Force of will has been tacking on 2-4 new keywords every new set and it's absolutely aggravating to try and learn how they all function on top of trying to comprehend the ygo word soup that is all too common on most cards. It's a terrible experience to constantly have to add onto your foundational knowledge - it never feels like you have any grasp on the game unless you make it your second job.

As long as the current keyword collection is evergreen and fills every hole in the pie for the game to be dynamic I don't see a lack of additional keywords as a failure. Is a lack of new keywords really an indicator of a boring game? Cards can do interesting things without it being abbreviated for brevity.

I think keywords are usually a necessary way to abbreviate something that frequently occurs in the game so you don't have to explain it every time. In One Piece, they're slowly printing more cards with effects like "can't be removed from field by opponent's effect" or "resists opponent's KO effects" or "can ONLY attack CHARACTERS the turn it is played" or "can attack active characters this turn." These effects will probably eventually be abbreviated into a keyword (ie. something like "Deathproof" for a card that resists opponent's K.O. effects) but they don't have a keyword that exists yet. That doesn't mean that they're not increasingly printing cards like this. But I'll admit that I haven't tried many TCGs outside of One Piece so I don't know how valid the "stale as fuck" claim is. I think it's great but it was the first paper card game I tried that was fun+affordable+popular, and I stopped looking at other games when I found it. What do you play anon?

It's to improve the flow of the pilot mechanic. If Marida only had 1 link unit, it would make her significantly weaker. Giving her 2 or 3 link units along the cost curve gives you a more even deck structure for your chosen pilots to synergize with.

They were also very consistent about making the vanilla be the cheaper version, and with less exciting art. And it's somewhat thematic too, suits typically show up several times as the narrative progresses.

I've gotten used to the FaB hate. It's how you know the game is alive.

This is literally the case in the mainstream TCGs. MtG and Yu-Gi-Oh pros have notorious cheaters among their ranks and, in the latter's case, they snidely admit to cheating being a skill one must learn to perform well at the top levels. There are infamous cheaters among the pros who owe much of their success to fudging their plays in such a way that they either go unnoticed or have plausible deniability such that they take a warning at most if they get caught.
MtG's cheaters are less notorious because they tend to get struck down hard if they get caught, but Yu-Gi-Oh cheaters have a backup defense in that, by rules, if a mandatory action gets skipped or misplayed, the onus falls on BOTH players to call it out and if it doesn't get called out then you get what is called an "accepted gamestate" or, in severe cases, both players can get a warning or game loss.

I wouldn't go that far. Some people genuinely just have more thorough game knowledge, make better meta calls, or pilot their decks more consistently. I've seen tons of losers flip their shit because they "got sacked" or said they just got unlucky when you can track every decision they made and how they didn't properly play to their outs.
There's a luck element to these games, but there are people who are just that much better than the common rabble that can't even begin to understand the finer points of some games.

Yeah, there are people who are genuinely just better, but you're more likely to see "pure" winners in games with smaller player pools because the skill difference is more pronounced there. One dedicated faggot can consistently sweep a low-level/alternative game because he puts in more effort and accrues more experience by just grinding it out. You'll notice games like Netrunner had consistent top level players precisely because they were playing to a smaller room compared to, say, MtG Standard.
If we're talking about a game like Yu-Gi-Oh, then yes, most of the people who consistently win big events are cheats and sharks that shoot angles and play games of sleight of hand.

First series, if you can't stand watching 43 episode of an aged series from 1979 you can watch the recap movies instead, you really need this foundation to watch the later follow-ups and the variety of shorter series that play in the same chronology. We call this chronology UC for Universal Century, there are series that are self-sufficient and take place in their own universes and some of them are fine but I wouldn't recommend any of them as an entry point.

They may be upset they were priced out of the game, and be mad at the wallstreetshitters ruining tabletop with their investing, but that's not a fault of the game or its creators. They release a sealed, randomized product, offering it at a competitive price. Eventually time passes, and the print runs are low enough, so things get expensive. Card legality is also very different with this product, resulting in obtuse rotations of narrow card pools. That means old cards stick around for a long ass time. What they do not do is scam their playerbase with endless premium fomo products that drive a wedge between playing and collecting.

MA Mode was very good. I went into that more times than I went into Wing Gundam but also I just wasn't drawing into the Wing Gundam/Heero link all night. I just liked the idea of having multiple different units that can attack things in active.

Depends. As nicely as I can say it. If need something that makes you feel like you're really intellectual and having your thoughts provoked when you're someone of lower cognitive ability like say a teen or like dumb... it'll blow your mind. If you've already consumed a lot of quality media doing the same thing it will feel like shit. Also the animation quality going off a cliff after the pilot and never getting any better is a letdown. It's one of the more mediocre gundam series at least. On the positive side for ACG purposes it'll have a lot of material to draw from and will probably give the game a good bump in the west with the early 20s demo

It's alright. Lots of potential, but the two lead writers wanted to go different directions and it lead to issues. The side materials are pretty good from what I've heard, though, and Urdr Hunt is getting something animated pretty soon iirc.

Nope! You take cards from the top of your deck and tuck it under the Cookie - so the HP tracks itself cleanly too. When a Cookie takes damage, you flip up the HP cards cause some have effects related to that before being sent to the discard pile.

Impossible to say.
Their current Bard design is gay and unfun, and they just recently gave the coin manipulation slice to Pirate. On the other hand, FaB is not designed around coherent card pools with strong identities, it's designed on a hero-by-hero basis and card types are 70% vibes. At any moment they might turn around and release either class with next to no foresight or care.
For better or worse it is impossible to predict.

Needs Gyan, if you don't want to rely on rare pulls, Gelgoog is amazing. Link with both Char and M'Quve helps draws not suck as much and its stats are great for a 2 cost.
Zanzibar is good for aggressive base playing for card draw from shields and still shitting out a guy (like Gelgoog).
Drop the Zaku Mariner and 2/2 Zaku II. The only one dorks I've really liked in playtesting are the 1/2 Zaku II since it can threaten EX Bases and maybe Dopps for fixing draws somewhat.

Altered's fourth set dropping in October that will introduce a new hero for each faction.
With the POD and Marketplace in action this set will hopefully be the big push this game needs.
