the game starts where you move to the hive city of san fransisco, where your salary as a servitor at a chain coffee shop is $40,000 USD, which is a couple dollars more per hour than california's current minimum wage of $16.50 so you're already doing great!

you then pay a quarter of it in taxes and another third of it every year to rent your 1 bedroom studio apartment. you must face off against nurgle and slaaneshi cultists who have overrun the city, but you have to be careful though, or you might lose everything to tzeench's schemes...

I'd rather go with a hard reboot.
Throw out all of this shit we have and go back to 3rd-4th ED era.
Only in this case the Squats (not Votann) and Chaos Squats are playable, have aesthetic elements from Warhammer Fantasy Dwarfs/Chaos Dwarfs and an updated roster (including their own unique and versatile tank they can mod to hell and back). And each League gets their own extra unique units.

No it's not. It's horribly bland and with retarded lore. There is nothing at high stakes in this setting and it oscilates towards heavily high fantasy instead of it being a mix of multiple fantasy genres.

The difference between 40k and Fantasy is that Fantasy was a sales failure, it needed AoS to actually become profitable.
40k is extremely profitable so no need to reboot it

People forget how well crafted and sociologically accurate of a setting 40k is. Everything seems stupid and unfunctionable at a first glance but that's the whole point, it's flawed by design. A good example is how no one gives a fuck about the Jopallian aristocracy taxing their citizens on everything because they become resourceful soldiers or no attempt to make life better in imperial mining worlds because they make for good stock. The adminstratum clerks are actual century old geniuses

Make them techromancers. Fodder/zombies are services. Elites/wights are skitarii. Techpriests with combat fits as vampires. Robots fill in the fancy shit/monster niche.

Tbf, that wasn't always the case. The whole gimmick of skitarii was they were supposed to be closer to sisters but better long ranged damage but also a worse armor save. Like, the galvanic rifle was closer to what a current custodes Bolter profile is but had a 30" range. GW just decided to power creep the game while not only excluding skitarii from that, but by also slapping them with nerfs as well. A 20 man blob of guardsman was never a threat to a knight but a 20 man blob of skitarii always was until 10th editon.
And against, this isn't a raw datasheet problem, this is gw either intentionally or not, deciding skitarii are just guardsman with an invul. save in 10th edition. This is what actually needs to change.
