How would you make Kamandora’s Blades look good?

Honestly just bloody that paint job up a little bit.

They look like they're supposed to be cannibal with Barakka styled mouths giving big Raider Ghoul energy but that point job has them looking fresh out of a spa-day. These guys look like they should be Mini-Gorgers and should have been painted as such, pale, filthy, bloody cannibals.

going to be joining my LGS's necromunda campaign, never played it before
how hard are enforcers to play? they seem like the thematically coolest "gang" to me, but if they're too much for a new player I'll pick something simpler. I've played plenty of skirmish wargames before

Enforcers are expensive, have mediocre stat and severe limitation, making them strong early but fell off mid and late campaign. This is intended, they play the supporting role as pest to disrupt the other gangs, not to win.

You can just play Venator using Enforcer models, Venator used any models you like and had good stats. as well as variety of models to chose from, you can even use arbites models.

Outcasts are pure meme and poor man version of Venator except for Mutant outcast. They have a strong leader but the rest of the gang are garbage. The unique trait of an outcast gang is that they got partial refund when leader die, this to encourage outcast players to play aggressively with their leader.

Small scale game like LI, Epic, or Epic Armageddon use a more macro rule set so you don't have to spend 12 hours to play 1 game, GW made "Armageddon" in 2021 that also use a faster macro rule, but it's poorly written making gretchin the strongest unit in the game.

TL;DR you can play the normal 40k game with smol models, just divide the range by 3, but it's a waste of time, and you have to remove individual tiny troops in fight.

If you just want to play the same model count army on a smaller board, yes. If you want more models, not really, as 40k has a lot of slow and tedious rules if you just add more models. 2000pt is already kind of overwhelming for beginners.
Determining true line of sight is also awkward at smaller scale, so you might want to change it.

I’m the anon who posted the Li models. I also have a 10mm scale Night Lords army in the works to play “normal” Horus Heresy with. I plan on using the 28mm scale ruleset, and not change a thing… not changing ranges, anything. At 10mm scale, the weapon ranges will still work, will arguably be more “realistic.”

Main reason is for the cost. I can’t find anyone in my area to play HH, and I’m not going to invest in another 28mm scale HH army. 10mm scale I can print everything for peanuts.

Good points. When I started my adventure with 40k in late 2nd ed we used to play outside on a rly big board, something like 9x9'. It was actually more balanced that way because all movement rules like infiltration and DS were actually doing stuff like in fluff and you could rly outflank your enemy position.

Yea, it was on the ground level. Most of our terrain were old books, cans and whatever we could find and make out of bushes ect.
I remember our first game there where my basilisk with 92" range could not shoot from deployment to deployment zone and I had to move damn thing first time ever. We were also very impressed by our friend Eldar force, because he could grab objectives turn one instead like the rest of us by turn 3.

Also worth noting, 4+ Scarce is better than 6+ normal - the former, if you run out you're out but you've got a 50/50 chance of not running out in the first place. The latter, if you run out it takes an average of three full activations to reload and you've got a five-in-six chance of running out. I'd rather know I gotta go to my backup right away than always have that nagging "maybe the relaod will work this time" feeling in the back of my head, but that might just be me.

Doubtful we've come far enough to already see another wave of Tomb Kings releases in TOW, so I'm taking it has a confirmation of Khemri for Blood Bowl finally. Which is somewhat at odds with the persistent rumors of a new BB edition this autumn, unless we are only getting a rulebook update and no new starter set, or Khemri is half of the starter set which is not consistent with the rumors so far.

The lack of special ammo on the grenade launcher is not a big deal, frag is what you want to fire 99% of the time anyway.

You can buy ammo caches or hire an ammo-jack if you want to ameliorate the issues with your scarce guns on your gangers. There's another benefit of running badzone enforcers, too - you aren't forced to buy all your gangers flak armor, and they still come with armored undersuits, so every can have mesh + undersuit for a 4+ save out the gate.

Let me know if you have any questions about how to build them, depending on what campaign you want to play. Badzone is definitely the way to go.

Badzone enforcer are enforcer who don't have access to the constant supply lines from their precinct, and had more supply from the black market, hence why they had power knife and plasma pistol.

Before you ask "Why didn't they have this weapon, or the basic weapon, or the combat shotgun that didn't have scarce?" This is a homebrew by the guy from the Studio, and he just put in whatever he need to play his own gang. It's not that deep. And Badzones were published in the 2022 WD, while the Automata were in 2023.

And brutes have this rule:

IMO the best place for your concussion carbine is on your captain; give him the Got Your Six skill and he plays amazing defense against melee gangs. You can buy him a shield and a melee weapon later.

They can be, but the first two hangers-on you want to get are almost certainly the Rogue Doc and/or Ammo-jack. Rogue Doc is a literal lifesaver for your gang and the Ammo-jack helps to ameliorate your gang's major weakness.

Connected Trader is really cool and I'd suggest getting it later in a campaign once you've got a good stockpile of equipment/cash.

Not at all. We recently finished going through all three campaigns. We ended up going with +250 to crew rating if a dramatis joins, and if one side is ever the underdog (+400c down) they don't get to pick bonuses but instead automatically get a dramatis and the other side doesn't. This worked out fine enough. Cinderak is not a good example of this as gang ratings are inflated and scenarios are low numbers, so if people aren't planning their gangs right there can be wild disparities between ratings.

Flamer is pretty much auto-include in all upgrade kits except Nomad, even though 90% of people won't have use for them, outside of meme, because designers are morons. At least they didn't take a fucking piss this time and give you a matching left-right pair of hand flamer like the Squat upgrade.

Also welcome to Necromunda, designers don't play game, new kits come out with shitty weapon options is the norm. Van Saar has 4 kits and all we got is more lasgun/lascarbine and shitty rad gun, while Van Saar upgrade kit got flamer spam up the ass, meanwhile lascannon and combi las/plasma are still resin.

Pretty much only Orlock has the perfect upgrade kit.

Like, default access to power swords and plasma pistols for the captain can actually make for decent countercharging melee build, power knives for everyone is certainly nice and the addition of a webber is going to cause some headaches, but a good chunk of the rest leaves me scratching my head. There is some marginal use for more sniper rifles and concussion carbines and I can appreciate the addition of flamers and autoguns as a novelty even if I don't see any reason to ever use them – but more autopistols? Am thinking of making 2 Escher gangs on different themes.

Malstrain on their own are a meme even in their own campaign.
Corrupted ones are still a meme, but now have access to cheap Hive scum. The genestealer being a brute kind of limites their use and the tick are not that great at least not compared to other pet bullshit like the van saar spider or the gsc familiar of avoiding damage.
Turning a leader into a psyker whenever is nice though.
In other words they are not very fun or interesting, but not horrible.
With cawdor it literally just removes the gang mechanic and adds nothing of value though

Both are widespread but they got crushed by the Clan House and Helmawr eventually, leading to nothing burger. GSC got completely quarantined inside Secundus, and the one outside of Secundus are too retarded to make a new Patriarch, leaving them very weak and pathetic.

Secundus become a hunting ground for Helmawr kids in Spyrer suits to go and kill some jeanstealer for the lulz, while the fools that accompany these rich kids go scramble for lost archeotechs.

Helmawr got mortally wound in recent plot by a hybrid Eversor-Callidus Assassin from an unknown mastermind. Some old rival house of Helmawr rise up and try to take over, driven out Haera the She-bitch successor of Necromunda to Secundus, coincidentally she found the long lost super spyrer suits that magically fit her even though in the lore it said each suit is tailor made for individual, and her brother just help her get the super suit because reason, and now she's Haera the super bitch, that's pretty much the reason for this entire plot point. Truly cinematic writing 9/11.

Here's the way, I understand it.

There are a lot of Italians, Irish, and Jews in 1920s New York. These people see
themselves, and each other, as separate ethnic communities, with a decent amount of ethnic solidarity. They occupy recognizable ethnic strongholds in their neighborhoods, and gravitate toward specific industries ( "Lots of Irish work the docks, the Italians run the trucking, the Jews got a lock on shipping", etc.)

These ethnic communities spawn groups of tough, criminal minded gangs that may exploit their local communities, but also feel a lot of ethnic solidarity to that community. These guys fight for power over criminal industries and tend to expand ethnic territory while doing so. ("The Bonnanno Crime family bombed a few select Irish pubs, and now they run the heroin trade on the docks. That area is almost entirely Italian now.")

These gangs also have some backroom relationships with the politicians and elite of their communities, being used by them for dirty work, and using them in turn.

Read that, then replace Itish, Italian, Jewish, with Orlock, Delaque, Van Saar, etc. as you wish. Any TV crime drama is showing essentially the same dynamic as the balance between Clan, Gang and Noble Houses on Necromunda.

Yes they do, gangs have always been used by political groups to rig elections and exert influence amongst the lower classes, and necromunda lore is pretty clear that the gangs are used to increase the house clans political influence. On top of that not all gangs are urban, biker gangs often operate out of small towns and isolated rural areas, same with the Dixie Mafia. Controlling areas of the wastelands means a gang can control the trade routes between hives which would bring in a lot of money and influence

How's Hive Secundus as a one off game experience for someone who's never played Necromunda?

You mean the Secundus box? It's a self contained game mode reminiscent of the old GW "versus box game" but with Necromunda rule. You get what you need, and the kits didn't give much options, so one-off is pretty much what you'll be playing, the board look a bit....sad, it's empty with not much terrain or cardboard. and 2 folded paper mats. Compared to the old GW versus box games, you got truck load of cardboard pieces to arrange multiple map layouts.

Also if you want to make a leap into playing the actual Necromunda game, the one you got in the Secundus box suck. since they had almost no options, and the one they had weren't good either.

Only thing you can add from book of desolation is changing the Orrus to other Spyrers. The Campaign from Book of Desolation is very different from one in Hive Secundus, it's a gangs vs gangs campaign with the Genestealer joining the fight randomly and being controlled by both players.

Secundus box is gang vs genestealer endurance campaign, the gang will try to keep their dudes alive and upgrade, while the Genestealer will try to wear them down. Genestealers are pretty much playable NPC faction, they have unlimited resource, respawn, and no upgrade.

After all the horrible Horus Heresy news the last few days it was nice to see something pretty sweet revealed today.

I stole the ui off the rogue trader game, modified it a little and used some layer blending and an old fan made map of Armageddon. Drew up some layer lines once I’d placed all the factions and made it easily updateable for conquest regions via a transparent layer, so really I just have to type a few words, update the strategic points and use the colour picker tool then paste on a factions currently controlled zone.
Crusades neat, but it suffers from 2 things. Too much progression, and core 10th Ed balance being stacked towards excessive amounts of lethality only countered by as many 4++ and overlayed fnp as you can.

This was some cool scenario where the chaos gate had 4 markers around it and fried synapse nids were emerging out of the portal attacking everything nearby.

Narratively I figured a lone hive ship got swept towards Armageddon towards warp storms, got messed up and destroyed but not before depositing an invasion payload. Hive ship death killed most of the forces on the planet and now there is just a few synapse capable left.

The coolest part about all of this is my buddy and I are going to re-enact this in bfg. And even if I win the planetary invasion scenario he’s going to get 500p of reinforcements to ensure the death of the hive. Should be sick, I expect lots of low orbit scrums.

They're from Aranthian Succession - Vault of Temenos, so I don't blame you, but yeah. Statline is 8"/24", -1 to hit at long, S5, AP-3, D2, Ammo 6+, Rapid Fire (1), Scarce, Sever, Unstable. Dudes with 'em are Subjugator Champions with one better BS and one worse Int, as well as the Overwatch and Fearsome skills. Pretty solid overall, but not someone I'd want to take as an Outcast Delegation gang, for example.

You should be worrying more about Unstable than ammo roll, and for Unstable it's mostly ok for them, because they're alliance units, they're expendable. Even when they had no weapon and somehow didn't die they can still take a hit for your guy.

Unlike unstable, running out of ammo is an accepted risk and part of the game, the probability is low unless Rapid Fire (2+), spending your action reloading weapons is generally not the best idea, and you still get your shot off before you ran out. This is why Plasma is considered top tier depite having scarce and bad ammo roll.

However there're a few counter play that do target ammo roll, like Weapon Jynx, Nomad Spirit, "Click!". If this is a common play in your group then bring ammo cache, ammo jack, savant skill, or just use different weapon/unit.

Necromunda rules are so bloated and convoluted that without the work of autist compiler on the internet, game wouldn't last that long. You have several books + several white dwarf + several other free apocrypha article with 0 index or catalog to find. All of those apocrypha had very fancy names that didn't tell you wtf was in it.

The fuckest thing exclusively to Necromunda is the FAQ is in image pdf format, so you can't even search the fucking thing to find what changed, thanks fuck for rule compiler.
