How would you realistically bring down the Bane of Thor in AD&D?

Psionic ability is something you randomly roll for in 1E, there is no psion class. There is no dedicated class for it, and the psionic combat rules don't work as written.

1e and 2e are compatible. They're 99% the same exact game.

The /osrg/ also only has a few loud autists; the majority are not super fucking weird about shit like system tribalism. Basically, don't try to define a group by its worst members.

Attack its midpoint and then, when its head flies at you at 750,000 mph, just put literally anything in its way. I'm pretty sure a rock would kill the thing at approximately mach 1000. That shit is multiple times the speed of a meteor. Literally all you need to do is get it to Tunguska itself.

Y'all are overcomplicating this shit.

Cool, so he'll kill one guy every 6 seconds. That's 10 a minute. Assuming it always hits, so actually less than that.
Car accidents kill about 2 people per minute worldwide.
Doesn't really sound like it's too dangerous. Might as well just ignore it.

Even if you could parse Gary's coke-fueled drivel, you're not getting any headway against this monster with a psionicist.

Alternatively, cut a portion of its top half off while it's moving toward you and watch it rocket off the surface of the planet and into low orbit as it loses its grip at several times escape velocity. Regenerate from that!

Obviously this wouldn't count as "bringing it down" but it's close enough.

Failing that, see what's the limit on number of summonned monsters.

Ah, I ran into versions where Thor kills the Midgard serpent, and then will take nine steps before dying from the serpent's venom.

Just load up a bunch of gnomish airships with crossbow men with THAC0 20, they'll deal (0.20)(4.5) damage with a d8 crossbow each turn, so 0.9 each. Thus, get 334 of them on various ships, use horns so they all shoot at once, and the greatest monster of Norse legend is dead.

Have the player with the highest charisma get a 100 hirelings and have them all chuck a flask of oil at it.
Could be done for a few hundred gold pieces if the men and oil were available, which they should be in any city being threatened by a giant snake.

An fleet of that can carry 334 armed men and allow them a clear shot at the same time is going to be a fucking massive undertaking of engineering, money, and logistics. Not to mention the Jormungandr isn't stupid, it sees a fleet of airships going for its head it'll just use its 24000-mile reach to bring down the entire thing.

>>96100215
Even assuming the hirelings are willing to fight it, you still need to get in range. Not to mention it would be a suicide attack since flasks have a range far lower than the 50' poison cloud it expels from its head upon dying, and last I checked hirelings will not willingly do anything suicidal.

Do the hirelings (or even the players) know this? I don't think that would be common knowledge.

Yeah well getting hit with 100 crossbow bolts should kill almost everything. Past that point that's what damage reduction should be for. Unfortunately 3.5e took it to the extreme and now it has a bad rap.

If it can move that fast and still attack with relative precision against singular targets, then there's no reason to think it couldn't also maneuver with comparable speed and precision to avoid obstacles. No fake physics cheese here.
