Big guys are a noob trap. Goblins are meant to be a shit team anyways.

I don't expect to win a heap, but I don't wanna give games away, either, as far as being a shit team goes.
I figured the high strength guys would be required, alongside the chainsaw and ball and chain.

Extremely. Goblins by default are bad but 1 less troll? Suicide. Unless you induce Ripper Bolgrot as a substitute, otherwise it's just asking for frustration and pain.

You are playing the worst team in the game
Not playing into their incredibly minor strengths
Presumably a new player and thus playing badly

You will get 100% wrecked every game. If you place any importance at all on winning, please do not do this to yourself.
Goblins are a team for veterans to show off with and tell funny stories. They are not intended to be a serious option.

You need all the special guys but ideally not all at once. Lots of bribes and 2 trolls as a roadblock. As others said Gobbos are a vet team to dab on newfags or play for memes.

I've played them a little years ago, but the league died. Since then my only experience is with the vidya.

I'd rather have fun than win, though. I run the risk of getting too competitive and actually annoyed with a real team, so fucking around is more my style.
I just don't want to be a free win for those that gets to play me, is all.

>>95942145
We're starting at a mil.
Was looking to go:
Looney
Fanatic
Pogoer
'Ooligan
7 linesmen
Then 2 trolls leave me 3 rerolls and 60k for a bribe. But means I only have the one bribe, and not a lot of linesman depth (and I need to find an STL I like for a second one).

Sorry anon but that's exactly what you will be. Goblins are not a real team. They are designed to be bad. They are the ironman mode, legendary difficulty or the 'no weapons no armour' run.

I thought they were halflings that cheat, to be not quite as awful.

Makes sense if you give it a few seconds of thought. Goblins aren't the absolute worst ball handlers, cause you could be trying to get down the pitch with a Troll, but they're at a huge disadvantage by how fragile they are. They can't throw worth a damn. They can't catch worth a damn. They can't punch worth a damn. They can dodge, but Stunty means that an unlucky hit can absolutely wreck their shit. Trolls are strong, but some of the worst Big Guys you could use due to Really Stupid. The two "advantages" they have are their Secret Weapons and their halved bribe costs, and the Secret Weapons have a tendency to blow up in their faces or get sent off the Pitch early. The Goblins are intended to basically cause as much mayhem as possible, knocking people over with the Secret Weapons and Trolls so the Gobbos can Foul on the prone guys with impunity due to the numerous bribes, and THEN maybe score if there are enough Linemen or a Pogoer left that you can scrape off the pavement afterwards.

It's ironic that from what I understand, the Halflings are also the cheaty team, but in a different way from the Gobbos, since their main advantages are being cheap enough to allow them to buy strong inducements like Master Chef, Tree Men and Star Players to compensate for halflings being so shit, basically letting their Treemen clobber the front line and anyone stupid enough within arms reach so the Halfling linemen can Foul on the prone enemy team with near-impunity while the Star Players do the actual scoring. At least, that's my understanding of it.

Yeah that's pretty accurate.
Treemen are better than Trolls, Master Chef is better than cheap bribes and you have access to Griff.

I have 5 teams but haven't played. Getting into a beginner league this fall. Should I focus on Lizardmen (with a krox), khorne, norse, or one of the 2 starter boxes teams? My gut is telling me lizardmen as they are my current favorite but the norse are sweet too

Blood Bowl? More like Pass Bowl. Why are the hit-smashy orcs, chaos, Norse, Khorne, etc so low on the WR?

Is this a per match WR or actual league standings?

NAF-registered tabletop games.

> First things first, because itโ€™s always a pleasure to report it; the number of Blood Bowl games to play remains on the increase. 2024 saw over 55,000 Nuffle Amorical Football (NAF) games played, a new record, and 2025 is already off to a flyer, with nearly 25,000 games played in not even five months. The NAF Championships in Nottingham this year broke the record for largest single-player tournament ever, so at this rate, and with a huge Eurobowl tournament coming at the end of the year, it seems likely that the yearly games record will be broken again. Just as importantly, unique coach numbers are also increasing, so itโ€™s not just the same people playing more Blood Bowl!

Secondly, as always, the data below includes only Tabletop tournaments played under NAF approval using the BB20 (current tabletop) ruleset. There are no online tournaments, BB3 games, Dungeonbowl games, or other types of game included.

Thirdly, this data includes tournament rule packs of all sizes, shapes, and varieties. No data is captured by the NAF to let us know if a given tournament allowed various Stars, or particular tierings or rules of any kind.

IMO star player use for bloodbowl metagaming makes the game gay and shit. Carrying a team from 1000tv upwards is way more fun to play. Especially around 2000tv and upwards as players become unique and people start takign skills beyond the typical blodge etc.

In previous editions they were always pretty mediocre but 2020 supercharged them with multiple massive buffs simultaneously. Off the top of my head they gained overnight;
> access to Skaven positional
> access to Skaven star players
> access to Snotlings INCLUDING SWARMING WHAT THE FUCK
> half price bribes

Hence the absolute domination of the tables for years until they rolled back Swarming. Now they are not top dog, surprise surprise nobody wants to play them because they were never a popular theme, they were just overpowered.

Because they're smashy teams, they're not good at ball handling. Win % is purely getting more touchdowns, its not accounting for how battered or broken the other team is at the end of the game.

I think the point I want to make is if smashy teams can still win leagues consistently even if they lose individual games more on average. Do we have league victories/rankings data?

Yes, but itโ€™s not as easy. The ideal bashy team is still going to be low scoring in general, so they are still nowhere as easy to play as a team that actually focuses on getting the ball to the end zone.
