>RENTRY, WITH CUSTOM MYSTERIES, LORE BASICS, AND MORE, HERE:
https://rentry.org/pmd_synthetic_apocalypse/
RULES
>Grimbright setting. Usual PMD tech level with "relics" from the 80s found in dungeons.
>Mysteries are optional, and the Mystery selection is custom: see the rentry for this CYOA's Mysteries.
>All writefags/artfags grant both the author's character and any included characters 1MP or PP each.
>Type loss can only be taken once by dual-types. If you have one type, it cannot be taken at all.
>Characters from previous PMD runs should take isekai.
>Isekais cannot have comprehensive knowledge of how to repair and use advanced tech. They can recognize it, but not its purpose nor its inner workings.
>Humans do not exist in any capacity. Pokรฉmon don't know what humans are, either, and human isekais will have their memories scrambled so that they don't initially know that they were once human.
>Please check the rentry's "Mythical Asterisks" section before making a Mythical, esp. a Jirachi, Celebi, or Victini.
>Friendship Evolutions are counted as "evolving under level 20," but you must writefag the evolution for the discount to apply.
>Canon Megas only.
>The following abilities cost 3 MP to replace:
Defeatist
Emergency Exit
Klutz
Slow Start
Stall
Truant
Wimp Out

Rolled 2 (1d2)
1. Stick with a male
2. Go with a female so that finding a face claim is easier.
I cant really think of any augments.
>>95923867ass and titties enhancement
>>95923867Just make up anything, the cyoa's not very good
>>95923867They're a lot less important for Sinners. If you're not making one though idk what to tell you.
>>95923877gets mogged by my no augments build with a ridiculously stacked faceclaim
>>95923879you basically just told him that if he can't come with anything to just come up with something
>>95923474I have a few sinner related questions.
1. How do the sinners meet up with their reviver once they're found to be compatible? The logic behind this question is that it might take a while to collect 12 sinners, so I was wondering if we can slowly trickle in our recruits rather than waiting for a full roster.
2. How often can sinners interact with the rest of the city, whether as a group or by themselves, while they're on contract? If they can go alone to do nonlimbus things, are there any restrictions in what they can do away from their manager?
3. Somewhat related to the second question, what is the status of a sinner in the city? The CYOA states that a sinner forgoes affiliations and organizations, but does that mean you lose all your statuses to other organizations once you're in limbus? Like if a syndicate had a grudge on you, would they drop it until you're off the contract?
>>95923867What's your builds role or niche? That helps a lot. A sniper would benefit from mechanical eyes to zoom in or a brain chip to enhance their aim. A delivery Fixer like those in Devyat might have leg enhancements to increase their speed or some other augment for variable movement (like wings or running up walls).
General physical enhancements are always useful.
If you're really stumped, just check out some of the augments in Cyberpunk and shamelessly steal them. A Sandevistan would be a decent Tier IV (maybe V if you're like David Martinez or smth)
>>95924081>What's your builds role or niche? They call him the Thunderdome because that gawk gawk knock knocks your socks off.
>>95924081I remember a sci-fi book I read once where a sniper had his lungs replaced with bionic versions which constantly cycled air through them so he didn't have to breathe in and out.
>>95923419im still here

>another decentralized MP filled with builds who have entirely no reason to interact with one another
is it mental illness at this point?
>>95924030>How do the sinners meet up with their reviver once they're found to be compatible? In canon, all 12 of them are dumped on DANTETH.
>How often can sinners interact with the rest of the city, whether as a groupVery often.
>by themselvesNot often.
>Somewhat related to the second question, what is the status of a sinner in the city?Literal who. The City is the size of Switzerland or a Continent, so even the best sinners are still literally who in the grand scheme of things.
>>95924081Sandevistan is easily Tier III-IV tech, but not V. V is explicitly for near-magical technology that gives you godlike abilities like time manipulation.
>>95924030>1.We don't know. The game starts with the reviver and the bus crew complete. In other words, we can make up whatever we want.
>2.It's a pretty tight schedule. You basically live on the bus and are constantly heading to the next mission. The closest thing to free time is when everyone goes to their own rooms to sleep, or just when everyone is riding the bus together and waiting for the next traumatic shitstorm. The group doesn't really split up for missions either since there's only one reviver and being reviveable is the biggest reason why they can compete with other forces.
>3.Your status is that you work for some weird minor company no one knows about. You have about as much clout as any random shitter in the backstreets. People owe you and your backing as much respect as a random homeless man on the street, and they will not give a single fuck about your change in employment. If they have a grudge they can and probably will act on it, including dragging the whole bus into your mess.
All being a sinner means is that you gave up any authority or power you had before hand. No one else is beholden to that agreement but you.
>>95924111The only way this MP pops off is if anons actually make their Sinners and start doing shit, but we'll have to go through 1000 elderly color fixers with wanked gimmicks before that.
>>95924111Anons can't help themselves. They enjoy making side quest characters in an rpg more than they enjoy making main characters.
>>95924030>How do the sinners meet up with their reviver once they're found to be compatible?Any way we want honestly. In game, the Sinners had already been gathered and just showed up to help him when he was in danger.
>How often can sinners interact with the rest of the city, whether as a group or by themselves, while they're on contract? The basic gist of Limbus Company is the Sinners going around the city looking for Golden Boughs (magic macguffins that may be connected to the previous L-Corp and Library), which for some reason resonate with them due to some past trauma. So plenty of ways to interact with the rest of the City. Going alone is not recommended though.
>Somewhat related to the second question, what is the status of a sinner in the city? What is says on the tin, they're an employee titled 'Sinner' under Limbus Company.
>The CYOA states that a sinner forgoes affiliations and organizations, but does that mean you lose all your statuses to other organizations once you're in limbus? Yes. Under Limbus Company, you are just a Sinner and are obligated by a contract to follow through with what you are told by the higher-ups. Past affiliations still affect you though, but those are usually already accounted for (since those affiliations are probably involved with Golden Bough).
>>95924111My really cool leader of a small organization build is gonna totally interact with the others this time anon I swear
What's a setting that gives builds a reason to interact with each other and encourages them to do so?
>>95924111I'm making a sinner tho.
>>95924222all the builds wake up and are entirely confined to a giant sex dungeon filled with monsters
>>95924235How was MHA so ahead of it's time?
>>95924222schoolslop, for one, since everyone is in the same classes/common rooms/dorm rooms
being set in one location without means of escape is another, since depending on the size it means most builds will either be forced to interact or always be in proximity of some big happening
having everyone share a predestined goal is also one but itโs probably the least viable because it railroads character development and can either be ignored to the point of not mattering or will railroad most character development in its direction
just off the top of my head; Iโm sure there are more
>>95924249The City already locks you in one place and forces you into rolls that interact with others (Wings develop shit and bully lawbreakers, Fixers take all sorts of jobs, Syndicates run the crime, Sinners pay off their debts and deal with their interpersonal toxic yuri yaoi drama)
The problem is that anons SUCK at making builds or make fuck off organizations nobody cares for
>New jupiter school slop incoming next week
Mcyoag is saved
>>95924265well thatโs an issue that canโt be solved without extensive constructive feedback and workshopping
if anons arenโt open about their concepts or donโt listen to advice on what they make, that problem wonโt be solved
vice versa for even being given feedback that isnโt just insults or blind praise in the first place
Slop this, slop that!
Have about slopping inside some bitches?
>>95924297Yeah, that's how I made you.
>>95924112>>95924135>>95924180Thanks.
>2 and 3So the only way for sinners to interact with anyone outside the company is if they're related to the mission, either helping, harming, or just being in the right place at the right time?
>4So grudges are still in effect, and can even gain new grudges along the way. My idea was a former index proxy who became disillusioned with the prescripts and became a sinner. Do they still have to follow the prescripts while in limbus, or do I make it a generic syndicate so that I don't have to deal with it?
Unrelated to the CYOA, but why does the contract for reviving make the sinner weaker? Also, what are the different sinner variants in the gacha? Are they just an alternate timeline version of themselves? Do they have any bearing on the story, or are they just a way to sell more characters without expanding the roster?
>>95924265>The City already locks you in one place the size of switzerland
>forces you into rolls that interact with othersyet discourages interaction via the built-in extreme hostility and competing faction shit, same deal as the overseers vs lawbreakers with mercs inbetween in SC where they had a reason to interact but said interaction sucked
City sucks for MP when you think about it, the setting is incredibly bad for everyone but Sinners interacting and then it's still just bad
>>95924294Tbh, it's just anons being dumb a lot the time. Feedback isn't going to keep people from secluding themselves out in bumfuck even when it's made clear that the premise was to group in a village/gang/adventure party/etc.
>>95924311>So the only way for sinners to interact with anyone outside the company is if they're related to the mission, either helping, harming, or just being in the right place at the right time?Yes.
>Do they still have to follow the prescripts while in limbusThe index is weird. Strictly speaking you don't even need to follow the prescripts even when you work for them. You can probably just pick up your shit and leave. The other index guys won't care unless the prescripts tell them to go mess with you, and that could happen even if you were some rando. So basically don't worry about it and go make your index guy. It's a non-issue.
>Unrelated to the CYOA, but why does the contract for reviving make the sinner weaker? The exact mechanics are still unknown, but lore-wise what actually happens is everyone gets lowered to the same level as the weakest member. CYOA probably made it this way for balance reasons.
>Are they just an alternate timeline version of themselves? Yes. Typically themed after other builds and organizations. So we might get sinner variants based on the other non-sinner PCs in the mp.
>Do they have any bearing on the storyYes/no. The IDs themselves are just gachaslop. It's recognized occasionally that it's part of why the group is strong, and sometimes sinners talk about their experiences as IDs (for example, the sinners know some secrets about W corp they're not supposed to due to the IDs), but it's minor stuff in the grand scheme. The magical science that enables it is story relevant. One of the cast members basically made the science. One of the other chapters also involves it in a more antagonistic way.
>>95924368that's fair enough, but nothing can really be done about that
complaining about it is a waste, then, since all it does is remind people of a problem that can't really be fixed without control freak-ing so hard that the whole mp becomes unfun
>>95924357That's not an actual problem. Everyone doesn't have to interact with everyone. If I make baddy mcbadguy, I'm not scratch my head wondering how I contrive a reason to have tea party with rainbow justice ranger. I'll write my teaparties with other builds like mine.
>>95924375>but nothing can really be done about thatSure you can, force everyone to start in the same small area.

>follow the prescriptsNo (although the Prescripts are bullshit enough that your 'defection' might have already been calculated, but that's a whole nother can of worms)
>why does the contract for reviving make the sinner weaker? It's less they're weaker, and more everyone is put on a similar level. Why, we don't know yet, only headcanons and assumptions. My best guess is that the Golden Boughs resonate a lot with the emotional impact of confronting the Sinner's past trauma but having a strong as fuck Sinner (like a second gen Bloodfiend) to carry the weaker Sinners would undermine the impact.
>what are the different sinner variants in the gacha? Are they just an alternate timeline version of themselves? Do they have any bearing on the story, or are they just a way to sell more characters without expanding the roster?Yes to all of the above. Mostly. They can get information they wouldn't normally have thanks to their IDs, but that's rare in game. The alternate worlds as a whole though are a big background plot point though.
>>95923474How many people are working on Sinners still? Trying to workshop a writefag and right now I'm leaning towards a prologue where the Sinners are brought together and introduce one another/establish their contract with Minos. But doing it if we only have like 25% of the cast seems like jumping the gun.
>>95924311>So the only way for sinners to interact with anyone outside the company is if they're related to the missionIn canon pretty much. Could have the Sinners stop by in an area that is near the other builds for other reasons, like refueling the bus, gathering supplies or equipment, etc. But Sinners don't really get time off or anything, and only rarely are separated from the group.
>Do they still have to follow the prescripts while in limbus, or do I make it a generic syndicate so that I don't have to deal with it?Nope. Anyone can choose to follow a Prescript or not, it's just not following them usually results in other people getting Prescripts telling them to fuck you up. Could be a good motivation to join Limbus and get as far away from the Index as possible - whether they're actually after you or not.
>Why does the contract for reviving make the sinner weaker?Don't know why, maybe its the penalty associated with using the revivals. Either way, it brings them down to the level of the weakest.
> Also, what are the different sinner variants in the gacha? Are they just an alternate timeline version of themselves?Yes
>Do they have any bearing on the story, or are they just a way to sell more characters without expanding the roster? They're recognized as a thing in story, but its the second reason. In this run we're using Hyde's Elixir instead of mirror stuff.

>>95924536You are paying for the evolution item, and items cost money points, what's hard to understand about that? Unless you think an evolution item should cost less? >Sinners on the same levelI'll just roll with it being done for thematics then, but I wonder if the sinners can physically feel the difference in power or if I can chalk it up to more narrative bullshit?
>How many people are working on Sinners still?I guess I count. How does The Exorcist (novel), specifically Father Damien sound as the literary reference for the Sinner?
>but doing it if we only have like 25% of the cast seems like jumping the gun.I wanted to go with slowly forming the twelve on the way to the Golden Boughs so that we can start the story, hence why I asked about how the Sinners were introduced to their manager.
Could someone sell me on MHA? I always found the setting boring.
>>95924515Plots aren't substance. Substance is something that has to be deliberately worked in, and anons waste time writing plots completely lacking anything toothsome all the time. Making interactions that build on each other is the only meaningful way to participate in writing an mp. Spontaneous Interactions made with care will eventually come together neatly, while a meticulous plot planned from start to finish is more likely to end disappointment.
>>95924559How is it 3 and 5? The base cost in MP is 8, which is reduced by 2 to 6. Then you add 5 PP on top of that, for 6 and 5 total.
>>95924576They shouldn't be free, but I don't understand why it costs more to make a Scizor than a pseudolegendary. The item evos aren't typically all that powerful.
>>95924594>How is it 3 and 5? The base cost in MP is 8, which is reduced by 2 to 6. Then you add 5 PP on top of that, for 6 and 5 total.I seem to have mistaken the Type Shift cost beneath Evolution for Item Evolution's base cost, somehow.
Ignore me, sorry.
>>95924601Nah, it's cool. Just trying to figure this CYOA's costing out. At first I thought you meant that the "evo below 20" cost deduction somehow applied too, because a stoner or whatever could evo at level 1 theoretically.
Finally back. My head is killing me but I can write again.
>>95919331This is surprisingly insightful, a bit hard to understand at first but the way she calls things actually gives an idea of her opinion on them.
Are the Sinner IDs nerfed too?
>>95924613I mean, I'm sure you could construe that to apply (and I doubt many people would have a problem since it is very much possible), but no that's not what I messed up somehow.
Now that I'm reading it over this does seem rather insanely expensive, especially since I can't recall a single stone or item evolution that's especially powerful or in need of such expenses for an evolution.
>>95924594>The item evos aren't typically all that powerful. They used to be back in the day, and some are pretty strong. But in general you are right, it's not about power. If I had to guess it's more about rarity, in the games item evos are very rare, they either have abysmal drop rate(more like spawn rate) in dungeons or are only found in very specific endgame dungeons. This rarity is the only logical reason I can find to the cost. By comparison the megastones are cheaper, but they are more common in the games they appear in (only one actually) so the logic tracks.
>>95924651See this
>>95924656Nta by the way. In PMD evolution items are much rarer. Also on the mega comparison, I guess there is also the fact megas aren't permanent to consider but that mostly a technicality.
>>95924656>>95924656Yeah, it'd make sense for it to flip the script and cost like 8-10 PP or something, and like no MP, to represent the high cash cost.
Mister Toomey, tear down this wall.
>>95924587The setting is boring. Anons made it fun.
>>95924582>...sound as the literary reference for the Sinner?Sounds cool to me - we don't know much about religion in the City, despite there being an entire floor dedicated to it in the Library. Looking forward to how you tie the story into the Index.
>I wanted to go with slowly forming the twelve on the way to the Golden Boughs so that we can start the story, hence why I asked about how the Sinners were introduced to their manager. That's a good idea. Maybe Limbus contracts Sinners after discovering where a Bough is located, and specifically goes for people that might have a connection to it?
Either way, I guess I'll start on the Prologue. Might wait for one or two more people depending on how much blood I can squeeze from the stone.
>>95924625Probably. Some of the IDs based on bosses are weaker than they should be.
I think the IDs in the MP should give access to more varied skills and abilities rather than being a powerup. Or we ignore them entirely, but that kind of shits on Hyde.

>Wake Up, Apollo DearVery cool as an intro, it showcases both the respective personalities and the dynamic between the two very well. The internal monologue at the end is very interesting too.
The little references to the other characters and how they see the duo is also cool to see. I assume the Riolu at the end was Lushian, since normal ones don't learn Sucker Punch, in that case I wanted to point out that he doesn't know that move. I was planning to explain it later but what he did in the intro was supposed to be an incomplete Shadow Punch, the teleporting right to the enemy was my interpretation of why the move never misses, but it did miss because Lushian can't use it properly yet. It still makes sense that the move would be mistaken for that by Apollo so I think that's pretty cool, and you made me think about the fact Sucker Punch would actually be a pretty good fit for Lushian's style since it's a move that hinges on reading your opponent and he's supposed to be good at that.
Overall cool to see. This got way longer than I planned to.
>Villainous ScumThis is a nice way to see them in a more cooperative mood, which I assume is more the natural state of things. I forgot to point it out before but it's also interesting to see Apollo still getting used to his new strange body plan, and how is still manages to linger such a long time later. I feel bad for him when he will find out that neither Combuken nor Blaziken can actually fly, even if the last stage and the mega do get pretty close. The battle was fun to read and I liked the interpretations of the moves and what they do.

And though she still lives, it's debatable whether what has survived is 'her.' There is nothing she would not give for those she loves, and knowing this, they have often taken far more than anyone else would consider reasonable. The second most notable time it occurred, the remade her awoke with an insatiable craving for blood. But it wasn't so bad โ that her burden was lightened by expanding her family was more than she could have asked for. For a time, she was the happiest she had ever been, simply cherishing her "children." However, her softness compromised it all as she was unwilling to mete out the ruthlessness required to ensure this bliss would continue. So, her most memorable heartbreak resulted in not only the loss of her family, but the loss of their love. Despite how distressing her situation was, she couldn't bring herself to fight against it. Her heart was in their hands, and if they desired to see it undone, she would not deny them.
Yet, she would be reborn again. Her memory of what happened is blurry, only remembering the feeling of her broken heart and how intensely she desired to keep their love. The next moment, she was face to face with Minos and her soon-to-be coworkers. Since then, Desdemona has taken well to her place among the Sinners and come to perceive them as her new family, even if she's resisted the desire to turn any of them and make it official. She always maintains a chipper attitude and often pushes for group activities despite the limited free time they have and the fact that they're rarely ever separated. Gentle as she is, she is a beast completely controlled by her emotions and is prone to acting questionably as a result.

>>95926689With how the hierarchy stuff works, I was actually thinking that she was "related" but had gotten permission to start her won family at some point, either being turned by turned by Lance's "father" as well or someone else he turned.
Finally finished my City character. What organisations or agencys are we looking at so far?
>>95926736Just a few. There's a fixer a office, a syndicate, and a group of sinners.
>>95926725That makes sense. In Lance's case he's technically still a second kindred; he's just strong enough to match the level of an elder, which is why he believed he could challenge the "Father." I imagined that guy as ridiculously overpowered, so the fight wasn't particularly close. My thought was that Lance was the first to be turned by the Father, making him the "Big Brother" of the family- simultaneously groomed for leadership and someone the Father took special effort to keep under his thumb.
My initial idea for the Father was as man who'd be too obsessed with control to let his "children" form their own families, but I don't really know much about the setting and was just looking to come up with something until these details were settled by all the builds. Maybe Desdemona's love towards her "siblings" and her the enthusiasm towards maintaining their messed up family allowed him to make an exception for her, since he wasn't worried she'd betray him and viewed her new "children" as further expansion of his own influence.
I'm cool with whatever you want to do though, so let me know your thoughts. My ideas were mostly meant a placeholder/something other anons could further flesh out.
>>95926831One anon said sinners cant interact with anyone who isn't a sinner. Is this true? If it is does that mean we should all be sinners?
>>95926852It's more like the sinners don't have a lot of freedom to move on their own. They stay as a group and move from place to place. They can and most likely will interact with the other groups as they go about their job.
>>95926868Doesn't that amount to the same thing?
>>95926913If moving around as a group is the same as being unable to interact with anyone else to you, then.. I guess? If someone struggles with seeing the difference between those things, then they're probably better off latching onto the biggest group to make it easier on themselves.

Vision enhancements useful for carrying out prescripts demanding the involvement of disobedients who go into hiding such as scanning the environment or highlighting weak points.
Bio I: Heart of Stone
A necessary upgrade to accommodate Demi's other augments. Other than allowing the heart to pump more blood when required, its pace can be controlled to hasten the activation of medication, to reduce blood loss, or impractically to calm the user.
Bio II: Pilgrimage
A simple leg upgrade that increases running speed and jump height. A proxy only has so much time in a day to enforce the will of the city.
Bio IV: Hardened Resolve
Full body augmentation designed to harden specific body parts on demand, further increasing strength and durability.
Tool II: Ceremonial Gown
Uniform of Demi's previous syndicate, a white cloak meant to cover a dark suit from sinew and weaponry.
Tool II: Doctor's Bag
Barely usable on sinners, it's mainly applied to outsiders to enhance his knowledge.
Tool V: Sacrificial Lamb
A broad-bladed greatsword personalized during Demi's promotion. It is said to fall easily due to its weight. The sword's main ability is to change shape and properties, specifically expanding the breadth to act as a shield, or altering its edge to change the damage done.

>>95927187>Some would call him stoic, others aloof. In any case, Demi Karras is known to not be very expressive in front of his fellow sinners. Despite his toward appearance, Demi is shown to have compassion for others, especially his foes. Underneath the cold persona is a kind and soft heart hidden away from the cruelties of the city and his own doing. While he often talks of faith and spirituality, he tends to take whatever the sinners say quite literally and seriously despite the tone used or the topic at hand.>The combat report states that Demi is often seen praying before and after each skirmish. His swings are made to swiftly decapitate his opponents to reduce the pain they endure. That is, if he's not jumping in the way of attacks towards his teammates which may frustrate other sinners. As a former member of the Index, Demi believed in the prescript and its followers. It gave him a purpose in life, and protected his loved one from the horrors of the outside, yet would also be the one to take these away. By then, it was far too late. Neither science nor magic could recover what was left of his mother. Though he continued his duties as efficiently as he always had, the reality of his actions started to leak through his numbed morality. Eventually he found his way to Minos, offering for him and the company to use so that he may be guided by the Shepherd who leads the Lost Flock.
tl;dr a former syndicate assassin now acting as a bodyguard for squishy targets while having a crisis of faith. I wanted to incorporate a Pazuzu EGO, but couldn't really think of anything. Also, the sinner blurbs for managers are pretty cool. I wish I could do a high effort profile like Hyde, Carter, etc. but this'll do for now.

how much can you power wank the special power gift
>>95927454By wording alone it's the strongest thing you can have because it's "beyond Singularities" and "beyond the box" and "Impossible to measure properly". With little to no dawbacks and easy to use it's the single best choice in the cyoa. Reading this I honestly think the author mistook what beyond actually means.
>>95927599haha classic favela rat!
>>95927599I really wanna think that Cityfag wanted to say that Special Power is "beyond singularities" because it's true magical shit instead of being strictly stronger, and he just struggled to word it properly. I really do. Otherwise there's gonna be a lot of builds for us to ignore.
>>95927640even if that's what he meant isn't it a retarded option
>stablish power system between different types of tech>btw you can just ignore this and make whateverprobably not even his fault too, just gacha slop being slop and not managing to stay consistent with its own rules
>>95927640I think he meant "beside" as in comparable power but different nature. It does preface the whole section by saying all gifts are equal despite what canon says but all that does with the wording of special power is force the rest to be stronger to catch up with special power.
>>95927667EGO is not a tech, it's actual supernatural shit already.
>>95927676I'm only vaguely familiar with this franchise but wasn't ego also born from tech that manifested the subconscious or something? or was that the monsters? Either way, if you have augments/weapons as tech and ego as the supernatural, there is even less reason for special power to exist
perfect time to make a cultivator by introducing qi with the special power
Perfect time to cuck cultivator builds by introducing qi-absorber with the special power.
>>95927728Perfect time to make a anti-cultivator cuck build by introducing qi that cannot be absorbed with the special power.
>>95927709Yeah, more specifically it manifests from high tension and emotional moments. Special Power is like an edge case: it's not EGO because it doesn't need that high tension to develop, it isn't a power coming from a Wing Singularity augment, and it isn't tied to Relic.
>>95923474If you pick both EGOist and Distorsion do you get to add up the points or do you have to make two different powers? I ask because that section makes no sense, it says that distorsion would be the powerful mode when you actually have less points for it so EGO would be better in every way.
What do you anons do when you're halfway through a writefag, need to put it down, and then come back later to realize you wrote something great and couldn't for the life of you finish it with the same level of quality?
>>95928038if you want to improve, you read it again and again to figure out why it turned out great and try to replicate it in the future sections
that or you just give up and take the hobby pill, no one in mcyoag is expecting professional writers who are consistently great
>>95928038>and then come back later to realize you wrote something greatNever happened to me.
>>95927760This is on me, actually. You simply ignore the Distortion points entirely and use the EGOist point pool to make your thing. You just swap between Distortion (raw power) and EGO (control).
>>95927599>>95927667No, I stand with what I wrote in the text. Special Power is pretty much beyond Singularities and even EGO in its usage. Purple Tear can freely hop between dimensions, influence the fate of the world and play 4d chess (this is more on her than the power) .
The only thing that comes close to what she does is the Mirror Worlds technology, and it isn't as good as she is, as she can force someone into the Library without Angela knowing a thing.
What she does is not a thing any singularity or EGO has been able to do.

>>95928754having less limits than anyone else =/= having no limits, you drooling retard
>>95928754NTA but I don't think they're calling it out as the strongest thing, but elaborating on it being beyond the other options. The scope of what a special power can do or at the very least the example its based on hasn't been seen to have any direct comparisons to itself. A Warp Train's dimensional travel has way more drawbacks and isn't as easy or quick to use as her power. She's strong for sure because of it, and she's one of the strongest characters in the setting, but she's not able to throw hands with an Arbiter. It gives her more opportunities to go to places other's couldn't possibly try and go to themselves, which someone with an EGO couldn't try and recreate. The closest thing is maybe Yuria's Workshop, but she can only summon the entrance to the building and can't exactly use it to travel anywhere else.
I'm gonna have a danish for brekkie :)
>>95928788his example of her being "better then mirror worlds technology" is her getting Roland into the library which doesn't even make any sense given that's just fucking teleportation. she's obviously exceptional because she's a Color but claiming that she's somehow beyond anything else in the City is ridiculous when there's barely anything at the higher end to actually compare her to. pure leaping to conclusions
>>95928816anon you keep focusing on the wrong definition of the word beyond. Literally no one can just teleport like she can on a whim. Her power is just something of her own. Its not based on EGO or Technologies like singularities or augments, she doesn't need energy to power it or to trigger the right emotions, she just does it. Its not strength beyond anything we've seen before, its a power thats beyond anything that we know currently exists.
>>95928805This anon gives off very submissive vibes.
>>95928805enjoy your danish, anon!
>>95928829>its a power thats beyond anything that we know currently exists>the magic Nebulae in the outskirts that literally grants wishes like a genie:either way I know what his ESL ass meant, I just disagree with it. Iori is a product of the City and acting like she's beyond it just because there aren't any apparent limits to her going poof that we know doesn't mean there are none. if it was really that easy for her she'd have found her lame ass son by now.
It surprises me just how many Harry Potter builds ignore the pocket dimensions they have in their briefcases.
>>95928853Uh, no. Do you know how many dimensions there are? A lot.
>>95928928It's not really relevant. It's like saying you're surprised how many people ignore that they have the burning library of Alexandria in their hands.
>>95928971I'm sort of surprised by that too. The sheer amount of people who take the internet for granted is nuts.
>>95928853Dude, how do you keep missing the point even when you keep saying you get it. Outskirt shit still is a completely unknown, its like the Dark Continent in HxH. Someone having an ability thats comparable to one of those is extremely impressive because as far as we know no other human can just do that under their own power. Its not about her being completely omnipotent in traversing anywhere she wants to, she has a power that cannot be explained and doesn't operate by any power system or conventions that other people are bound by.
>>95928928I don't, Lennox has a whole factory in there, and a collection of very illegal enchanted knives among his larger collection of barely legal enchanted knives. He also plans to slowly transfer half the population of the forbidden forest in there for material farming resons but doesn't have the skills for that, not to keep them alive at least. If we go by build purchases alone he should be the one with the most supplies because I am pretty sure I am the only one that bought the material cache more than once.
>>95929048>comparable to oneit's significantly worse is my point. she literally says in her keypage that her ability has limits and comes with a cost, she just doesn't say what it is because she's le mysterious old hag. I disagree with "cannot be explained" because the City is chock full of superscience shit, just because her abilities aren't explained doesn't mean that there's no explanation that fits perfectly within the convention of the world.
>>95929147I mean it can't be explained based on what we know right now. It hasn't been replicated and probably isn't due to a Singularity that a Corp currently has because they haven't gotten freely teleporting soldiers of their own. What we do know is that its above EGO's as she managed to infiltrate the Library despite the fact the Library should only accept invited Guests, and as we know right now its above augmentation and singularities because no one else has demonstrated such use of abilities like hers. Just because something from the Outskirts is way above something in the City doesn't mean her ability is shitty at all. EGO's, Singularities, everything would pale in comparison to whats out there as even Rabbit Teams expect to wipe at least half their team exploring the Outskirts. Whatever cost she has to pay is clearly pretty damn low considering that she uses it multiple times against the Red Gaze just to fuck with him and bounces out afterward.
What if we talked about the MP instead of pointless canonfagging
>>95929134Probably, yeah. How on earth does he plan on pulling that Forbidden Forest thing off, anyways, even when he gains the right skills? I can't imagine the staff would be very pleased lol.
>>95929245We're talking about the cyoa

The most advanced super science will always be inferior to straight up magic but that's not relevant right now
>>95929323They're all middle of the pack jobbers so none of them, even Rowan soloes
>>95926839That works well with my own ideas. I purposely left the specific details of her downfall vague, but one way or a another it ended in her being falsely accused and punished. Desdemona being the exception Father's controlling nature, the person who betrayed could have played into that to make him and the rest of family suspicious of her. Possibly a jealous "sibling" trying curry favor.
In the family dynamic, Dez easily fits into an "eldest sister" slot with her having some preferential treatment of being younger but still being able to saddled with responsibility. She would genuinely look up to Lance, though the exact nature of their current relationship could be interesting. I imagine the incidents that caused them to become Sinners occurring at different times and her having wandered around in Distortion mode for a while, but her believed rebellion could have still had something to do with Lance's true rebellion. I have a loose idea for Desdemona's downfall starting somewhat ahead/alongside Lance's action but him being sold to L-Corp before Minos and co eventually found her.
>>95929347You're forgetting my GOAT Eric.
>>95929245Give me your ships.
>>95929263I didn't mean literally, I exagerated a bit for the sake of brevity. His actual plan is to kinda Noah's ark it, taking two of each species of animal and breeding them in the suitcase to get more materials out of them. That's also why he lacks the skills, with a careful application of charms, enchanted items, D.A.D.A. and copious amounts of violence gathering the animals is not that hard, keeping them alive during the process and and afterwards would be the hard part. At most he has Studios to rely on for the plants, the rest is more of a fool's errand, that doesn't mean he will not try anyway, some of the survivors may be surprisingly useful. He could ask his friends for help, but most of them either also don't have the skills or are too mercurial to help. As for why he needs all these materials, other than completionism, some of his plans require rare materials, and a lot of trial and error, so he needs spares.

>>95925663For Lennox it would be Studios, not because he's his cousin, but because he is the only teacher he actually respects as both a teacher and an individual. The others are either too strange (ironic I know) or too stuck up, or they teach something he doesn't care about/ doesn't need lessons in. Herbology is a subject he is not a genius in but also something he needs, and Studios is a competent teacher. Close second is Marvin, Lennox is not quite sure what his subject is about but it's definitely more interesting than 90% of the curriculum.
The resons would be these.
Prof. Travers: Too serious and too stuck up, but competent so he respects him as a teacher.
Prof. Chantelle: Too annoying, her lessons are needlessly complicated, her puzzles are fun but they are not needed.
Prof. McCreedy: Bad at potions. (He's convinced his methods are superior, and can't understand why they keep failing.)
Prof. Stan: Not his teacher, also kinda strange but mostly because they don't interact much.
Prof. Cicero: Stck up, but competent.
Prof. Firethorn: Diferences in ideologies, the professor sees animals as living creatures, Lennox sees them as walking sources of materials with few exceptions. That predictably causes some misunderstandings.

>>95925663For Ciaran let's go by the list
>Nicholas FirethornDoesn't have classes with him, so most of their interactions were getting busted for rule breaking. As such, not in the running for favourite.
>MarvinNot really a professor, but he's used as a punishment for rule-breakers. They'd get along fine. When ฬถtฬถhฬถeฬถyฬถ ฬถhฬถaฬถnฬถgฬถ ฬถoฬถuฬถtฬถ Marvin oversees Ciaran's detentions, I think topics like "who's better at flying", "can a Dementor fly on a broom" and "what ideas from Dementors can be used to make better brooms" would come up.
>Minrathous CiceroA bit too serious and cryptic, but as the head of the Hufflepuff and Charms teacher, he's likely the teacher Ciaran spends the most time with. A shame that his specialities seem to be mental charms, but the focus on physical education is certainly a plus.
>Simon StanAnother teacher he doesn't have classes with.
>Dougal McCreedyPotions... That's a big minus for him. Ciaran just isn't patient enough for this subject and it's the one school of magic that can't be rushed. The sarcastic comments get to Ciaran. He tries to get back at him, by using the stats from quidditch matches where Hufflepuff's dunked on Ravenclaws as the basis of divinations in the Arithmancy class.
>Chantelle ShafiqWHAT THE HELL DO WORD-PUZZLES HAVE TO DO WITH TRANSFIGURATION?!
>Henry TraversHe's strict, but in a straight-forward kind of way. Coupled with his personal history, he's probably the teacher Ciaran respects the most. Which wouldn't pair up well with his trouble-making habits, but he's just in his punishments, so it feels fair if Ciaran gets caught.
>Studios GauntA Squib teacher feels odd. He might be good at raising magical plants, but Ciaran is honestly more interested in their use rather than growing them, and he's biased in his belief that Gaunt can't really teach that.
>DankinusHe's fun in small doses, tiresome in a long run. Luckily he only takes over classes sometimes.

>>95929864Why is it that anons keep mistaking beyond as meaning stronger than everything else? I think it's already been said like 5x times that its not sheer strength, its something that cannot be replicated by the other options. Not that it completely trumps the other ones, but it achieves what the others cannot. Just because the last line says its nearly impossible to measure properly, it only means you can't quantify it on some chart and not that it has infinite strength or potential. Like this is even stupider than the superhuman constitution, at this point you're lookin for an excuse to insult anyone because you can only imagine a single powergamer perspective.

>>95929989>>95930001Just take EGO's as an example. Special Power will usually take the lead in ease of use, but you can design an EGO to be an option that either specializes into power, versatility or range. Your special power isn't going to be a cheatcode for every situation and its not going to be superior in every aspect. Its only seeming like the absolute strongest because its being wanked so damn hard, but what actually makes it one of the strongest is that its a power completely inherent to you that needs nothing but you wanting to use it. EGO's also share some of those benefits but you have to risk tapping into that power in the middle of a fight but you can invest more into the impact it will have. Its making way more of a deal over Special Power then it actually deserves.

Oh right, all gifts are roughly equal because they're all the same fucking thing because a certain someone couldn't be assed to differ 3 of the 4 options he gave from each other.
Honestly EGO is the most pointless thing in the cyoa. Why would I bother budgeting an EGO when instead I could get a tool, augment, or special power that does the same thing and I don't need to pay my imaginary taxes?

I think if it was an actual Sucker Punch Diana would've evaporated into thin air from the four-times weakness + priority outspeeding her Teleport lol.
>I feel bad for him when he will find out that neither Combuken nor Blaziken can actually fly, even if the last stage and the mega do get pretty close.I'm going to be honest, I have no idea what you classify as "pretty close." Does basic parkour count? Because they're pretty much entirely flightless otherwise. :)
>>95930161>What prevents my special power from being specialized in power, versatility, or range? If you really want to wank it to make it seem like the absolute best option to the point that everyone who chooses otherwise is nerfing themselves, I guess you can since you seem really intent on trying to do so and it doesn't seem like you want to think differently. But even basing it on the original inspiration's it was just teleportation that could go theoretically go anywhere.
>Is that said anywhere in the cyoa?I swear Cityanon needs to add elephant/building tier descriptions for people like you. If you want to make it a problem, no one can tell you otherwise because obviously it has 0 limits because nothing says you can't just get Omnipotence. Like this argument has become completely stupid, its just starting to switch to shitting on EGO and its clear you don't like the CYOA which is why you're making bigger issues out of nothing.
I think the bigger problem is that all Gifts are equal and aren't given any concrete feats, meaning your pick is pretty much irrelevant and only determines the coat of your paint. At least in the original CYOA, EGO and Relic had some distinction, Special Power started off weak and had to be trained, and you could get Superhuman to go unga bunga.
>>95930216NTA and don't care about this retarded argument but

>>95930216>If you really want to wank it to make it seem like the absolute best option to the point that everyone who chooses otherwise is nerfing themselvesI didn't say that. >I swear Cityanon needs to add elephant/building tier descriptions for people like you.I don't think you even bothered reading my post all the way, and if you genuinely think that that is the same as wanting any more description at all to actually differentiate 3/4 incredibly samey "just do whatever" options, then that's pretty funny.
>Like this argument has become completely stupid, its just starting to switch to shitting on EGOIt's been about how stupid the Gift options are and how bad the balancing and cyoa design is since the beginning, keep up.
>>95930236I'm sayin its a bad faith argument. There's no actual reason to try and continue because they're so set that its basically some infinite scaling power without limits. Unfortunately it doesn't look like you can be tired of someone purposefully creating an issue without people thinking you're someone else, and I think that largely is why an argument like this has gone for so long since its more focused on targeting someone then actually being about the issue that's talked about.
>>95930252If you want to operate on some absolute choices then I'm not going to stop you, especially because I already know you aren't even going to participate since you only want to talk about it to stir some stupid back and forth. Just update the CYOA with these two things instead of feeding into arguments that go nowhere, Cityfag. You made a whole page for combat stats in Arknights and received no complaints, and they provided feats.
>>95930303Then it's build legal, and will be ignored by everyone and treated like it doesn't exist. If you're lucky, someone will give you an off-hand line about you wishing for infinite power and a how-to book on self-improvement pops out of thin air.

I really hope City isn't a stillbirth, I haven't felt this good writing since Fate. Should have the prologue for the current Sinners done by tonight or tomorrow - I'll try to incorporate any new builds but can't promise anything.
If anyone has requests, please let me know. Right now the plot is Ringo and Minos getting picked up by the Sinners on the bus (a dozen or so minutes before the Sweepers come out), and establishing the contract. Ideas or interactions would be appreciated.

>>95930199Sucker Punch fails if the opponent isn't using a direct attack, so Teleport wouldn't trigger it. That's why I said that it's oddly fitting for Lushian, since he has the psychology knowledge and is good at reading people with aura/soul shenanigans he would be able to use it more reliably than others. Diana would evaporate regardless, I imagine it must be quite scary being around him for her, and he isn't even evloved yet.
Blaziken and the mega version have real good air control and can jump higher than several stories buildings, they have also been shown gliding to a degree and they can learn Brave Bird. So he can't fly but as a certain space hero would say he can "fall with style". Also he may be able to rocket boost flame bender style according to Pokken, but that's an edge case, It's very anime tho and we are kinda going for that vibe last time I checked.
>>95930561>It's very anime tho and we are kinda going for that vibe last time I checked.I know I am with the duo. Given that the whole setting is also anime, I'm going to assume most people are also in agreement on that haha.
Granted, Pokรฉmon's a kind of weird case where it's a lot more grounded than most anime i've seen, but it's still anime enough that it affects the tone so whatever.
>>95930555Maybe he's the bus driver? In the lore, a dedicated loli going by the name Charon drives the bus, and she makes cute "vroom-vroom" noises.

>>95930579Right now I'm writing Hyde as being the driver (which is why they're nearly late, Minos comes on the bus and sees him drinking from a flask), but I can have Minos take the wheel after he points out how stupid that is.

>>95930579Speaking of which, are we going to get non-sinner LCB builds? A Charon, a Virgil, the silly before team jobbers, etc.
>>95930636I am chill with that scenario. I feel like Minos would take the flask under the pretence of "corporate policy" and drink it all away later to cope with his situation, though. Putting up a strong front, then wasting away once the reality hits.
>>95930654Make a cute girl, we have enough sausages.
>>95930704When Minos smokes, does he stick the cigs into his artery holes?
>>95930424I don't have much of a request for Karras other than toning down the religious talk and leaning more on skeptic side since he's fresh on his journey and is guarded against sinners. As for interactions, Lance and Desdemona could probably be brought up for being fangers. Hyde also mess with Carter's medication, or talk about L Corp if that's going too far. Mostly here to cheer you on with your writefag.
Sidenote, who's capable of repairing the bus after an eventual crash?
>>95930753nta, but most of the canon sinners didn't come out and say what their life history was. The company knows, but they don't disclose it randomly (and by company, I don't mean the manager/dante; he's as out of the loop as the sinners). And for something like being a bloodfiend that goes double since the normal response to having a bloodfiend present is to just gang up and kill it immediately. Most people would rather cooperate with cannibal syndicate members than a bloodfiend.

A walking enigma, powerfully built yet readily has given his strength for an unknown cause, a keen mind but naive to life in the Districts, and a strong sense of justice and morals that hasn't stopped him from brutally yet efficiently dispatching threats that stand between them and their next stop. Standing tall with a sharp gaze and a firm voice, its clear that he's used to being some authority figure, yet he's more than happy to take orders and follow them through. It seems he's taken this transition into a Sinner better than most, finding it a novel experience despite the dangers and hardships which he is well aware of.
He's given up more of his past than most, having his records purposefully lost and obscured and choosing to live as a new man. While friendly and open to others, he keeps his life before the LCB secret, as its unimportant to the role he has chosen to abide by. He likes to lead by example on how to live life and how to fight on the battlefield, quickly exploiting flaws in someone's formation, but his most uncanny skill is his ability to resonate with others, especially EGO Gear. They seem to compose themselves around him, becoming more stable while also allowing for him to draw out their upmost potential. It is his preferred method of fighting, using the tools at his disposal instead of becoming another self to do the job in his place. He only needs to be himself, as he always has. A man at last.

My thanks to R. Carter's anon from whom I plundered the formatting and who inspired me change the fluff to that sort of company-side report. Similar thanks to Hyde-anon who first started the idea for this mp. It was a fun way to mix things up.
>>95930888Admittedly this is a bit rushed out, spent far too much time concepting the build that I felt a bit burnt out filling in all the small stuff like all the Augmentations. Really difficult to try and think of small tidbits that I'd want when I feel like it'd be difficult not to already be covered by some higher level ones. I'll probably format the rentry into something prettier looking in the vein of the other Sinners later since I need to make something that'll display the true origins and such in a more aesthetically appealing way which isn't just several text walls.

>>95930996Truly we'd vroom vroom...
>>95930753>Sidenote, who's capable of repairing the bus after an eventual crash?None of the Sinners thus far have Creative License, which would probably be one of the better perks for it. Hyde has Genius of the World, that plus Identities and his Augment should probably be enough for less serious damage and maintenance.
The driver build an anon is working on will probably be a kitted out mechanic - maybe they even built the bus, since we don't have a Faust.
>>95930424I can't think of any specific requests for Desdemona, but I suppose it might be worth noting that she has little regard for personal boundaries. She' is sensitive to the needs of others and will adjust herself to make someone as comfortable as they can be, but she naturally desire to act very affectionately with people. For interactions, attention could be drawn to Lance and her seeming to be familiar with each other rather than them being Bloodfiends. Without lying, she would enthusiastically claim that they're siblings if asked.
>>95923487I'm reading the blood fiend perk correctly right? A first gen can make as many 2nd gens as they want but every other generation can only make 2 descendants?

I have an idea for how to write them together, but it might be more convenient if people could see their opinions separately
>>95931847Two charts, but do keep them in one Rentry.
>>95931840>I'm reading the blood fiend perk correctly right?Nope. The origin of bloodfiends/primogenitor is the one that goes around making as many first kindreds as they want, but the first kindreds and everyone else can only make 2.
>>95931847>>95931903I also vote for this. But I am a bit curios how you planned to do it.
>>95931960I was gonna riff on how spherethirst did his relationship in HP, having them both comment on a person in a sort of short conversation between each other.
Keeping them separate's probably a better idea, though. Their personalities are different enough to warrant it for sure and I feel like the conversation would get obnoxious if it dragged on too long lol.

Also I am not sure if it kept going but the Sun/moon seasons of the anime got a lot more slapstick and classic anime like, that's not really the feel we were going for I think but they did get less grounded, just not in the direction we were expecting.
>>95932077Just be forewarned that more people skip writefags and add them to their """reading list""" while they actually utilize things marketed as relationship charts much more
I don't have /mcyoag/ marketing down quite yet but I'm writing a paper on it.
>>95931913Huh. I didn't know that. Honestly, just leave it that way, I think. I don't think it would be fun to run around as a first kindred and just be able to make 2 "children".
>>95932091If we're going by mainline anime series, XYZ is probably a better guideline to go by than Sun/Moon. It's still lighthearted enough, but can get slightly darker and generally takes itself semi-seriously. Sun/Moon is kind of just shitposting on steroids and it's a real shame.
>>95932100I'm aware, though I don't mind too much. If it does end up being a writefag, it'll be a very inconsequential one. >>95932022 can be fun in this case I think it would hinder the purpouse of the chart. A chart is supposed to give info on the personality of the build and the opinions they have on the others, in this case I feel like neither Apollo nor Diana would say what they really think in front of the other because of the strange place the relationship is in right now so having them separate would be more sincere. In particular Diana feels like she would never be sincere about what she thinks, or at least she would be cryptic and whimsical about it. The reason why it works for the mean girls is that they are like one entity already, they are meant to be uniform like that.

Dante, the main manager, is based on Dante's Inferno, and the journey he takes with the Sinners is supposed to represent the journey the book Dante takes through hell, Ishmael is from Moby Dick and has Captain Ahab as her antagonist as Ahab has doomed her entire crew due to her obsession chasing the White Whale, Heathcliff basically sacrifices everything over Catherine, etc. It's just a common theme between them.

>>95932436I really like her! Damsel can relate-- A fellow heart engine user~ Surely, someone on the team would need repair skills for all the mech freaks we have...
>>95932393Damsel's based on Dorothy from Wizard of Oz.
Here's a draw of her using Unnatural Emanation to ignite all her fuel systems and turn her shoes a far more popular-media recognizable color from the heat
>>95932407>>95932416I got lazy and didn't want to list them all, I just chose the one directly ripped from the story, the one who's name slightly changed from the original, and the guy who chose a piece of modern media to base his on. The others still exist, in my heart. Except Lancelot, he better pull a vampiric Knights of the Roundtable out his ass otherwise I'm pulling his organs through it instead.
>>95932436Finally got a driver, nice. Think she's like Sinner 10 though. That also brings up the question of whether we're actually going to stop at 12 Sinners to reflect the original crew or what since I think its going to be the biggest faction that actually works close together across any MP so far either way.
>>95932461I learned recently that Mio's faceclaim is apparently like 12 according to some people on /v/. Is Sandatsu based?
>>95932534Shes older than him canonically
Also doesnt she have huge tits, how is that a 12 year old
Okay this relationship chart has spiraled way the fuck out of control. I'll probably be able to finish it tonight, but I don't know if it'll be out before this thread croaks lol.
>>9593253012 is funnier due to FOMO and potential for frauding.
>>95932534>Sandatsu beats the terrorism, murder, and cannibalism charges just to go down on pedophilia No dignity...
>>95932294Just make a chick with a fat ass and you're golden
>>95932294Just make a fat ass who's friends with a golden chick.
>>95932530Statistically speaking, a certain amount of the sinners are bound to be dumps or frauds. Best to keep things open and keep accepting more sinners. Maybe even get away from canon a bit, add a central LC headquarters and make it so that builds head out in custom groups while the rest stay behind and can have some SoL with non-sinners.
That way, if we get dumps or frauds we don't get dragged down by them.
>>95932294Just make a fat chick with a golden ass and you're friends.
>>95932568but anon, I already did!
>>95932571Eh, you can still make LC members without making a Sinner though. We have the Before and After teams after all. Each Sinner is supposed to correspond to a Golden Bough and if there's so many its going to be an issue.
You guys know you can change stuff from canon right?
>>95932585ignoring city's canon removes any form of actual purpose for having the MP, liking the franchise is literally the only reason to play
>>95932507>A fellow heart engine user~Sort of. It's a Tool in this case, and the engine of the bus itself. Home is where the heart is, as they say. I'm sure many of our Sinners will learn to keep their hearts in Mila's repair bay.
>spoilernice, I guessed right on her inspiration. cool touch to have her slippers be both of the iconic colors.
>>95932530I'm not really counting in numerical order of builds, just wanted the 08 slot for puns and nobody seemed to have claimed it. I'm dittoing stopping at 12, we're looser with requirements than canon and can totally dump any losers or dumps by cutting their contract.
>>95932595Can the bus's heart be powered the same way as Damsels? Can she feed it Scavenged parts to it?
>>95932595>>95932595Can the bus's heart be powered the same way as Damsels? Can she feed it Scavenged parts to it?
oop meant to spoiler before sorry~
>>95932594>liking the franchise is literally the only reason to playHalf of the anons making builds actively hate the setting. The same goes for worm, MHA, HP, almost any franchise cyoa. This is clearly false.
>>95932619>And this is our train bus!>It's powered by vore.Properly unhinged, let's do it.
>>95932627No, those MPs have other factors, such as a playable cyoa. Literally only Cityfags and people who have FOTM or want to play with the Cityfags are playing.
>>95932631You're right but you're also wrong. See, it's not Cityfags, it's City *anon* fags. Cityanon made a deal with a brujo.
>>95932631I'm just fiending for urban fantasyslop, anon.
>>95932581It's also exactly because of the golden boughs that I think it's better if we get some distance from canon and loosen up. Otherwise we'd lock ourselves into a format where everyone is forced to wait for the current sinner's arc to end before the next can start. If someone frauds or is just a slow cook, the whole sinner plotline could stall and kill off the mp. If someone dumps, then that means we'll never get their part of the story, and by extension our quest for the golden boughs will end there.
Being open to additional sinners and a more flexible way to build up the team means we can avoid those issues more easily. It'd probably be less stressful for the anons writing their sinners too, since they won't have everyone else trapped in purgatory and waiting for them to finish.
The other side of it is that having a cap on sinners encourages people to be quick and low effort to avoid missing out, but if we leave it open we make it so that people don't need to be afraid to take their time and cook up the best sinner they can, which I think is also to our benefit.
>>95932619Definitely.
That is to say, eat your heart's fill.
>>95932628Isn't that like, exactly what the original bus did? Everyone they killed on the road they just tossed into the engines.
>>95932619I mean... The canon bus can literally use people as fuel. You can just toss corpses into a slot...
>>95932375Oh okay. So sinners go on jobs that take them threw proverbial hell for the sake of the corporation. I thought they were just repurposed prisoners or indentured workers.
>>95932594I don't know shit about the franchise and it still seems interesting to me.
>>95932642Same, also the other options are PMD and Harry Potter and neither do anything for me
>>95932683All of the sinners are there on a contract. The company offered something they wanted badly enough, and in exchange they have to do this job to completion. Strictly speaking they can just fuck off and leave whenever they want, but won't because they all want their deal fulfilled.
I probably cooked ass, but the Sinner Prologue is basically done. Really glad I got 5.something k words in a day - haven't managed that since Fate. Still have to clean and edit it (and look for art but I might give up on that cause It's my least favorite part). Will post next thread, probably in a few hours if I can stay awake.
Sorry in advance to
>>95932436 , I really like the character but editing her in would take more mental energy than i have right now. I'll focus on her in my next writefag, if you don't introduce her with your own before then.
>>95932683>I thought they were just repurposed prisoners or indentured workers. Its voluntary, at the very worst its coerced. Limbus Company usually swooped up the Sinners after their worst moments and promised to fulfill a desire of theirs. If they do their part, the company will complete their side of the deal, and even though they are a new corporation the power of a Wing gives huge opportunities that most people couldn't achieve in their lifetimes.
>>95932703It's alright, I posted her pretty late. Due to her role, she's probably in Limbus HQ at the start of the tour while Minos meets his first batch of Sinners. I'll chip away at a writefag of my own, got plenty of ideas.
>>95932672I forgot about Mephistopheles.
I am now but a fraud...
>>95932711>he forgot about the true protagonist of Limbus CompanySinners, run him over and feed this man to the bus.
>>95932705nta, but Limbus Company isn't a wing. Just a company. Otherwise they wouldn't be such a literal who.
>>95932711It's OK anon. We can't give you your vroom vroom loicense this time, but there's always next time! Don't give up hope! Some day you'll get to vroom vroom!
>>95932719True. Wing candidate might be more appropiate. Either way they are in the process of amassing huge amounts of resources from scavenging the old L corp and collecting the Boughs that they've gotten partnerships with existing Wings for decent political power in terms of getting contract jobs and access through the Districts.
>>95932730I agree to that, yeah. Their connections and resources are clearly very deep. Either they're preparing to become a wing, they're secretly a subset of a wing, or something similar. The writers might surprise us, but it's the most reasonable interpretation at this point.
have you ever wondered about what certain colors mean?
Yo four summer classes sucks.
>>95929351That all sounds cool to me. I considered giving Lancelot the betrayed drawback myself, but I wasn't sure how to do it without seeing the other vamp builds yet, and from the perspective of the family he may be more the betrayer anyways depending on their level of allegiance to their "Father."
Regarding your last paragraph, perhaps Lance had already been starting to crack under the weight of maintaining his forced role in their imitation family for so long, and for his gruesome participation in the expansion of their family's power. And then the betrayal of the one who most bought into this horrific performance, by those family members Desdemona most trusted, is what finally prompted Lancelot's rebellion. Perhaps he believed she was forever lost as a distortion or dead, and he's unsettled by her appearance at L-Corp and colder than she expected. Or maybe he was always that way. I imagined him attempting to keep any old "siblings" at arm's length, viewing them as victims who can't be helped until the monster is cut at its head. Just some ideas based on what you said.
I also did assume she'd call him Big Brother or Lance-y or something similarly affectionate even if he's trying to treat her the same as any other Sinner. His nature makes him not particularly good at that; however, and I assume they're uniquely good at fighting together in combat.

>>95933077>What are singularities? They're the "pretty much magic" ultra high tech bullshit that each giga corp holds and base their business upon. Although it's not exclusively held by the Wings, since as they're tech people do invent new technologies worthy of being a singularity or they eventually become public domain because their respective Wing went under. A quick rundown of some canon singularities is:
>W CorpOfficially it's a dimensional transportation device, but in truth that's actually a tech from an old wing. Their actual singularity is Save State, which allows them to save and rewind objects.
>T CorpIt's time bullshit, storing, slowing, speeding up time etc.
>K CorpThey have a big eye abomination chained in their HQ that they milk tears from, and create a special juice that allows you to heal up good.
>U CorpThey're tuning forks that allow you to fuse objects into one and then split later on
>R CorpIt's a pretty simple singularity that allows them to clone people en mass. They use it to mass produce clone soldiers that they train up via a partnership with T Corp by shoving em into the hyperbolic time chamber.
>>95933151By "full", you mean the reddit troon dlc.
>>95933077Superscience shit. Cityanon's a big doodoohead who wants you to wikicrawl, but dw Anon's here to hook you up.
F - "Faires" that act as keys which can unlock anything, even zipping people open into big piles of gore.
G (old) - Genetic manip to make gross cockroach soldiers.
G (new) - Gravity manip.
H - Chinese alchemy "boluses" that heal and have a bevvy of biological effects but mutate you too. Comes in 12 Zodiac Animals theme if you don't want to think up your own freak mutant bolus.
J - Lets you "lock" things, even mentally. Opposite of F Corp basically.
K - Ampoules that are hella good at healing but can also be used to melt people. Restore people to how their mind thinks they 'should' be.
L (old) - Ugly poisonous smoke with mindfuck effects.
L (new(er)) - Extracts monsters from the human subconscious based on human experience, extracts tools and energy from said monsters.
M - Moonstones that shield your mind from trauma or mental corrosion (city has weapons designed to drive you batshit babbling crazy)
N - Canned human experiences. Also, suicide booths.
P - Makes extremely secure buildings.
Q - Not!Japan. Weird goopy talisman magic that constructs things and 'spells' from ink.
R Corp - Cloning battle royale facilities in hyperbolic time chambers to create supersoldiers.
T Corp - Time manipulation hellscape where everyone uses time as a currency and are moving at different speeds due to that and if you don't pay your time tax they send time enforcers to do clock and ball torture to you. And whatever they're doing to fuck with time drains color from the air. Don't go to fucking T Corp.
U Corp - Magic tuning forks that "fuse" things together perfectly. Also on a weird fucked up ocean filled with monsters.
W Corp - Dimensional travel and ripping up space, but also, ever read Stephen King's The Jaunt? It's like that.
X Corp - They specialize in extremely strong metal alloy used by others to build the best equipment. And they got knights.

Perks: Keter, Binah, Hokma, Viciousness of Combat, Claim Their Bones, Adaptability, Shin
Tools: Tier 3: Simple Katana, Tier 2: Flattering Suit
Drawbacks: No Augments (Superhuman Constitution), Hunted (Survivor, Old Syndicate), A (The Script)
Reverse Katanaโข: This is a deceptively simple weapon of such extreme craftsmanship as to outperform any lesser weapon with ease. It boasts no special features but is almost indestructable in its simplicity and posessed of a extremely keen blade, the only oddity is that its cutting side is on the curved inner side.
Flattering Suitโข: In line with their other tool, this suit is somewhat resistant to damage and can mend itself from any damage. From the battlefield to a board meeting with no need to change.
An enigmatic amnesiac who remembers nothing from their previous life. Ronin posesses no unique power, No augmentations, and some very bland tools. And yet they seem to be able to perform impossible feats through intensity of their emotions and the ability to strip people of the crutches they rely on.
Hitokiri Battosai was an assassin for one of the numerous syndicates in the City, they had a mental break and wandered off mission and were hired to be a Sinner. They never were released from their previous contract and its almost guranteed that the Syndicate will want to retrieve its asset.

>>95933265Their singularity is actually one of the shittiest ones. Not only does it put you in a pocket dimension for thousands of years like in the Stephen King short story The Jaunt, its only possible for it to survive as a Wing due to a second entirely different Singularity that they have access to, which allows them to recover you back to the original state you entered the train in. >>95932883What's a guide?
>>95933638Basically a powerful non-sinner who is mostly forbidden from fighting, whose job is to tell the sinners what their next job is, and to bail them out if and only if the mission fails. Basically a babysitter.
>>95933671So for this initial set up that would be Ringo or Mr Minos is that right?
>>95933680More Ringo, although he might not be strong enough to completely fill the role. (Canon guide is a straight up color fixer). Expectation for the guide is someone strong enough to bail the group out *after* they get wiped. Meaning stronger than the combined forces of all 12 sinners with Mr.Minos constantly reviving them all by a significant amount. Ringo is tough, but I don't know if he's that tough, you know? Less his fault and more the way the CYOA works out.
Mr. Minos is the Dante stand-in, also referred to as the manager... Let alone being strong enough to bail the group out if they all fall, he can't even be expected to 1v1 the sinners since he burnt 120 points on the dante perk. You'd be asking him to solo an enemy that can simultaneously handle 12 infinitely reviving people who are all stronger than him.
>>95933709Yeah okay that makes sense. Its funny I've been reading the wiki and still don't really understand the setup or framework for storylines.
>>95933709What about Onyx? Thats our only real fixer and she seems color-tier.
>>95933739Honestly your time would probably be better spent just watching a video of the story bits from the game or something. It'd likely get the important information across better and in less time compared to trying to sift through the wiki and piece stuff together yourself.
I suppose if there's one thing to stress, it's that the sinners are the core of the story. There's some minor side-quests in between, but the important things are to obtain a mcguffin called a Golden Bough, and every single one is tied to a sinner and their past, with that being the real reason why Limbus Company chose them to be the sinners. So the main story beats end up being more about personal drama and rising beyond it, as opposed to struggling against evil badguy #7.
>>95933779I don't know what to make of her. She calls herself a color, the build lists her as grade 1, and she's also mid grade. My best guess is she saw the text in "Death, I, Survive" and took it literally, but by that logic several of our Sinners are color tier too.
Even looking past all that, I think if I judge her fairly she'd get hamstringed by the no augments drawback. It's not as bad on Ringo since he's a gunner, but for an upfront physical fighter like Onyx "not defenseless" is really just not good enough. Other color tier threats will have hax of their own, and many of them won't be as direct as hers. She really needs the ability to speedblitz them down, and she can't do that when her speed is probably on par with like Level II-III augments.
>>95933868 (me)
Also gn anons. I'm heading out.
>>95933868>speedblitzas an aside, is there a more boring and lame way to approach a combat character?
>>95933868being able to cut anything in half is pretty busted though
>>95934002I think anon's point is that she would be up against threats that are equally dangerous. Its not a matter of being able to win, its about being able to win and survive.
I want to make a color fixer but I know it will start a shitposting storm about self-wanking and how powerful builds should be shunned.
>>95934033Just do it anyway and don't be a little bitch?
>>95934033Same as the other guy, but also give us a reason for him to be added to the story. Powerful characters aren't bad by themselves, it's when they invalidate everyone else that it becomes a problem.
>>95934033make a self-wanking build so i have an excuse to post my self-wanking build
>>95933868Her anon says shes not a color but basically everyone who knew the lore said she would be fine as a color.
>>95934084>>95933868I could bite the bullet and make her a color, since it seems were sinner focused and I made them before that was the case.
But as this anon says in the next thread
>>95934024 a grade 1 isnt necessarily weaker than a color. She just doesn't have a real noteworthy specialization beyond hunting vampires. She's just a good fighter, and thats every Grade 1.
>>95934092The fact that a quarter of the sinners are vampires makes her seem like a fitting reoccurring villain.
>>95934097Fangers are worse than gangers.

General Perks: War Veteran, Unnatural Emanation (Blood Metal)
Fixer Perks: Weapon Master (Body), Weapon Master (Body), Weapon Master (Body), Death I Survive (Warrior), Death I Survive (Warrior), Death I Survive (Warrior), Signature Combat (Tiger Claw Style), Shin
Tier 1 Tool: Infinite Lighter (A lighter that never seems to run out.)
Tier 2 Tool: Hunter's Mask (Mask that filters all contaminants from the air they breath)
Tier 3 Tool: Perfect Suit (A suit that remains pristine at all times, rendering all attacks greatly reduced)
Special Power: The simplest of powers. Cutting something in half. The distance between her and her enemy, their arm from their body... A very versatile skill. It requires something sharp to utilize but all things are equal in that regard. A shard of glass is as viable a cutting implement as a sword for its purposes.
Signature Combat: Tiger Claw style is as brutal as it is simple. Delivering deep wounds to the enemy using claw weapons, fingernails or less commonly short blades. Its enhancements allow one to extend their weapon with air pressure to pierce and cut at greater distances.
Unnatural Emanation: Though she can actually just extend metallic looking blood claws from her fingers, so it's pretty easy in her case. This technique was stolen from a powerful blood fiend who finds the idea of a human utilizing the technique a grave insult. It would cause someone of a lesser constitution to pass out because it hardens the users own blood into weaponry.
Organization: Bus Babysitter
Drawbacks: Hunted (Survivor)(Fangers), No Augments (Superhuman Constitution)
>>95934345Nyx suffers from a rare medical condition that makes her body reject all augmentation which could have held her back from a Color designation were her skills not so exceptional and her power so absurd, As far as an unaugmented individual goes her constitution is quite impressive still and she has trained ten times as hard as anyone else and fought three times as hard to make up for it. Her designation is undeniable as a result.
She spends a lot of time hunting blood fiends but not as much as they spend hunting her due to the onesided nature of the grudge. She fights with simple effective brutality that only a few of the most hardened fixers can manage without having lost their humanity in the process.

>>95934369Kinda? Other than filling out the company, outsiders are likely to interact with the crew once unless they were following the bus for some reason. If you don't care about that, there's still wageslave and gang stuff with the remaining cast that's less restrictive in terms of story and requirements. It's a bit similar to MHA where things still happen outside the school. Though I won't lie and say it won't be an uphill climb due to the lack of inherent interaction that being a sinner has.
>>95932883If I were to make a guide, would they be a fixer or a wings of the world?
>>95934479>>95933709 says that the canon guide is a fixer. It might be possible to use wings of the world and flavor them as an employee of limbus but I'm not a canon expert.
>>95933349who is your character, anon?
>>95935150Chihiro's cute feet
>>95934345>Onyx Hunter>Look inside>Primarily RedI guess she gets a small pass due to her black sclera but the Hunter part feels a bit lame. Where's the pizzazz, the marketability? What stops someone else from being a Hunter compared to her? Usually the name encompasses some recognizable trait, like the Black Silence who wears almost entirely black and is completely silent from his gloves, the Vermillion Cross from the giant ass cross he wields, or even the Indigo Elder who's also just wearing a colour but he's really fuckin old for a guy who's still in the Fixer profession. What would make her instantly recognizable by seeing her and pulling her name into mind?
>>95935837How boring she is
>>95936451I mean I don't think she's a bad build or anything, but the name's definitely boring. It probably doesn't held that she doesn't seem to hunt Fangers as much as she is hunted by them and is killing in self defense. Like she may have started to imitate their moves but ultimately her gimmick is killing bloodfiends which is a decent niche considering that most people don't really deal with abnormalities/distortions/monsters which those guys fall under the purview of, but literally anyone else can do it too. She's not even the best at it, she's just doing it to survive and it seems like something she could drop the moment they ease up.
