Dude the old thread is on page fucking 4 and /tg/ is a dead board where shit stays up for days without bumping
bit early to start up a new thread, oh well.
>TQ
Disciples versus lumineth seemed neat, at least that short story from that one versus box was nice to read.
If I really had to pick one, I would have to pick OBR versus slavs to darkness.
Are there any named Chaos champions who you like anon?

I'm shocked flying fish vs flying sailors basically never happens.

anyone know a good way to paint black Ironjawz? Like the old black orcs from fantasy but a bit warmer. Believe or not it's hard for me to choose between blue or grey highlights and tan or white accents.
I got a squad of 5 brutes that I gotta get done soon. Black/yellow has been a painto paint even with contrast paints. I think I'm gonna use a warmer green like death world forest for the skin
>>95962302sorry it wasn't to your liking, here's another I found on google

Would anyone happen to know if the most recent tome has a paint guide and/or would be willing to please share said tome if it includes the painting section?
>>95962443Recent paint guide only has the basic IJ sheme, but Krypts have been a thing since 1e, so there should be old paint guides for them flying around the Internet
I never played 3rd, but I've only played spearhead and it's fun. I know Seraphon had coalesced and starborne in 3rd, which were psychic themed and saurus/dino themed respectively.
I looked at their rules on wahapedia and I'm wondering what a psychic heavy Seraphon army would look like. A slann starmaster seems mandatory, but how many is too many and when is Kroak worth running. How many kroxigors and saurus do you run, if any, and how do you synergize with your mages? The psychic side of the army looks cooler to me (skink starpriest, starseer, and slann) but I don't know how the current spearhead boxes fit into a psychic heavy army.
The starmaster looks like an intimidating paint job but Vincey V said they're actually deceptively simple to paint with drybrushing and washes.
>>95962373The early art was rushed so lots of new commissions on short notice with hefty restrictions on direction given it's a new setting and new product line. I recall some q&a or rumour about an artist bemoaning the restrictions mandating he draw several figures in a piece identically because there was only one model to represent it - might be the Megaboss stuff in Realmgate Wars where there was a battalion of 3+ megabosses

anyone here ever built or painted a skink starseer or slann? how are they on the table?
>>95963407Both are strong on the table. I haven't painted them.
Slaan is a lynchpin if you take him, skink dude is a great buff piece.
>>95963407I painted a Starseer but I'm a nogames unfortunately. It's a really fun kit though but then again that's true for pretty much everything Seraphon I've painted so far
>>95963581How does free willed dead work exactly?
Are there like, friendly nighthaunt and vampires?
>>95964100Cado is borderline a friendly vampire.
Nighthaunt are specifically tormented homicidal spirits, but there defiently are normal ghosts you can just talk to without eating a rusted scyth
>>95964100Nighthaunt are sapient, so they can be friendly, or at least cordial, under the right circumstances. Vampires are basically no different from regular mortals, they don't even really serve Nagash, they're just out for themselves. Ossiarchs are also perfectly sapient, if pretty uniformly devoted to the cause of Nagash and Katakros. But there's no reason a mortisan couldn't shoot the shit with some dawnbringers as long as they've paid the tithe and I know there's fluff about Ossiarchs enjoying strategy games.

I wish there was a Troggherd Spearhead
>>95964288Maybe white dwarf will provide one. But instead of trogg, it has that one underworld warband. Which reminds me, it pisses me off that the new ko spearhead doesnโt have the other underworld warband in it.
>>95964151Is that centaur vampire lady friendly?
>>95964305KO UW band was reprinted for UW season 2, so it was obvious it won't show up. Just like we know OBR warband will not
>>95964305Oh yeah, that would be great. Mollog, a Dankhold, and two units of Rockguts, I'd buy two. If they made Mollog a generic hero I'd buy three.
>>95964100>>95964151>>95964189I think the free willed dead aren't like good undead or something, but rather people that died and got buried under morrda's protection and therefore don't have their soul enslaved by nagash. They're just dead, not undead.
>>95964288>>95964305Could try and homebrew something ? A troggboss, unit of rockguts, fellwaters and maybe molllog's mob if you have it ?

Any advice on how this fella works on the table?
>>95965282I'm sorry anon no advice but damn the 4th edition skaven shit looks great. I've never cared about them before and I'm so-so on the lore, but I'm debating on getting the skaventide half just to paint up the fuckers, maybe play some spearhead. Great looking fellas.
>>95965282He's basically a moulder apothecary with a pistol that only hits half the time. Kinda boring support character, unfortunately.
>>95965271Well I'm about to drop a giant log trying to contain the spillage of precious toilet water. Wish me luck.
>>95965282 I know he's "alright" in the rat ogre army of renown but I forgot what he does there.
Are Cado's books any good?
I'm still salty they made a replacement model for him already.
>>95966212No. Black library slop hasnโt released anything even half decent in 20 years. Go read Gotrek and Felix from the start if you want decent Warhammer fantasy writing. Nothing written past 2010 is worth your time.
>>95966212One of my favorite Ossiarch moments comes form his 1st book, but i've only seen fragments of the book, so idk if it was a show of quality or a gem in a pile of rocks
>>95966263I think I've only read one whf novel. I don't remember the name but it was about a town attacked by beastmen. It followed the story of the defenders and maybe some greatswords on their way to provide reinforcements.
Only Black Library book i've ever read was Horus Heresy: Robot Gorilla and the Chamber of Secrets

Thanquol is never getting a book.
>>95966863Why didn't you use the correct riders for those horses?
>>95966882You don't have to build them like the picture on the box, you've got a lot of different options for how you build them.
>>95966882>>95966908What kind of learning difficulty is this?
>>95966863Were you that anon I chatted to about whether you should do different colours or unified scheme and we weren't entirely sure if when you join an army if you're forced to do it, or if you just take the livery of your house/nation/whatever since you were the only guy who survived?
>>95966726Why would there be a sex scene in any book let alone Skaven x Stormcast?
>>95967711Well thereโs a reason why the sex scene in that book is chalked up to just a dream sequence between the two
>>95966270that goes hard as hell
>>95967718Let me guess, incredibly vague and nebulous and not at all like claimed.
>>95967728You are correct. It is a dream sequence where Hamilcar is with his wife and his wife turns into the Skaven he is hunting and is straddling him. There is no mention of sex or anything.
>>95967706I did talk about doing unified colors or different livery, but I think the lore of Freeguild Cavaliers implies each individual guy can just kinda do whatever. They're usually the last survivor of some big battle who takes the best gear available, so I guess you could just kee going with the symbol and colors of your regiment. But it's not like anybody would be there to get mad if you repainted it
>>95967787Yeah the fluff is they're the last survivors and shit. But it isn't particularly clear if when they arrive at a city and become part of the military if they're forced to adopt that particular cities livery or what. Seems to kinda defeat the idea of a unified front if you're all guys from Greywater and suddenly Ser Bumblefuck from Gnashpit of Buttrape (Formerly Cove of Flower Fields) turns up and goes 'Yeah fuck you, these are my colours, NERDS' and goes and joins the other guys all sporting their own livery.
My guess is it is left up to you, the modeller to decide. Bit like how in TOW they made it possible for you, if you wished, to make your Knights for Bret be all one colour or have the mixed livery ala WHFB if you wished.
Anyway, good work anon.
>one model carries a weapon
Fuck GW for this shit.
>>95967966You don't have to model them carrying the standard and instrument. As long as you're clear they're musicians and standard bearer (and that's pretty obvious you'll take them since they don't cost). Or, attach the banner to the model somewhere else or put the instrument somewhere else.
>>95967966It works better with drummers, some of them you can see bashing heads with the drum sticks.
Why aren't hobgrots green?
>>95968043To make it clear that they don't belong in the army they're in.
things we'll never see again. Rest in peace, bonesplitter.
>>95968043In AoS, the hobgrots were created like other greenskins by Gorkamorka. They were very materialistic and cunning and liked to strike deals and bargins even at this time. When Gorkamorka split up and fought each other the hobgrots offered to betray Mork to Gork in exchange for compensation. Gork was disgusted by their profiteering ways and turned his back on them, draining their skin of their green colour.
However Mork was impressed with their cunning and sneaky ways so blessed them with enough intelligence for them to hoard their power and wealth and outsmart simple brutes like Gork and other greenskins. He also made them quite aware that they are outcasts in the eyes of the greenskins (due to not having greenskin) and this gave them a sense of absurdistic nihilism, so they really don't care.
>>95968050>>95968077Or, or... you actually read the fluff and don't talk shit about stuff you're ignorant about.
>>95968043To separate them from the other Ork subraces/facitons and kind of tie them into the more swampy terrain/biome
>>95968094This is what I mean. This pg childish hasbro toy like quality to the art. Bloodless and commercialized lacking any sort of artistic merit.
>>95968105Every time someone goes into detail with lore I lose a few more braincells. Who writes this crap.
>>95968109>BloodlessAnon there is blood in that picture. What the fuck are you on about? It is also fan art you fucking retard.
Holy fuck are you guys just from some discord raid group or something?
>>95968119>ask question>get given answer>WTF?????
>>95968119This is on par with real mythology though.
>>95968105>Or, or... you actually read the fluffThe fluff you posted actually backs up the thing I said, it's a visual cue that these guys aren't proper Greenskins. Which is also why they have different gear from the Kruleboyz, to make it immediately clear that the Hobgrots are a different thing.
I phrased it dismissively because I think it's stupid they're in the Kruleboyz army instead of an actually useful unit, but we're still saying the same thing.
Will these little ones ever be in AoS?
>>95968171Not really. They are greenskins. They were created as greenskins. Gork and Mork just made them not look green for shits and giggles. It's like saying black orcs aren't greenskins in WHFB
>b-b-but dark greenCalled black orcs.
>>95968182doomdivers already got a model. If you mean the...snotlings? They'll probably just remain as a background possibility.
whats the real difference between hobgrots and hobgoblins
A night of Moon Clan partying and... are you sure there are no fem grots?
>>95968198What I am saying to you is this: when you're facing a loaded crossbow what's the difference?
>>95968198some are green Mongolians and others are not.
>>95968183Man I really need you to stop and think for a bit. Hobgrots aren't real, Kruleboyz aren't real. These are products made by a British company called Games Workshop.
Why do you think the in real life actual decision was made to make Hobgrots a different color and have completely different gear from Kruleboyz? It was to make it clear that they are something different from Kruleboyz. They are their own thing who roll with Kruleboyz sometimes, but are still a distinct entity. This is the most basic of visual storytelling
I do not care about Fantasy
>>95968182No sausages? These little green ones make me feel so sorry for them.
>>95968182I wish they hadn't drawn the peehole
Hobgrots should have been the new destruction faction in 3rd edition, not those anemic orruks they gave us.
>>95968284I don't hate Kruleboyz and I love Gitmob, but a Hobgrots army that was a combination of Kruleboyz and Gitmob probably would have been better than what we got. Hobgrots as a mostly mounted faction with lots of captured beasts and warmachines could have really been something
>>95968273The greenskins are the only ones who can show uncensored nudity because they have nothing down there.
>>95968284>>95968303The hobgrots will never be a faction and will only be guests of the others.
The Gotrek we see in AoS is the same one that appears in Fantasy or are they completely different characters and if so how did he survive the end of times, was he teleported or was he summoned?
>>95968474yes we're saying that we don't like the current situation and imaging a different one we would have liked better
>>95966212In the context of BL they're enjoyable. Middle of the pack but entertaining, with some decent characterization.
>>95968539He survived because he was a very popular character and GW thought they could ship him with some minority as a new sidekick for AoS but it failed.
>>95968656People wanted to see Gotrek and Felix no Gotrek and an inclusive character to fill the diversity quota, that's why it failed.
Why the fuck did they release a whole new chamber that's 80% heroes that are meant to synergise with just two 3-model units? What are the chances they get a second wave?
Some ruination mages or archers could be cool.
because only a few who received the power of one of the 8 winds of magic during the end times were reincarnated as gods in age of sigmar and not all, example - balthasar who was the last with the power of chamon and grimgor with the power of ghur.
Since the miniatures are not to scale, can someone tell me the canonical size of the gargants and mega-gargants in meters?
>>95968699Makes me wish subfactions were a bit more in-depth including adding keywords to units or a certain number based on army size and maybe also changing statistics on warscrolls. That way you could have Ruination Liberators or Vanquishers.
>>95966882Have you ever seen a real horse?
Is the new capsule thing for KO a spell or a terrain? (i ask because it has a circular base, and terrains dont have bases)
>>95969219From the way the article reads, its dynamic terrain.
>>95969219More than likely an endless spell, but it could be similar to the khorne skull altar thing or sylvaneth wyldwoods where it's terrain and a spell
>>95969219Itโs a urinal. Your units have to regularly empty their piss tanks to keep fighting at full strength.
>>95968760I don't know about regualars, but megas are said to grow up to 100 feet (so like 30+ meters or an 8 story house). That being said not all megas are max height
>>95968539>The Gotrek we see in AoS is the same one that appears in FantasyNo, they're compleatly unrelated and he has to constantly explain to everyone he's not that guy. It's very funny evey time it happens
>>95968760i forget where but they said the miniatures are actually meant to be pretty much the canonical scale, and its the art that is inconsistent. i dont have the source article but the gist of it is that the physical miniatures are meant to be the sort of "final word" in canonical size and appearance of a given character or unit
>>95969652That's defineitly bullshit, unless we assume some humans are just twice the size of other humans
>>95969727It also doesn't matter in the first place and it's not like GW even think about these details.
>>95969727>unless we assume some humans are just twice the size of other humanscorrect
are the new rat ogres easy to paint?
>>95969859Definitely. They takes contrast and washes easily.
>>95969859fairly easy with lots of structure like fur, metal and warpstone that goes well with contrast, inks and drybrushing. Skaven are forgiving that way in general.
I pounced on the master moulder and three rat ogres. Always loved the concept of clan moulder and these look fantastic. One of the few good things AoS has brought about.

>>95970052Because it's trying to invoke classic sea serpent/kharibdyss imagery
>>95970247Meh. Lore representation for khadrons is better than fantasy dwarves. At least post 6e. The tonal atmosphere for dwarves inn fantasy generally felt really fucking weird and made them one note. Itโs one thing if they were supposed to be taken to a comedic degree, but itโs supposed to be taken seriously, which brings me back to the tonal dissonance of the faction. Also Tolkien did them better.
>>95970252>classic kharibdyss imageryCharybdis doesn't even look like that
>>95967775Yeah hamilcar and Ikrit are linked mentally by that point, as part of the weird connection the skaven is trying to use to steal the secret of reforging for himself, and it's a weird dream sequence that represents that
>>95968539Obviously yeah it's the same gotrek, in the end times his final adventure involved swapping places with Grimnir fighting off endless daemon hordes in the realm of chaos and thinking he'd finally found his doom. Instead his first aos story is him being spat out of the realm of chaos into the mortal realms after having been endlessly fighting for some unknown amount of time, and him having to pick up the pieces and try to understand why grimnir would deny him his doom like that (it's because his death would've been pointless, and now he has to find a reason to live again)

The deployment maps on Warcrier have been erased and the warcry shuffler app doesn't load anymore.
What happened? The game is impossible to play without the battleplan deck which you can't buy.
Did GW throw a C&D at them?
Is there any alternative site with all of the battleplans?
I was really hoping to play today.
>>95970856>Does anyone still play or care about Warcry?I only care about warcry in terms of prospective scenery and new units.
the pity hero release schedule has been a disaster for this game.
>>95969219I count it as an equivalent to spells
which would mean kharadrons are still missing their scenery piece
>>95970940Boats count as scenery
>>95970940It's effectively a scenery piece that summons spells, I consider it both.
>>95970984Not when they're so small, make a kharadron aircraft carrier and then we can talk about that working as a scenery piece
we'll see with the dawnbringers cogfort what's the limit for that kind of stuff
>>95971011That might be a good way to go. A flagship with anchor dropped.
>>95970559This is a terrible comparison but youโre sort of right, all the non-hero nu-CoS infantry are in the old empire model scale while the heroes + everything else are in the larger aos heroic scale. In practice thereโs not really that much of a difference to the point that bits are still functionally interchangeable between the the different scaled kits, but you notice it if you kitbash or convert a lot as youโll get some occasional bits thatโre way too big or small to use. Also ends up with skeletons and zombies being physically bigger than the Steelhelms theyโre raised out of.
It is actually canon that human size is pretty volatile though, itโs been mentioned that some ghurish tribes naturally grow as large as stormcast in the same way some chamonic peoples naturally have a metallic sheen to their hair and fingernails, or some Aqyshians can do things like hold hot coals longer than azyrites before theyโre burnt by it.
Does anyone happen to have the building instructions for the revenant draconith?
>>95971011>>95971035problem is that it would be WAY too big to get made, realistically speaking, unless it's not an aircrafts carrier but a balloon boys carrier.
>>95964288I feel like an idiot for not picking up that Trugg box now.
>>95968699I dunno every faction is this game is overloaded with heroes and not enough basic bitch line units. Makes me want to become a towfag just so I can put some 20 man infantry blocks down so it looks like I'm playing an actual army.
>>95970174Apparently this game sells too well to get decent discounts, the Cathay box would be 60% off using AoS prices, 75% off with 40k prices.
>>95971676thats one of the reasons people are using the cathay models for cities or lumineth proxies, apart from looking good they are like a 50% savings over buying aos kits, especially lumineth
>>95971688yeah sure, its got almost zero appeal to me though outside the chick on the dragon horse.

Daughters of Khaine aren't going away anytime soon correct?
The online discourse makes me feel like AoS doesn't have a long lifespan.
Will Spearhead be around a while?
so is there still an argument to take a great unclean one or is rotigus the go to now?
>>95972456>so is there still an argument to take a great unclean oneNope, the scourge of ghyran Rotigus just does wayyy to fucking much for Maggotkin atm. On the bright side, the priests are good now, even if you want two of them to make them usable.
How do you make sure cavalry doesn't get bogged down?
>>95972474depends on what's in your toolbox.
>>95972474send it into appropriate targets. learning how big of a bite your cavalry can take in one go and what is too much for them is part of playing cavalry.
https://aos-statshammer.herokuapp.com
you can use this tool to punch in your cavalry's stats and get a sense for their average damage output against certain save targets, and that should give you an idea of roughly how much they can expect to kill on the charge, bad dice notwithstanding.
that said, it looks like this upcoming season has missions and tactics that more favor smaller, more numerous units for chasing after the objectives or scoring, so you may have a wider variety of smaller targets to charge the cavalry into and might even prefer running multiple smaller units of cavalry to chase after flankers and lone objective holders rather than going in on a reinforced deathball.
>>95972494I'm playing CoS. Should my formations be like "men at arms, with rifles behind, and cavalry to the side"? Charge with the pothelms, shoot the shit out of them, and mop up the stragglers with my cav?
Breaking leaks were mostly 40k but relevant to us:
>Ogors and the remaining Dark Elves from CoS are next to be squatted from AoS back to TOW

Am I looking for faction packs or spearhead rules for a game of Spearhead?
I ask because there's a lot of spearhead boxes missing from the rules on the community page.
>>95972604That's just all the newer boxes. All the old ones were released in Fire and Jade with Spearhead's core rules
>>95972604Should all be on the app

>>95972568have they leaked from anything other than your mom's ass?
>>95972568That isn't particularly a great leak because it has been said for about 5 years now. Also weird for GW to make an Ogre Spearhead and then, you know, squat them.

Where are the previews!?
No, gay dworfs don't count as a preview! Where the f are the reveals!?
>>95973111>vcDoesn't exist. It would be Undead. Fake grog. The ultimate goal for GW is to replace the minis of legacy factions with different visual cues so they can bring back them to TOW. >>95973612>>95973612AoS 10 year anniversary is going to be celebrated with a detailed Horus Heresy warcom. No one at GW cares about us anymore.

The only direction for the game is tournament player appeasement but they make up 0.0001% of consumers
>>95974138Which is funny because we can track tournament attendance and 4e is marked with less people playing tournaments than 3e. They are killing the game for no reason.
>>95972568Where are these leaks from?
>>95973151Anon, this is basically how GW operates. They shift stock and squat
>>95973793There's already an army that looks exactly like that
>>95974138I'll bite
>remove bravery because muh negative player experience Every single fucking modern edition of GW's mainline games including 40k has been sold with "THIS TIME bravery matters". 4 months in, everyone's starting to get fearless/bravery ignoring mechanics/rerolls and it ends up useless. Look at how every single time the bravery altering abilities sucked balls.
>maintain bravery response rules because recursion is important, so you have Freeguild Marshalls barking orders that cause dead models to resurrect in whatever the new position of the unit is Recursion mechanics and the widespread use of them serves 2 functions. 1, preventing you from playing vs 2500 points of models in a 2k game via summoning; and 2, representing various methods of unit durability and size, either making it feel like you're playing vs an actual horde or just representing bigger armies without needing the amount of models that killed fantasy, or trying to evoke the feeling of something being nigh unkillable either through rapid healing or straight up returning a big model to a unit.
>Squigs don't cause MW while fleeing (because they bounce through units to get away), they cause MW on death because whatever don't question things it's just a board gameFlavor fails are something I'll concede on but GW has been getting slowly better at it as the edition goes on. I think they reigned it in too hard initially but we're definitely seeing them open up a bit. Why would Squig herds do MW's when retreating unless they passed over that unit, which by the way, is exactly what Squig Hoppers do, you'll take the MW's for retreating, but you can do EXACTLY what you described in your complaint. Squig herds won't because they still have the herders, so instead GW chose to represent the risk of getting your arms close to a horde of angry meatballs.
All in all, I've been having the most fun playing 4e since I started the game in mid 2e even if it is just a few TTS matches and my monthly RTT.
>>95972589You know full well they won't be squatted
It will be the same as Grave/Barrow Guard.
A new unit for AoS that looks similar and fulfills the same role.
The same will happen to Witch Elves eventually, they will be replaced by Ulgurothi Blade speakers or something.
>>95974266The current Ogor range is like 3 kits plus heroes, and most of the heroes are AoS models. Replacing the Fantasy models with new ones would be a pretty small outlay, comparatively.
>>95973234if you left your basement for a moment you'd understand the vast majority of aos players dont even know what 4chan is lol
>>95974218Recursion is not diegetic for most armies, bravery negation is. 4e rules are not written with simulation in mind but arbitrary abstract gameplay concepts.
There's no reason to play a miniature wargame if the miniatures are irrelevant, if the rules don't reflect the miniatures.
5th edition will undo all this or it'll tank the system.
>>95974324I know, that's what I'm saying. It's easy and it is happening, to anything pre AoS, like my example of witch elves
>>95974760just like fanatics
how unga bunga are khorne daemons? have combat patrol from 40k and thinking of starting and 2nd army to play AoS
One question about the Magmapikes. So they're melee weapons like spears, but they shoot fire from the mouth. So they're magic bayonetted rifles functionally? The grip looks like it's sharp in some art, so you can turn it around and use it as an axe like some historic Polish gunaxes? Is that how they work?
>>95973793Cathay.
Much better chinesse representation than fantasy indians
>>95975052Iโm never gonna get used to how blocky these minis are.
>>95974963Khorne in aos is often referred to as a techy sort of army with a lot of tricks. You can build it as a face smash aggro army, but its not the best iteration of that as other factions do it better. Some people were running 4 bloodthirsters, which is about as unga bunga as you can get. A bloodthirster with the 20 bloodletters and 10 flesh hounds is a solid half of an army list, with the other 1k points being khorne mortals. You can go all in on demons and it will be fun to play, you just probably won't have a high win rate (which only matters if it matters to you)
>>95973967Are Barrow Guard actually any good? They look cool but the knight scroll looks like the kind of thing people will spam 20 of and that will be meta.

With Demons of Chaos about to be squated from 40k, what sort of redesigns do you expect for the no longer shared lessers to make them fit into the our god factions?
>>95977421None.
40000 gets redesigned plastic cyberdemons, horus heresy gets undivided plastic ruinstorm demons, the old world gets the 6th ed metal demons, age of sigmar keeps the current plastic demons.
Even for the ugliest demons in the ranges, pink horrors, GW knows that it will be way better to make plastic tzeentchian mortal warriors than to waste a release to redo pink horrors.
Any advice on painting eyes?
I'm currently trying to paint a 90s Blood Bowl team, and damn I totally suck.
I've seen tutorials saying to paint the eyes black and then add one thin white vertical stripe on each side, but I can't do it. Maybe because I have very cheap and shitty brushes. Most likely because I suck.
>>95977501>plastic tzeentchian mortal warriorsYou mean dedicsted unmaunted Tzaangor Enlightened kit
>>95977511No, I mean tzeentch warriors.
I guess they can be half tzaangor in places such as legs, and unlightened on foot will get removed rulewise anyway, so, same thing.
>>95974138i've noticed that both 40k and aos really hate horde armies and infantry in general. Armies don't really look like armies without battleline.
Was going to say TOW is the same way but their designers actually gave meaningful buffs to infantry in the last faq.
Makes me think that they consciously did this bullshit to drive sales away from the secondhand market that's flooded with infantry sprues due to broken down starter boxes.
>>95977704>i've noticed that both 40k and aos really hate horde armies and infantry in general. Armies don't really look like armies without battleline. It's not the games that hate basic infantry units, it's the players, gw simply followed that.
the first army to show that was chaos warriors in fantasy, since they were elite you needed to buy and paint less guys, the same success applied over to space marines with the added benefit of them being even simpler to paint for newbies.
Then the first revolution came with ogres in fantasy, they showed how an army of monstrous creatures wasn't just possible, but successful with newcomers for pretty much the same reasons (low model count, easy to paint).
next on the this road of self destructive discovery were imperial knights and custodes in 40k, even more elite, even fewer models, even simpler to paint, both massively successful, and from then almost every army has now a way to break the standard composition to field a list of only monsters, except for fantasy/the old world, which is still stuck with the now outdated idea that an army should look like an army, but even then you can theoretically make half your army, if not more, out of dragons now.
>>959777044th isn't so bad now but it launched with comical points hikes on everything that coupled with regiments restricting how many units you can take and unlimited reinforcements meant there's no upside to taking horses over elites
>>95977704infantry was prominent in 2nd edition, 3rd was kind of a mixed bag. 4th has been the only edition so far that outright works against infantry, but with the new seasons focus on being 10 different places at once and area denial being a massive part of the game now, infantry may see a come back. also helps that infantry point costs, like
>>95977778said, are coming back down to reasonable levels. at the start of the edition we had hit the threshold where grots were like 8 points a model, it was nuts. i'd say it still needs to come down another 10-20% in my opinion though
I painted four Snarlfang Riders before the Gitmob rules and prices dropped, killing all my interest in ever playing that army. What should I do with the fifth model? It's been just sitting on my to-paint shelf for months now and I have absolutely zero motivation to touch it
>>95977704You can play 100 models in some select armies, skaven, gitz, kruleboyz. Maybe obr, soulblight, and nighthaunt. Less than there used to be certainly.
>>95973111I can see it. Ogres are a much smaller range in one faction whereas the VC stuff is in Nighthaunt, SBGL and FEC which I think would make it easier
Plus with Cathay out they might want to do another eastern faction and if Chaos Dwarfs are coming to AOS that only leaves Ogres

>>95978693Characters bring born somewhere is nothing new. Vandus is from Aqshy. Katakross is from Ghur. Olynder is from Shyish.
>>95978396My personal copium is that we will get an ogre refresh down the line, so they can rerelease the old stuff for tow. Thundertusks etc are still too new but the old bulls stuff should be easy enough to remake. It's really just a single kit for bulls and then two upgrade sprues for ironguts and leadbelchers.
>>95978693I don't understand what you mean anon, basically all named characters and canonically native to a certain realm, tahlia to aqshy, skragrott to chamon, most orks to ghur, etc...

Another non-binary character. That's neat, I thought Britain had just made that illegal.
>>95978744Literally zero TOW leakers are talking about more legacy armies. They're hinting at new armies and new release waves for existing armies. If it happens at all it's years away still.
>>95978268I just looked again and I'd forgotten how putrid that snarlpack and snarlfang warscoll is, jesus.
>>95978744>Thundertusks etc are still too newuh not really.
>>95978769That makes sense. After the success of Cathay it's pretty clear that new armies are what get people interested in the game. Both new players and people who do play TOW but it's not their main game got energized by Cathay.
At the same time, for the long term health of the game they need to give plenty of time to the existing armies, fill holes in their ranges and add new stuff that makes people want to start that army instead of just dusting off their old ones.
Bringing in legacy armies would be nice but the existing rules are good enough for people to dust off their old armies. It makes sense to wait to bring them back properly until the game is in a more stable place and all the existing armies have most of what they need.
But getting back to AoS, Aelf.
>>95978434Unfortunately I'm committed to another army now. I don't think I'll ever actually play these Snarlfangs even if I did get the fifth one painted for some reason.
>>95978798crap like cathay literally only appeals to oldfags who are bored as fuck with 40 years of the same armies, its the complete opposite.
>>95978839Could probably play underworlds or Warcry with them
>>95978769>Literally zero TOW leakers are talking about more legacy armies.Because it's something that everyone gives for granted by TOW2.0, and because we don't have many leakers anyway, for example we would have been speculating about cathay's cancellation up until its reveal video if it wasn't for whitefang and valrak, and they only get info about new models, not about products changing game system.
>>95978843the oldfags hate cathay. cathay appeals to AoS players and TWW secondaries.
>>95978873>and because we don't have many leakers anyway,Factually untrue, they just hang out in different places instead of TGA like the AoS leakers. Just because YOU don't know about the leaks doesn't mean they aren't out there.
>>95978895Are the tow leakers in your walls right now? Or are you speaking about hypothetical dark leakers that go unheard when they drop rumors in the forest?

Conclusion: Mathaela is a non-binary character

>>95980152>>95980160Probably October if the Kislev December rumours are true. I doubt GW would launch Chorfs and Kislev in the same month when Chorfs can also be used in ToW
>I hate all this woke shit!
>Anyway, I pre-ordered it to support GW
>>95980154They're gonna look like dwarwes with spikes and other chaos shit attached to them
>>95980230I am convinced that the creatives at GW hate AoS but arenโt allowed to kill the setting because of suits so they everything they can to humiliate its player base.
>>95980192We know from the lore that there are lots of Isharann Soulscryers.
>>95980242Any delusional cope you can think of to avoid developing a shred of integrity or conviction huh
>>95980242Creatives as in studio leads or people writing the fluff or who? Because I think that at least on the miniatures front Sigmar has had much more interestingly designed miniatures than 40K for many years.
>>95980154>I'm curious to see what they look like, at leastHorns of hashut but short, fat and hairy
>>95980257Not the sculptors no. Iโm talking about senior creatives. Stuff like beasts being ripped away from AoS was allegedly thanks to veteran staff supporting tow over AoS. I would not be surprised if they were the same people pushing the brown woman KO covers or the tranny IDK.
>>95980270Touch grass man
>>95980257Yeah, if anything AoS has the most creativity poured into it of any of GW's settings. 40K just cranks out Marines and Marine accessories on autopilot and the lore sucks balls. HH is just 40K but sucking off Space Marines even harder, and TOW is 90% Nostalgia Bait. AoS at least attempts to do something different once in a while.
>>95980270Leaks said veteran stuff shat on the beastmen molds while drunk during the Christmas office party and instead of cleaning they threw in the dirty metal into the tOw office
>>95980270Please develop stronger relationships with people in real life
>>95980282Thatโs true. No other GW setting is creative enough to include trannies and brown dwarf women on their covers.
>>95980421Wait till you see votann.
>>9598042140k is worse, unironically.
>>95980270>tranny IDK>source: nonetouch grass anon
>>95980141No, they didn't.
>no special edition IDK battletome
...The whales have abandoned AoS, haven't they?
Man the KO cover really mindbroke the local shitposter didn't it
she doesn't even look brown to me honestly
>>95980590>sheโs not even brown>calling others mindbrokenSad!
>>95980595Nta but sheโs really not. If she is then weโre counting Greeks brown too.
>>95980616> Lmaoooooooooo
>>95980616>If she is then weโre counting Greeks brown too.anon...
Ok be honest with me.
Is the 21 Battlemages list fun?
>>95980616I don't think they'd make negroid dwarfs, so it's as close as they can get. I think it'd wend towards cultural appropriation or come across as a parody to have duardin with afros. Aelves and Duardin aren't white, they're another species so human phenotypes aren't compatible
Maybe Squats have them though idk
my kharadron hail from lustria and hitched a ride on Seraphon ships from the world that was
>>95980757Weren't pygmies aliens or some other crazy shit back in the old ""lore""
>>95980726>Aelves and Duardin aren't white, they're another species so human phenotypes aren't compatibleThat's a good point, dark skinned Duardin aren't "black" in the way dark-skinned humans are black. It's like looking at a bay horse and calling that DEI.
>>95980859wtf is this cope the pic you linked literally has an ashy nigga lodge
>>95980859Nothing is ever going to make the basic fyreslayers look good but it's crazy how much you can improve on them by picking literally anything but the standard colour scheme
Also I didn't see anyone talk about this yet on here but according to some guy* on tga chorfs are going to be called 'Hellforged of Hashut' which sounds....eh? It fits the [followers] of [chaos god] template they've got but it also sounds a tad boring.
*it's not either of the whitefangs, guy named nezzhil. I don't know enough about tga to know just how trustworthy he is but the people over there seem to take him relatively seriously at least. Take with a grain of salt.
>>95980892Uncultured anon think black/tanned skin= afro people hahaha. Weak ass faggot with smooth brain
>>95980986#ashylarrylivesmatter
>>95980757THE GAME WORKSHOP ERA WHERE HE WASN'T AFRAID TO SHOW HIS BELIEFS
Do you think that one day Game Workshop will become super inclusive and start creating things like this?
>>95981378We are already halfway there
>>95981378looking at the old world, and 40k, never mind aos, probably.
>>95981378>>95981396I'm hoping with the backlash against the hyper woke now that everyone realises it's only a very small group who actually wants this, GW can move away from it.
But they seem to be a few years behind general culture, so either we still have a few years of it to go, or, they can hopefully just adjust and pivot the stuff that's coming out.
The KO tome cover suggests they haven't cottoned on just yet though.
>>95981473Editions take time to develop, that volume was surely developed during the rainbow era, future ones will surely be free of those things or maybe not, we'll see.
Idoneth rules previews next week then? Are we finally going to see what they are replacing the tides mechanics with?
>>95981672I didn't know we'd have new Slaanesh stuff.
Prices are up, nothing too unreasonable this time, the Incarnate is cheaper than the battletome.
NEW THREAD
>>95981845>>95981845>>95981845maybe this one can get to the end without a discussion of the appropriate skin tones for Duardun
