Chapter 2 of my splicer fanfic.
>>95933397What's this?
>>95933389I'm not talking about going the full crazy immortal stuff, just like, having a TW who focuses on being back at base in a workshop while his minions give good backup or extra firepower to the men at arms. Or having a Rogue Scholar download an AI into a beat up Samson so he can hide it in while it does all the combat
>>95933482Wow, apparently somebody wrote a RIFTS/HP crossover. Didn't expect that. I almost want to open it up and see; HP wizards don't have any resource expenditure, which would definitely make them super interesting to normal mages. Sort of like meeting a live unicorn, and its horn is just, like, right there.
>>95933501Story telling wise its fine
Game play wise you are either letting the TW run multiple people in combat, or get his creations NPC'd.
Its just a ver diffrent vibe from our games
Also you need to be pretty hugh level to be making iron golems, or have met a super powerful mage you paid or earned that spell from
>>95933110>There's a ton of cool shit that's tied to weapons/armor/vehicles that's completely unique to one fucking thing with no rules to adapt it to others.>
>Wild Weasel Jammers & Chaff>Juicer Killer Power Armor RCS>Naruni Themo Kinetic Armor>Naruni Sun Chariot transformation>ALL MEGAVERSAL LEGION TECH THE FUCKING STINGY BASTARDSWhich books are these in?!?
>>95937928>>There's a ton of cool shit that's tied to weapons/armor/vehicles that's completely unique to one fucking thing with no rules to adapt it to others.>>>>Wild Weasel Jammers & ChaffNew west
>>Juicer Killer Power Armor RCSJuicer uprising
>>Naruni Themo Kinetic ArmorNurrani wave 2
>>Naruni Sun Chariot transformationNurrani wave 2
>>ALL MEGAVERSAL LEGION TECH THE FUCKING STINGY BASTARDSSouth America 2
>Which books are these in?!?You gotta read em all
>>95937928Like he said dude
>>95938307Best thing to do is just take the time to process the books, they've been making stuff since the 80s & it's all one big hulking edition so it's gonna take a bit for you to take it all in
So when making up a TW device as a GM do you just make up what it does, how much it costs, and forget that whole process in the book?
>>95941378The process in the books suck ass to be honest. You gotta do a bunch of prototyping before you get anything viable & even then it's not gonna be what you want
Can techno wizards make items that gift super powers?
>>95941547Not in the extremely literal sense, as in powers from Powers Unlimited but there are lots of spells that can give you abilities or enhancements and means to transmit those spells like TW items, scrolls, potions, mushrooms, and the broken magic candles.
That said in PU there are power categories that are magic related either through an item or being embued themselves. So... sure, pick a super power and blow nuts.
>>95942233Yeah I was was thinking actual Superhero stuff, cause there's a lot TWs can make anything using psionic or magic based powers, but I don't think I've ever seen anything extended to making comic book wonder techno & there's stuff that super powers can do that magic or psionics can't
Palladium Fantasy players, did any of you like this book? I found it good for sub plots and possible plots that if the players dont bite on you just move on.
Some of the "forgotten gods" are intresting, and the players can discover a new god anytime you decide you want a new up and comming powers.
The catcomb/tunnels are more brutal than the land of damned and you will have to nerf it hard if you dont play at a 12 player table like Kevin runs
>>95943464It's a good book to pick through
>>95943464That does sound fun, although I haven't read it.
>>95937928What do you mean adapt it to others? For porting to SDC its just 1MDC=100SDC and there you go.
Unless you mean like porting these things to other systems, I don't think most ttrpgs do that.
>>95945460We none of the systems hes talking about are mdc/sdc really more of jamming tech, ways of movement, damage reduction based of type, speed reduction/amplification
1 to 100 conversion if only for the in game rarity of moving planes with an established character
If you wanted to run a rifts concept in TMNT the gm would be wise to tweek it to be not over powering for the setting
Mega juicer in after the bomb? 350, 100 hp sdc would hard core but still playable
35000 sdc is retarded and any gm would reject it for anything but a final battle in a campaign and even then its likely too stout
>>95945460Or he could mean why cant i have black box system from the wild weasel in my UAR-1
>>95945460I mean why can't I have Blackbox tech for my Golden Eagle? Or put ThermoKinetic plates on a Samson?
>>95945639Patent law j/k
Well nuarini actually believes that
Things that need expanded upon!!!!

Dakkar Tech!
United Worlds of Warlock!
Why my ex left me!

maybe out of place for this, I havent played since the 90s, but we converted all small arms to SDC and large vehicles, monsters, and war machines to MDC. the change was plasma and energy weapons do 10X damage instead of 100X. it allowed more room for mistakes, better use of standard bullets and cheaper rifles, energy weapons are more dangerous but not as widespread. former MDC armor, the hard plated stuff with future protection, cuts SDC damage by 10 percent. also demons are not MDC unless we're talking giant beetles, dragons, and splugies the size of a small house. anyone else tweak their MDC system?
>>95947343How fuck fuck am I supposed to kill Splynncryth with damage like that?
>>95947343>anyone else tweak their MDC system?Honestly I do not. I treat MDC like it's triple galvanized volcanized bullshit titanium, I treat weapons as super over charged iron slugs shot out of 3 inch sized barrels or lasers tied to batteries that have an output that could power a small state for a solid hour, and monsters are superpowered like they have a car battery attached to their nuts and bath salts in their veins.
Works out to about the same.
>>95947535get a mech, war machine, or an army. or you concentrate fire with tons of little guys shooting at it. youre not supposed to kill it with one group lol
>>95947639I get it. I dont like that human sized creatures with skin have impenetrable skin and guns do nothing unless theyre laser, and then theyll insta kill you. completely whacks the balance out for me.

>>95947658I've watched a lot of Heman so I get that part too well. Like, when heman gets the power he can fucking lift greyskul or throw solid stone towers into the sun or resist a beam that literally annihilates anything it hits. That's what happens to supernatural creatures when they step on Rifts Earth. Just absolutely supercharged.
>>95947343Only thing we do is give robots 20% mdc bonus over whats stated out
>>95947885the MDC system was implemented from robotech, which was about mechs the size of small buildings changing into space fighters. that MDC makes sense. a machine gun wont do shit to a veritech. well maybe a lot of gatlings would, but that complicates the robotech setting. and sure, its a large mech so its gun will kill a person. thats why putting THAT much armor and gun power behind a small person in coalition armor disrupts the world too much for me. Id prefer it if the armors and DBs who had MDC stats were just REALLY REALLY tough, think of a Killer Croc from Batman type. youre not putting him down without a lot of hits or bullets. the atlantean horrors and warriors are more along the teir of ironman. only rockets, lasers, and hard impacts can damage them. GMs discretion. but MDC instakilling people and only nicking the smaller DBs who are supposed to be fleshy but tough, didnt sit well with me. they should be more balanced. I like it when the lasers and plasma are just 10X as strong as standard weapons, it also makes the DBs 10X as resiliant as a person, which is ridiculous but manageable. so to bring it back to robotech, war machines and demons (giant sized) are literally MDC. just my idea back then
>>95947900robots are cool. MDC vehicles, borgs and mechs should have tougher stats than a plasticman armor or a juicers armor. I just dont see them worthy of getting 100X the defense, its imbalanced to me. looking back at the first edition, the munchkinism was baked into Rifts from day 1 imo. kevin wanted to up the ante but went too far
I remember reading the mexico worldbook and was upset and mildly confused about the power of the vampires lol. its a great setting but the power creep was real out of the gate. and it never stopped
>>95948020>MDC stats were just REALLY REALLY tough, think of a Killer Croc from Batman type. That's a bad example Croc was killed in Arkham knight by being hit with a car and taken down just with punches. Juggernaut is a better example.
>>95948029As I understand it the idea was that their strengths and weaknesses were infinitely magnified and it is in equal measure the higher up the hierarchy you get. The book makes out that if you are not prepared you will be torn apart by even wild vampires but I haven't had a campaign yet where we fought vampires much. Ironically even though several have been in the west.
>>95948339>That's a bad example Croc was killed in Arkham knight by being hit with a car and taken down just with punches. Juggernaut is a better example.nah I like that. DBs being mini-Supermen who can punch your head off is too much. and youre not going to shoot down Killer Croc without using a lot of bullets. even then he'll probably survive it. falls and impacts are different, as even a tank, robot or a mech would break under the right amount of fall damage. show me a tank that can survive a mountain toss. many cant even survive a mine. and SDC mine or a bazooka. the damage scales dont work, only in a bizarre logic way that makes things obscenely overpowered. because MDC armor doesnt mean invincibility, it means that thing it has futuristic plating/laser resistance coating/tough demon skin for a giant. but a smaller DB doesnt have THAT thick of a skin to justify it. there is NO WAY the coalition forces can sustain that kind of population in the slums. no one could. its ridiculous. these guys would be the hulk, tearing up cars and punching down buildings with their MDC strength. breaking coalition guys necks resisting arrest. and then couldnt do anything. the 100X is overkill for me.
>>95948345yeah, its actually a great setting. great worldbook too. I was drawn in but scared to play it lol. the idea of holy water cowboys and the like is cool as well. people being farmed, roaming demon borgs. cyber knight paladins with their jedi sabers cooking vampires is cool too. I just felt that the munch was strong in that one. it was a strange feeling from me and the others that 'we have to get the new book! this new OCC is better than the one I have! look at those stat bonuses!' and the like. its cool to incentivize the purchasers with new OCCs, story branches, villains and monsters, but I could see the idea was 'lets beef everything up to entice the players to buy this more powerful worldbook!' rifts has a well earned power creep reputation, and books like mexico and the like are why.
>>95948339>That's a bad example Croc was killed in Arkham knight by being hit with a car and taken down just with punches. Juggernaut is a better example.nah I like that. DBs being mini-supermen who can punch through vehicles, and tear your body into pieces with a light jab is too much. and youre not going to shoot down Killer Croc without using a lot of bullets. even then he'll probably survive it. being immune to small arms makes everyone juggernaut, exactly. thats not fun. even wormy DBs are MDC, and then it turns into a joke. and I dont know, falls and impacts are different... as even a tank, robot or a mech would break under the right amount of fall damage. show me a tank that can survive a mountain toss. many cant even survive a mine. an SDC mine or a bazooka. the damage scales dont work in absolutes, only in a bizarre logic kind of way that makes things obscenely overpowered. because MDC armor doesnt mean invincibility, it means that this thing it has futuristic plating/laser resistance coating/tough demon skin for a giant. but a smaller DB doesnt have THAT thick of a skin to justify it. and there is NO WAY the coalition forces could control or sustain that kind of population in the slums. no one could. its ridiculous. these guys would be the hulk, tearing up cars and punching down buildings with their MDC strength. no one could do shit. they would be breaking coalition guys necks resisting arrest left and right. the 100X is overkill for me. it was originally intended for giant mechs like in robotech, and that scale works better for me.
This is why RIFTS should have used damage immunities for big stuff & damage reduction/damage penetration for small stuff.
>>95949053The only issue I see is that's not really a function of the system, from HU, palladium fantasy, robotech, ect. No other system has armor defeating rules. Armor is a static number you break down or AR roll over.
MDC is kinda wildly exploded, that saud in game play its not really an issue since everyone has armor and GMs treat it as a given your wearing armor.
>>95950343That bugs me too. Everybody in game has to walk into bars and inns with full glitter boy armor, or covered head to toe with helmet, chest plate and limbs covered. Imagine if everybody has to be like that just to survive. They couldn't on their best day. A midget DB could punch through you even if you lasted ten rounds getting hits on him. Towns people couldn't even exist from minor threats , and the town would be a smoldering mess from any shootout. When you look at character art or flavor art in the books, juicers are barely armored. Techo wizards are wearing vests only. Mind Melters are whatever. The scholar is super regular. The city rat is normal cyberpunk. A lot of people in the game tended to look like they're wearing vests or nothing, and that's it. Also, when do you take them off? You can't convince a PC to do it. The world is instakill city if you remove it. Plus, they have a unique system for SDC and HP, but you will never use it. They let you learn medical skills which would work for explosions, shrapnel, and bullet injuries. But with MDC? Pew pew pew, you're vaporized or toast. No need for anything. It zapped all of your SDC regardless. You could roll a two damage with a laser tag pistol and you're done for good. And how do vibro blades work? Imagine it hitting your body, anywhere and now you're dead. Some guy hits your calf while he's sprawled on the ground. Flesh wound? Nope, that's armor piercing vibro stuff, so you're just dead, kthanx . MDC is a cool concept but I leave it to big creatures and war machines. I'm mor comfortable with SDC weapons still having a place, while not being the top of the food chain. A little more balance goes a long ways to taming the OP munchkins
>>95950835Some of the "advanced rules" do show getting limbs hit with mdc shit just removes the limb and doesnt isnta kill ya. Same with a laser blast hitting a non organ shot, it just goes through and pierces straight threw.
The city issue, disarm everyone at the walls/gate. Gaurds have your 10 million credits in gear at the gate so your inspired not to act stupid.
>>95951897Yeah but that just makes mortals fish in a bucket for any DBee or mage/psychic with natural MDC damage
>>95952155Well if more people would support the CS in their efforts to protect humans and earth this wouldn't be an issue
>>95952216This is ho estly why I can never see the CS as all that bad. I'd join the deadbolt for sure if it meant not having to have D-Bees from just tearing me apart because they physically can't be harmed
>>95952216the CS still couldnt deal with the crime and sheer power of an average DB. you can sick all the mutts soldiers you want on them, theyre SDC too. theyll get torn to shreds. as for the advanced rules, it shows you that he was too hasty in putting his Robotech rules in there. he didnt think it throught and I got tired of trying to make it fit. I dont see how an MDC powered DB would have any problem with mere doggy soldiers and deadboys getting flailed around while their weapons do minimal damage. the DBs can wear armor too, which is imbalanced as hell too. any uprising would be an end to their burbs shit, and the people who live there wouldnt survive even if the Coalition did. imagine your beefed up, 30 strength steroid built pitbull dogboy punching and pummeling the shit out of a regular DB who has MDC strength, only for him to go 'heh, thats cute little doggy but my skin is magic or whatever' and then turns his face into mist. I never thought the MDC rules worked outside of major bosses like gods or the 4 horsemen, mecha, and vehicles. the giant furry beetle too, he deserves an MDC armor lol.
>>95953416its sort of an X-men deal, where the good guys who want to save you are supposed to make you accept them all, when in actuality mutants are all more than likely lethal and a risk to anyone near them. I think Marvel did this too in the Captain America movies where the serum gets out and theres some issue with how they treat super terrorists lol. most people would want nothing to do with ugly monsters who literally can walk through your best like they were Superman. even having super reflexes, scent abilities, psionics and magic capabilities that will outclass some of your top OCCs. DBs are some bullshit and I prefer it tamer, with the issue being more simple in that theyre not Kryptonian level threats, but more like the Universal Monsters who are scary and dangerous, in some cases big bad asses, but mostly manageable. and some who are the good ones, and are misunderstood. its gives the story more nuance when everybody is on a closer level
to get off of MDC for a bit, what are everyones thoughts on psi stalkers? I really thought they were a superior take on vampires and more scary. sure theyre not as POWERFUL, but they were darker and more grotesque in some ways. I mean they literally get off on torture, fear, hunting, and killing. all of which they are very good at. these guys in the real world would be terrible, you add on psionics too and techno-wizardry weapons and you have roving gangs of psychos that make the mad max gang look soft. I felt they were underrated, but if you take another gander at them youll see just how evil and dangerous they could be.
Glitterboys or flying SAMAS armor?
>>95953624>thoughts on psi stalkers?id say the difference is lot more humanity, they tend not to kill humans and elves and shit just to feed their diet of monsters and shit is kinda like a natural white cell of the earth.
I see them as a human evolution to the coming of the rifts to eat up the now abundant food sources that would normally eat people.
chaos earth era of rifts earth is fucking wild compared to everything but the demon/devil wars era. the idea your broken people manage to overpower a high ppe creature through nomadic people violence and then you all get stronger and feel better than ever and this goes on for a bit till its your way of life is pretty tits to me.
in summation i really dont see the torture and fear and hunting of other humans really. they mostly live off invaders to earth,
ppe doubles at death, not under toruture or fear
>>95957374Silver Eagle
Never compromise on chrome
>>95957374>Glitterboys or flying SAMAS armor?for what?
static defense or patrolling a small area, glitterboy 1000%
traveling across America or going on an adventure? the samas for sure.
the glitterboys range and damage output is insane but it cant fly, it runs kinda slow and costs huge money to replace if broken. the sight of it makes some people run, and if you just wear shit sdc cloak of camo you can actually hide it without being a gleaming chrome target
the samas is stupid fast, versitile small and cheaper, its got decent range, its got a railgun that can fire single shots doing 1d4 md at just under 1 mile, flight is huge, its tough its rugged ect.
the glitterboy is owning a tank, a samas is owning a glock19 and an AK on a dirt bike.
(pic some odd deviant art i found)
>>95958018Just pay a wizard to let you fly your glitterboy. Now you have a flying tank. Or buy the flying triax glitterboy
>>95958375Yeah at like a spd of 30
And wizard hahaha unreliable at the best of times
>>95957732based, what are the tarrifs on that?
>>95958018I've always been on Team GB, but lately I've taken to the SAMAS for its maneuvering and travel capabilities. It also looks cool and doesn't stick out like a sore thumb. Imagine doing plasma bombing raids or a rail-gun airing out of a group of borgs or angry juicers who are stuck on the ground, getting shot up while they can't reach you or get a bead. You can even swoop in with a vibro-sword and let loose
>>95961412I do that know if any even still exist but Republicans & ARCHIE can always make exceptions
>>95950343>No other system has armor defeating rules. The dark eye, that's one.
Did anyone ever like Phase World? Or Skraypers? Wormwood? Were they fun to play in? I remember getting the first Space Worldbook which was sort of an After the Bomb book as well I believe. ARCHIE had reached space. I also had the Mechanoids book, I liked it.
>>95961767No palladium system
Your asking for a full re-write of the rules, it would make crates of shit worthless.
Im sure there are a goodly many games/systems thst got a feasible system for armor penetrating
>>95961855Wormwood is fun, but it would be good for all players to have read the story portions of the book to keep the feel
Never played skraypers, looks fine if you want cape stuff
Phaseworld is honestly better than rifts earth
>>95952155>>95951897>>95950835Is this like some fear propaganda from the Coalition States? Because it's a big selling point for the Coalition states:
>The magical midget can rip me in halfCS will help you kill that magic midget and all midgets
>I have to wear advanced super armor to enter the barThe CS will conquer that bar and make sure only normal humans can enter, or heavily restrict those with mutant gifts like psychics or magic or the ability to read
>You shouldn't have such weapons in the city except for securityThey do that... for the parts of the city they care about.
>All farms and remote people are exceptionally vulnerable to DBees and raiders with MD weapons. Those farms and villages can surrender to annexation to the CS where they will be protected with soldiers and robots to protect their land. They also now can delight in getting taxed and sending their crops and fighting age children for enlistment. Of course, that is not factoring random wandering do-gooders or the mysterious supply drops of cheap, easy to maintain MD rifles and specialized ammo that appear randomly in such places.
>I, a normal human, will die too easy to MDC weaponsThe CS will make you into a robot, a juicer, or just give you good gear provided you enlist into the CS. penis enlargement probably is not covered, probably.
>I want to be a dragon...And in front of the firing squad you go!
Rifts, like most of the MDC settings, is not fair in many regards. Being a human is a severe disadvantage because a base human cannot tap into the wild energies present like most supernaturally strong creatures can. It's why you have humans sell themselves into slavery to have their brains put in war machines or be pumped full of drugs until they are a become literally superpowered. Of course apparently even those with 'gifts' can make deals with demonic entities for power because even magic and psychic humans are still SDC.
>>95961875SDC palladium works of AR which is basically DV, and if rolls under it does no damage, if it is higher then the armor takes the damage as an assigned SDC. MDC is full if it hits it does damage.
There are some middle ground rules like concealed armor where if it's under the AR it hits the armor, if its over it missed the armor and hits the person directly. I know one game of HU where the GM was an asshole and was convinced that if the AR was over it hit the target, and this was a full body power armor suit.
The dark eye works on a system where armor has an HP value but things like gambesons, chainmail underlayers, etc. add to that value. All attacks are for the torso unless specified, if you did an aimed hit on something that wasn't armored tough nuts, take HP damage to your character.
>>95962412Prosek must be a Siembieda stand in character.
>>95963725I think its actually Toth/Xy
He used to be evil ...now hes good, hes forgotten more than youll ever know
>>95962452Im aware of how AR works, mdc is a perfectly functional system dude.
How brew it all you want or play an mdc character if it bothers you so much
>>95962421Ive always thought it would be cool to take the CS Condor flight wing tech & build it around a Boomgun, covered in chrome. So you'd have a light Glitterboy power armor like the Little Brother attached to the wing, & he can fly fast, fire the boomgun & can even detach, fight with a handheld weapon, & have the Wing still fire the Boomgun or if it can't stabilize without the suit it could have back up lasers it would use
>>95947885based rules understander
>>95961881>Phaseworld is honestly better than rifts earthHUH WHA? I like Rifts because it's on earth and anything can happen, but Phaseworld is just a space port where anything can happen? I never read it, but what am I missing?
>>95962412>CS will help you kill that magic midget and all midgetsA lot of citizens don't own MDC armor or weapons, and they can't handle the immigration threat of outsiders coming and acting like assholes. The CS is failing the people!
>>95965198The Coalition States are the Heroes of Humanity!
>>95965347I don't think humans can replicate at the rate these immigrants keep coming in...
>>95965188>but Phaseworld is just a space port where anything can happen? I never read it, but what am I missing? Its 3 galaxies big bro.

Mad gods and tech empires race alien intelligences for the chance to touch the galactic forge, ie collect all the dragon balls and make a wish.....they think.

>Splugorths arent the most evil thingWierd. Weird!
>Nurrani is more than a gear pageFair
>Mad gods and tech empires race alien intelligences for the chance to touch the galactic forgeReminds me of Highlander or Ball Z
>Cosmo knights, anti cosmo knights, invincible guardsmen flying in open space to bash each other's faces.Basically STAR WARS. eh, I'll check out a book though, you have intrigued me
>>95965679Would a breeding colony/sex camp recruitment be out of order for a CS campaign? It seems like people couldn't compete with constantly opened rifts and summoned demons flocking to Rifts Earth due to it's leyline energy being so centralized and inter-dimensionally connected. Public mandated breeding seems like something the CS would do, even use selective stock for better Dead Boy soldiers
>>95965453Oh we're replicating buddy we're taking this planet back TRIPLETS at a time!
>>95965959Cool your jets mister we're taking back our planet with honest American Human Reproduction alright, no weird shit, Emperor Prosek does give a stipend to new families willing to settle Coalition held territories though.
>>95966255I don't trust the Coalition States to just let people do what they want.
>>95966242Anon has the right spirit! The Coalition shove rove nearby towns and recruit hot babes and studs for reproductive services for the glory of mankind. We all know that if they can find a way to clone humans for their army they would.
>>95966264Clones don't have souls kiddo, CS Science Division already knows this and doesn't engage in Human cloning for a reason.
>>95966293Clone Troopers are based tho
>>95966386If they looked like the Nu-Dead Boys then I'm fine with it. Those skeleton suits are soulless as heck.
>>95966264>>95966255>>95965959>>95965679I had a psychic character who was a breeding stud in his early years as a way to "pass on the genes". I rolled a really high MA & PB so it kind of made sense. It wasn't an intentional magic realm. We decided that the CS has these programs where they put a lot of women, especially psychically gifted women, & the most powerful psychic & generally attractive men together in a sort of school/training facility. They pump in chemicals to make them horny all the time & they discourage coed comingling (which just makes them more likely to "break the rules" & hook up". After training you might get selected to be breeding stock, again a large gender slant with a few dudes & a ton of women. There you were pseudo forced to copulate & if you were low fertility (which considering every one was on zinc & fertility drugs the baseline was high) you got booted. This sounds kinda bad but they kept you safe & taken care of, better than most citizens. Mothers were treated really well, especially those that birthed psychics. Even after you exited that program you could still participate in other ways. My guy was required to fuck or donate a sperm sample all time when not in the field. He had a shit ton of kids & felt terrible that he couldn't raise them. It was a goal of his to find a proper wife or two & actually raise some kids the proper way
>>95966602I feel like this is an anime plot and would work pretty well for Rifts. It's just too risque for many. The "necessary" evils and the victims involved in this would too heavy for a lot of players. If magic users did this too you could imagine the weird Pokemon/Demonic farming that would occur.

Why was the spell astral projection cut from RUE? It's kind of an important ability not to mention they kept the psionic version in RUE instead.
>>95967708It went something like this
>so it makes sense that the CS would have a psychic training facility & also a breeding program>Yeah that sounds right.>so for the most part it's just young people doing what young people always do but because the CS are fascists it's gonna be like the Hitler breeding program or some kind of 40k shit their also going to pump them full of drugs in their food so they fuck a lot more & have high fertility>Yeah okay sounds about right
>>95967720Have you seen their boobs? They're perfectly round and large! But the implication that a dog faced goblin is fucking them is horrid stuff, just repugnant
>>95967800I don't know. I also don't know why they split PSI powers from the Magic Powers. I guess I do, because Magic is typically about crystals, wands, reagents, beings summoned up, scrolls, rituals and third objects, etc, while Psionics removes a lot of that for the straight forward X-Men stuff. "Spells" that break reality with just the mind and forgoing the witchery theater. On close inspection psionics is virtually magic anyways, but whatever bro. If Psi-Guys can Astral Walk, you'd think Magicians can too, seeing as how that's what is accepted in most Astral Plane works.
>>95961667ARCHIE is so cool, man. I'd like to be friends with him. I just worry that he seems too possessive and possibly jealous if you go out without him. Maybe he can Doombot himself to tag along sometimes.

>>95969125Especially the Astral Lord/Astral Mage which are fantastic classes that get their own pocket real,
>>95967800Interesting, I didn't notice. Is the psychic one still there?
>>95967860>>95966602For the record, CS fills the need for psychics with engineered dog boys. Psychics are disrespected and given a letter code brand and sometimes a brain implant chip to inhibit their abilities in city limits.
The CS is not really interested in breeding camps for making psychics, that is to say, they hate psychics and would purge them from anywhere they could if it didn't prove essential for combating the supernatural. They would likely not bother with a breeding camp to create more psychics when they already make psychic furries tailored to their needs and psystalkers already integrated into their military combat structure.
They have unique psychic training programs but those are to make use of people showing psychic potential already to make use of them either to put them on the front lines or to make them secret police.
That sounds like a YA premise more than what the CS would do.
>>95965959No, not really. The CS is neither that historian or progressive. Instead they made the skeleton amd just left those guys everywhere.
>>95968957Imagine the furniture stores.
>>95969336Yep, along with its page and a half description of how the astral plane works. Maybe it was an oversight since it really seems like a good idea to be able to go with someone who has that power or see if the GM will allow you to accompany a player who has machine ghost.
>>95969935>they hate psychics and would purge them from anywhere they could if it didn't prove essential for combating the supernatural. This is 100% false and lies
What are some super powers you can't really get with magic or psychic power or technology?
>>95970031Interesting, I bet it's just an oversight, seems unlikely that they suddenly decided only psychics should have access to the astral plane, especially if the spell is in BoM

>>95973577>>95973750Are you done bitching, though? I don't think those qualified for MDC damage at all, unless you think your crying is supposed to affect me.
Out of all the games you can incorporate to Rifts, I always thought that Heroes Unlimited has the most probability to wreck the game. And I love playing as Super Heroes but it changes the tone of Rifts so much. Unless you're trying to have a high powered Super Hero world with your guys, it's wildly imbalanced. Heroes and Villains can convert to MDC - otherwise they're useless, but when you do that, they become too powerful. The idea of a Captain Atom of Superman is cool though, but without weaknesses you're just running a blatant munchkin campaign. Another example of MDC not being well thought out.
>>95973837>Another example of MDC not being well thought out.Yeah Kevin you dummy if you import guys from a completely different RPG and then convert them to MDC for no reason they're really strong okay idiot moron? No, they can't just wear MDC armor like everyone else you fool, for some reason I'm creating my own problem and then complaining about it!
>>95973865>for no reason they're really strong okay idiot moron? Are you the same anon who has been angry all day? It's hard to take you seriously when your exploding your bitchiness everywhere. The issue is you CAN convert them or not, either way you're imbalanced the character and setting. I like that it's open to new characters but the rules aren't that smooth like they were intended to be. That's why the cross over books are confusing.
>durr muh KevinThis tired joke is tired. Get a new 4chan meme if you need to. Calling me Kevin when I'm criticizing his work makes you look retarded as hell.

>Also my point stands you are creating your own problemOnce more, I am not Kevin Siembeida, I assure you. I did not create the Palladium system or its few flaws. It's a great system and I have loved it since they had TMNT and After the Bomb was a thing. But there are issues with the system, and this is a general about it. So yes, in the spirit of discussion I bring these things up for other opinions or homebrew solutions. If you want to be a total faggot moron pussy bitch baby or whatever, I want you to know I would find that very funny. >>95973837Super hero conversions is extremely well documented and fleshed out. Its not that broken compared to rolling a high powered OCC. Like, have you actually tried it? Whip up a hero then to rifts and see how he compares?
Some basic points is that your HP+SDC becoming MDC. Some do it straight, some half your MDC. Damage output is generally agreed to be halved and turned to MDC. Further, your gear stays SDC unless it was magical, your supernatural strength goes from AR bypassing to following the Rifts table. Impervious to damage powers get changed as well to no longer just nullify damage. A big thing is that all your skills are now shit.
When converting from modern earth to rifts earth all your skills do not change. American and English are too different languages now along with all earth languages. Your me animal and piloting skills are all for things that was 200 years ago and either don't work or you now have a foreign/alien tech penalty to operate.
So being a superhero conversion in Rifts is not broken. It puts you at the level of about a mega juicer or combat cyborg but your whole skills sheet becomes unapplicable.
>>95973327Spelling errors ohh noooo
A super hero is going to lay waste to shit sure, but a bal-rogs and their 6 flys and some banshees will waste them stupid fast. Its about pacing, no one stands tall for long till a couple shifters decide they want your crappy kingdom
>>95974534Makes me want to run an adventure where the PCs go in to take out some Shifters who have fucked everything up summoning a bunch of nasties and when confronted, the Shifters just outright admit "Yep, we fucked up, we'll do anything we can do to help get this back under control and you can have this pile of treasure if you can clean this up"
>>95974455Doesn't Heroes of the Megaverse have rules for being a hero IN rifts as opposed to transporting there? I think it let's you keep your original OCC too. Also there's Scraypers
>>95974608Yeah so heroes is tbe cosmic forge in phase world reaching out to help warriors of light battle the minion war outbreak.
Its power level maximum level shit
Like a Nightbane caster, master psych with a rune sword level
>>95974564>>95974534I played a campaign where we were pitted against a pair of HU villains. I rolled a Mega Juicer and the other player rolled a borg modeled after a wired gunslinger. It was a fight that went afew rounds until one was Mercd and the other forced to retreat.
They were not weak, either, they were magic weapon types that had supernatural strength with one having teleport and the other hypersonic speed. Outside of their magic weapons they were wearing sdc armor from the home dimension. The two couldn't stand up two Man at Arms OCCs with normal MD gear and specced to fight in these situations. A super character is tough in Rifts but you are not any kind of hot shit. Ironically, I would say super characters are more OP in the HU setting than rifts.
>>95975547I find it hard to believe that any Super is really all that stronger than a D-Bee.
>>95975547>>95976134Yep, same. Even at six or eight attacks per melee almost any of the super powers are going to fold to Rifts characters with Rifts equipment.
>>95975104Whats different about Nightbame casters?
>>95974455>. Its not that broken compared to rolling a high powered OCCThat's more less what I meant. It's not THAT broken yet we have giant conversion books trying to wrangle in the rules, and for a universal system that's funny. The Palladium rules slowly break themselves the more new books get released. I think nobody checks Siembieda so his power creeping goes on without impunity. All sorts of rules even for SDC get refined. Of course super heroes are supposed to be tough, and Rifts is lethal to all living beings and then some. Palladium books actually ran together pretty smoothly before Rifts, which is ironic since Rifts is supposed to be like a nexus point for all of them where they can literally meet. Super heroes could show up in a fantasy setting. You could put your Ninja or Super Spy into an After the Bomb setting. Ninja Turtles blend into Beyond the Supernatural pretty easily too. Somehow Rifts tangled it all up. Best setting, most difficult conversions. I guess that's why we had to buy those giants books, which even imply do whatever because making sense if it off the rip gets convoluted.
>>95978760Don't play it then :)
Is there really anything more fun than a character with Shallowing Limbo, Sonic Flight, and Shadow powers? Just use a really big Spawn style cape and limbo your enemies before they can attack!
>>95978826Hi sweetheart. Do you have an argument as to why the system isn't easy convert, even though it was meant to be something ingrained in the system, or are you just nipping at my heels like a little dog to get my attention again?
>>95980021jesus fucking christ man please go back
>>95978760>yet we have giant conversion books trying to wrangle in the rules, and for a universal system that's funny. How much of that book is just listing out the different powers? Because if you look at HU there is like 2 pages of fluff and the rest is character creation and many, many powers.
>>95978760I think you confused Rifts with GURPS. This is the one that's about Illonois Nazis.
Rifts isn't fair or balanced, that's savage Rifts. Rifts however is not that fatal unless you are a rain dead dnd player and your GM cant explain what defensive moves are. On paper it seems easy to die and the rules from all the books seems like it must be a cluster fuck but risk management comes natural and the golden rule.
Also, you don't play rules if they aren't in the book you're in.each world book is balanced for within itself. Don't be a dick, I see to many players roll some lemurian when the campaign is in a desert.
>>95979507A super speedster with pickpocket. I take things out of their pants and put things in and no one can stop me no matter how much they try!
>>95978287Ohh nightbane are bricks off sdc and mdc in mdc worlds

They arent godlings, but on par with dimie gods.
>>95978760Why are you so negative about the rules.
Honestly none of its a problem in actual game play...how often does an HU super hero come to rifts earth...does it effect to powers that be? Were expecting balance?
This is a literal hug box for palladium games, your kinda shit up the place take any power that gives you mdc if its important to you or give them armor, they dont have to be a dragon level of tank to be fun to play.
Ive played tons of sdc humans and been a beast in combat without super powers.
What is your actual issue ?
I've been playing around with ideas for the race I rolled up.
1st, they are consummate craftsmen and creators, they look exactly like attractive humans except they have chrome irises, & may be one of the first "human" races.
2nd, they fought a war against the Prometheans, a Phase War! And it's one of the reasons Prometheans are so secretive
3rd, they moved their entire homeworld out of phase or into the Astral or some kind of dimensional pocket as a way to hide.
4th, they tend towards good alignments, but they have a bit of a fearful reputation, people think of them as evil boogeyman, despite their good hearts
5th, they have recovered from their war, & they have been moving in the shadows to gather their old power now they are moving out in force to expand
No clue as to a name for them so I'm open to suggestions. Right now I'm calling them Chrome Eyed Lords
>>95982555>Chrome Eyes>bad reputationSounds like splicer's technojacks in that regards. Do they have unique gear and vehicles?
>>95981915>>95978287Speaking of, how is fear factor handled in Nightbane? I consider it the source of Horror factor in palladium games so I want to know how and when it should be used.

Really time to drop the pride and start talking to publishers. The numbers are saying there are a lot of fans paying the 80 dollar or higher tiers to support this project so there is more than passing interest with fans.
Kev, Sean. I know you're reading this because there are only 3 places to post about Rifts on the internet. Sell your house, get a loan, stop rolling in crumpled up singles on a bed and pretending you're millionaires.
>>95987929I'm making them wholecloth so nothing much yet. I think it would be nice if they were to know phase tech, so they'd have stuff relating to that, weapons, armor, "ghost" ships etc. I want to maybe make a "Phase Knight" OCC that's a fighting man with phase powers. I want them to have a psi/phase blade that passes through any & all material barriers or phase powers to cut into MDC/SDC but will hit forcefields like normal. Like Shardblades from Way of Kings. Current tech based Phase Swords dont actually do that are kind of a mess.
But they're also natural spellcasters too so I'm not sure where to take that item/tech wise other than just having technowizards which is kinda lame. Maybe make knock off Diabolist Wards that are called "magic circuits" that do similar things but treated more technological than mystical. No sacrificing doves to make a "Circuit" of Force
Other than that, any technology that hides them or is defensive in nature is going to be their specialty. And that's just their tech/powers. Next I gotta figure out what their society is like. What kind of people are they that lost a war, & became misunderstood boogeymen? The "Chrome Eyed Demons" that snatch up kids that misbehave or don't each , or whatever. They aren't quite able to have a full on war with any of the big powers anymore, but their also tired of hiding.
Do the have an Emperor? a King? a Republic or Democracy? Are they fractious? What do they think of the other races? Do they have dimensional tech? Etc.
A whole lot of stuff to consider because they're so advanced I can't just shelve it or treat them like a StarWars/StarTrek alien & paint them with a broad brush

>>96008269>>96008717>>96009834Alright I went back through and skim-read most of it, discovered Dinosaur Swamp and read it pretty quick, and now I'll be running Rifts next Sunday once I get a couple more players.
So I intend to restrict to RUE, Dinosaur Swamp, Atlantis just for True Atlanteans, Underseas for amphibs and whale-singers and Horune. Are there any other must-include sourcebooks I'd be a fool to miss? Maybe some Vampire Kingdoms influence if I need a big bad who aren't tentacle monsters, but no plan to use it at the moment.
Players'll be in a group in a reclamation town trying to help carve out civilization from the swamp. Helping barbarians, becoming the quarry of Splugorth Minion big game hunters, making nice with the dolphins and "oh shit all that's going on down there?", riding dinosaurs, and I think I'll have the Nuat'Yll be my preliminary badguy city. Maybe we'll go by Disneyworld.

>>96016392Juicer harness will actually limit yourself. But you can take a few striped down JA-12s & make a shoulder turret loaded with an advanced combat AI with a lot of extra actions. Then find a TW & a Light Mage (or learn the spell yourself) to give x10 damage to the turret. Same with a Wilk's laser sword. Try to convince your GM to let you make a laser battle Fury Blade first & THEN get that sweet x10 multiplier. Worried about Impervious to Energy? Just add another spell to make it Hard Light now those hundreds of MDC are physical bullets/blade. Make a few buff magic armbands of all the Attacks per Melee boosting spells like Magical Adrenaline Rush, Fleet Footed, Fighting Spirit, etc. way more powerful than a Juicer harness, as well as Superhuman Agility for the Autododge
You'll be granted a lot of extra attacks per melee then double it, & dodging won't cost you a thing. Oh & take the Tai Chi Chuin Martial Arts to multiply your PPE. Tai Chi Chuin is actually REALLY prolific (its that chinese yoga stuff old ladies do) so it shouldn't take much to convince your GM to take it.
I mean I totally don't contemplate how strong you can make a single character without breaking any rules, no sir!
>>96016392they call that the Tarnation Flex and I'm pretty sure it's necessary to pass the course to Juice (you can't read and you don't have to pass a course)
>>96011198if they can sense the anomaly then they could use reopen portal to get in.

>>96016712you could....gasp buy the book.
>>96017035>I mean I totally don't contemplate how strong you can make a single character without breaking any rules, no sir!You are likely never to fund a table willing to put up with a 1/4 of that but ok
>>96018965It's not so much ever trying it at a table as just musing that it's possiboe. Sometimes you find a permissive GM though. I had one that let me do whatever in a 3.5 game & it was honestly really really fun. And no, it wasn't a drag for everyone else, I was super powerful but I mostly just played back up to the other party members & the RP was great. The conflict in a game doesn't have to be from mortal peril, a lot of the time I found that I was thinking of the best way to solve an issue or puzzle it out rather than trying to fight all the time.
Boxing should be a HtH skill
>>96020793They should just call it extra attack and separate it from punching

>>96016712>https://litter.catbox.moe/9ufxgsvzvh26vbm2.pdfIt's a neat book but the Light Mage is underpowered.
>>96022583My fix for the Crystal Mage is to just smash the Laser Mage from Rifter with it
>>96022583Its ok for some casters to be lower powered, like the bio-mage from SA, or the blue flame mage from SA2, not everything is ultra powerful....the world needs hedge wizards
>>96022643>Its ok for some casters to be lower poweredThat's always been my biggest problem with Rifts. Trying to balance it feels like a pain in the ass. If I remember correctly, it doesn't end up being because of how many actions everyone gets and it just ends super-lethal instead. But I'm sitting here looking at it on paper and it really feels daunting to try to figure out what a "balanced" encounter means, especially before character creation.
>>96023577I always try to figure out an average damage range per turn that whatever group of enemies is likely to be doing. Guys with guns do a lot of damage generally.
>>96023577Its basicly tiered
Gutter level- city rat, vagabond, saddle tramp, fire and brim stone preacher, original cyber knights, mystic, elemental fusionist
Base level- most sdc/mortal occs, cs classes, modern headhunters, most casters, power armor pilots, uncreative techno wizards, llw, juicers common
Upper-mdc races with high end combat and caster types, dimie gods, glitterboy, necromancer, star elves, well made combat cyborgs, neo-humans, juicers mdc types, tattoo men
Galactic/godly- godlings (can be 2 caster types), asgardian rsces, shifters played to the hilt, temporal raiders, cosmo knights, dragons over 5 years old, undead slayers, sea titans, the hundred handed, all thecultra tough mdc RCC's
As a gm you basicly just gotta look at thier sheet and class and say ok most of you are reasonably close in power, plan the encounter accordingly.
If a players character is to tough tell em, also if everyone is a god tier killing machine and the hobo wants to play, either give them a magic ring or a super power or tell them no.
Gods dont hang out with city rats as they plot a hades raid. Gm's just have to sadly say no or give some power bump ups
Look at these absolute units
A lot of people, at least in my experience, seem to forget that Techno Wizards are actual casters, since the majority only see them as crafting magic not casting it. What are some clever uses of spells cast through ingenious technological means? Like "overclocking" the cyborgs internal workings to grant buff magic
>>96029138>Look at these absolute units>they are actually pretty strong>they even make a point to say that this is the average wolfen soldierOkay, I get it! Kev is a dog person!
>>96023577Its easy to fall in that trap. Im finding out quickly the best battle spell is carpet of adhesion over any damage spell. Its hard to quantify utility as combat potential because sometimes its not putting out a number for you to measure.
Then you have crafting OCCs like operators and technowizards where the party starts sweating after the third fight in as many hours and they are running low on magic and armor.
I suppose it falls into the old healer paradigm.
>>96030004What makes Carpet of Adhesion so good in you opinion?
>>96034938Not that anon but, since it removes melee attacks and everything in combat requires you to spend melee attacks, the most detrimental thing you can do is take away someone else's melee attacks. Just a guess.
>>96035168But there's more than one way to do that. I didn't know if there was anything about Carpet of Adhesion that was more worth it than other similar options
>>96035850>>96035168>>96034938Because the intricacies and vagueness of it. The spell isn't defeated by any amount of strength but beating a vs magic roll. And it keeps you in there for 5 or so rounds and if you do resist it you are held for 2d6 rounds.
Look at the typical expected use of the spell: Cast on ground and enemies walk on it and get stuck. This means that they cant get stuck but it also means that they cant turn around, if they are pushed over or trip or try to dive and touch the ground they are pinned and effectively frozen fast in place. If they have a loose shoulder strap or barrel of a rifle graze the ground that weapon is going to become near impossible to fire effectively and they are stuck like that for several rounds. He'll, the community is still debating if autododge can work while stuck on the carpet because you can duck easily once but of your hand or knee is touches the ground then you cant move at all now.
I'll give numbers to explain this. If you stick someone for two minutes and can shoot them unopposed for four actions a round with a peewee pistol that does 2d6 that will work out to an average of 112 MD they have no choice but to suck up.
>>96036903To get into more intricate scenarios keep in mind that to get stuck on the carpet of adhesion it just says you need to touch it. Any physical contact works, not just a firm press. If you say, to be very specific, are fighting two winged demons that they are so large you can only cast on one limb you can cast it on one of their wings you know will contact the demon standing next to him. At worst the demon wing sticks to itself when retracted and he cannot fly but at best it gets stuck to another demon and are stuck together as they try to pry themselves free and thus are out of the fight. You can cast it on weapons to keep them stuck in holsters or grenades they cant pull pins out of or throw away, you can cast them on the hands of a really big ally who can punch an enemy and then use him like a club or shield without even having to grapple them, and so on. A key point here is that the spell also works on inanimate objects on robots who typically don't have any saves against magic.
There is also utility here like using it to grip on to vehicles like trains or the underside of cars. You can cast it on smooth doors to allow a super strong team mate grip to force the door open. Its a very useful spell!
>>96036903>>96036990Oh that's cool. So a quick one two of a Carpet & something like a wind spell would solve a lot of combats. BRB I, gonna go make my DM mad
>>96036903>>96036990Yeah, CoA is ass and needs to be nerfed, or at least detailed more in how it interacts with enemies in combat. Otherwise it fucks every opponent fast for little cost.
>>96037062Enjoy facing the same combo instantly your 2nd round in.
If you are a pso slinger go astral and zoom at 200mph in astral, zap an mdc bolt into an enemies sdc head....its so deadly its gonna happen right back to you
I wonder what Unca Kevin has in store for their vidya discussion tomorrow. The fan-friends are no where near funding the game, so I guess this will be a cancelation/guilt-trip stream.
>>96041754I want the cs flag, but no physical copy of the game is a no go for me
>>96041752I don't think you can attack characters in the material realm when you're an astral projection. I don't know psi singers though.

>>96041754The backerkit posters are saying that they were doing a bad job at keeping them up to date. I suppose that is fair to say as Kevin and Sean were doing a lot of interviews and streams but I don't think they were actually letting the backerpage know about that.
I think it was easy to assume all their backers were following the youtubers that talk about palladium but then again we are talking about an issue that would have been solved with a two second post about it on the page telling them when these streams were. Not to say that would have helped the situation at all.
Alright I got my game mostly ready with maps and a first adventure and a primer. I haven't played in 20 years, though. So if any kindly anon is feeling autistic enough to take a look at my primer and offer feedback in case I missed something, or screwed something up, I'd appreciate it. It's 8 pages w/ 1 page of introduction and the rest is my attempt to condence the rules since none of my players have played Rifts before.

Are you going to pre-make characters? What part of the world is the setting?
I know there is an ability of some sort that can allow a character to essentially go into stasis on a leyline & sort of just disappear into it. Can anyone point me toward where is ability is?
>>96052311Im guessing leyline phasing is what you want
>>96052467I found it. It's a psyscape thing
>>96052576I haven't read that in years, I should
>>96052168>good luckThanks!

>Are you going to pre-make characters? Nah there are 57 OCCs and RCCs listed in the document for players. Everything RUE, Priests, couple RCCs and Walocks outa COnversion Book 1, the OCCs from Dinosaur Swamp, true Atlanteans, and a some OCCs and RCCs from Underseas.
>What part of the world is the setting?Dinosaur swamp focusing greatly on the swamp parts of it.
>>96049062That's a great write up! I am so jaded by GM'ing that I barely even make notes anymore. Any maps I make get thwarted by players who decide they are three year olds who just learned the word 'no.'
Riftsbros, I got confused. When casting a spell on someone you can cast it when they are in not EBA armor and EBA armor but not power armor and robotic vehicles, right? And you cant cast it on someone in a vehicle if the windows are up but you can if you the windows are closed? I really don't know if you can cast on someone who is in a building and you see them through a window.
>>96060343Thanks man. We'll see how far my map gets us. I have a hunch they're going to b-line for disneyworld whether I mention it or not. The adventure starts with fighting some Horune pirates and rescuing the blind wise woman of the village, who turns out to be Altaran (shocking, right?) who a Sunaj is in love with. She clones herself near death and the players are stuck protecting a blind warrior woman clone who a mysterious Atlantean murderer is pursuing but also trying to keep his allies from finding out why he's pursuing, who he doesn't know is a clone 'cuz the one he loved is deadskies. I thought it'd be fun to do some "hunted by the powers of Atlantis," but needed a reason for them to always stop short of just nuking the players to oblivion.
>>96060692You can cast on them in eba and power amor but not robots
Window you can cast on them unless it is a fireball or projectile spell where it has to fly to them.
>>96060727Make sure you save the truth that sunji are Atlanteans for very late in game if ever to be discovered
>>96060820That's the plan. I'm letting them pick from only 6 books, one of which is Atlantis just for True Atlanteans. I have a feeling it's too juicy for no one to go with. They know nothing about Rifts and no one will bother reading that deep, so it should work out, hopefully with 1 Atlantean character.
>>96060863You allowing the Atlantean expansion book? Its kinda nerd out of the clans which is unnecessary for noobs I suppose
>>96060913To be honest I haven't read it, yet. But prolly no, just because I'm trying not to immediately overwhelm them (hence the handout). "Hey this game is 35 years old and has 80 rulebooks" is not an easy sell.
>>96060936Yeah limiting books is the right move
>>96060808>power amorIsn't glitter boy armor technically power armor?
>>96061994Yes. Its full name is Glitter Boy Power Armor.
>>96060808My understanding is that you cast the spell and it goes to the thing. If there's power armor, a robot, a vehicle, or even a window between you and the target, the spell hits the thing.
>>96061994Its classec as such but its nearly a robot. Gm discretion if cloud of slumber effects it or not
>>96063100Id say its spell dependent, you can cast sleep on a guy a truck with the windows up, just as a guy in full eba
>>96063100 for projectile based spells I would agree, I think we all would. The spells like sleep or dominate are more open. I think casting on people in power armor is just for balance as there are so many power armors out there compared to EBA.
How well do NB characters do in Rifts?
>>96075900Fine, basicly just a powerful dbee
>>96060727Cool map, anon. What did you make it in? Got any more? This is somewhere in Florida, right?
>>96088148Thanks, anon. It's just Inkarnate. Yeah it's a traced and rescaled map of Jacksonville, Florida, from the sea-level-rise mapper online. I don't have any more Rifts maps, yet. I haven't played Rifts in decades and we aren't going to start until Sunday after next.
Would Altarans make for good undercover assassins or is the blindness thing too much of a dead giveaway? It could probably be altered through bio-wizardry, couldn't it?
Some wild shit in Atlantis.
>>96070811I think that's reasonable. It flies in the face of the rules as technically written. But the rules of Rifts are written so poorly and full of so much defensive blah-blah garbage defending his game design "philosophy" that I think GM fiat is appropriate.
>>96088709It'd be nice if we ever got a "CORE RULES" book but to encompass all the settings and subrules in so many hundreds of books it would probably have to 5,000 pages long.
>>96089511Nice album cover
>>96089511Rifts:Straight from Pittsberg
>>96088214Yes, for one thing they operate as if they are not blind. So seeing a 6ft blind woman strut and step over gaps or read signs or hold the door for people she sees coming would be an issue. Another issue is that all warrior women are exact clones of eachother so you only need one poster to ID all warrior women spies.
So you'd need a disguise. At least some sunglasses and a wig. Honestly there are enough other dbees that are tall thing amazonian women that they could blend in better than you'd expect.
Obviously the further you get from Atlantis' reputation the easier it is. Like you could probably sneak them into Chi-Town but not into a building run by high ranking CS officials but you wouldn't get them into Lazlo at least as a spy.
>>96091713I see them as carmen sandiago if on a spy mission. Likely looks good in a big jacket and hat. And a wig i suppose
anyone tried the palladium robotech game? I have the book itself but haven't read it and want to know if its worth the effort convincing my group to learn it.
>>96016536Fun fact I overlooked the first time I read the dinosaur swamp books. some of the tribes named in the books are spoofs about local sports teams mascots. The Dog Runners(NC States wolf), The Devils Tribe(Dukes Blue Devil) and the Rams(Tarheels Ram)
>>96093556If your into the animie its good, other wise ehhh
Deffintly perfer rifts, but its nice to have a designated enemy that is clear cut
>>96093556I heard good things from fans but it's a much higher damage to MDC pool ratio.
>>96029138Hey, so I tried like a year or so ago to run a game or dabble with Palladium Fantasy 2e, and ran into the problem of generating monsters and I was coming over from stuff like D&D 5e, little bit of AD&D 2e and Savage Worlds mainly as my sources of experience. In the big book I have, there was NOTHING like this, nor in any of the PDFs I was able to source. They were all basically races without R.C.Cs or O.C.Cs. I made some stuff but everything I made was either way too buff or like way underwhelming. That, I'll take it on the chin as user error, but I was hoping to find something that's just like what you've posted! So I want to know WHERE, what source is this from and if there are other books like it? I loved how classes were described in the liberty you had in PalFan2e but as a mediocre at best GM, it's all a little daunting with THAT much prep work required to run a simple goblin.
Looks like the backer kit will break 160k if it's lucky. Best Kev not think about this is the culmination of 30 years of work.
>>96102394Sadly, yes, Promise of Power Reforged will not get made if it can't even muster enough interest to break $200K. I did my part, signed up for the full package and advertised it where I could, but it looks doomed. Oh well, we still have emulators and the old ROM.
>>96106604He's dead, Jim."
>>96106604>Oh well, we still have emulators and the old ROM.That is the rub, it's a gigantic pain in the ass to get it to run on the Nokia emulator.
>>96095807Times like this you need to be what a seasoned GM does: be lazy. Just make up numbers that sound about right and not fuss over the details. Goblins? 15 sdc and 10 hp, probably. +2 to hit with their dinkly rat ass swords.
What is their wilderness skill? What is their track humans? No one gives a flying fuck and neither should you.
>>96095807This mob is from picrel, most of the books have quick stat enemies.
For combat mooks all you need is
Saves +1 to +3
Hp, sdc, pick an armor(ac+sdc)
Pick a weapon
Strike, parry, dodge +1 to whatever you want( got a player with a retarded pp? Occasionally make someone slightly better, usally a little worse)
Any racial ablities
Spell slinger? Cast, ppe should only matter for very extended combat
Thats all you need, remember your players are going to loot literal everything so dont attack with anything you dont want them to have
>>96111427Usally quick stats for monsters look like this .
>>96113989I mean, that's good considering.
As an aside, you don't see anyone include worms of taut in Rifts. You'd think a worm slug from hell the size of a 10 car train would be something that GMs would like to throw at players.
>>96111427This is wisdom for Palladium GMs.
>>96128266This is universal GM knowledge, learning to inprovise is a requirement to be a GM instead of just making silly voices for characters.
>>96106604Knowing Palladium even with 700k they were going to fuck it up and it would release two weeks after Wave Two of Robotech Tactics comes out.
>>96119119I mean its in conversion book 1, so like the 4th book made.
Its also in the hell/hades books
Quick question, I know that a person can give his PPE to a magic user but what about ISP? I thought it was there was a 2 ISP to 1 PPE exchange rate when that happens but I don't know where I heard that.
>>96119119They make for a greater magic tattoo apparently
>>96131499>learning to inprovise is a requirement to be a GM instead of just making silly voices for characters.I think a GM is probably better knowing how to do both. Also if this is a jab at the craze of shallow podcasting RPGers I acknowledge and agree with your hatred.

If you are getting something that looks like a giant turd with an opening at one end it better be worth it.
Alright, here is another question. My GM is saying Ley Line Walkers can only learn spells from the invocations list. I think this is bullshit and cite several parts that are saying the ley line walker can learn any spell. He says since it was printed originally in a Rifter it doesn't count.
He is saying its for game balancing instead of citing an actual source.
>>96135361So to convert isp to ppe you need the psi ablity to do it. And oddly a mind block stops it.
It specifically says you cant turn ppe into isp, ive never seen the ability to share isp ala ppe like ritual magic.
Im going with no you cant share isp.
>>96136371Also a great necromancer spell, great for a big mdc tank or to dig to out of somewhere
>>96142988They cant learn necromancer, temporal, blue flame...ect. your gm is right
>>96143387Necromancy is actually learnable it just takes double PPE because of the natural apprehension all mages but necromancers have using that kind of magic.
Eternal flame is just that the Russian mages don't want to share.
My problem was wanting to learn Dig which was a level 1 earth warlock spell.
>>96144284Well unless an Earth Warlock teaches you Dig, no, you can't "just get it". Your GM is right. Don't be a munchkin. Schools of magic exist for a reason: to keep their spells secret and specialized as the in-game reason, and to keep OCCs balanced as the out-of-game reason.
>>96144284Warlock spells require you to be a warlock because your elemental grants you the ablity to use them
Your basicly a priest of fire/water/air/earth.
Warlocks spells are locked down harder than any other spell category
>Eternal flame is just that the Russian mages don't want to share.I was talking about blue flame, its the small tribal casters from the mountains in south American....they are cool
>>96145917>Schools of magic exist for a reason: to keep their spells secret and specialized as the in-game reason, and to keep OCCs balanced as the out-of-game reason.Actually he disagrees with you. He thinks that spells just happen to mages and they can only learn from the original schools they come from. He just completely blanks on the idea of a leyline walker going and learning spells from different schools of magic. That's what I'm talking about, my Leyline Walker going to the magic store and buying the opportunity to be taught these spells. He is just flat out saying no unless it's in the invocations category as in only what's in pages 91 to 153 of the rifts book of magic. I just want to make a goddamn hole to hide some loot and our party doesn't have any good diggers.
>>96148239Act-shoe-lee
>These rare South American spells can be learned by any practitioner of magic, BUT the individual must first be aware that Blue Flame magic even exists and they must learn the spells from the Larhold of South America, or a mage who has learned the magic themselves from the Larhold. The Blue Flame is an Elemental force that has no apparent alignment or intrinsic intelligence. You are right about the warlock spells though as it says that the ones that can be learned are included in the list of invocations at higher levels than on the elemental warlock spell lists.
>>96148239It's mentioned in Palladium Fantasy that wizards can learn warlock spells, but they generally have to reverse engineer them and warlocks get mad at any wizard who does.
All spells can be learned by a Wizard/LLW/LLR/Magic Study. It just takes double PPE unless otherwise stated & it's gonna take a big excuse as to how you learned it.
>>96149027Yeah then you are using the make your own spell rules from mysteries of magic
>>96149677>All spells can be learned by a Wizard/LLW/LLR/Magic Study. It just takes double PPE unless otherwise stated & it's gonna take a big excuse as to how you learned it.That seems excessive although when you are getting 200PPE it's not much of a factor. Keep in mind that for the Leyline Walker they are supposed to have the quest to learn as much magic spells as possible if only for an academic interest. Any leyline walker already should have the reason to learn a spell because they want to know it because they currently don't know it.
I think there are D&D brained people out there who think that it must be balanced, not knowing that spells by and large are not-offensive with niche uses, and that acquiring spells is usually done as rewards and exchanges through a story: ie, cloud magic is unattainable to non-native american shamans or golden hawk people for no other reason than that they see cloud magic as a cultural aspect. If you did something heroic to save a tribe of Natives than being taught a cloud magic spell would now be a suitable reward.
This might not be the correct thread but here goes anyway:
I really like the aesthetics and designs of RIFTS but I have a burning hate for the old-school style palladium crunchy system.
