they should have been in the extra deck.

they are in Rush Duels

It was a different time. There was no "Extra Deck," just a Fusion Deck. Though, putting them in the Extra Deck now would actually do a lot for them (despite making some older cards actually obsolete).

That'd kill megaliths since they use their own ritual monsters as their summoners for their ritual monsters.

What would actually be the balancing mechanism for them then? You still need to draw the spell which would effectively just be the ritual card and with the tributes its essentially no different than a monster that has a free special summon if you have enough tributes.

>combo that takes you 10 minutes to setup your board for an OTK
>balanced

>unbalanced

Yeah, I suppose that's also true. Main point being that "if it had been this way all along" it really would have just been cleaner, but there's a reason why they don't just commit to changing it. Some card errata aside, they really do a surprising amount of keeping various things in the game relevant instead of just outright trampling them into uselessness.

I fucking love nouvelles and how much of a reading check they are. The fact that they support hungry burger is just sesame seeds on the bun.

I know yugioh has never really had the best card to card balance, and modern ygo has pretty much thrown balance out the window. But the summoning mechanics themselves have always had balance to them. Even link monsters which are supposed to be the most generic have the cost of needing arrows to point to them, plus the downside of being unable to go into rituals, synchros, or xyz under normal circumstances.

If they did this more often, or have their effects only activate with the appropriate amount of linked spaces, I'd have agreed

Honestly I kinda hate that. Like you still have this normal ass dark magician and blue eyes still being needed in decks when they could have just made some card called dark magician that has an effect. The game really would have been better off rebooting itself every generation (you can still retrain and keep popular designs) and just having every era end with a certain vibe that could easily be used for permanent formatting but no. Every deck has to become irrelevant eventually until some designer wakes up one day wanted to revitalize your mechanic.

well at least the intention was there
lets not pretend they didn't break ritual monsters or the others chaos angel may as well not be a synchro monster

Don't worry, I'm under no illusions the game wasn't broken from day one. Links were just the end times of this shit.

I thought this thread was about monsters summoned via ritual in rpgs. But it was actually yugioh. Carry on

>the other player cannot Special Summon while that Ritual Summoned monster is face-up on the field.
I'm guessing that is why he is banned

Correct. But not because it is overpowered. Just because konami doesn't want it to break their forced meta cards.
