I've had a biweekly campaign running for about a year now. My players seem to be very happy with it. Using a homebrew system that is loosely based on both old school D&D and SWSE, we're dealing with a band of heroes chosen by the elemental crystals to protect them from a terrible cult. Summoning outside of the summoner tribe requires a lot of magic crystals and summoning something as powerful as Chaos itself requires the biggest magic crystals in the world.
There is also magitech-using north Korea Nazi Rome raping catgirls as a way to distract the kingdoms long enough to drop their guard over the elemental crystals.

I personally don't like the Returners systems. First through 3rd-ed are just trying too hard to emulate the videogame rules too closely, and thus bog everything down making it an uplayable mess at the tabletop. The 4th-edition is just a completely different system that doesn't do Final Fantasy well.
If you want to play an actual Final Fantasy-based tabletop that feels like Final Fantasy, and don't want to homebrew it yourself, try Omega Fantasy II or Fabula Ultima. The latter isn't as good as the former, but does have more player-facing options for character progression.

Nah, fallen angels and demons aren't actually the same thing. Demons are the souls of the nephilim, the children of caine, and the creations of lilith god killed in the big flood(meaning there are at least 3 unrelated demon species). Fallen angels are specifically fallen angels or devils, never demons.
