There is a place for the martial who has woodsy skills and wears lighter or no armor because he needs to be fast/enduring/sneaky and can't waste carry weight on it. I'm just not certain that a whole class ought to be built around that, whereas the heavy fighter with the armor has a class of its own. If anything it ought to be one class and the player makes the choice which to go with for said quest.
