Is it true that Americans love Age of Sigmar, but Europeans prefer Warhammer Fantasy Battles?

Americans love 40K and occasionally use AoS models to gussy up their armies.

No, I don't think anyone really cares for Age of Sigmar.
Americans don't care about Fantasy either.

Back in the WFB days, Lizardmen were much more popular in America than every other army and not popular in Europe, which continued on into AoS.
in general America cares much more for 40k than any of the fantasy games compared to certain European countries( Spain and Poland for example)

I remember a while back when there was that subreddit member correlation site, it was found that most of their members participated in the portland/seattle subs. At least 50% of their cesspit is from the northwest lmfao, and the rest are spread out around the UK and Canada.

Speaking as a swedish guy, Warhammer Fantasy has always been popular here and equal in size to 40k way back before it died. Age of Sigmar hasn't really managed to gain ground over here.
Anecdotally, the biggest Warhammer tournament in my city this year was for The Old World, beating out both 40k and AoS.

It's probably because Europeans like historical and more grounded fantasy stuff.
Warhammer Fantasy was literally past history with a mix of various fantasy genres, so people loved it.

My friends like some of the models, but the only people I know who like AoS completely are leftists. All of the local game stores on the Gulf Coast sell 40k/30k and might have a tiny corner for AoS.
Why invest into a game with barely any cool guns? Old World gets a pass because it has cool old guns.

Medieval fantasy has always taken a backseat to sci-fi and space opera stuff in the US. If I had to guess why, I'd say it simply boils down to stories we grew up with. Europeans had Tolkien and other fantasy writers that were cultural phenomenons, while in the US we had Buck Rogers and Star Wars.

Also, America didn't have a medieval/renaissance age. It's as alien to them as futuristic technofantasy.

>Americans didn't have a medieval/Renaissance age
Yeah we did. We were living in Europe at that time, dumbass. We don't have castles and shit sitting around as reminders of it because the continent didn't experience it. The USA also had Tolkien's work, it wasn't some mythical times that never left the UK or something.

Sci-fi was more popular in the USA because sci-fi writing was more common place for decades with even pulp magazines and such being fairly common. This jumped to movies and the like as well.

Wargaming in general was never wildly popular in the USA, however, the wargaming scene with guns is gonna be more popular than the wargaming scene without guns.

Nobody cares about AoS. Americans play 40k, though many of them did play WF, in the town I grew up in there were two broad groups, the 40k guys (large, open, lots of people) and a smaller and more insular WF community. Both sort of disliked each other but there was some overlap, the WF guys were also typically the Battletech guys, and the 40k guys were also typically the Warmachine guys.

AoS came along and the WF guys hated it, some of the 40k guys played it but why would you play Age of Sigmar instead of 40k?

We did exist. We were Europeans. America sees itself as (and is in fact) a direct continuation of the European project extressed on conquered land. At a certain point in the past, your history is just our history. As such we do think of our people as having been at some point knights and peasants and whatever in Europe--which is part of the reason why progressive elements here have difficulty reconciling the idea that medieval Europe was all white. If that is the case (and of course it is) then that means that a large portion of the American people are not actually American--which they are not.

I can only speak for my local scene (through it respresents 90% of the warhammer players in my country)

AoS is doing well here and all new players that don't immediately go to 40k end up playing AoS, there's popular player leagues and regular events, I can almost always find a few games a week.

Fantasy seems to be a small but tightknit community mostly playing with their old stuff, the old world kits are staying on shelves and AoS players bought up all the Cathay stuff for proxies (notably the giant lantern balloon hasn't sold because it can't be proxied easily in AoS)

Most Americans are too stupid to even understand where or what Europe is. The only ones who pretend to European heritage are the 0.001% of the population who are military history fags, like you, and recognize that their complete lack of heritage beyond "we cowboys" means stealing from others is necessary.
