>Thread Question:How seriously do you take your dudes?
Why is picrel a thing on Age of Marines ?
Have you ever seen even an army of them on the tabletop ?
>>95942704 (OP)>How seriously do you take your dudes?Depends what you mean. I don't take the rolling of dice seriously, and my fluff is they're the legion reject team.
But I try and win when I play, without going WAAC or wankery.
I have a feeling we are gonna get rug pulled hard with the libers. There hasnโt been a single peep about them. Either way my guts telling me itโs really gonna piss people off. Wargear options removed, etc.
>>95942813It's just a domitar
>>95942813>important, handsome magos ordering around legion peons
>>95942741They shouldn't have been their own army. A unit of custodians should've been an elites or even HQ choice for other loyalist armies.
>>95942813I like this pic. This is a nice fuckin' pic
>None of the choices are mandatory, and you can add as many of these detachments to your force as you want โ as long as you donโt spend more than 50% of your points on allied units over all.
-ACK
This kills the allyspammmers
>>95942769I am starting to get dread given we haven't had any hints at all.
But it could also be that the legions that needed taken down a peg are going to be the whingiest commentators
>>95942813The domitar has henchman energy
>>95942867>>95942874Domitars are absolutely goons, thugs, and brutes of the highest nature, and the fact that this is the peak of Automata development makes them even funnier
I have a cool idea for a night lords scheme but I'm noot bad a painter to pull it off.
>>95942843the same thing could easily be said of astartes, are we really talking much difference between an army of 20 and an army of 50?
>>95942813>>95942867>Machine, grav their asses!
I'm wondering if the 50% cap on allies includes LoW or not. Big difference between 50% Primary and the rest being allocated between LoW and Allies and 25% Primary with 75% to spend on LoW and Allies.
>>95942769knowing GW, I've always been waiting for their bean counters to split the books for maximum profit.
They might just do it like Index Astartes where it was 4 books for space marines, volume I was the first four legions (1,3,4,5), then next book had (6,7,8,9), next one (10,12,13,14,15), and the final book had (16,17,18,19,20). Then they could do a 5th book for imperial allies and a 6th book for chaos allies.
GW would especially love it because people who own 3 loyalist or 3 chaos forces might be forced into buying 3 books instead of 1. (Dark Angels + Space Wolves + Ultramarines for example would be book 1+2+3 instead of Liber Imperialis)
>>95942925They have alteady shown how the armies are bring divided up
>>95942925schizo meltdown
Before anyone asks: those in the pic are all resin Mechanicum models painted for the Liber. Vultarax, Thallax, Domitar, Scyllax (I wonder when they were available in the store tha last time - two years?) and even an old pre-zombie Thrall.
>>95942936>a schizo meltdown today equates to the release schedule of 1.0really makes you think
>>95942937The announcement livestream
>>95942769That is effectively what happened with 4th edition AoS, people were generally "this seems fine" then when the army indexes and full list building rules dropped the shoe finally dropped.
>>95941927>"Hi, I'm brother Knoxvilla and welcome to Legio Jackassicus."

>50% cap for allies
That has drastically altered my plans then holy fuck. Then again I guess Iโve never properly thought about how Iโm supposed to balance 3000pts between but
>solar aux
>iron hands
>salamanders
>raven guard
500pts for 3/4 of those. What do I get with this pocket lint equivalent amount of point allocation bros
>>95943033>500You mean 1500?
Saturnine? More like FATTURDnine!
>>95943022>your-questions>nobody asked "Why?"
>>959430361500 for one of them which will be the primary yes, but allies are only allowed to make up 50% of the point total. I planned on having 3 other factions/armies, so 1500 รท 3 = 500 each.
>>95943022> The Horus Heresy: Age of Darkness game system has been going since 2012, while the first full rulebook was released in 2017.Are they stoned? The "first full rulebook" was a copy from 40k 6th edition from 2012 which they had to print due to 40k 8th edition.
>>95942843They literally deploy as an army on Prospero, and during the War in the Webway and the Siege of Terra. By your logic the shattered legions shouldn't be playable because they're too small after Isstvan V.
>>95943044Pre-order two weeks in advance you reckon? Or even longer because it's a edition release?
I hope v3 allow allies to board transports
>>95943022> This is very much the same Horus Heresy game you know and lovewhere plasma?
>>95943061oh wow, that's a schizoid setup. Well, we don't know the points yet, but I imagine thematically the most appropriate would be 1500 for the solar aux and then small strike forces for each of the legions. So like, IH tanks, Sally meltas/flamers, and a RG deep strike force.
Or you could play like a normal person
>>95943067It wasn't. It was the 7th edition rules with quite some minor changes, like the psychic power Invisibility being replaced with something more reasonable.
>>95943022> Can I still use my current army?> > You totally canis that a promise they would sign with their blood?
>>95943044I love the leaker(s) so much. Always one step ahead.
What is this? Lascannons?
>>95943022> There is also the first in a new series of narrative campaign books. These Age of Darkness Journals will feature historic details and new rules to recreate the most iconic engagements in the Age of Darkness in your games. The first focuses on the dropsite massacre at Isstvan V.wait wait - so they re-sell us the old black books?
>>95943098Laser Destroyer
>>95943069We already know it's July 12th for preorders, that pic just confirms it.
>>95943069It releases on July 26th and it's a 2 week preorder minimum.
>>95943098Laser bazongler
>>95943102If only...
But no, it actually are wholly new campaign books.
>>95943098phased plasma fusils
>>95943098>change the fuel drum design because of reasonsAt this point 30k Imperium is far more divided in design than 40k Imperium. At least in 40k various Imperial factions can use the same vehicles, but in 30k even things like Rapiers have to be distinctly different for different factions.
>>95943142>At this point 30k Imperium is far more divided in design than 40k ImperiumThis has been the case since HH1.0.
>>95943142I mean it makes sense. All the manufactoriums are freshly conquered, probably still using the blueprints they've always had. By 40k Admech has had time to standardize everything and lock up all the cool shit
>>95943164And it's accelerating. Even Marine and non-Marine Tarantulas have to be different, just because.
>>95943142I mean it kinda makes sense. There were a lot more places with factories, more shit was still being mass-produced, there was even some technological advancement. Though it is a bit weird that the different patterns of vehicles and such don't show up in all the factions.
>>95943174>he wants his Astartes to use smelly, dirty, MORTAL nigger TarantulasMay the Warmaster smite ye
>>95943187Not enough bri'ish accent to be a SoH
>>95943174I mean, nobody is stopping you from buying the SA tarantula sentry guns and using them with your marines and the other way around.
>>95943187They use Malcadors, which are inferior to the Leman Russes. Also, the open-topped Basilisk design over the better armoured SA Basilisks. Not to forget that for all the orbital transports and boarding crafts (that we know humans used) in the game, the elite void combat troopers only use a small civilian shuttle with a door gun.
>>95943198>nobody is stopping youYou clearly don't remember the shit people got for using Guard Basilisks instead of the proper Legion Basilisk like God's Workshop intended.
Im starting to think nu heresy isnt for wargaymers who never played a table top game before
>>95943205thats only the retard legions who can't into shock assault and think they are supposed to operate like the army, see IW or DG. Guilliman was right to get rid of that shit in the codex.
>>95943235>Caring about what people say onlineI mean there's even people who say you can't use Mk VI for your marines because they think it's not period accurate. If you start listening to those kinds of autists there is nothing that you can do ever.
The Emperor rejected divinity. He refused to turn into the Dark King. So...who is this King rising from Darkness that Erebus mentions here?
>โNone can contest the will of the gods, Barthusa. Not you, not even Him. A king will rise from darkness and all will be as it should be. As it was ordained. It has been spoken by their emissaries. I am merely their conduit.โ
>>95943259That's just Erebus coping. You always see it with religious types when they are proven wrong.Though it probably hints at Abbadon taking over as Chaos' supreme leader.
>>95942741>Have you ever seen even an army of them on the tabletop ?I own an army of them on the tabletop and they make marinefags see the every time they hit the board
>>95943259Have you considered that some or all of these involved might be lying?
>>95943282Yeah, but the Dark King already exists in the Warp. It is just waiting to be born, which is inevitable, just like Slaanesh's birth.

>>95943292Everybody involved with Chaos likes to use the word inevitable a lot. Doesn't mean it's always true.
>>95943256That's a stupid reason. The real reason you can't use MkVI marines is because I said so.
>>95942741Wonder if they'll ever do anything like Thunder Hammers for Custards. Suppose the Solarite power fists are cool and all, though.
>>95943316>Everybody involved with Chaos likes to use the word inevitable a lotPretty ironic from the people that supposedly worship uncertainty
>>95943298I should make an Erebus version of this
>>95943270>Lorgar miserably fails to kill guilliman or reduce the UM to a non fighting force then copes by saying seeing guilliman mad was his end goal from the start>Erebus miserably fails to birth the dark king then copes by saying it's totally going to happenLike father like son
>>95942813This is the future of legion specific units, isn't it...
>>95943331>worship uncertaintyChaos followers don't worship the concept of Chaos as a random force. They worship the certainties of the Chaos Gods' essence and being.
Absolute violence
Strife and change
Decay and entropy
EXCESS.
And finally, the breakdown of all order and the rebirth of something new and glorious.
>>95943347Both of those are Erebus's fault. The point of Calth was to flush the legion of retards, Erebus and Kor Pharrell included
>>95943354No one is worships tzeench even tangentially should be talking about inevitability
That's a sure way to get fucked
>>95943364Change is inevitable, annit?
Which space marine scale do you prefer, old manlet, nu-scale or primaris tortuga scale? Or do you just print?
>>95942813Newfag detected
>>95943384Whatever scale is consistent with the cool models I want to include
>>95943393So you mix scale?
>>95943384Why are people so obsessed with their marines having to be the exact same size, when there is much larger height variety in reality?
>AutismOh wait never mind, forget I asked.
>>95943400Anon what does the word consistent mean
>>95943384Old scale manlet squat
>>95943410I'm ESL
>>95943411I respect that OG style
>>95943408Overall consistency is nice, just look how odd the AoD praetors look scalewise, they are primaris sized and look even worse with the big cloaks.
>>95943384I'm autistic so I only use Real(TM) GW minis and FW (may not be real), but I really dislike the proportions of tortuga bodies as way too fat.
>>95943384stormcast scale
>>95943384I just buy cool minis as they come out. I have a fair amount of plastic MKIV, resin and plastic MKVI, some old plastic MKIII. I have some old finecast characters from I want to say 4th edition they came out originally? I can't care about scale when rhinos and transports are still under scaled to this day. I like that 30k is more of a historical, becuase my army has a physical model collection history to it too.
>>95943384height doesn't matter. The main thing bad about the oldmarines is the ork-taking-a-poop squat pose they stand in.
Marines should always be either standing straight or running or full crouching to shoot from a knee.
The poop-stance is just a shitty in-between frame between actual stances.
>>95943275Not him but how come ?
I come from 40k and in 40k they're nothing to write about desu
Honestly desu considering adding like 6 of the new drop pods to my word bearers considering only 3d prints really have it beat price wise once you figure in FLGS discount and convenience. I can just glue in a combi bolter to the top.
>>95943408Because we don't want marines described as towering giants to look like midgets.
>>95943587>sizequeen has entered the thread
>>95943587You do understand the concept of miniatures, anon?
>>95943384I think the current is fine, I definitely didn't like that the older scale wasn't bigger than humans though, it kinda looks shit on the table for both factions if you don't have that difference.
>>95943648Do you understand the concept of a linear scale anon ? Every single miniatures and tank in this game are 1:60
SM are for some reason between 1:68 and 1:75.
>>95943674>Thinks GW has any scale consistency
>>95943347>Lorgar miserably fails to kill guillimanthat was never his plan, Calth was for Zealots mad about the past.
>>95943347>Erebus miserably fails to birth the dark kingErebus is The Janny for Chaos. His actions are wholly selfless and are taken only to further the cause. Like all men his judgement can be flawed at times, such as thinking Sang could be turned.
>>95943587Miniatures are supposed to be miniature.
>>95943384I like Tortuga, their proportions look good and they have more dynamic poses. Despoilers made out of new plastics look kinda boring
>>95943259As I recall, doesn't TEATD kinda hint that the emperor might be the dark king, or horus might be the dark king, and the stinger is the dark king will come, but it will be niether of them, leaving the door open for Abaddon doing it in 40k or even someone else? Prophecy arrives, but not to the schedule of mortals and such.
>>95943352Unfortunately, yes.
At least the Templar Bretheren got the command kit. Grey Slayers got nothing.
>>95943384#1 is preferable, #2 is acceptable (still not a fan of the right-hand-on-bolter, but the design otherwise looks good. Is that just tac squad beakie with a spacer?)
>>95943468I always took it as bracing to fire. Which doesn't necessarily fit with the (sometimes) reccoil-less bolters, but eh.
>>95943102Right now, in the Exemplary Battles section of their download page, they have some 1st edition ones with 1st edition rules. Kalium Gate and Perditus for example. Whyever...
>>95943726Like it or not, it's actually perfect 1:60 on the whole range except 1 army..
Old World and AoS included.
Have we seen anything regarding the Ally chart and any restrictions on using allied transports?
>>95943831even if a bolter had recoil (it doesn't), they wouldn't squat in poop mode to fire it. They weigh 2000 lbs each and have power-assisted super-muscle strength like superman.
Firing a bolter wouldn't even shake them.
They might need to squat for the autocannon or heavy bolter, but basically none of the other guns justify it.
>>95943848Those would have been in the Exemplary Battles Volume 2 or 3 books, along with Legiones Hereticus for WE or EC or TS.
But we're on that three-year treadmill now lads. Nothing gets finished now!
>>95943860No. Sharing transports has never worked out so we won't be allowed to do it.
>>95943860they're not gonna allow sharing. They don't want stuff like filling an Iron Hands rhino (-1 to be shot at) full of World Eaters berserkers.
>>95942741Army is a strong word for any group of custards at less than 6000 points but i do have quite a few of them. Not by choice mind you. Friends and family kept gifting them to me for some reason (I played tyranids from 3rd to 5th edition) but at least it i had an army ready to build when I moved to an area where 30k is the most played ttg
>>95943868We don't need to analyze the old pose. Old pose is just old. Small company made product, grew and revised it as time went on. That's it. That's the entire front to back of the discussion.
>>95943727>Cope>CopeThey just can't help themselves
Speaking of scales and size, does anyone have the plastic chaplain from the betrayal at calth set that theyโd be willing to post up next to the nu-mark 3? Need to decide on a base model for my praetor
>>95943911the thing is people use the old shitting pose to pretend marines were the exact same scale as guardsmen and to pretend primaris were necessary, they weren't.
(If anything the real issue is they just needed to keep firstborn the same and shrink the heads and hands on imperial guardsmen a bit)
Saul's got this in the bag, surely.
>>95943932Minicompare is both free and just as accurate as an anon with a camera
>>95944000depends on which way he spins
>>95944000could not possibly care less. Warcom "duels" have never been real. They can film a fake fight 20 times until they get the result they want.
>>95944008Not that accurate, and a slave to the angle of the promotional photo. Anon with a camera can put two together at the same angle.
Also, that gap at the wrist just looks bad.
>>95943587theyโre 7ft tall supersoldiers. theyโre tall like thor bjornson is tall, not tall like a fantasy giant is tall.
>>95944008Oooooof hurts to see.
>>95943868>even if a bolter had recoil (it doesn't)It very much does as per every books, video media and video game ever produced and GW approved.
And when you know how anal GW is about improving things...

>>95944396>I hope most elites get downshifted to a 3+ saveUnironically. I know they are wearing cool armour, but there being so much artificer around devaluated regular power armour so much people play like AP3 sucks unless it has at least Breaching 5+
>Oh hi new Axe and Plasma gun profiles!
>>95943887Thats not true, technically, 8th edition atleast you could if you were battle brothers. Not sure about 9th or 10th as I couldn't be assed keeping up with the slop
>>95944396>fuck off with every army starting with a praetor.Praetors were necessary because they unlocked Rites of War, and fuck playing without those.
But armies should be able to use Rites of War without them - you shouldn't need one dude to remind you where you're from!
Now they will unlock Apex detachments that need high command dispensation, and that is quite alright with me...
...except the part where their only use is Unlocking Apex, and then the Special Assignment bonus says I specifically cannot do the ONE thing they're good for this edition.
...guess that's my Day One Houserule lmao. Have you considered any houserules of your own this early yet?
>>95944478I never took one to a real game. I just used a Delegatus or a named character that has MotL. I also don't like that I seemingly need one to take multiple legion specific units. I'm not even spamming, I just have a choice of three options and take two of them any given list.
>>95944478>Didn't pick a delegatus to unlock ROW as well as provide actual utility in gameLol. Lmao, even.
>>95944509Most of my lists look like they're going to be the Main Detachment, an Aux one for the heavy transports, then 2 Logistical Benefit: Army Vanguard
>>95944520Said Praetor, but should've said Master of the Legion instead yeah. Always took a Delegatus. Cheaper and does mostly the same.
...though I did take Dynat sometimes. I really like the guy and his datasheet.
So how are we feeling about 3.0?
>>95944478Am I missing something? If the only reason you're taking a praetor is to unlock apex, then just take the praetor in the high command slot??? Why do you need to use a prime benefit to stuff them in a command slot? That's just if you want an extra praetor or special character
>>95944566Generally optimistic but with some concerns surrounding weapon profiles since we saw what happened to plasma
>>95944567Looking for ways to get yet more Apex
>>95944566If my list is even still legal it's been rendered useless so I'm probably out.
>>95944566Willing to give it a shot, but I am not excited for the new challenge rules or the higher amount of wounds on characters so far.
I wonder if with the plasma nerfs GW also went on to nerf plasma burner and heavy burners.
>>95943093"Can" and "can in a way that works well mechanically" are different
>>95944566Cautiously optimistic, hoping my gameplan of 40 despoilers, 20 assault marines, and 20 gal vorbak running forward like screaming retards with plasma tactical supports (+ now plasma saturnine terminators and Dreadnought) as fire support still works out well enough even with all the nerfs. I'm actually having fun with trying to connect elements of the army in with the new detachment system, like my moritat being the relentless task master in charge of the tactical support detachment, ensuring they fire true so their brothers are covered.
>>95944566Got to see libers. A dogshit ruleset can be overcome by armies actually being fun to build army lists with and play. A perfectly solid core ruleset can be obliterated by armies being bland or monobuild.
Is there any chance of plastic voraxii on the horizon, my green stuff skills suck (the Stl I used didn't have proper ammo cables).
>>95944536>2 Logistical Benefit: Army VanguardAh so a prime slot in each detachment used for logistics? I see, for some reason it thought only officers could. I just want to know what destroyers are because I probably could fit my list as is after all.
>>95944566I didn't like second edition and everything shown so far gives me confidence third edition will be better than second to play if you enjoy a more narrative experience.
Nothing matters if you play with people that pretend their filthy lists are narrative. Luckily all of mine moved back to 40k already.
>>95944566So far so bad, too much Tzeentch
>>95944687>I want to read the Libers NOWGW's campaign is working, not gonna lie. Made me hungry
>>95944729They must be If we got plastic ursarax.
Also if you have a roller, which looks like you do, then just make a really long narrow/flat rectangle of greenstuff and press the roller onto it as a texture. You could get a really simplified version of picrel.
>>95944566At the least 3.0 seems way more of a finished product than 2.0 was, so carefully optimistic.

Take centurion of any type
Take shock assault detachment for 1x6 or 2x3 Saturnine
Take Saturnine dreadnought as your logistical advantage prime benefit
>>95944964The dread is a single slot aux, a logistical Benefit would be just making the dread. It's a wash either way. You could have a Centurion with a buff benefit and two aux, or a Consul with the Logistics benefit and one aux. Either can take a single dread.
You know anons
I was thinking: evade does something different now, and we haven't seen the shooting, movement or cover rules...
Is there a chance go to ground is back, like how volley fire is just overwatch? I'd say no since that feels like something they'd have called out, but there's been no mention of volley fire either. And it feels like something relatively easy to implement just put in a step of the shooting process where upon being targeted they can choose to go to ground like how volley fire is a step in charging.

>>95945203Sounds like you just havent learned how GW works. They have two tiers of items, wide-releases and limited-releases. A limited-release (Space wolves army box) a store asks "can I have 10 of these?" GW just sends them 2 or 3 boxes capped.
A wide-release item like Skaventide, if a store asked for 30 copies, they receive 30 copies not 2-3 boxes.
Wide release items, GW has decided not to do any FOMO at all, which means scalpers have no reason to chase any wide release.
I have 10 different websites bookmarked and it takes about 2 seconds after the preorder window to learn what items are wide-release or not. On a fomo release, it sells out in 5 seconds, or often doesn't receive the 15% discount (they sold 230 space wolf box for 230 full price), or they post "we apologize but due to limited distribution we are unable to do pre-orders on this item"
A wide release it just says "Available: 30" in a dozen stores across the entire country and scalpers simply skip.
Saturnine received 30 news articles instead of 1 article and months of hyping, that means there's exactly zero chance GW isn't giving Saturnine box a wide-release where stores can buy 30+ each.
>>95945249I don't really need to wait 4 months to get an extra 15% off t b h

>>95945283problem for a lot of parts of the world is that in order to from GW you have to order directly from them, and not other suppliers and you can't sell cheaper then 5% lower then GW price, which is moot anyway as the VAT being higher eats the 5% difference anyway.
And if a store tries to sell for less and GW gets a word about it (and it will as stores snitch on each other, to cut other people shipments) they stop sending you stuff, and your table top gaming store just went belly up.
>>95945340>problem for a lot of parts of the world is that in order to from GW you have to order directly from themThat sucks and I can understand the pain, but then the whole "Wait until black friday" thing doesn't really apply to begin with

>>95945311this is my first edition change in any GW game, played a bit of AoS in 2ed, and I am actualy scared about my army. I build characters with jump packs and jet bikes, people keep saying that they may get rid of the option, because there is no non kitbash version of a pretor with a pack or jetbike. Same with terminators with thunder hammers, terminators with desintegrators and maces, assasin clades from the firewing. my jump pack companions and my cataphract companions. From the looks of it aside for 20 tacticals and 10 lascanon HSS I may end up with either units that are terrible or straight up illegal.
>>95945351Well we don't have black friday. So we only can envy both the ways of buying stuff.
>>95945370They could warn people in advance instead of lieing that that game doesn't change. 6 months saving up to get 15 original models sucks, especialy after you find out that they are now bad.

>>95945390>warn people in advanceSo you want them to spend money to make less money? Do you really think any corporation would spend a dime for a customer's benefit?
>>95945390The #1 rule of this hobby, regardless of system, is to buy models based on your enjoyment of the models themselves and their lore, with the game being a distant third
Because ironically enough, the only games where old models are still doing exactly what they used to do are the ones where models matter the least, like Battletech or D&D
>>95945390That's what you get for buying stuff based on what is good
Also, you don't even fucking know if they are bad
>>95945435There are no other DA models being sold by GW. What was I suppose to do ? Everyone runs a units of hammer bodyguard, and I don't think DA jetbikes were some sort of broken option.
>>95945408I bought the models GW was selling. If GW sold other stuff, like DA specific despoilers or tacticals, maybe I would have bought those.

And yeah, the question of "What the hell will he actually do on the battlefield and what unit will he go with?" is entirely reasonable
I hope there are saturnine centurions though, there's really no reason there shouldn't be
>>95945556this is why 100% of people should be buying recasts and proonts for their legion specific stuff. >>95944638With the saturnine AP3 flamers, who knows
Flamers in general seem to be looking really good this edition for causing statuses, let alone killing stuff better
>>95945390Even if they're just heavy flamers with breaching 6+/5+, that's honestly not bad at all depending on cost
Assault S6 AP4 Breaching (5+) template on a full squad would be a pretty scary little bomb
>>95945167It's not the ratio of infantry to armor that is cool it's the ratio of armor with the same armor that is cool. Multiple of the same vehicle are very cool while rolling up with 4 tanks that are widely different is very boring.
>>95944996If there isn't, there could easily be reintroduced. Just like there's now full BS Overwatch and old snapshot overwatch (volley fire), there can be:
1. Evade reaction. Costs 1 RP, grants Shrouded (5+) damage mitigation
2. Go to Ground. Costs 0 RP, grants +1 to cover and causes the Status Effect that prevents further reactions, forces snapshots and stops movement.
What's that, Suppressed?

What will they be immune to, this time around?
>>95946476Immune to being one-shot by a meltagun, thanks to the meltagun needing a 6 to pen and then still not doing enough damage.
>>95946476Split fire and ignore being forced to snap shot by suppression (but not immune to the status itself)
>>95946476They're functionally very difficult to actually stop before they throw out their cargo, which is probably the point
Spartans I think will be the bigger beneficiary of all of these changes, because with a flare shield (assuming it works similarly to how it does now, which based on the thermal diffraction field it very well could) they're literally immune to melta guns from the front

>>95946696I was thinking of doing an infantry wave for my IW, but I might be doing an armored fist army myself.
>>95946712Lascannons are reliable against av14 and lower, while melta is only reliable against av13 and under. And lascannons have long range so you are easily going to actually be applying that damage every round, vs the melta squad that is going to be lucky to get 2 volleys off, and needs to get into melta range to start with.
Not saying they're useless or anything, but honestly their role as 'end all of AT' is very much not a think anymore. Sure, they will delete predators if you get into melta range, but lascannons will obliterate them easily as well, and from long range.
While against av14 targets, lascannons will have hit that LR/spartan multiple times vs the melta squad's once before it gets deleted since its right on the enemy line.

>>95946730Sallies currently have -1 to wound from Flame, Melta, Plasma, or Volkite weapons, which is kinda funny considering the 'thermal diffraction field' doesn't work against literal heat rays.
>>95946730They're T6, so it affects S3 (6s to immune) S5 (5s to 6s), S6 (4s to 5s), S7 (3s to 4s), and S8 (2s to 3s)
...shit I just realized if lasguns and lasrifles actually have the las trait then that makes them immune to the most common guard weapon LOL. Truly the plasma loadout will be total militia/solar aux death.
>>95946740I wouldn't really call a 1/3rd chance to do 1 or 2 hullpoints reliable, and lascannon HSS are not exactly low priority targets with amazing defenses, nor can they return fire the way they used to
That with their enormous cost means they're probably not going to be auto picks for this sort of stuff, especially when a land raider (or more realistically, a spartan with an AV15 front) is going to disgorge its contents before you can stop it, at which point it's pretty moot
>>95946759-1 to wound, not strength. Unless the rule changes to -1 strength, it won't make them immune to anything they weren't already immune to

>>95946740A lascannon squad having to shoot a land raider/spartan at least twice means that transport will already have delivered its cargo before it is destroyed.
>>95946779honestly, the better question is why are humble missile launchers going to be a genuine contender as anti AV14?
Melta and lascannons are both just going to be hoping to plink down 500 hull points on a spartan, while a single s8 missile can immobilise the spartan. Even if it repairs itself, a single turn of no movement is either going to force them to disembark early, or delay their deathstart from actually doing anything useful.
ALSO glancing hits are specifically written to not allow cover saves at all, while pens do, so its even more efficient against hull down vehicles.
God these vehicle damage changes are so genuinely fucking retarded, I don't understand what their logic behind it is.

>>95946729Name of the weapon doesn't matter, only the type that it's given. Various neutron weapon get lobbed under the 'Las' in the current rules (regardless of whether they have "laser" in the name or not), but there's also some that don't. Similar to how stub weapons are now classified as 'Auto' weapons. It's all up to how the designers want to define them. Personally, I thought it was the neutrons that were doing the heavy lifting in neutron weapons. Lightning guns also use a laser as part of their operation, but get classified their own thing.
>>95946871>Name of the weapon does not matter>Its lobbed under lasI...anon i dont have the necessary skills to help you through this one.
>>95946921his point is sometimes weapons with a given name don't have a trait you'd expect, based off that name.
Meltabombs not having the melta rule is an example
>>95946921Neutron blaster and neutron-wave cannon do not have "laser" anywhere in their name, yet are classified as "Las" weapons. Lascutter, despite the name, is not a "Las" weapon.

>>95945283I know this is difficult for some to grasp, but an LGS is a business and it's their job to persuade me to spend money there, not my obligation to support them. They're not a club, community, or friend and if fucking you in particular up the arse with an unlubed rusty clawhammer bumped their margins by half a percent they'd do it without even a second of hesitation - you owe them absolutely nothing. Hell just by playing there with 100% online-purchased or chinacast or poonted models you're giving them value in exchange for the space because you make their store look popular and vibrant and friendly which draws in the type of customers physical retail makes most of their money from these days: clueless relatives shopping for presents.

>>95947549Objective Markers are markers in the Game that indicate important Objectives that your forces will need to Secure. In order to Secure an Objective, units you control will need to be within that Objective Marker's unique Control Radius. A Control Radius is defined by a Circle centered upon that Objective Marker with a Radius of 3 (Three [III]) Inches. A Circle is a closed planar curve every point of which is equidistant from a fixed point within the curve. The Focus Objective can be Controlled by your Units if they are within that Objective Marker's associated Control Radius, in which case that Objective Marker is said to be under your Control.

Tips for kitbashing HQs from MK4 tactical boxes to keep my costs down? I'm guessing bare bones melee consuls and an armistos with a heavy bolter or a missile launcher are a good start?
>>95947795The arms from the 30k plastic vehicles top crewman can easily be used for centurions and especially Master of signals.
>>95947549There is a hard rule on obj marker size? I always felt 40mm is a good one so you can kitbash something fun
>>95947795If you're a poor fag, than in terms of most gear a centurion/consul has, the basic tac box has basically everything you need.
Power weapons (paragon blade can easily be represented by a normal power sword), special pistols, leader hat, etc.
Gear them up appropriately, paint em up so they are clearly a leader dude, and msybe some greenstuff work for extra leader trim etc, put em on a rock so theyre physically a little taller than your basic dudes, etc, etc.

>>95947854I don't think I plan on buying any special boxes, maybe even no vehicles. I still have my old 40k rhinos and a whirlwind so maybe I could strip and repaint those.
>>95947869Pretty much the plan to keep them "cheap", three to five boxes of mk4s and that's pretty much it. If it works out then I might also get a catapr terminator box and the two for one box with the betrayal at calth HQ box. That way I will have 60-100 MK4 marines:
>40-60 tacticals >5-10 heavy bolter, missile launcher, plasma gun and meltagun marines each>maybe 5-10 flamers on place of that many tacticals>perhaps some kitbashed HQs in place of tacticalsMy favorite part of the heresy was always the art showcasing battles between thousands of marines.
Idk how to feel with Rapid Fire being simplified to always 2 shots. I assume it's so you can now always charge after shooting any non-heavy guns? Shrimplified.

>>95948363Rapid Fire started as a space marine-only special rule involving bolters
you can only now charge after shooting if your weapon has the Assault trait
>>95948487Oh, so, bolters still prevent you from charging in 3.0? Then why make them 2 shots across their full range? No enticement for close range high risk high reward.
Inb4 "short range doesn't exist". The opponent doesn't have unlimited reactions. And if they Reposition (all 2 units), they won't be able to afford the more important Return Fire.
Also 40k had a rule for full range 2-shot bolters when marines were stationary for a while. Called it Bolt Discipline or something
>>95947583Amerishartiburgerlardifat hands typed this post. I know in your mad world corporations are people too and you have no choice but to drive 500 miles to the local hellmall to play games in a store with lots of L-shaped grey cardboard, but in civilised countries our businesses sell us things and we socialise with human beings at places of our choosing.
Even so, Americans shouldn't be let off the hook, the only people keeping you enslaved to this mad mentality are yourselves. Find community space, rent a place yourself, form a club that *uses* a local store as a place to meet but isn't beholden to it and treat it as what it is - a business establishment that wants your custom - and structure your relationship with it accordingly, hell, arrange to play in a rotation at each other's homes aren't you always boasting about how you have gigantic suburban castles to live in? Again, retail outlets are not your *friend* you mental case, as evidenced by the countless people who complain about the way most "FLGS" now shun wargamers in favour of TCG whales *because they make more money from them*.
You're like a beaten wife crawling back to the feet of the man who struck you because you're too afraid to know what life could be without the certainty of his fists.

>You just get a pathetic 3VP and the winner is still decided by VP
This new version of Sudden Death is some CAACfag shit. What the fuck GW? This is bullshit. So when I kill everything my opponent has I only get as much VP as one fucking tactical squad gets for standing on an objective for one turn? Or wait no, even less because Line now gives bonus VP for objectives.
This combined with all the nerfs to dreadnoughts is gonna make my army unplayable. I think I'm just gonna quit and sell my army. GW is forcing people into taking stupid shit like tacticals, but I just wanna play elite units that do what is actually important: kill everything. Worst change of the whole edition.
