Any of you guys play this? I just bought a set and hope to find players. Rules seem deceptively simple given the amount of theory written on it (eg https://diplomacyzines.co.uk/ and https://diplomaticon.com/ ). Perhaps rather like chess.
What are your thoughts on Diplomacy?

Fun fact: Diplomacy has been informally banned in the US Navy for decades because it led to too many fights.

I wish Spain was an option as a power.

>try to introduce friend to Diplomacy
>sign up for a site, arrange a private game
>everyone gets in, draw countries
>Austria
>England: OH FUCK ANON'S RIGHT NEXT TO BUDDY A (Russia) AND B (Italy)
>Germany: OH SHIT OH FUCK FRANCE YOU GOTTA JOIN US NOW
>France WE NATO NOW
>Russia and I shove Turkey in the locker in 1901
>Then IAR alliance plays gunboat with EFG until France and Germany get upset and we stop the game
And that's why I only play with strangers now.

Played a few game online with friends, and randoms from /tg/
All games have been a lot of fun
And yes the game is relatively simple, but one issue stems from all players having turns at the same time, so figuring out what really happens is sometimes rather wacky, and means to really win you really need to plan out your moves

Those were great, fond memories of those. The 4-way draw was one long ass game

Great game, prepare to want to kill your friends for betrayals and even shitty order instructions that fuck your game plan up.
