>Previous Thread:>>96021994>Thread Question:What are you hoping is revealed for Fantasy during the summer preview on the 18th?
>>96033230 (OP)More Tomb Kings. At least an AoI and one new model. Character would be fine, but a new unit (or refreshed old one) would be ideal.
>>96033230 (OP)>TQAnything really just happy Fantasy is back
>>96033162>>96033148Thx, I'll probbaly avoid those lots unless criminally cheap. One more question is the Slann now unable to join temple guard? It looks like based on the temple guard rules it's supposed to function as Slann hovers near but not directly in the unit.
>>96033278The Slann does not join units. However, there are community rules that are largely accepted that corrects that and many other fundamental issues that legacy factions deal with.
Google Old World renegade rules and you'll find them. It's fine if you don't use them but it's kind of like turning down water in a desert
In TOW, is a Bloodthirster still something to be feared or does it just go pop if you launch it at an infantry block?
>>96033230 (OP)>TQIt's going to be Dogs of War, but as for what I would want that to constitute, I'm not sure.
Some new plastic kits and an MTO of the old Perry models as well would be my high mark, I don't think GW will reach at minimum. I'm just going to expect an AJ with some mercenaries options and campaign rules, since GW themselves said that was coming down the line in the core rulebook at the bare minimum.
Iโm designing a Tilean city based on Albania. Does anyone have any cool looking Albanian or Balkan models?
>>96033324The changes to infantry is an issue for it. Impetuous forces it to potentially make charges that would leave it unsupported.
Now that it has to make a ldship test it is more reliable but you would be better served killing cavalry then just slapping a bunch of 5-12 point infantry.
>>96033333The only thing I know about Albania is that king zog smoked an insane amount of cigarettes daily. Something like 200 cigs a day.
>>96033326No cap if itโs dogs of war Iโm going to coom. I have been holding out buying Cathay in hopes of Kislev but Dogs of War would be an army I would start 100%. I love that part of the Warhammer world.
>>96033308>Old World renegade rulesthanks anon, yeah it looks actually not a power wank retarded fan patch so to speak. appreciate it!
>>96033230 (OP)dogs of war is the most I can realistically hope for and even that is reaching if one were to include almost everything
>estalian pavise regiments >estalian armored pikemen >estalian conquistadors >estalian duelists >galloping guns >tilean crossbowmen >tilean crested pikemen>tilean leopard companies>tilean birdmen>marienburg manann blades>marienburg landship (retconned to fit)>halfling archers with hot pot>dwarf slayer pirates>arabyan desert raiders>kruegar cursed company>marco colombo (long life potion)>paymaster with chest (ex mydas)>paymaster on horse (ex lietpold)>mercenary ogre (from mordheim)>mercenary general on horse>mercenary spymistress on horse (ex lucrezia)>sartosan vampire pirate with thrall>sartosan pirate captainwith one army of infamy to represent pirates, losing access to many units while gaining access to some stuff you have to convert from free militia and various blackpowder units.
Dogs of war fags are even more annoying than Arabyfags
>>96033462Dogs of war is cool and very Warhammer fantasy. Araby is a distinct concept like Cathay was. Read gotrek and felix.
>>96033474Lorebeards just had an episode on Araby
>>96033489Is that supposed to mean something?
>>96033489Araby is hopefully never coming to tow because the Anglo faggots at GW would completely sanitize it like Cathay to avoid insulting non white peoples with anything less than a fellating depiction.
>>96033326I fucking hate the Dogs of War because its just a hodgepodge faction that makes me wish actual money was invest into its components to make proper factions.
Amazons? Get fucked.
Albion? Too bad.
Halflings? Lmao.
>>96033462I think Araby would be neat, provided they didn't give it the agitprop treatment like they did with Cathay.
>>96033489How about we flog people who call fluff lore and "loretubers" especially.
image

๐
I donโt care for human factions.
>>96033489Correction: andy law had a spergout about crusaders being good guys.
>>96033541Should they be called fluffybeards then?
>>96033547They were never the good guys when some of them became literal cannibal mutants.
It was a normal war, the Bretonnian's spun it to make themselves look good, and the Arabyans can do the same.
>>96033522Cathay is a tyrannical police state with state-enforced atheism ruled by racist dragons who think themselves superior to humans and are openly genocidial towards the ogres but they have bad points as well. And itโs still better than letting the little slant-eyed savages govern themselves.
>>96033544fantasy would be a really generic shit setting without them.
>>96033580the arabayans were evil invaders led by an evil chaos sorcerer while the crusaders were liberators and chaos slayers.
it's not deep.
>>96033589Its becoming a generic setting because of them rather i'd say. Cathay just makes it worse.
>>96033585Thatโs total war Cathay, now GW old world Cathay.
>>96033604>this is what bretfags actually believeOut of both regiments of renown to come out of the crusades one was cannibal chaos worshippers formerly crusaders, the other are insane zealots that were driven out by the locals with force of arms because they'd periodically start killing people unprovoked and are referred to as foaming at the mouth.
They're not the good guys, and never have been.
>>96033462>>96033539Tasteless plebeians, potentially Reddit-browsing autogynephiles too.
>>96033747You're conveniently ignoring the knights that represented the bulk of the crusading forces and spawned multiple orders of good guys.
>>96033345Fair. I suppose I am asking is cause I got a Skarbrand and Herald mini so could prospectively make a 1500 Khorne army.
Just wondering if the Bloodthirster is as inclined to go POP as a Daemon Prince from WoC. If it is good at slaughtering infantry I'd be happy to go all in.
>>96033767Many knightly orders aren't good, but I wouldn't call them evil either. They're a bunch of nobles and thankfully more focused on the dangers of their own land.
Except the knights panther, they still have a bone to pick with the region even though none have been there in centuries.
>>96033791>Many knightly orders aren't goodYes, they are.
>>96033489And why do we care about those two again?
>>96033824The mould destroyed itself in intense self hatred
>>96033791>Many knightly orders aren't good,such as?
The Knights Panther are racist, but that's the closest to any of the Empire orders being bad or evil in any way.
>>96033824isnt this just a chimera? Seems pretty redundant. The incarnate should be announced not that.
>>96033833Andy Law helped write Warhammer as we know it. He may be a massive faggot and a symptom of the decline and cuckification of the Scottish people, but he still knows his warhammer
>>96033855arenโt a lot of them secretly chaos cults or vampire fronts?
>>96033864>Andy Law helped write Warhammer as we know it.i don't see it, he was one of the writers for the Kislev book for WFRP2e and he did a bunch of maps for that edition as well but that kinda the height he reached to for influencing the lore, even his WFRP4e stuff is mostly irellivent since he "Quit" C7 so early into that editions release.
>>96033345I doubt the changes to infantry are going to make much of a difference unless it has great weapons or something similar, another ranks worth of spears or hand weapons changes very little from a combat res perspective. You need like at least 28 attacks to get just one wound without a strength or ap bonus no matter what the infantry statline is
>>96033855The blood dragons were originally a knightly orders of the empire
>>96033860
>>96033892No, unless you have some evidence of that to back up your statement.
>>96033947what do some bald fucks have to do with the preyton or the incarnate
Done with another character for my warband "The brotherhood of the black sigil". Now though I think I need to paint up 20 more warriors with red chaos stars on their shields to match this guy
>>96033860>isnt this just a chimera?No, why do you think it's a chimera?
>>96033989Looks pretty dope Anon, whats the story/lore behind your dudes?
>>96033989Looks mint man. Love the black and red
>>96033585Sorry gweilo but dragons don't force human to love them.
>>96033989protip: if you make the red star painted in the blood of your enemy you can have fun without needing the stars to be neat, clean and precise.
>>96033906Sylvania Map 8th Edition
>>96034046what what happens in Crippletown
>>96034060They used to be a friendly people, always willing to lend a hand, it led to their ruin.
>>96034011It's a warband that was created by a chaos champion named "Throkkar Blackthorn" who was actually chosen by my mage "Saefrith Coldthorn"
The Sigil was stolen as a relic in the imperial city of Krugenheim and that's where the name comes from.
Pic related is my warriors and character so far. Currently working on additional 20 chaos warriors with halberds and after them I have 10 cavalry and at the end of the month I'll be receiving 40 3d printed marauders to work on.
>>9603409110/10 would fight against or alongside your dudes on the battlefield in the name of the ruinous powers
>>96034046gotta be honest here the rot with AoS map hellscapes started in 8th.
>>96034091you know, even though we all know they come from the north, its rare to see snow basing for WoC. But man, does it look good. Well done anon.
>>96034112>mfw the shining hog runs by
>>96034026>give humans anime waifus>They love you unconditionallyAmazing.
I know that THE OLD WORLD has made changes to the lore, such as that there are now female knights in Bretonnia. What other changes has the old world made?
>>96034112>>96034121Thanks anons. Yeah I wanted to give them the feel of coming out of a blizzard upon the empire so snow bases and a more "colder" look was aways the idea.
Also, my army will be played very sparsely, I'm more building and painting something that fits the lore and there its very seldom dragons and shit involved. Instead I will have lots of infantry, some cavalry and wagons and I'll also in the future add beastmen as a meatshield.
>>96033782Just be careful of what you are charging
A lot of infantry have at least 6 combat res but get a BSB in there and it can go higher
>>96033922It won't die outside of an Empire/Skaven brick with multiple banners and some bad rolls, but it accomplishes very little to put it into something it'll never break.
Can they finally release this as a TOW supplement?
>>96034166They actually did a almanak on how you, yes you specifically, are no longer welcome and that many lore changes you held dear have been strategically tweaked for maximum tears.
>fr there's some mis matches in the empire like marienburg not being a swampy little town, Cathay being shoehorned in as always being big, and several elfs not really prominent atm. But it's so far mostly minor stuff.
>>96034211most definitely not, that was about the battle for black fire pass during karl's reign, and I doubt any of the minis were actually close to being finished or we would have seen them in the games days.
>>96034166Find the idea of there being female bretonnian knights kind of silly (i know there's a Joan of Arc rip off but this is the old world) when you look into bretonnian's setting and what it's society is with women
DESU I like they would be better in the Empire, a all female knightly order of second or third born daughters and bastards would of work better and come off as more acceptable than with the bloody Bretonnians
>>96034203I suppose what I am asking is: Is a BT decent? Cause on paper it seems vicious. Also aplarentky it reduces its instability wounds by 2 which seems better than DP.
Js the BT better than a DP at mulching infantry?
BATTLE BROTHERS FIGHTING TO THE END
GW nerfed the Ogre Blade. Are they ever going to address how useless some of the others are?
>>960342311st was Sigmar, and 3rd was Karl Franz, but when did the 2nd Battle of Blackfire pass occur?
>>96033547What did Andy Law write again?
>>96034431Gorbad Ironclaw Warrgh or Groms
>>96034259NO MATTER WHAT THE NEW LORE SAYS, FOR ME THIS WOMAN WILL ALWAYS BE THE FIRST AND LAST FEMALE KNIGHT OF BRETONIA
>>96034481Nothing said she was the only female knight, you're just a secondary making presumptions
Paint on Primer is easy and convenient to use
>>96033042Late response but yes, Saurus are still good. Even better with the sword-and-board buff to armour saves.
Skinks don't have bows and regular skinks are pretty bad because skirmishers no longer have the in-built -1 to be hit by ranged attacks just for being skirmishers so with their T2 they die to a stiff breeze.
Unfortunately, skink cohorts are dead and Kroxigor aren't very good, either. If Krox got their 4+ armour back they'd be good. 5+ is just not nearly enough.
>>960344811st and last I don't entirely agree with that.
but CUTEST female knight, absolutely.
Finally found a base theme I can live with for my meadowglade speed paint glade guard. Just to do 13 more and then I finally have a decent "squad" fully painted
> then it dawned after swapping 1 unit of 14 to 2x 8 man squads in 2 games that I'll want 16 painted gladeguard, not 14 glade guard.
It never ends this ride...ugh. I'll never get back to my maidenguard.
>>96034761>skirmishers no longer have the in-built -1 to be hit by ranged attacksHuh? Is this a brand new change I didn't see in the FAQ?
>>96034808Well fuck me, I was wrong. I missed that in the core book. They do have that in-built -1.
Well now they'll live just a little bit longer.
>>96034830Skinks aren't as good because poison was nerfed bigly
>>96034830Iโm pretty sure you tried giving me a heart attack there
>>96034842Oh wait, you're right. Poison was indeed nerfed fucking hard in the FAQ.
No more auto-wounds, just +2 to the wound roll if it was a 6 to-hit.
A stupid change that makes shit harder to track.
>>96034842Really sad too, since Skinks were one of the only non-shit units Lizards had.
>>96034893Everyone uses the renegade pack for legacy armies anyhow.
>highlands miniatures telegram group got nuked
noooooo
anyone have the gallia files? willing to trade eternal dynasties, sunland, or dwarf stuff
Seeing the changes that the old world has made to the lore, don't be surprised if the ridiculous things that appear in this image become canon in the future.
>>96035277>new world half naked Amazon babe army, with laser guns and mercenary vampire cutiesI want it! Don't tempt me like this!
>>96035277So Lusria is based in southern Mexico, isn't it?
>>96035277Anon las guns being in whf wouldn't be anything new
>>96035403Nah, it's South America so Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Uruguay, Paraguay, Chile, and Argentina.
Makes me think the Amazons rear Guinea pigs as cattle like real Andeans. I wanna try it one day.
>>96035277>>96035403Who is the artist of these?
>>96035455search for it as a20t43c, no joke, that's what it's called
In a universe where the civilization of the races is inverted, I present to you the imperial goblins.
>when the Ogres began to war with the Sky Titans the Dragon Emperor shared the secret of black powder with the Sky Titans due to them also having roamed the world before the Old Ones
>the Ogreโs were winning anyways and began to renew their attacks on Cathay
>outright stated that Cathayโs Astromancers were the ones that brought down the warpstone meteorite to stop the Ogreโs attacks
>the Ogreโs were driven to the Mountains of Mourn, where they found and slaughtered the last of the Sky Titans
>stole their weapons and took the secret of black powder for themselves
>the meteorite became The Great Maw and granted the Ogreโs a form of magic
They had a rough time going about it, but this seems like it was a total win for the Ogreโs in the long term. Though I suppose from Cathayโs perspective theyโre someone else's problem now.
>>96035667Ogres really are lame
>>96035667Why is Cathay behind so much shit in the world now
>>96034091How do you do the snow anon? Mine ends up a bit thick.
>>96035667>>96035857Ogres are the setting gigachads. Imagine bullying Chinese into sending a genocidal meteor to wipe out your people. It kills 90% of your kin and instead of seething or crying you worship it as a god and draw more strength from it.
>>96035857The Sky Titans deserved it
>>96035875It was somewhat implied that Cathay was always behind the meteorite, though they made sure to write in plausible deniability before in the lore. Now the AJ was pretty explicit they did that shit.
>>96035125games workshop is big enough that no amount of piracy will even meaningfully appear as a blip in their financial statements
but for smaller studios like highland miniatures or independent solo creators like many of those found on MMF, a single piracy ring can be so devastating to their income stream that it will be a bodyblow to their financials, and may even cause them to shutter over time if it gets bad enough.
i'm all for sticking it to GW, but you should really support independent creators and teams, especially those directly competing with GW, they need all the help they can get.
>new dwarf warrior kit that can be build as rangers
>new dwarf quarreler/thunderer kit
>new slayer kit
>new tk skeletons and skeleton cavalry kit
Those are the most important kits that need to be made before I will invest in the old world
Are VC worth getting into?, I dig their style, lore with the bloodlines with them being spooky ass vampires but I'm curious if they good or not to play as on tabletop?
>>96036045avatars of war makes a passable plastic slayer and ranger kit you can still find floating around on ebay.
>>96036053Theyโre a Legacy army currently, so itโd take a bit of extra work to make an army starting from scratch. AoS has a number of neat models that you probably could fit onto square bases, however theyโre also rumored to be โsoonโ for being added back into the TOW with all the support that entails, but thatโs an undetermined time off and technically a rumor at that.
>>96036053throw em on rounds and get round to square adapter trays and you can get 2 games use out of them like daemons. always nice to get more bang for your buck
>>96035667After failing miserably, the Cathayans had no choice but to humble themselves and offer tributes to the ogres.
>>96036073Those Dread Harpies look sick
>>96036093>throw em on rounds and get round to square adapter traysplease don't do this
>>96036073His Minos are great
>>96036053Vampire Counts have been a good-to-great army for decades. They're rumored to be getting a re-imagined army in TOW in a year or so and will probably be good then also
>roll out the green felt from the craft store
>a few foam hills in the corners
>some model train trees scattered around
>maybe add a building or farmland if a special feature is needed for the scenario
pure terrain kino 40kfags will never understand
>>96036263i recently got a modular river made with 3d printed parts which i then poured clear resin on to simulate water ripples and i'm drooling it over, shit is so cool
>>96033230 (OP)So will TOW 2e be set during a different period? Because ideally they'd bring back at least some of the legacy armies but before the 1e release they had to make every excuse to explain why they're not in the setting.
>>96036312They're building up to the near-destruction of Kislev, siege of Praag and the Great War Against Chaos. After that, who knows? Vampire Counts are supposedly coming back soon
>>96036073They're all fucking huge, those are 25mms they're on.
Looking at getting into ToW with my old WHFB - rebased into AoS, Chaos army. Would a Sorcerer Lord on Manticore, foot Sorcerer and mounted Sorcerer alongside blocks of Warriors, some knights and chariots be too mean to run? Everything with Mark of Tzeentch for the sake of narrative.
>>96036343Had to play somehow. WHFB scene died when the original LGS here died and only AoS was a thing with 40k. Sadly, the LGS that took over died off too and my armies mostly took up space doing nothing. TOW gives me a chance to rebase and enjoy them once more. Just hoping I can use my Warshrine soon.
>>96033230 (OP)>a mighty conflict occurs>skaven inject themselves into the conflict because reasons>lose>claim they are the winners anywayWhat the fuck is their problem?
bro im legit about to ragequit on this sentinel build. jesus fucking christ what a pain in the ass. nothing fits, everything is split into a dozen vertically sliced jigsaws, there are almost no guide pegs or mounting brackets for any of the parts, its all just weird flat on flat surfaces.
i've built master grade gunpla kits easier than this. shits a fucking nightmare
>>96036376I'm just gonna use an anime figure. I'm not blowing over a hundred burger coupons for that.
>>96036341No, that list isnโt mean at all post errata.
>>96036341that doesn't sound either overpowered or underpowered to me, should be fine against type of player
>>96036370Why are the retard reddit rats retarded and reddit?
It's in their nature.
>>96036045Making a warrior/ranger and a thunderer/quarrler kit makes no sense. Why would you have the two crossbow units be the same kit? What parts would you even be able to share between rangers and warriors?
>>96036312Not a different period altogether, it might get pushed a little bit further into the great war against chaos but that's only like 20 year jump
>>96036073Man I think dwarves are just gay

>>96036894https://spikeybits.com/gw-decides-to-hold-grand-cathay-release-hostage/
GW is basically forcing LGSs who want to stock Cathay stuff to buy them in a bundle packed with Warriors of Chaos stuff.

>>96036995A lot of people are adamant against buying any Age of Sigmar minis, even if they have the minis you want for your Legacy army. It's to avoid padding Age of Sigmar's sales numbers which could lead to for example, the Chaos Dwarfs becoming an Age of Sigmar exclusive army.
>>96037043>the Chaos Dwarfs becoming an Age of Sigmar exclusive army. Can't they just share miniatures between ToW and AoS? It worked for 40k and AoS with Chaos Daemons.
>>96037043It basically boils down to buying second hand if you really want a GW sculpt, which anyone sane already does anyway.

>>96037715The truth: they don't hide their tities.
>>96037952I don't think that applies to Old World, they had every opportunity to move the entire range to plastic with a few multi-purpose kits like the Bret lord on peg and they opted for resin and metal to play on nostalgia. While they have been pretty low on stock with short availability windows I don't think that is going to change this edition. Does make you wonder how different the game launch would have gone with the original plan of new plastic factions and whether in hindsight they would be more confident doing full range refreshes.
>>96038039>they had every opportunity to move the entire range to plastic with a few multi-purpose kitsthat's not as easy as you make it to be, plastic moulds are a serious investment, apparently, and from what we can understand they weren't even sure about cathay, they had to wait for the first sales numbers for TOW to appear before they could "expand the project"

>>96038079Yes, that random bullshit is a big investment for them too, they try to maximise the use of their kits as much as possible and don't make them before relatively extensive polls to gauge their market's demands.
Just to clear resin/metal from bretonnia it would take at least 6 unit kits and 3 hero kits, that's not a small wave of models, even 40k has to trudge along with way less getting invested in the vast majority of its armies every edition, and 40k is the indisputable money maker.

>>96038163I'm using all of those models for my VC army in some capacity and managed to fit the Blood Knights on 25x50 cm square bases, so pre-Old World sizing. The skeletons I have on the old 20x20 squares and they were a fucking bitch to rank up properly but it's doable if you use a bunch of unit fillers (which you should anyhow)
The Blood Knights I am completely in love with. Some anons on this board may disagree and call them AoS-ified which is true to an extent but not as egregiously as with the other armies, and it fits right in with the 8th ed aesthetic.
The real problem is with the skeletons. Not only are they terrible to rank up but they're flimsy (supposedly easier to build as of the latest spearhead box) and their scale is just way too big. They tower over normal infantry. Eventually I'll replace mine with the older skeleton kit because they look so off compared to my Grave Guard. I guess you could sidestep this problem if you just buy all the new AoS Deathrattle releases like the Barrow Guard but then the entire army will just look mad weird compared to like the Empire
>>96039493The blood knights are pretty aosified, but I think that's largely fixable by avoiding some of the dumber helmets in the kit and not using the fugly banner.
The skeletons are just wildly out of scale with the 2008 skeletons/other good skeleton options, and the uniform armor is kind of lame and too kislev themed

Southern Realms (Dogs of War) and more Tomb Kings in the next Arcane Journal after the second Cathay one according to Discord
>>96041311i just remember my maneaters from ogre kingdoms in 6th edition had the dogs of war rule, so i just assumed it was a USR for using codex entries as mercenaries in other armies like the maneaters
>>96041470Any details on southern realms? Only old kits or new plastics too?
>>96040515remove the integrated bases
>>96041470>Southern Realms and Tomb KingsYou know maybe it says it in the Arcane Journal or Army books, but what the rest of notAfrica thinks and deals with The Land of the Dead could be interesting.
>>96040048blame GW for their shitty lore where Dragons can crossbreed with humans, which somehow only ever happened in Cathay.
>>96041641Southern Realms in this case, I think, just mean Tilea, Estalia, and the Border Princes rather than Araby and the Southlands.
>>96041470Does the leak say what's part of the 2nd Tomb Kings?
>>96041680Ah well, maybe theyโll give them a RoR anyways.
>>96041680And sartosa would be where the pirates come into the equation
>>96041671Keep up! The Dragon Emperor/Celestial Dragon is the only elder dragon smart enough to not get killed directly taking on the Old Ones, and hooks up with the Dragon Empress/Moon Dragon, who comes from the moon and is defiantly not a dragon, but took the shape of one cos she was horny for the Dragon Emperor and subsequently taught him how to shapeshift into human form and had a bunch of kids with him, would could also shapeshift into human and proceeded to fuck them.
Shapeshifting not an especially new thing in Warhammer (vampires taking wolf and bat forms, weres, OG doplegangers, Transformation of Kadon), but also not one that gets a lot of attention.
All silverhelms assembled. Now to prime and paint them.
Then their shields.
>>96041823holy fucking age of shit.
wait that's not really the fluff is it
>>96041194the only scale problem is with aggradons: they're practically as big as the old carnosaur, while the new skink cavalry is the kit that fits the cold ones cavalry the best.
>>96041923That is really the fluff. Read the Arcane Journal, it's basically pamphlet anyway.
>>96041923>the anime waifu dragons are anime waifus?Come on anon.
>>96041923it's a bit hyperbolic as per 4chan retelling traditions, but it's roughly correct:
the eastern dragon was clever at studying magic and staying away from problems with the old ones and he, and his children, got shapeshifting magic thanks to the empress, who's allegedly the last of an unknown species of shapeshifting aliens from the moon
can dragons interbreed with others without shapeshifting magic? I like to think so to explain various draconic beasts, like dragon ogres, who are not chaos mutants, but so far the fluff is that only the eastern dragons fuck humans.
>>96041680I wish GW would make a official southern realms army book with Estalia and Tilea, I know they nothing more than lore set pieces that get mentioned here and there once in a blue moon but I think it be cool to have them in some way in the old world, like a conquistador styled army I would fucking love to make
>>96041470>Southern RealmsI hate this name paraded around by total war Spaniards to feel more important, estalia is irrelevant, the army is dogs of war, if it has to be called something else, it's got to be called Tilea, because that's the only part that matters.
>>96041908Fvcking based. Imagine this as a single unit
>>96041671They can probably do it because of moon empress genes.
>>96041823And just like that, Cathay has disappeared from my head canon.
tilea

๐
>>96041990Tilea is decently fleshed out thanks to the original 5th edition Dogs of War books and later supplements and WFRP splats, it's just Estalia, which we know very little beyond it being "Not-Iberia"
>>96041942>>96041961>>96041984>on today's episode of 40,000 Reasons To Ignore Everything GW Published After 2005...as staggering as it seems, I think this list might actually hit 40,000 entries before I die.
fuckin hell, geedubs. it's like they sponsored a continuing education program and every single employee got an advanced degree in Fuckup.
>>96042084What we do know is mostly from older books and it's not flattering at all.
>soldiers are referred to constantly as villains and cruel>South Estalia is akin to Araby, North Estalia akin to Bretonnia>they are almost identical to Tileans but if you call an Estalian a Tilean he'll kill you>city-states at constant war with each otherEven the new world colonies and explorations are a Tilean thing rather than Estalian.
>>96042151>Even the new world colonies and explorations are a Tilean thing rather than Estalian. That's not really the case since out of the four canon human settlements on Lustria, really only Port Reaver and Swamp Town have a connection to Tilea, and only through Sartosan Pirates, Skeggi is Norse, and Santa Magritta is Estilian.
Canonically fucks human men all the time and has had thousands if not more children with them.
Canonically also a nice person the people genuinely love and follow because they want to.
May also be the woman Sigmar ditched the empire for in order to live out his retirement with her.
>>96041671They can do it because they can take human form, unlike western dragons
>>96041923What exactly is so bad about it? The Moon Empress isn't literally from one of the moons, she is just born from it's magic.
>>96042322>they can take human formcan we just collectively agree to memory-hole that anime shit? like just among us warhammer players, agree to give gw the bird. it's 4000% cooler if cathay is just ruled by a dragon dynasty.
>>96042357What is so bad about it? It is hardly the first time powerful beings are able to shapeshift, how many times as a Tzeenthcian demon took the form of a human, or Lahmian Vampires?
>it's 4000% cooler if cathay is just ruled by a dragon dynastyTheir dragon form is their true form
>>96042357>can we just collectively agree to memory-hole that anime shit? No.
>>96042387>Tzeentchian demon took the form of a humanspecifically the changeling, who, you know, changes.
>Lahmian VampiresVampires are humans
What is bad about DRAGONS shapeshifting is not only are they not really spellcasters in the setting they are also prideful and so the idea they would even want to lower themselves just to make their human subjects feel fuzzy inside is ludicrous. It also seems like the only reason GW would let them shapeshift is to try to make them appear good and not monster tyrants ruling over humans, which is gay as hell.
>>96041923>lore about fantasy creatures using magic in MY FANTASY BATTLES GAME?????
>>96042426The dragons being able to shapeshift isn't even new lore
>>96042355>>96042387>What exactly is so bad about it?if you need to be told that, there's nobody who will be able to explain it to you.
you're like that one 13 year old who for some fucking reason needs to be told that huffing glue is a bad idea (and is too fucking stupid to listen).
>>96042490So in other words, you don't have a real reason other than just finding fantasy china icky
This is akin to when online liberals say "It's not my job to educate you" when you ask them to substantiate their positions.
>>96042357>it's 4000% cooler if cathay is just ruled by a dragon dynasty.I think it's cooler if it's just human emperors hopped up on so much mercury they really think they're dragons.
>>96042357What does memory-hole refer to?
Context I know you mean forget, but what the fuck is memory-hole
>>96038429Half HW+S half Halberd. You can put whatever loadout you're playing as in the front ranks, and then you don't need two battalion boxes. Could also do 20 of one and run a detachment of 10 of the other.
>>96042700It's from 1984. garbage tube that leads to the incinerator. when the government deletes someone, all files on them go down the hole, so they cease to have ever existed.
>>96042565we do already have an Egypt faction. but that's definitely also an improvement over what we got.
>>96042509it's not *fantasy* china that's the problem.
a version of warhammer china written back when GW still employed writers would probably have been great.
>>96042918It's just GW trying to appeal to 40k players. They did this with Stormcasts in Age of Sigmar to evoke High Fantasy Space Marines. Cathay is basically an Imperial Chinese version of the Imperium of Man, complete with a Godlike Emperor with his Primarch children.
>>96042918>it's not *fantasy* china that's the problem.a version of warhammer china written back when GW still employed writers would probably have been great
Always gotta throw that old good, new bad in there too.
>>96043029Claiming that 40k created the idea of a demigod is quite the argument
>>96042918>China with ogres and money dudes and giant stone soldiers led by magical shapeshifting dragons with fleets of skyships isn't fantasy because it's not evil and the cute dragon girls like human menBruh.
>>96043111I don't think he's saying it isn't fantasy. But that is not fantasy, as in Warhammer Fantasy.
It's gay nu-lore.
>>96039493Skellies can be de-kislevised with a simple head and shield swap if you choose to build them with spears. Oh, and you absolutely can repose them so they fit on 20mm squares without fillers. The main issue with them is the same as with the previous kit, the bones are thin and fragile. At least the joints are more solid now.
>>96042565That's definitely making it into the rewrite, but they're also only one of the countless factions in a never-ending orgy of warlordism that only pretends to rule.
I think itโs funny and fits the universe how the Dragon Emperor accidentally accelerated the fall of the Sky Titans and his only reaction to the Elves enslaving the western Dragons and the Dwarves slaughtering them was to quietly seethe about it.
>>96033230 (OP)Regarding Cathay, it remains to be seen if Cathay's depiction in Total War will be accurate to The Old World but if it is, then I definitely think they fit the setting.
The Arcane Journal soured me on the army but I really enjoy their depiction in the game. An entire empire ruled by a distant ancient dragon and his retarded children who can't get along, with a population of brainwashed subjects being bossed around by arrogant nobles? Sounds good to me.
Here's hoping we get a better idea of what the Dragon Emperor's plan is, since it seems he wants to genocide the Slann and rid the world of all Old One projects, including humans.
>>96043092>Always gotta throw that old good, new bad in there too.in most contexts old good new bad is bullshit.
but in GWs case, it's been true 10 times out of 10, every year for two straight fucking decades. at this point it's not some grog truism, it's just a natural law of the universe.
How can I build an effective 1k orcs and goblins list for 8th edition?
I'm mostly interested in night goblins, black orcs, and mangler squigs.
I currently have access two doom diver catapults and some spear chuckas but no other artillery. I dont really care to buy a stone lobba or whatever, but can if the army is unplayable without it.
so far I'm looking at
2 doom divers
1 mangler squig
lv2 night goblin shaman
lv4 night goblin great shaman
7x5 night goblins (spears) with all the shit
5x4 archers with just fanatics
the rest of the points spent on black orcs
What units are a waste of time in this edition? normal orc boys and normal goblins?
how are boar boys?
generally how do i deploy this army? I figure black orcs in the middle, one doom diver and unit of night goblins on each side. not entirely sure where to put the squig and wizards.
thanks!
>>96036338I made mine fit on 20mm. They also rank up pretty easily. It helped that I kitbashed them heavily as the weapons they come with are ridiculously oversized, even by warhammer standards.
>>96043566The 1d6chan wiki is your friend here, they have a great tactics page for 8th edition Orcs and Goblins that I can't be bothered to summarize. It should answer all your questions as they have detailed breakdowns on not only tactics but information about each individual unit choice.
>>96042509look, there's like minimum 3 things a new faction should do to fit in to a game without players crying bullshit:
#1 it should integrate smoothly in to the lore with lots of ties to existing factions, so it feels like it was always there. this is how you create backdrop for all the conflict that you show on the table.
#2 it should give them good reason to be in fights with as many other factions as possible. so lots of shared borders and ripe conflicts with everybody.
#3 and also good reason to be in fights with other players who have the same army. which means lots of opportunities for internal schisms and strife.
these three things are critical, because the whole point of wargame lore is to provide context for the battles you're playing on the table. and cathay fails hard on all three.
if you want a counterexample look at ogre kingdoms. before the 6th ed army books all the lore about warhammer ogres could fit on a napkin. it was basically whole-cloth invention of a faction. but they tied it in tightly with what already existed, created reasons for ogres to fight everybody including each other (and to have been fighting with everybody in the past), and supported the pre-existing DoW and Orc connections. which meant from day 1 it felt like it belonged. the players never rejected it as foreign because it never felt out of place.
>>96044018I'm not in love with Cathay but the army fulfills all of your criteria.
>1. integrate smoothly into the lore with lots of ties to existing factions.Probably on the weaker side compared to your other criteria. Cathay as depicted in fluff until now have been isolationist, and they still are to a certain degree. That one of the dragon siblings visited Sigmar in person is stupid to me. But Cathay employs many trade caravans and their western cities are filled with traders and explorers from all races, they have a close relationship with the Ogres, have a hatred of Chaos and according to nu-fluff are sending troops to help in the Great War Against Chaos.
>2. shared borders with other armiesCathay are constantly fighting off Chaos, Dark Elf raids, Clan Eshin, lots of battles against Ogres and Chaos Dwarfs since Cathay's caravans pass through their lands. Obviously there's also Beastmen and Orcs in Cathay. There have been attempted invasions of both the Southlands and Lustria by Cathay (which has been established for decades) and the Dragon Emperor hates Slann and the Lizardmen.
I'd argue that Cathay actually fulfills this criteria much better than certain other armies, such as the Wood Elves, Chaos Dwarves, Lizardmen, Tomb Kings, meaning armies that don't stray much from their own settlements.
>3. internal strifeCathay has constant civil wars between the dragon siblings. They hate each other. This is like one of the key parts of the army.
>>96042357No, because thats the coolest part about cathay. Why would I humor your autism?
>>96036376Yeah no its fucking retarded im like almost done rn, the chestpiece is so fucking bullshit. Wait untill you figure out the instructions for the hands are wrong lol
>>96041088 this was me complaining about it aswell
>>96044105>They hate each otherBut really like the stupid mortals that serve them. Like a lot.
>>96036338dwarves go on 25s
>>96036894Do people actually live like this where they pay attention to when they get paid so they can instantly blow money on the newest shittiest products from gw? Wild.
>>96044423scholars of the empire will tell you that the dragons of cathay copulate with their subjects and yes they are correct
Working on my Razorgor, goin with drybrushing, this time around, let's get it done.
>>96044614Nice pig anon, dig the colors. What colors did you use?
I have also been working a little on my razorgor, mainly filling in gaps with greenstuff.
