>>95946573First of all decide the kind of shit you want to paint. If you want small detailed minis like warhammer, you want thin water-based acrylics. Good brands are vallejo, army painter, atom/ionic, two thin coats and AK 3rd gen. GW/Citadel has contrast paints which are actually really nice, unlike basic stuff, but they are a thing of their own you should look into.
If you want to paint vehicles and robots like gundams, you want to go straight to airbrush solvent-based paints. You can make do with the acrylics listed above but the solvent stuff is so much nicer. They self-level extremely well, dry instantly, have perfect coverage and look great. Good brands are mr. hobby, gaianotes, revell, tamiya and humbrol.
