictions of gods or famous heroes. So with the Cathay range, GW only put it on powerful heroes and the stone guardians.
They didn't just go "oh cool weird Chinese thing, let's slap that everywhere" they actually learned more about the context of it and used that to build the visual language of the army.
Anyway, I was just reminded of that by seeing that third party guy putting mountain armor on basic ass troops
>>95903092They do in fact breed with humans like rabbits.
Does anyone have the 3rd Flesh-Eater Battletome?
>>95903096At least link the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tGr5ZBawDeU&t=76s&ab_channel=LoricaClothing
She is great if you are interested in armour/armour design history in general not just Chinese.
So... Is AOS essentially dead?
Is GWS dumping us for TOW ?
>>95903149As I have told others before here and in wfg. It's not a competition. AoS and TOW are completely different games. They complement GW port not clash against one another.
>>95903096>They didn't just go "oh cool weird Chinese thing, let's slap that everywhere" they actually learned more about the context of it and used that to build the visual language of the army. This was probably due to the consultations with their Chinese sensitivity team, which TOW grogs would have you believe is some evil plot to only depict China in a good light and promote pro-China shit and whatever else they can blame on them. Having consideration for your cultural inspirations in design just makes your end product overall better when it makes sense to the people it's inspired by.
>>95903165>which TOW grogs would have you believe is some evil plot to only depict China in a good light and promote pro-China shit and whatever else they can blame on To be fair Cathay is glazed to a degree that not even High Elves are in Fantasy. We need to wait for the book to see the extent of the lore but everything they have written so far has been about how Cathay is the best at everything. Feels very much like jerking off China.
>>95903149If they were, they might've actually released a full army for Cathay. One infantry unit, one cavalry unit, a couple of artillery units, and a couple monsters is not a full army.
>>95903176To be fair every faction gets glazed in their marketing matierial and lore books.
>>95903218I wish Morathi would glaze me
I donโt hate kruelboyz but I feel like theyโre missing something.
>>95903687Can have that in plastic.
RIP Bam Margera. aosg salutes you
>>95903667> but I feel like theyโre missing something.yeah, cavalry, monstrous infantry, elite melee infantry, they're just straight up missing like half the unit types for no reason, despite having heroes for them like the gnashtoof boss.
>>95903599Sandwich glaze between Morathi, Alarielle, and Miao Ying.
>>95903092That, and they fucked horses for Longma
>>95903667Splitting Orcs from Goblins was a costly mistake
>>95904050...but kruleboyz have goblins
>>95904075Hob grotz.
I hate the 40k naming.
>>95904185if somethings as simple as that triggers you, this really isnt your game.
>>95904241Zoomers have destroyed the concept of language if "I dislike these changes" to mean le epic triggering or whatever the fuck.
>>95904185No, they have regular Grots too you fucking tourist
>>95904259one of age of sigmars central themes was reimaging and evolving the fantasy races from the ground up. this includes renaming like aelf, duardin, orruk, grot, etc, but also goes much deeper with bald aquatic aelves, skinny clever orruks who prefer ranged weaponry, duardin who no longer tunnel underground but instead live in the skies on floating cities and balloons, and so on.
so yeah, if you're getting hung up just on the naming, wait until you see what they did with inverting all the standard fantasy tropes. unironcally trigger warning for your sensitive ass.
>>95904326>reimaging and evolving the fantasy races from the ground upWhich is why it recycled everything and just copied names from 40k.
It's really lazy.
>>95903030Raging heroes are doing Cathay? Fuck yes.
I like the basic GW troops just fine but I'll definitely print some of their heroes for my "Cathay as Lumineth" project
Here's my Light of Eltharion proxy sorted.
>>95904407>Raging heroesTheir models are fucking shit. I bought, like a fool, their not!SoB years ago. They were terrible.
>>95904492titanforge did some cathay looking stuff forever ago called like dragon empire. might be worth a look. it was somewhat japanese chinese fusion though, not pure chinese
>>95904492>their models are shitThat's unfortunate, I've looked but never actually bought one.
How were they bad, poor modeling or bad materials/manufacturing?
If it was the latter then the newer ones should be better since they are just 3D printable STL's
>>95904527If I was going to get Cathay I'd just get GW's stuff one way or another. Be it recaster or 3rd party 25% off. The issue I have with proxies is these faggots have skill to make models but instead of trying to make their own setting or range they just do 0.95:1 copies of Warhammer and it is so fucking boring. There is one guy who does art for the models of a company and hidden in his range are some actual stuff GW doesn't do. It just makes you go 'Wow I wish they'd do an entire faction of unseen stuff'.
>>95904533They weren't STL so maybe the STL are better and of course this was years ago during their 1st(?) attempt. The issue was they weren't as high quality as I had hoped. I know all these proxy companies cheat by showing the 3D model 'painted' to make it look great and well detailed, but these were just poor quality, bordering on old GW metal models where details merge into each other. If I can find them I'll take a picture. Maybe I got screwed because I seem to remember there were options for material choices and maybe I picked the wrong one or got the wrong one, but it soured me.
You may have better luck and your one seems to be a different range entirely so you prob could produce better if you're prooonting.
>8 months since GW last remembered Warcry
It's ogor.
>>95904547>The issue I have with proxies is these faggots have skill to make models but instead of trying to make their own setting or range they just do 0.95:1 copies of Warhammer and it is so fucking boring.I feel you, but unfortunately the knock-off warhammer shit sells.
>>95904625I would kill to be able to draw well and quickly and model. I'd make my own setting. Sure it'd be magical realm, but fuck it if I had the skill I'd do it. So now I'm left coping and hoping that GW will realise that Araby, Nippon, Khuresh, Ind and Amazons are worth making proper armies (Araby had a proper army.... in Warmaster and Nippon had a proper army... in 1st.... Amazons had a proper army.... in 4th). In fact get Creative Assembly to do it because the result was GW designed and wrote the entire faction anyway. CA being able to sell four more armies....
>>95904621I wake up in a puddle of my own sweat
I can still feel the gnarlwoods around me
Choking me with their mere presence
Whenever I turn, the trees seem to move
I thought I'd be used to it, years in ghyran
But here it's different, it's all dead quiet
As when holding a breath before a shot
And I find myself holding my breath too
But I'm not shooting and so I'm afraid
I'm afraid I'm not the one hunting here
It's only the trees that are always silent
And so are the people
>>95904621>warcry dead>underworlds lives
>>95904658Is that a Silent Ones reference?
>>95904667Underworlds fills a niche still. Warcry is kind of being usurped by Spearhead.
I agree that I wish it had been the other way around too and Underworlds had died.
>>95904677>Underworlds fills a niche still. Warcry is kind of being usurped by Spearhead.I guess the Warcry leaned too hard into bespoke teams where Spearhead actually builds you toward the main game.
>>95904677>>95904667As per a few months ago, I believe (but not sure) there is a transgender lady working at GW on several new games. White Dwarf said 'several new secret projects'. As far as I know, one of these is AoS version of Mordheim set in Cinderfall.
As for the other games? Well my copium is BFG game of some sort. In 2014(?) GW announced the creation of their new Specialist Game Studio and said they were working on remaking BFG but nothing has happened. So I assume they're doing it but maybe making it bigger or HH only for cheapness. Who knows.
>>95904688Spearhead really is a brilliant marketing tactic. Selling two boxes side by side for each faction that puts you lost of the way to a full army is exactly the kind of way you slippery-slope someone into the big game.
>>95904695>BFG game of some sortI'd love some version of it set in AoS.
>>95904704It's also unironically a good game. Like, Spearhead is fucking fun to play. The card system where you pick between objectives and gameplay bonuses is great, leading to difficult decisions constantly, and the AoS rules are just intuitive and simple while allowing for interesting things to happen. The spearheads themselves are also generally very nice, with good models and just enough complexity that you can spend a few games just learning how to play it differently.
I've been playing the SCE one from the starter set a fair amount, and I've discovered new uses for their once-per-game run and charge ability several times.
>>95904704too bad the big game isn't spearhead
>>95904709How would that work? If you mean Man'O'War remake then the issue still remains that factions are forgotten and logic goes out the window (such as how IDK don't just rape everybody).
>>95904677>Warcry is kind of being usurped by Spearhead.Warcry is as similar to Spearhead as underworlds is, they're completely different games? Spearhead is not a skirmish game, it's a low-points version of aos, there is absolutely no overlap between the two beyond both technically using less models than a full 2k aos game.
>>95904720now that they have the pictured objective plates for the main game, you can literally just use the spearhead scoring rules, tactics and twists deck, you should be able to directly port it 1 to 1 now
>>95904688Nah Spearhead and Warcry are so different.
Underworlds is gay and should have been cancelled
>>95904723>How would that work?Pretty straightforwardly, I imagine. Factions vie for control of the skies, the moons, the stars and the void and they variously have means to navigate and project power in these theaters.
>>95904783So the one unique thing about the Seraphon, having giant spaceships is immediately nullified and everybody has spaceships. OK.
>>95904747>>95904756This is true but the issue is GW don't want a skirmish game for its own sake, they went a skirmish game to push competitors out of the market. Is there a fantasy skirmish game that's currently popular or is it low model count unit based games like Warcrow?
I think Spearhead is their new focus because Kill Team attracts skirmish players (generally, not setting specific) whereas Spearhead captures the low model count games that funnel players into larger games.
We're due a new edition of Warcry soon so if we hear little between now and August it's over
>>95901149aw man i need to know
what broken about them?
>>95904695source?
>transgender ladyoh nvm you're schizo
>>95904709>lets copy another system's game with an aos reskin instead of playing on the actual strengths of aos as a setting
>>95904783AOS giving every faction star ships and slowly turning into more fantastic smaller scale 40k would be a really weird direction to try to take things.
>>95904873I'm not sure what you mean. What's wrong with the system that it doesn't play to the strengths of AoS as a setting? Its simulationist system may seem clunky relative to the more gamist system of mainline AoS, but that's also why I think it would be cool to see it combined with this setting.
Something I find a bit worrying is that the last "AoSified" army we got was Lumineth, all the way back in 2nd edition.
Everything since then has been more conventional and less stylized and experimental, with the last few major releases being so conservative that they seem almost like old world models (Darkoath, Skaven, Gitmob, Soulblight skellies)
I for one want more Cow mountains, Bonereapers, Eel cavalry, airship dwarves etc, not less.
>>95904940By the sound of it Chorfs are going to be AoSified into clockwork soldiers instead of the old style
>>95904940The goblin chariots are pretty wacky, as was the first wave of new Soulblight models with Lauka Vai and all the cursed city dudes. FEC are also definitely AoS with the judge guy and so on.
>>95904948>Chorfs are going to be AoSified into clockwork soldiersI wish some heroic warehouse employee would snap a picture of the Chorfs already (assuming they exist) just so the Chorf redesign rumors can end one way or the other.
>>95904940its sad but those armies havent had a substantial second wave since they came out (i know lumineth got a second wave soon after they came out but that was preplanned) , i imagine its because they just arent that popular? but liikee seen plenty of lumineth and idoneth players so idk
>>95904940You forgot kruleboyz, the new cities of sigmar, and while flesh eater courts have their origins in old ghouls I think their aos delusion angle makes them different enough. And was slaanesh before or after lumineth ? Their aesthetic is also pretty distinctly aos.
But I can see where you're coming from. I think it comes down to old ranges having a solid defined aesthetic and broad model ranges, plus a pre-existing playerbase already in place to capitalize on. Releasing a brand new army is riskier from a business perspective, better to prioritize releases for older armies which need updating.
>>95905003I didn't forget Kruleboyz I just think they are a bit old worldy, and new CoS is just fantasy cadians, a redesign of the empire yes but pretty conservative.
I must admit though that I completely forgot about the AoS Slaanesh release.
I do wish Fyreslayers, Deepkin, OBR, DoK, Khorne and KO get their second waves asap
>>95905045I'm still very surprised Deepkin got three foot heroes instead of a single new unit. They have twice as many heroes as actual units.
>>95904940One thing I miss is the strong art deco style of early SCE.
>>95905045Mhyea I find cos and kruleboyz a lot more AoS-y than old worldish but I can see where you're coming from.
And yes a second wave would help all those armies out immensely. Right now if you want any variety in your 2k list you're practically bringing the entire range for any of those factions. All idk lists look the same if you're not spamming eels for example.
>>95905045I don't really think there's anything old worldy about them at all, it's just that kruleboyz and nu-cos are "grimy" or grimdark gritty or whatever in comparison to a lot of the over the top heroic fantasy stuff. I also wouldn't say many releases besides those specific two have felt similar in vibe
What is the current status of chaos beasts and wild orruks in the lore?
>>95905141Bonesplitterz are being drawn toward the edges of the realms like moths to a light.
As or beasts the chaos gods are demanding they pick sides and choose a god to follow, so the great brayherds are no more.
>>95905141They're dead, Jim.
>>95905141beasts:
>they were empowered and emboldened by the beating of ghur in the era of the beast and went out in the open en mass (side effect of the rampage of kragnos)>then suddenly the beating stopped and they're now left without that support, in the open and sorrounded (when kragnos got tricked back into a cage)>they got slaughtered, driven back, and the chaos gods started calling dibs on them to make god-aligned versions (pestigors soon according to rumors)>those few that have survived are hiding, waiting for a moment to strike back, the herald of morghur has an ember of its essence to revitalise in due time (gavespawn reinvention eventually)orcs:
>deemed too racist for this world and condemned to go kill themselves at the edges of the realms and against skaven
>>95905204But they will come back in the future with new miniatures and lore, right?
>>95905141Bonesplitterz: pilgrimage to the realms' edge in the hopes it will calm the disturbance in the waaagh. Others took the fight to Skaven in the gnaw.
Beasts of Chaos: retreating to their original domains, the depths of woodlands, places of corruption. Morghur followers soonโข, Gorraghan Khai escaped with primordial Morghur goop
Sacrosanct: recalled to office jobs, though Astreia and others refused and rebelliously continue their quest
>>95905242Beastmen maybe. It's hard to see a world where Bonesplitters are allowed to come back though, even TOW is too scared to support them with actual models/art/lore.
>>95905242beastmen yes, bonesplitterz no because Ironjawz stole their concepts anyway
>>95905242beastmen, maybe, possibly, if gw wraps their head around an army of chaos spawns.
savage orcs are doomed, at best you get more ironjaws with less armors like the shaman and wreckas.
>>95905242Perhaps the wild orruks will return in the distant future as a new faction with a totally different and new lore, as happened to the space dwarves of 40k.
>>95905395Squats weren't problematic for gw's sensibility teams.
>>95905242I'm of the opinion that if beastmen come back it'll need to be a ground-up reinvention. Something drastic like moving them to destruction.
They need to get out of the warriors of chaos's shadow.
>>95905482I don't understand what the problem is with wild orcs, context please.
>>95905488>beasts in destructionThen maybe Kragnos will finally belong somwhere
>>95905518They now get perceived as a racist caricature of african tribal people.
>>95905488>>95905526GW would sooner make kragnos a faction of centaurs than reinvent beastmen to fit in destruction, there's too many years of baggage attached to beastmen to sever them from chaos, despite making them a slightly more neutral force instead of something overly aligned to chaos being absolutely the correct idea.
>>95904709this book establishes that every race has at least some kind of airship. It will never happen, but a Dreadfleet style board game about blimp combat in the Mortal Realms would be sick
>>95905526Beasts of Destruction? I guess it could work. After all, they fit well into the Destruction faction and the Kingdom of Ghur, but they would have to be entirely new races to distance themselves from the Chaos factions.
>>95904948>Chorfs are going to be AoSified into clockwork soldiersThis is based entirely on Valrak trying to describe something that isn't Space Marines.
Valrak is broadly trustworthy on rumors, but the man literally doesn't know anything about Warhammer outside of Space Marines. We can believe the thing about the box coming soon, but not any of the details he gave
>>95905615It would be interesting to see what the airships of the other races would be like.
>>95905642It describes human ships as being driven by sails, and therefore pretty slow and not very maneuverable. Stormcast airships are, predictably, very shiny and fast. There's also a goblin airship held up by a giant inflated Squig, like all the fanmade Grotbag Scuttler conversions
>>95905642I know there are some examples already in the fluff. Like skaven blimps and gitmob squig-balloons.
>>95905631Agreed on Valrak, but the "clockwork" rumor is much older than him, I want to say it came from HWG originally but I'm not sure.
>>95905559I guess it's a total and absolute F for them. But their output would have to be filled with a new faction, such as introducing the pirate orcs.
>>95905559>[Citation needed]
>>95905725There won't be such a thing
2 types of goblins for the moon guys and the sun guys
2 types of orcs for the gorky guys and the morky guys
there's no space for anyone else, next on the chopping block are forest goblins, replaced by night goblins who will appropriate their spiders
>>95905736>Memory holed, new plastic models sent straight to the GW incinerator, announced that they WOULD NOT be moved over to TOW, literally the only time this has happened.>TOW begrudgingly allows you to play them as an unexplained "upgrade" for normal orcs, but with strict limits, NO models, NO photos, NO Art, NO lore entries.Obviously GW isn't ever going to come out and say "We decided our models that we've sold for decades are super racist, actually" but there were plenty of people outside the company pushing that outlook and Bonesplitters remain unprecedented as a sudden erasure for modern GW.
>>95905749That makes sense. After all, the Ogors are also divided into those who walk and those who ride, so it would be a new Gargant faction.
>>95905782giants aren't a real faction, they don't get a branch

>>95905559Only racists think this, so no. Spiderfang are explicitly an offensive native american reference and persist as did Bonesplitterz, with new models, until last year and will in TOW eventually
I've found out what orruks, and more importantly, what destruction needs. Its music. All of the kits lack musicians, or pretty much all of them.
>>95905724I'm hoping they mean industrial revolution but nerds don't know anything anymore so they just saw some gears and their only point of reference was steampunk.
>>95905816Have you ever looked at a destruction infantry kit?
>>95905642Would you like to see miniatures of the airships of the other races released or not?
>>95905815>Only racists think thisExactly, but they think they're being anti-racist by removing them.
>Spiderfang are explicitly an offensive native american reference and persistUntil they won't persist anymore soon enough.
>Bonesplitterz in TOW eventuallyNo, they won't come back in tow, they made sure of it by not even giving them their own unit profile, just a rule for normal orcs, meaning they got themselves away from the necessity of providing a kit for the profile.
>>95905833No, I try not to.
>>95905847Bonesplitterz have rules in TOW you muppet

>>95905855Can you even fucking read?
>>95905847>not even giving them their own unit profile, just a rule for normal orcs
>>95905847I wouldn't like the wild orcs and goblins to be eliminated, but the way things are going, their best way to survive would be for them to be assimilated by the other orc and goblin factions.
>>95905847You could have just said "my gut tells me this is why that happened" instead of spending an hour trying to argue that the wind in the trees reveals the inner deliberations of a traditional games company.
>>95905864You really can't. Because "forest goblins" "goblin mobs" and "the light armour upgrade" aren't things in this game
sorry, noob question. On the Battle profiles it says that the Darkoath heroes can lead 0-1 Monster and any Darkoath. Chaos Spawn are Beasts, not Monsters. So that means you can't put Chaos Spawn in a regiment run by a Darkoath hero, right?
Hey, does anyone know when the 5th edition will come out, what it will be about, what new races will be introduced, and which of the existing ones will receive a new edition?
>>959059402027
stormcasts vs zombies
droghuks
all of them
>>95905940I can tell you it's probably about two years way almost to the day and it will have Stormcast in it. So don't expect any more rumors or "leaks" for at least another 12-18 months.
>>95905940The game is on a three year edition cycle, so barring any massive disruption to the economy that might force GW to change that, the next edition will be released summer 2027.
We are reasonably certain that Chaos Dwarfs will be introduced this edition. There are no rumors about what will be introduced next edition. People can make guesses based on stuff that currently exists in the lore, but that would just be wishcasting.
All existing armies will receive new Battletomes next edition, with the possible exception of Ogors.
>>95905961>>95905940Oh yeah, and they rotate through Grand Alliances and 2nd, 3rd, and 4th were Death, Destruction , and Chaos respectively. So expect a Death faction in the starter box. Ossiarchs are currently the most anemic Death faction but we haven't seen their release for this edition yet.
>>95904326Itโs always so interesting to me that other settings and IPโs can have โlegally distinctโ names for races, but when AoS does it, itโs a fucking crime and theyโre โcorporate slave namesโ.
>>95905970>ogresBaka, itโs fyreslayers that are in the limbo zone.
>>95905978warhammer was already fine with having generic names for its races and already had in-setting specific names for them too
waking up one day to say that your ogres are actually called ogors now is not just retarded, it's downright insulting
>>95905992the current rumor is that Fyreslayers will get a less Fyreslayery expansion and the Tome will be renamed to cover a broader swathe of Duardin that includes but is not limited to Fyreslayers.
Which I think is very believable and the best thing to do for the army.
>>95906018Yeah, I don't really see this a bad thing. If anything it solves a lot of problems for their army range.
>>95906000In fairness it is a completely different setting. They were called Ogres in Fantasy but than world blew up and now we're on crazy magic planes that are alive and now they're called Ogors.
>>95906018That's not a rumor, that's your speculation.
the only rumor is that they're not getting a tome, and that they might be removed altogether like beastmen.
>>95906039>the only rumor is that they're not getting a tomethat's literally the first half of the rumor. The rumor is that there won't be a Fyreslayers Battletome....
...there will be a new Battletome that includes Fyreslayers.
>>95906030>In fairness it is a completely different settingThat just so happens to have everything almost exactly the same including a number of characters and various other hyperspecific things.
Remind me again how ogre is more likely to change into ogor than kharibdyss is to change into something else?
>>95905976because that of death should be the faction of order.
>>95906057No, this
>...there will be a new Battletome that includes Fyreslayersis not a rumor that can be found anywhere at all, let alone by the same guy who told us they won't be getting a tome, you may think someone reliable said it, but you're prey to your copes and a game of telephone about speculations and wishlists.
>>95906062Everything is (TM) topsy-turvey in the World of Wehrhammer.
>>95906062Because when AoS launched GW wanted to keep Ogres going as an army but didn't really give a shit about the Dark Elfs. So Ogors got the new fluff and new name and Battletome, while GW just kept selling Dark Elf stuff as is until somebody came up with the Cities idea.
>>95906077You have to actually post the original source of the rumor at this point if you're going to keep arguing about it.
>>95906094Your argument doesn't hold up because they renamed cold ones and dark elves, among other things.
Which faction is most likely to go on permanent vacation with the savage orcs and beastmen?
>>95906104OK they got halfway through the Dark Elfs and gave up
>>95906103https://www.tga.community/profile/19224-whitefang-back-me-up/
>>95906111Dark elf portion of CoS. Some more fatcast stuff when 5e rolls around.
Will the 5th edition have a cinematic trailer?
>>95906111ogres, fyreslayers, spiderfangs, extremis chamber, vanguard chamber, and the remaining old nonhuman stuff in cities of sigmar. them some older units scattered here and there in some factions.
but there are good chances that ogres see a range update, fyreslayers get reinvented next edition, spiders get redone so that they're ridden by moonclan, that a few of those fatcasts units get a primaris rework, and that umbraneth get finally released at the same time as dark elves get removed.
Which faction is the most popular and sells the most and which is the least popular and sells the least?
>>95906186My faction
Your faction
>>95906186we don't have that kind of data, we only have the size of reddit subforums and the numbers of participants at some tournaments.
But reddit doesn't filter for people who actually buy the faction's products, and some factions have fans beyond the miniatures and tabletop game itself, furthermore we know for a fact that the attendance of some factions at tournaments is influenced by how cheap the army is to collect as well as how strong it is in the meta, and faction popularity at large is influenced by the size of the products for it available as much as how recent their last big release has been and whether they were available in the starter boxset.
with these nebulous considerations in mind, skaven vampires, stormcast and chaos undivided seem very popular, while fyreslsyers and idoneth seem very unpopular
>>95906191for the casual public and fans in general
>>95906186Stormcast is definitely the most popular, though only by a marginal amount. It's not like 40k where Space Marines are in owned by 50% of the player base.
Stormcast sell well though. They're as popular as some of the less popular 40k Armies.
Does anyone know what Malerion (Malekith) is doing right now?
>>95906269Borders wars with Tyrion.
>>95906269Playing WoW Classic in his gooncave

>>95906269All of the above
>>95906269Peeking through the backdoor of sigmar's gladitorium into the female stormcasts' steamy changing room.
So Malerion has been the least active god of all? It's no wonder his faction (the Daughters of Khaine) doesn't worship him as their main god.
>>95906375the khainites have no relation to malerion, he's not khaine and he's not morathi, they simply have their main territories in the plot of land in ulgu, his realm, that malerion gifted to his mother.
>>95906375Itโs funny you say malerion is the least active god, and then you mention daughters of khaine. Because, well, khaine is literally what one would call in stasis.
>>95906415>what one would call in stasisnigga, he's fucking dead, morathi carries around his heart to periodically drain it on the off chance he might stop being dead
>>95906404Will Malerion one day have his own faction to lead or will he remain a mere spectator all the time?
>>95906506Possibly by the end of this edition, yes.
But then again, we've been speculating his faction was right behind the corner for almost 10 years now.
>>95906522He's riding the dragon right behind the mountain Anon! He's right there!
>>95906580I'm still honestly baffled by whatever the fuck that is, it's clearly something, but what.
Could Sigmar and the other gods of order defeat the gods of the other factions?
>>95906601All the gods of order, destruction and death were once united against chaos and lost.
>>95906617They lost specifically because they weren't united.
>>95906623They hadn't won prior to that and the split was chiefly because they were losing so it still stands
AoS orcs and goblins reproduce by fungi like their Fantasy and 40K counterparts, or they do so in the beastman style.

You have micro missions and very unique mission objectives/play styles that are cool ideas but are constantly fighting the dogshit simplified DoW3 thing.
The mission that most shows that off is one where you sneak into a Dawnbringer settlement as a couple kruleboyz and have to sabotage it from the inside. Itโs a a cool idea, but any time you accidentally get locked into combat with a patrolling unit you have to press the retreat button (the only way to leave combat) and then watch your squishy shaman haul ass in a straight line across the entire map, through all the enemy vision zones and taking a hit or two from each as he Sonic the hedgehog speeds around, so he can reach the starting point of the map and give you control back again. Missions like that just make it so obvious that even the team making it mustโve known the dow3 thing sucks, but the need to appeal to some fake idea of console players prevented them from course correcting

>>95911381I remember enjoying it very much. I still preferred 2nd edition core rules but the 1st edition has a special place in my heart.
>>95911562>>95911581it's just a weird attention to detail like tauralon/gryphcharger sheaths
>>95911618>GW made people so used to their poor quality and lack of details that now they find the presence of obvious details "weird"Grim.
Age of Sigmar had a terrible start but slowly recovered to become the success it is today, so do you think the same could happen with The Old World?
>>95911772This is a nonsensical sentiment. AoS launched as a new setting/system and expanded naturally as elements were released.
In no scenario was AoS going to launch as a new setting with new armies complete out of the gate.
>muh points WHFB didn't launch with points.
>>95910464>Asset flipI'd say it's half of content from TWW for destruction and some parts od chaos and death
Most of the order stuff would have to be made from scratch
>>95910396CA has ran out of their fans goodwill and their publishers patience to risk releasing flops with low demand.
40k is the only way to go.

Would you like to see an animated series based on the mini comics of roll models?
Still no sign of the Soulblight PDF? Really just after the PtG section if anyone has it

Does anyone have the Battletome of the Wild Orcs 1 Edition?
>>95912088What the fuck are wild orcs?
>>95912133dem unga bunga greeners

>>95912160I hadn't realized that
I wish we kept Ardboys as distinct from Ironjawz proper. If they kept the uncanny military discipline they had until Dawnbringers we could've gotten crossbows, warmachines, etc now they're just midget retard sidekicks
Got the new Spearhead box, so the coffin only is used if you play diagonal deployment and Neffy's tits only if you get the twist on one board side...
>>95912209>crossbows, warmachinesyou got kruleboys for that
>but I don't like kruleboysthen convert your ardboys crossbows and bolt thrower, ya git
>>95912209Military discipline? That doesn't fit with the Orruks (Ironjaw)
>>95911951I'm a bit of a dum dum, not sure how to access this
>>95911951Ignore me, I got it, massive thank you
I never liked the Kruleboys, they seem like they came from Lord of the Rings, not to mention that they replaced the Bonesplitter.
I like the idea of the Ghyran Guard, Stormcast who revere Alarielle as much as SIgmar and are dedicated to her mission of protecting the Realm of Life
But their canon color scheme is so ass
>>95912319God, stormcasts are so fucking cringe.
Torn between AoS and TOW. Which game do you think will have a brighter future?
There are models and armies I like in both games.
>>95912359They will both continue to exist for many years. Which one has a bigger community at your local game shops?
>>95912370Right now AoS and 40k are the dominant games in my area. They also have a Skaventide box on the shelves.
Is it a good pickup for a skaven army?
>>95912241Yeah, it doesn't
>>95911941>>95911920You don't like roll models? Why?
>>95912379I'd go with AoS then because the community is already there. Skaventide is a great starter for Skaven, especially because it has a Spearhead in it so you can get started with Spearhead games right away
>>95912379Have you played demo games of both? They have a lot of similarities but enough differences too.
Like
>>95912370Said, which one has a bigger community is normally a good bet, but if they both have a healthy group of regular players it's fine. I play Warcry with a group, it's only 8 odd people but they all turn up every single week so there's always a game to be had.
>>95912381Meanwhile Ardboys have no musician or banner anymore
>>95912396>Have you played demo games of both?I have not, but Iโve watched battle reports and both a friend and I are interested in starting an army for either of them.
>>95912395Thanks, Iโll look at picking it up.
>>95912359>There are models and armies I like in both games. Some armies are present in both
such as chaos undivided, vampires, lizardmen, skaven, goblins
if you pick one of them you should be reasonably capable of making one army and play both systems
>>95912381Ignore ten years of established lore, AoS only started in 4th edition
>>95912209Remember when ironjaws didn't stand anyone weaker and less armoured than them but ardboys? and then they got bonesplitters tagging along?
Remember when the now renamed warclans at least didn't stand anyone who was weedy or cowardly? and then they got kruleboys tagging along?
Remember when ironjaws didn't have smiths and simply punched armors into place as a show of strength? and then they got a smith special character?
Remember when warclans at the very least didn't have any filthy weakly goblin leading them? and then they got a hobgrot hero?
>>95912442Little by little they are becoming their fantasy version
>>95912471They will never be like their fantasy version until orcs and goblins remain divided
>>95912503as I said little by little
>>95912638Kruleboyz have grots
Ironjawz will soon
>>95912503>>95912638One of the surprises of the 5th edition will be the inclusion of orruks in the grot armies and grots in the orruk armies.
>>95912656I'll be surprised if GW manages to write a competent ally system for once.
>>95912656GW is heading towards splitting greenskin factions, not souping them. Ironjawz and Kruelboyz already have two separate indexes.
>>95912699Orruk Warclans is one battletome with shared terrain and spells
>>95912695One ally regiment per native regiment works well, points restrictions could work too.
>>95912743Isn't that already what regiments of renown are?
>>95912736yes but we're talking about what's more likely in the future
>>95912695>>95912699They don't have to be allies, it's enough to say they are slaves or prisoners.
>>95912753Based on indexes that came out earlier?
>>95912746Regiments of Renown are preset, rather than take a Warclans regiment in Gloomspite only limited by the inherent restrictions of the hero choice
i.e. currently you can only take a skumdrekk and some Hobgrots or two Big pigs
>>95912442STOP NOTICING THINGS
>>95912743>works wellno, it doesn't, it's way too restrictive.
no system of allies will be better than the following:
>you can h
>>959124421- brute orruks without armor, bonesplitters are not weak
2-ironjaw-gorko, kruleboys-morko and bonesplitter-gorkamorka
3-it's only one
4-hobgrot-chaos dwarves-5 edition
>>95912896>you can have as many sub-armies alongside your main army as you want as long as >-each sub-army follows the normal rules for making a normal small army of that faction>-the total of all your sub-armies doesn't surpass the total points chosen for the game>-no sub-army has more points than your main army >no sub-army belongs to a different grand alliance than your main armyyou can keep the regiments of renown system for handling cross-alliances things like mercenaries, if anything
>>95912359Both games are not going anywhere. They play very differently. Before looking into armies that potentially interest you, watch some battle reports from both games on youtube and see which on the surface appeals to you more. Then look into more niche things like listbuilding and only after look at armies in detail.
>>95912319I like astral templars, for the exception of the blue cloth. But I haven't figured out which other color to replace it with
Anyone ever tried high point games in 4th ed ? I'm talking 3-5k pts
>>95912920Chaos Dwarves - 5th Edition - 100% True - Don't Deny It
>>95913003My money is on GW dropping them in 4th. Right after Cathay hype train.
Rumor has it their book is going to be as unbalanced as 3rd ed Bonereapers
>>95912996Iโve heard 3k feels really fun and takes a similar amount of time to run with the added benefit of having enough list space for pet units.
>>95913016any rumor about rules that pops up more than 2 weeks before the preorders is pure delusions, rumors like that simply don't happen
>>95912653its fucking criminal that most armies dont have options for cheap small units, at least let me add some grots from kruleboyz or something god damn
>>959130165th Edition - New and improved Chaos Dwarves, completely different from their Fantasy counterparts. For example, they are a race of automaton robots.
6th Edition - The Shadow Guard. They are dark aelves in the service of Malerion.
7th Edition - The Iron Giants. Gargants with armor and firearms (cannons).
8th Edition - The Immortal Chaku-Teku Legions. They are mummies with Inca and Aztec themes.
>>95913111>New and improved Chaos Dwarvesthese are happening within this year
>Dark aelves in the service of Malerionthese are for the end of the edition
>Gargants with armor and firearms>mummies with Inca and Aztec themesnever ever
>>95913111Major changes coming in 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th editions.
1. Steampunk robot units will be included for Kharadrons and Cities of Sigmar.
2. The Daughters of Khaine will no longer be their own faction and will be included in Malerion's new army.
3. The Grots will begin to industrialize and will incorporate firearms into their armies.
4. The Seraphons will no longer resemble their fantasy counterparts and will become more like the Protoss from Starcraft.
Is it an unreasonable position to think that GW should just expand out all the micro factions instead of constantly adding new armies for everyone to chase?
>>95913271I mean they've slowed way down on new armies regardless. The only new armies we've gotten since 2E are Kruelboyz (debatable) and soon Chorfs.
>>95913300Oh and Cities I guess, a weird case of being around for ages but not getting an actual new range until late 3E.
>>95913252>Steampunk robot units will be included happening for kharadron, but not cities
>khainites will no longer be on their owncemented at the end of this edition
>The Seraphons will no longer resemble their fantasy counterpartsnever
>>95913300>>95913304Cities of Chaos: Cities of Sigmar that fell and now serve the Dark Gods
>>95913271they have decided to do both by making the expansions subfactions themselves
>>95913252Things that will happen in the near or distant future.
1 - A Stormcast legion will be corrupted by the Dark Gods.
2 - The wedding of Tyrion and Morathi.
3 - The liberation of Slanesh and the total annihilation of the Lumineth.
4 - The inclusion of female Orruks and Grots and the addition of genitals to the latter.
5 - The arrival of the Ancients and the revelation that Fantasy and Age of Sigmar take place in the same 40K universe, only billions of years in the future.
>>95913419>1 - no
