What is "a warlock"?
>>96104317
Yes. Turns out, the vast, vast, vast overwhelming majority of characters in fantasy media / literature cannot be modeled in D&D but they can be in GURPS. If /tg/ would ban all discussion / reference to D&D, it would only improve - both the board and the community at large.

>Is He-Man a warlock?
Absolutely not.

There are no 3.x, 4e, or 5e D&D classes or feats which could model him. It is unlikely 1e or 2e could either from what little I know or remember.
Other systems, even ones inspired by D&D, such as Pathfinder, can model him to various degrees.

In Pathfinder 1e he would be a Magical Child Vigilante with some minor homebrew (namely, changing the familiar to an animal companion, for his tiger mount Cringer), with several technological and magical items, possibly from Starfinder 1e.
In 2e he would be a Fighter or possibly a Commander with the Starlit Sentinel dedication, with several magical items and a few items ported from Starfinder 2e.

Youd get the essence, but not an exact replication of true power with both editions.

good for you!
Why do people think anyone cares about what others play?
I don't know about you guys but I don't buy shares in tabletop RPG companies so whether GURPS is popular or not won't change a thing. The game is complete, they've already said they won't redo gurps vehicles, so the company could close down TODAY and nothing would change.

Because some fucking candyass roddypoo keeps on trying to force the GURPS meme into every thread no matter how little sense it makes, and whines about 5e in a manner I can only recognize as utter seething.
To flip the question on its head, why the fuck do you care if someone isn't playing GURPS, but happily plugging away at their 5e campaign instead? Why the need to bring it up so much if you don't care?

Peak He-Man can move faster than light and bench-press planets. The latter is not hyperbole.

He’s also consistently shown as superior to Skeletor, who - at peak - is a multiverse-scale conqueror who operates at a similar level to the likes of Dr. Strange, Dr. Fate, Zatanna or Scarlet Witch. In one DC/Masters crossover comic, he bodied the entire Justice League, including Superman, in the space of just a few panels.

It’s a bit outside the limits of D&D or, indeed, most RPGs, to depict.

I'm not saying that these games can emulate he-man, but in terms of power level, I can think of some RPGs that can reach that.
D&D3e epic level shit is unplayable but does have "bench press planets" with enough ST.
GURPS also does have ST scale into bench pressing, supers does have Superman statted up (with some generic name)

Firstly "who cares for logic?" outliers are not "can the system manage the power structure?", secondly there are in fact unbounded speed sources in-system. Epic levels, as >>96112066 points out, goes quite indefinitely.

And you can actually manage the building-chucking pre-Epic. The Hulking Hurler shenanigans are quite impressive.

I wish it weren't true either, but we live in a world of realities and influences not wishes. Everything fantasy made in the last 30 years is filtered through the D&D lens. If not aping how it twisted the tropes of pulp and early high fantasy, then by how attempting to actively avoid it still causes it to be a primary influence. Zigging because D&D zagged is still letting D&D decide for you.

no, it's not about intentionally avoiding WotC stuff, it's about doing whatever you want and choosing your influences/inspirations.
D&D existing doesn't mean that you MUST use it even when analyzing or referencing LotR or fucking ancient mythology.
