next time you play, think about being an elf with elven accuracy or getting some other source of improved criticals. smite damage is damage from the attack, so those get doubled by a critical hit too!

warlock is dead simple, but if you play like any other caster you'll have a bad time
>your spells are big and come back fast, but you only get two and you probably need them both to win fights, so the name of the game is efficiency
>use invocations to replace spells you would use all the time (mage armour, false life, magic eyes, or buff your blasts if you dont want combat spells)
>you cant cast every turn, so your combat spells need to be efficient (armour of agathys, bless/bane, summon demon, mirror image, ect). dont fall for trap options that just do mid damage once, you have better ways to chip and poke
>you've got eldritch blast, its arguably the best cantrip in the game
>dont want that? build dex and eldritch weapon, you can use longbows or rapiers for damage instead and they're magic for free
>if you pick E-smite and wait for a crit you can nuke bosses with a bit of luck

oh and people say chain sucks, but they dont know the variant imps from the monster manual can share their damage resistance
