Ashling is one of the best designed commanders I've ever played. Her ability is themed around a raging fire, and it really feels like that playing her. You either keep stoking the flames, burning everything and everyone...ooooor you burn out.
I thinking mana storing is not really what she's for, and if you try someone will probably pop her because banking red mana is scary.

And Rowan I built because I like Eldraine and didn't have a Rakdos commander. She's probably my least favorite because she's so formulaic. On paper it sounds neat like getting to take advantage of all those black life loss cards and turn it into fuel for destruction, but I found that basically no matter what the game state is every turn is

She is completely busted value for a 2 drop, but it's simic so what do you expect? I haven't built a powerful deck with it, but a lot of people who play higher power level than me assume she's kill-on-sight.
She usually only flops if she keeps getting removed. If she's allowed to build a board presence it gets silly.

Run her purely as faerie tribal. The goad is more useful than you'd think. Dimir control is effective. Good middle of the road commander. Decent but hard to do anything too powerful with.

Yeah lack of protection is rough, I don't run deflects, but I think I'm lucky because my pod usually lets me have her. Honestly I think they know by now that I don't run perfectly optimized decks so even if she's around for a few turns my pay offs won't be game-ending.
I only run exactly 1 storm card in that deck for example.

Yeah popping off on someone else's turn is nice. Do note though that trigger 2 and 3 are once per turn, but the draw-discard always happens. I think that's my only tiny gripe with her. It is thematic that she literally burns through your deck, but at the same time casting/copying more than 3 times a turn feels almost punishing.

Technically he is an elder dragon, but I'm not sure if it counts. Also features all the other Bolas' except for the deceiver plus all three Ugins. It's surprisingly strong even if the average cmc is pretty high. But having one of the big Bolas on the field unthreatened is incredibly satisfying. Multiple and you're quickly in a winning position.

I only have Marisi, but it's a fun mechanic in not so high powered games. Basically you can say "not my problem" to various threats. Weak commanders kill themselves, big threats like Progenitus and Eldrazi go elsewhere. Ensuring you stay on top of things is a bit difficult though.

In principle it's effectively the same as before. Not much really to worry about there. You'll probably see it brought up as much as you saw power levels before in your area.
