>>96137950 (OP)>How often do you think a game should add new keywords/mechanics?Ideally never. OPTCG hasn't done that IIRC and I love it for doing that. That shit can get really out of hand after a few years.
Gravy Bones has literally done nothing wrong and deserves no ban
Wing Zero has done many things wrong and deserves a ban
>>96137965This is the ENTIRE reason OPTCG is stale as fuck and one of the worst TCGs on the market. It continues to blow my mind how a game so fucking boring can be as popular as it is.
>>96137981This one? Is it that strong?
I've only played starter deck games and the blue/green deck is the worst one by far.
>>96137986It also refuses to use the keyword mechanics it already has.
>>96138000I'm just shitposting but no, this one
All FB07 leaders were revealed today. I was really surprised it was Glorio and not SSJ4 Goku.
>>96138023green being ramp / late game blowing out dorks makes me want to build GW stall into butts.
>>96137965>>96137986I am with wanpiss anon actually. Force of will has been tacking on 2-4 new keywords every new set and it's absolutely aggravating to try and learn how they all function on top of trying to comprehend the ygo word soup that is all too common on most cards. It's a terrible experience to constantly have to add onto your foundational knowledge - it never feels like you have any grasp on the game unless you make it your second job.
>>96138071And black but we've known about this one for a while.
>>96138000Ah, you're confused. That's the Wing Gundam, a successor unit to the Wing Zero. It's missing a key feature that makes the Zero a monster, which is the ZERO system (Zoning & Emotional Range Omitted).
Anyway, on topic, gonna go play my Zeek/ZAFT red deck at a tourney today. Wish me luck, anons.
>>96138064Obviously there's a balance to be struck but to add absolutely nothing like One Piece is just absurd.
>>96138003Every set has blockers, rush and banish cards with banish being relatively rare, the only 'keyword' they've dropped is (x) for a don cost and replaced it with the wording "you may rest x don cards"
>>96138106>ZAFTBased.
I'm not entirely sure what Zeek is but ZAFT is a fun archetype and it's the first deck I plan on building as well with just a tiny splash of blue because you need a lot of ZAFT units to hit the top 3 search consistently.
>>96138111As long as the current keyword collection is evergreen and fills every hole in the pie for the game to be dynamic I don't see a lack of additional keywords as a failure. Is a lack of new keywords really an indicator of a boring game? Cards can do interesting things without it being abbreviated for brevity.
>>96138000>>96138023>early game ramp>cheap vanilla link with good numbers>mid game focused clear/life chip>end game board nuke/finisher>one of the very few searcher cards on the gameheero decks gonna be wild
he's got an answer for everything at every point of the game
i wonder if they'll ever print second copies of pilots so you can run more than 4 of them and go all in on a single mobile suit
a shop near me has the Gundam starters in stock, but they're charging double MSRP.
Are the starters something that might come back in stock, or are they one and done print runs?
Basically, if I wat these decks can I wait until I see them at another store for a reasonable price, or is this my last best chance at getting them?
>>96138023That card is pretty. I absolutely love Zero.
>>96138435They'll be reprinted in one way or another eventually but there's no telling when. I remember when I got into Digimon there were original starter deck cards that were like $30 a pop and that was during BT8, well after the game's release.
>>96138465Thanks, I guess I'll wait then. I do want to collect the cards but not enough to pay over MSRP
what a frustrating hobby. I don't know how people do this as their main thing
>>96138537>what a frustrating hobby. I don't know how people do this as their main thingFind a cheap game that doesn't get scalped and rope some friends in to play. Do that until the other game you want to play stops getting scalped. A little bit of patience goes a long way.
>>96138537New game launches are often rough.
You couldn't get SWU at MSRP for like nine months but nowadays it's plentiful.
>>96138594Name a tcg released in the last 5 years that hasn't been scalped
>>96138715Keyforge solved this problem, sadly they didn't design the right game (no digital client, game too slow to play it using formats that worked well for the no deck building) to make it work.
>>96137938>Recently I had an incident at a local lgs where I mistakenly activated an effect I actually couldn't, my opponent didn't catch this mistake and let it through but her friend watching at the side did. I apologized after he pointed the mistake out but he said that I shouldn't and that it was on my opponent to notice it. I don't agree with this but it does show the mindset some players have.I agree with this, especially if someone is wanting to go a bigger event because that's exactly what would happen. Getting used to catching all the things your supposed to is part of learning a game at a higher level.
>>96138715Neopets ^_^
And even if literally every new game was scalped, just pick up a dead game to enjoy until prices are reasonable. Dead games are fun.
>>96138000>>96138023In a world of identity politics be a Heero and identity as a problem.
>>96138752If this was MTG, you are not required to keep track of your opponents triggers as per the rules
>>96138976>>96138752right this is an insane concept
>its on you to catch your opponent "cheating" or else it isn't "cheating"that's not at all how high level competitive can play where the only penalty for misplaying is your opponent can notice and stop you from doing so
what would be the incentive to not fudge your plays all the time then?
>Go to my local game store a while ago
>Tell them I'm autistic about Gundam and will give them money for Gundam products
>Alright man, come back for the release of starter decks and then the first boosters!
>Go buy my starter decks
>Tell them I'm looking forward to the release of Newtype Rising
>Cool, see you the 25th!
>Just found out today that they're doing it as a ticketed event and already sold out of tickets and nobody bothered to sell me a ticket during any of my visits or at least tell me they're out of tickets and to not bother with the event
>They were just gonna let me show up one evening for 0 reason
>>96139182game stores are run by morons
if they were smarter they'd run a more profitable business/work a better job
>>96139182100% they sold to regulars or friends they will get a cut from to avoid looking like scalpers. 100% of LGS are run by people getting high on their own supply.
>>96139274they probably just sold first come first serve with no intent or plan whatsoever
>>96138435dont pay too much over MSRP for the starters, they are def getting reprinted. stores are saying end of august. Hell scalpers are blowing through the starters for holofoil/godpack and selling the bricks.
>>96138239>>96138045GW with Kira, Duo, and Heero is shaping up to be one of the meta deck contenders. Or at least, it's a deck people have very quickly figured out to be strong.
But I'm not personally used to the Bandai release cadence. Feels like more starters and then set 2 are going to come out before I would've even had as long as I'd like to test set 1 thoroughly.
SWU in mass retailers now.
When is Bandai bringing back Zenonzard?
>>96139274yeah conspiracy-kun i think its just gameshop employees aren't really worrying about every little detail it takes a lot to have a team doing retail that fosters a culture of giving half a fuck
>>96139625i'd buy bricks, i give zero fucks about collection bs. where find?
>>96140310>gamestop employsgamestop isnt even getting it, faggot-kun.
I don't see Gundam having staying power.
Locals will start off strong like they do for all Bandai releases then dwindle to 6-8 players.
>>96140399>>96140399GameSHop employees, esl-kun. Work on your reading comprehension, not just looking at the shape of the word.
Quick brew I was gonna run today, but the store didn't have enough players show up. How's it look?
>>96140399lmao even
>>96140464 most likely this, its going to vary wildly from LGS to LGS but i dont think Gundam can display whatever a given store's big (10-16+ depending on location) games are.
Shame really love robots and gundam but its just not cool or flashy enough. its such a limpdick safe design so far.
>>96140352check the gundam gcg marketplace group on facebook. the discord is mostly single sales
>>96140635idk shit but this is so unnecessarily hard to follow. like why use two versions of the same card instead of putting its a 3 of?
the fuck order are these in? its not level or cost or type... why?
seriously it should be type. if others are meant to evaluate it being able to identify the general mana curve and how many of each card type you are running without doing extra homework for you doesn't seem like much to ask
>>96140635miguels ginn may truly be the worst card in the game
>>96140812It's so bad that it genuinely seems like they printed it as a mistake. It costs literally *twice* as much as the 2nd most expensive command. Lv6/cost3 would have made sense and maybe been playable.
>>96140799>pay 6>none of the 5 strike gundams on board are dead (it killed a 1/1 demi trainer)>pass turn then diestrategic indeed
>>96140078Neopets spotted!
im waiting for a 10 cost colony drop that trashes all units without high manuver
>>96140635>splashing one card of a different color >it isn't striker pack NGMI
>>96142072I'd rather be able to kill everything that my opponent fields
I also fucking hate SEED and am only running ZAFT for the killing power
>>96140639>>96140399It is, effectively, just Hearthstone.
You get a pilot mechanic I guess but its just a buff system
It isn't terrible but unless we see some really fun designs soon it's so safe and vanilla.
>>96142302what unit is the chillwind yeti?
>>96142302>It is, effectively, just Hearthstone. You get to do shit on the opponent's turn. That alone makes it better than Hearthstone.
>>96142538my favourite thing about hearthstone was it being the objective best strategy to restart the game every time it's the opponent's turn because the game already backstored all of their actions and is just wasting your time with animations
So whatโs the downside? This looks stupid good. And if you throw Wufei on it, it now canโt be damaged by anything 3 or lower on the attack
>>96142401why that would be rezel my beloved. hoping and praying he gets an alt art in gd01.
>>96143037>vanilla C rarityunlikely
>>96143043a man can dream dammit.
>>96143037>more AP than HPthat can't be Chillwind Yeti
>>96143055>can tank a marida/kshatriya link ping>can tank a low-cost 2 AP attack>base killer right out of the box>THE ONLY UNIT THAT'S A 2C/LVL. 3 4/3he's really the only vanilla unit with a high amount of kill power and a fair amount of HP that can come in that early in the game.
>>96143006Why though? If they're not a threat, why fuck them up?
>>96137986I think keywords are usually a necessary way to abbreviate something that frequently occurs in the game so you don't have to explain it every time. In One Piece, they're slowly printing more cards with effects like "can't be removed from field by opponent's effect" or "resists opponent's KO effects" or "can ONLY attack CHARACTERS the turn it is played" or "can attack active characters this turn." These effects will probably eventually be abbreviated into a keyword (ie. something like "Deathproof" for a card that resists opponent's K.O. effects) but they don't have a keyword that exists yet. That doesn't mean that they're not increasingly printing cards like this. But I'll admit that I haven't tried many TCGs outside of One Piece so I don't know how valid the "stale as fuck" claim is. I think it's great but it was the first paper card game I tried that was fun+affordable+popular, and I stopped looking at other games when I found it. What do you play anon?
>>96143352Just look at MTG where they add like 10 keywords every set and since it's only used in one set the cards all have the reminder text on them, 1 out of like 50 new keywords gets made evergreen years later
99% of card games have terrible card frame design.
Good design is minimal and keeps the focus on the artwork.
Shit like this is just ass
>>96143037
>>96143759Hard to take you seriously when you say you want minimal and the supposedly ass
>>96143037 is literally just a colored fence around the artwork
>>96144132You sound like a scalper bitching about the primary function of these cards and the only valid complaint is the effect text box being present on a card with no effects
>>96144132I think what you want are those Chinese card collections that just rip off art from danbooru instead of something that's actually playable
>>96144132What the fuck happened?
>>961332844th set? What the fuck was the 3rd? I know the OG and the snow set.
>>96138860As opposed to Wufei, who identified as a fucking Menace?

Never change.
>Endless WaltzOkay, maybe change a little. Fucking hell.
>>96144132It's already difficult to read the HP/AP from across the table, and you want it even smaller?
>>96144553I love Gundam Wing, and I love you, anon.
>>96142832>So whatโs the downside?Competes with Wing and Deathscythe for the slot
>>96142832they don't put downsides in the devs pet deck, anon
>>96144553Are you sure thatโs what happens?
>>96144132the only valid criticism is the set/rarity size and placement and maybe "unit" could be where space/earth is. The lower opacity effect box being amaller if there are no effects would be nice but also means it will be awkward to look at on a table.
the level and AP/HP should be bigger if anything.
>Continuing to experiment with my Neo-Zeon/Oz deck
>Realize how much of a fucking menace Corsica Base is
Creating a 4/2 Tallgeese token or two 1/1 Leos is no fucking joke, especially if you give the Tallgeese token/those Leo tokens Full Frontal or Zechs as a pilot.
The strategy definitely relies on early blockers, but it's better than my other experimental deck of Zeon/Oz which relies HEAVILY on keeping a full board of cheap shit until the Tallgeese makes an appearance with double tapping shit.
>>96145192Striker Pack is the same, there is almost no reason not to run it at 2-4 copies in any white deck
>>96145207Tokens having blocker is fucking bullshit.
>>96145192Isn't White Base just better? Creating tokens every turn and it's not useless if it comes out of your shields like Corsica Base is.
>>96145274It is, but Corsica pairs surprisingly well with the style Neo-Zeon likes to have.
>>96143759>>96144132gundam is the new FAB for unecessary hate lmao.
>>96144132Just collect postcards anon.
>>96145114NOBODY can be fully sure of what happens in Wing. It's an amazing clusterfuck where at one point, 20 years before Nolan makes it a meme, Lady Une shoots a man AFTER tossing him out of a plane.
>>96145422To be fair, Lady Une is known to be unstable
>>96145441General Septems dub voice was a... choice all right.
One which I suspect they wouldn't be allowed to make in this day and age, which is... perhaps for the best?
>>96145329Fab is the king of unnecessary hate. This has gone on for half a decade. You merely adopted the vitriol; we were born in it. Trolled by it.
>>96145422>i'll thank zechs in my own way, by killing him>zechs: "that'd be fine"wing was certainly an anime
>>96145697>Heero "I'll Kill you. This is not a metaphor. I mean this. There is no clearer way of saying my intent, and I have already made at least 1 attempt.">[Relena invites him to her birthday party.]Yes. Yes it was.
>>96145704That's just a woman moment.
>>96145274You have to pay for White Base twice, once to play it and again for the token. It's worth it if you get multiple tokens out of it but Corsica is more efficient as a single play that gives you a base plus a unit for a cheap total cost.
>Nuu Zen and Enigma are all gone in CC
>NOW the mistveil boxes are finally released by the fucking distributors at a decent price
their flop fucking pokemon flipper strat sucks horse cock, good thing my store only runs BLITZ and all but jesus christ do these soul draining vampires put a damper on my day
>Gundam pre-release is $30 for four(4) booster packs
fuck that I thought it was 6
>>96145942It is near me. They're skimming you
>>96145963I'm not gonna look it up but I'm pretty sure the official event guidelines say 4 packs for the event. Now whether or not the store wants to overcharge for those 4 packs is up to them, obviously.
>>96145979ok I looked it up I think I'm talking out of my ass
>>96145907Big if true. I stopped caring about fab box prices and only plan on buying singles now.
Threadly reminder market manipulation is real, especially at the distributor level. They have laws that protect against this overseas, but in the US it's rampant.
>>96145329no one actually haves finances and bolt, the one janjan just gets super mad when you FVCKFVB so its funny.
>>96146044excuse me i really do hate fab, it wastes the player's time by matches dragging on for too long and it constantly demands to learn new mechanics that will be abandoned after one set
FUCKFAB
>>96146044>they don't havesies it, precious>they will never haves what we do janjan
>>96146044i don't even play FAB lmao. sure some of it's warranted but you gotta admit it's a bit of a stretch. just as much of a stretch to say the bottom half of a gundam card is "unnecessary" lmao.
>>96138023Is it really worth it since it can kill your own units?
>>96146271By the time this fucker hits the table, it's probably not going to matter
>>96146271you can play units after attacking, so best course is probably suicide your little dudes into big boys of your opponent, get them low or hit a shield maybe, then drop the big W to clear. It feels like G will be the "mass removal" color they are just taking it easy and gauging power set 1 as seen in whatever laugh
>>96140799 this is.
What the fuck happened?
The downfall of Duel Masters artwork needs to be studied.
>>96146543Duema has fallen
Billions must shield trigger
>>96146543Make it playable in the west dammit
>>96146703They did... two times ;)
I find it a bit weird that useful effect versions of units in the upcoming gundam set like kshatriya are also releasing alongside vanilla versions in the exact same set
>>96146745I think they want it to have a playable sealed format, not just constructed. If that's the case, then it makes sense to have vanilla stuff in the same set as useful stuff.
>>96146543Seems fine to me. Duel Masters just is.
>>96146765yeah that makes sense, i'm primarily a yugioh player so things like rotation and alternative formats are alien to me
>>96146745There's 3 versions of Kshatriya in Gundam Unicorn and they used the base model for both cards lmao
>>96146505G being anything except phat units that can fight off multiple mooks will leave me extremely disappointed
>>96146271Yes. With Heero he's an unblockable unit with stats so high the opponent would need to trade like 3 units into it to kill it. And it effectively clears the board, so good luck for them to even have those units.
>>96146745>>96146765It's to improve the flow of the pilot mechanic. If Marida only had 1 link unit, it would make her significantly weaker. Giving her 2 or 3 link units along the cost curve gives you a more even deck structure for your chosen pilots to synergize with.
They were also very consistent about making the vanilla be the cheaper version, and with less exciting art. And it's somewhat thematic too, suits typically show up several times as the narrative progresses.
I've gotten used to the FaB hate. It's how you know the game is alive.
No one even talks about Lorcana or Metazoo anymore lmao
>>96139042>what would be the incentive to not fudge your plays all the time thenThis is literally the case in the mainstream TCGs. MtG and Yu-Gi-Oh pros have notorious cheaters among their ranks and, in the latter's case, they snidely admit to cheating being a skill one must learn to perform well at the top levels. There are infamous cheaters among the pros who owe much of their success to fudging their plays in such a way that they either go unnoticed or have plausible deniability such that they take a warning at most if they get caught.
MtG's cheaters are less notorious because they tend to get struck down hard if they get caught, but Yu-Gi-Oh cheaters have a backup defense in that, by rules, if a mandatory action gets skipped or misplayed, the onus falls on BOTH players to call it out and if it doesn't get called out then you get what is called an "accepted gamestate" or, in severe cases, both players can get a warning or game loss.
>>96137950 (OP)Is dragon ball super fusion world any good?
>>96146904covid taught anyone with half a brain that 100% of people who top 8 consistently in any tcg are cheaters with how many were caught on camera being so slick if it wasnt webcam 0% chance they would be caught. tcg high level play is a fucking joke and anyone who brags about winning allot is automatically a cheater.
>>96147195>anyone who brags about winning allot is automatically a cheaterI wouldn't go that far. Some people genuinely just have more thorough game knowledge, make better meta calls, or pilot their decks more consistently. I've seen tons of losers flip their shit because they "got sacked" or said they just got unlucky when you can track every decision they made and how they didn't properly play to their outs.
There's a luck element to these games, but there are people who are just that much better than the common rabble that can't even begin to understand the finer points of some games.
>>96146846Because they can then release those as seperate cards. But as I've said in the previous thread. Give me the unhinged stuff Bandai. Give me the ridiculous Gundam shit that you keep hidden in videogames and manga. Gimme Blue Destiny. Give me the fucking Psycho Gundam Mk3 from Battle Assault 2 on the PS1. Give me EX-Sentinel (but please make it so it doesn't inadvertently destroy Green's only gameplan like you did last time) and Amakusa and Crossbones Gundam.
Give me Rhinoceros and that fucking retarded Cameraman Astray from SEED.
Give me that weird shit Bandai.
>>96147252Im talking about high level consistent tops, not some guy who did well once at a regional or ok at weekly events.
>>96147258Zeta next set and I only want one thing.
>>96147656Feels like summer time
>>96147492Yeah, there are people who are genuinely just better, but you're more likely to see "pure" winners in games with smaller player pools because the skill difference is more pronounced there. One dedicated faggot can consistently sweep a low-level/alternative game because he puts in more effort and accrues more experience by just grinding it out. You'll notice games like Netrunner had consistent top level players precisely because they were playing to a smaller room compared to, say, MtG Standard.
If we're talking about a game like Yu-Gi-Oh, then yes, most of the people who consistently win big events are cheats and sharks that shoot angles and play games of sleight of hand.
Maybe not the best place to ask but I'll ask anyway, where would be the best place to start watching Gundam if you've never seen anything?
>>96147712Sure. I don't browse /tg/ very often and just started getting into the game last week after sitting on some blitz decks I bought like two years ago but never played.
What's the low down on FaB hate? I'd just lurk more, but the board is slow and this specific topic doesn't have many threads.
>>96147931First series, if you can't stand watching 43 episode of an aged series from 1979 you can watch the recap movies instead, you really need this foundation to watch the later follow-ups and the variety of shorter series that play in the same chronology. We call this chronology UC for Universal Century, there are series that are self-sufficient and take place in their own universes and some of them are fine but I wouldn't recommend any of them as an entry point.
>>96138000I played this Gundam card game a long with a few others at a convention recently. Of them it felt like one of the more solid games. But it could have also just been the test decks we were given. How is actually constructed play?
>>96147931Depends. You can legit start with almost any modern series. Theyre all disconnected and differentish enough. Most millennials started with wing or g i see the new age people now start with ibo.
>>96147931What the other anon said, except I'd say it's ok to try an alternate universe series if there's one with mecha designs you like as all of them have their own dedicated fanbases, so liking one over UC stuff isn't too out of the ball park. That said I would steer clear of Turn A, G-reco, and G-quacks as a first time viewer; G-reco feels weird and confusing, G-quacks is fanfiction for the UC gang, and Turn A is great but is better appreciated as a bookend after watching a few other series.
>>96148196The whole game is just hoping you draw the right pilots for the gundams in your hand. Also there are trigger effects when you deal damage which is rng bullshit. Definitely not the SWU killer.
>>96148227>Definitely not the SWU killer.I think that game is doing a fine enough job killing itself lmao.
>>96147738yes Im specifically talking about big games, but as covid webcam events showed almost every game has dedicated cheaters at the top end who would probably be better served as sleight of hand magicians then childrens card games.
>>96147931Just watch a AU (alternative universe) like 00 imo. Alt a short series like 8th MS is fine even if youve never seen the original, just know war = bad. A classic with good animation thats in the UC but not as dated as 79 is Stardust Memories and they fill in all the important information anyway. I only say this because Im a huge fan of UC and it took me forever to get past the original runs dated animation even with the compilation movies.
alt just watch the Thunderbolt OVA for pure animation vibes.
>>96148071Ive only played a few times. lurking though heres the gist I get:
>people dislike that the gameplay is basically all math lines and boil it down to "i bolt u for 3, no i heal for 3" as a meme.>some hate that it is expensive for comp decks and they do things like shred promos to keep prices up or something.>mtg scrubs flocked the game early leading to annoying community>something about a guy named james whos white >a few 4chan tourists get mad at shitposting and get anons banned>shitposters shitpost twice as hard>its funnysomeone else will know more but FUCKFAB

>>96148625>>96148093Aren't the OVAs considers the official canon for 0079 now?
>>96148380Interesting. Competitive decks do seem insanely expensive, but I'm fine just playing casual blitz with people for now. I was tempted to buy some CC staples because they seem like they're evergreen and can be used for a ton of decks, but I'm not dropping like $100 per card, for a three-of, until I confirm it's something my friends and I will play for a long time.
>>96146939It's not the worst game in the world.
I enjoy it but the meta right now isn't particularly fun but that only applies to the online client, really. If you have locals you wouldn't notice it as much as people tend to play what they like instead of what's meta. If you play on the client it's fucking miserable as it's a 2 deck meta and most decks can beat one but not the other or just straight up lose to both.
>>96149043>InterestingWhat he said isn't true
>>96148971Yea, it's more central to the gameplay than you'd think from just reading the rules

>>96149706>$5 maxTry $35 max, and that's if there's reasonable product availability. Probably will be some below $5 on the low end.
>>96145942>>96145963Stores had no guidance on how t5o run sealed events when the sent the signups to bandai. Most chose 6pack since its pretty standard. THEN bandai posts that drafts are 8 packs bc they are dumb ass nips that forgot the English packs are twice as fat. like a week later they updated that bandai run sealed are 4 packs, 30 card deck, no color restrictions, can exceed 4x card. Its "guidance", stores can run the sealed however they want

>>96149706>5 maxIf you only know how ravenous people are... Bandai established ip games in the states usualy have single prices out the wazoo for the first few sets. Digimon singles used to be expensive as shit up till 5 sets in.
White blocker decks are going to be the cheapest out the door, less LR cards needed from the booster box. Wing Green deck are going to be STUPID expensive
>>96149814Except a ton of green wing decks are running the white blockers
>>96149798Starter deck LRs are only $5
>>96148380>>people dislike that the gameplay is basically all math linesThat's not really true nor is it a thing people complain about. Lots of games have math. The nature of deckbuilding itself relates entirely to math. No one has said they hate playing the game because they hate math here.
>>some hate that it is expensive for comp decks No one hates the game for that reason. They may be upset they were priced out of the game, and be mad at the wallstreetshitters ruining tabletop with their investing, but that's not a fault of the game or its creators. They release a sealed, randomized product, offering it at a competitive price. Eventually time passes, and the print runs are low enough, so things get expensive. Card legality is also very different with this product, resulting in obtuse rotations of narrow card pools. That means old cards stick around for a long ass time. What they do not do is scam their playerbase with endless premium fomo products that drive a wedge between playing and collecting.
>>mtg scrubs flocked the game early leading to annoying communityFlagrantly false. The flesh and blood community couldn't be more removed from magic's right now. MTG players are supremely abrasive towards FAB players at every store I've been to, to the point of being as loud and obnoxious for their commander events as possible to make the armory events uncomfortable. What you're identifying is that there's MTG "pros" that have come over to play FAB, and they have done so without being a determent to the community. Fabulous warriors are actually very chill and welcoming

>>96148071As a real answer/spoon feed, the hate is trolling the tryhards. The core game of FAB is good, but it's all parasitic sets with a new group of tier 1+ heroes each release, so the business model is "make serious players drop $800 on a brand new deck each quarter."
It was fun until they pushed out a bunch of go-wide cards with talents that will see a reprint in 4 years. Now it's just unapologetic whale hunting.

Some of my friends are getting into one piece to play and collect and I'm feeling the addict urge to jump in.but like I'm also feeling the gamblers urge to "make it big". I don't really fuck with one piece like that but I do fuck with League, Pokemon and a lot of the Magic crossovers. Wondering if someone can answer some questions for me
>If I specifically want some DND Magic cards (Minthara my beloved) I'm better off buying them individually then trying to fish for them right?
>I have a shit ton of Pokemon cards from my ill fated attempt at getting in when the surge happened 2 years ago. >How often are sets retired? I'm a little tempted to start buying boxes in a 1 for 1 style (1 for me to open, 1 for me to put aside) since it seems like they hold their value pretty well.
>If I want to get into the Rift bound collecting, is there value in buying character decks that have predetermined cards? Like I know some of the old Yu-Gi-Oh tins and starter decks held their value but not sure if it's worth it
What is the ultimate deck you can make using starter deck only cards in Gundam? I have 2 copies of all 4 decks.

One store tried to bypass this for the High Seas prerelease by having multiple prerelease tournaments in one month, only to get boosters into the hands of the players, but LSS stepped in and told the store that it's only allowed to hold one prerelease tournament, fuck you. Boosters are only allowed go into the hands of the scalpers.

The response to the angle sharking is the nail in the coffin for me. To only address it publicly because it became such bad press and then to have a policy be "its whatever we feel like case by case" when everyone already sees fab for what it is: a two tier system. The hypercompetitive people in their little bubble and the speculators and investors. The game is only alive because the prices being driven up by the rotten and dying core base, that the distributors in on the con then pump for the investor and sellers. But no one is actually playing at a mid or low level. And they dont give a shit either clearly about new players. Its comically transparent how the grift works

>>96164456So they traded in card bins for bank vaults. Fuck me. I guess getting special distributor deals actually does pay.
I guess Purple is going to play from the trash in Gundam. That's usually pretty fucking broken in Bandai games.
>>96164759Kinda fits IBO, I dunno how it fits with 00
>>96164759there's cards that interact with trash already
>>96164867Sure but they're all middling effects at best while purple will be actually playing shit from the drop
Was IBO any good? I watched the beginning and was interested - child slave labor, rebellion, murder - but then suddenly it was Tenchi Muyo harem anime? Does it go back to being good?
>>96165048It's one of those series that goes up and down throughout, I enjoyed it well enough.
>>96165048>was IBO any good?Depends. As nicely as I can say it. If need something that makes you feel like you're really intellectual and having your thoughts provoked when you're someone of lower cognitive ability like say a teen or like dumb... it'll blow your mind. If you've already consumed a lot of quality media doing the same thing it will feel like shit. Also the animation quality going off a cliff after the pilot and never getting any better is a letdown. It's one of the more mediocre gundam series at least. On the positive side for ACG purposes it'll have a lot of material to draw from and will probably give the game a good bump in the west with the early 20s demo
Anyone got experience with 00? The Exia card looks cool.
>>96164472Resource system like Duel Masters/Lorcana where any card counts, and taps for its color.
First player to defeat 10 Levels worth of their opponents cookies (shown in the top left) wins.
I enjoy the fact that all you need to play is the cards: no dice, tokens, or even anything to track score. It's very clean like that.
I just had three starter decks arrive in the mail today, so my only experience with it is a handful of games over tabletop simulator.
Picked it up cause the rules seemed simple enough, and my six year old cousin is interested in card games but Magic and Lorcana are still a little too wordy and complex for him.
>>96165048It's alright. Lots of potential, but the two lead writers wanted to go different directions and it lead to issues. The side materials are pretty good from what I've heard, though, and Urdr Hunt is getting something animated pretty soon iirc.
The only harems in it tho were the Turbines, who had more of a 'Guy getting women out of shit situations the smoothest way he can' vibe, and Atra's at the end iirc.
>>96165302I'll be honest but I like this. We have at one point in time had card sharks that scoop up everything in a 70 mile radius and leave little for the rest of the locals to qualify.
>>96165048No it turns to shit but for many other reasons that stems from being asretarded as humanelyposible thanks to mari okada.
I am actually enjoying the new Netrunner banlist Im sorry
Is the Witch from Mercury stuff any good? It's the main series I want to play with. Any sample lists?
Gundam prices are just ridiculous lmao there is no god damn way in hell this game is going to take off enough to justify those prices
>>96165141>I enjoy the fact that all you need to play is the cards: no dice, tokens, or even anything to track score. It's very clean like that. You have to track cookie HP right?
Honestly seems neat enough, I'll proxy it up and see what's what
>>96165571White academy is usually a second color to like blue or green. The resource restanding with suletta is interesting
2 Weeks for prerelease :)
(ignore that 2024 on the card, this is sad...)
>>96165761There's no way anyone gives a fuck about Warlords in 2025
>>96165654It's presale, but I know that supply is fucked at the moment because people are buying them out
>>96165771I'm just saying no game keeps up the hype except One Piece which was a flash in the pan.
SWU and Lorcana had strong starts and now nobody gives a shit about them and the IP behind those games is 10000000x stronger than fucking Gundam. Hell, I'm excited for the game and I find it fun but I know this is the next Bandai flop just like BSS and Fusion World I can feel it in my bones.
>>96165765Have you seen prices on Ebay (and sold lists)?
It is a solid game and if the company makes a decent job it should at least be more popular than at least one or two of the Bandai slops.
>>96165719Nope! You take cards from the top of your deck and tuck it under the Cookie - so the HP tracks itself cleanly too. When a Cookie takes damage, you flip up the HP cards cause some have effects related to that before being sent to the discard pile.
Just hope they release the rules for drafting soon, I love limited formats. Would be cool to get my cousin into them too.
>>96163321Swap the blue card out for Striker Pack
For anyone running zeon rush after the set comes out which do you think is better? 4 full frontals with 4 sinanju, or go 2 of both and have 4 m'quve?
>>96166004The former, Sinanjus are basically a win condition for Zeons rush decks so a higher chance means a better outcome.
Just need other cards to support it until it is able to come out.
>>96165777We'll see, first set always sucks ass and is very boring.
Right now, there is a huge draw power problem
>>96166026some theory lists i've seen have forgone all the sinanju package and go all in on sub 4 cost (even running angelo + geara) because i guess the plan is just put m'quve on every zeon tag and breach before sinanju would even be playable
>lgs missed preorder for gundam set 2
>set one isn't even out yet
What the actual fuck
>>96166361One Piece was like this for the first year with everything being sold out 3+ months ahead of release. Just the normal bandai retardation
>>96166361Bandai makes stores predict the hype on their game and you have to order sets 6-9 months in advance or you dont get dick
They ALWAYS do this.
>>96165927I refuse. This has more utility for my gameplan.
>>96164456So is
>>96164343 just (You) shitposting, or is it another example of retard schizos making up fanfiction about FaB and presenting it as fact?
>>96165302>>96165422Pencil dick baby boi fabgots afraid of competition as usual.
I'm sure they would benefit from a trauma informed approach.
>>96166396bandai singles are dirt fuckin cheap, dude. they'll be even more cheap thanks to the rarity distribution too.
>>96166440Yes but you'd have to watch his favorite eceleb to engage with his argument and I don't care about investor fags they can all burn in hell for being useless wastes of space. Perfect spot for them to be in a bank since new evil is moving in.
>>96164472Surprisingly original game. Core rules are simple but has a lot of room for complex decisions.
I liked it, I almost wish it was using an IP I actually care about.
>>96162466Oh hey, it's a kitty! Nice!
>>96166720>Perfect spot for them to be in a bank since new evil is moving in.This took a dark turn.
>>96165141tell your cousin to get gud
>>96165048I think its 00 and SEED tier, objectively none of those are great and they don't have the excuse of being crazy early in the lifetime of the IP to hide behind.
But I think there's legit reasons for people to have dumb fun with any of the three and if you are one of those people good on ya. There's only so many shows that are fun with giant robots so if you like one who cares if its not high brow superb quality fiction?
>>96167127That's totally fair.
But supposing I do want superb quality high brow fiction, do any of the Gundam series legitimately offer that?
>>96167202What's your point of comparison?
>>96167202Most of the universal century stuff does offer that, though you have to in with the mindset of "this was still made in the 70's and 80's".
>>96167364The original's story is a bit basic but it was revolutionary for the time where most anime was monster of the week slop
>>96167387I'm more of a Macross fan but I heavily respect Gundam for that.
Back onto the topic of the game, I cannot wait to get my Big Zam. Breach 4 and a "Fuck you" to blockers is funny.
Will FaB ever print a Bard or Merchant hero for CC?
>>96167413Impossible to say.
Their current Bard design is gay and unfun, and they just recently gave the coin manipulation slice to Pirate. On the other hand, FaB is not designed around coherent card pools with strong identities, it's designed on a hero-by-hero basis and card types are 70% vibes. At any moment they might turn around and release either class with next to no foresight or care.
For better or worse it is impossible to predict.
>>96167446A shame. I got excited when I opened a pack and saw a merchant hero for blitz. With the gold, silver, and copper tokens, I figured they'd have at least one merchant in CC and then I saw they have song cards for the one (two, technically, but one's a promo hero) hero in round the table and that's it.
I doubt they'll actually ever make a bard in CC given that Pleiades is coming out and she's like a performer Guardian.
FAB feels like it should be an ECG/LCG.
>>96167495Don't get too upset about those Song cards. It's just an arbitrary subtype and there's very little unique bard feeling in the current design. Really I think it's worse for the future of a hypothetical full-fat Bard class that those exist than PleiadesNUTS lmao gottem. It was a rush job for the sake of an experimental muliplayer product that sucks ass.
Of course, I'm not very well aligned with the design sensibilities of LSS or the majority of FaB fans, so nevermind me.
>>96167654KILL YOURSELF WE NEED MONEY
>wake up
>check my mails
>Japanese import site has restocked on Gundam TCG
>already gone by the time I check
>Ebay seller who sod a few English displays for a good price and ran out restocked
>but now he's selling for 60 euros higher
Why do I have to hurt myself with stupid hobbies?
>>96165654It's fucked on supply, like every game launch that's in DOA. There's nothing mechanically unique about LR so the game will be cheap for players once supply stabilizes. Like SWU, except by a company that's better at making chase alts. Sealed product pricing is just whales and scalpers and FOMO.
>>96165571>>96165749Yeah, it's okay, there's some Suletta+Amuro B/W decks that seem solid.
>>96167903I'm a mailman IRL and I always make sure to cringe the fuck out of people who are getting tcg stuff imported from Japan (it says on the customs packaging what it is) by pretending to know just the barest amount of mostly wrong knowledge about tcgs and calling everything Pokemon.
How is it that every tcg ever is always out of stock but this isn't reflected in lgs attendance?
Yes yes, scalpers. But scalpers need people to fleece.
>>96168224TCGs are built on FOMO.
LCGs not so much.
>>96168119>pretending to know just the barest amount of mostly wrong knowledge about tcgs and calling everything PokemonBased
>>96166953Yes, she's a promo in the $15 Purple Starter deck.
>>96167040This is the start of the pipeline that'll lead to that... hopefully.
>>96168224games being all tied to existing IPs have made everything have a Pokรฉmon-like collector focused economy with tons of people just wanting to have binders full of their dudes but never playing and the collectors market has gone loopy now everyone has been tricked into thinking owning pretty cards is also an investment and eventually all their alt art goobers will totally be the next base set Charizard
its scalpers selling to wannabee scalpers in an endless loop
>>96166164>draw power problemWhat do you mean by this? Last time I played competitive Warlord there were decks that could draw their whole deck by turn 2 (sometimes turn 1).
Card draw is broken in Warlord, and it is already a game that every turn you may draw as many as 5 cards at the default draw phase.
>>96167387>Immediate response is from the episode where Gundam became monster of the week slop where they just started throwing at them random Mobile Armours every week because they were easier to animate.I concede the initial point, but Kek.
>>96168224Players represent a tiny fraction of tcg buyers and weekly lgs players tinier still. It's probably 1%
>>96168552It got cut down by 7 episodes so the last third is rushed
FaB reminds me of those Roguelite card games
>>96168981Okay. Explain away how that's the case
>>96168981Like Slay the Spire, aka video games?
I'd be interested in the opposite though: A physical card game that's played by 8 people, you play 3 rounds of best of three turns in a swiss format, and you build upon your deck as the tournament progresses. That might work better as a boardgame though.
Feels bad being stuck in the MTG/YGO/OnePiece sloppa trio. No one wants to play good games/
>>96169096I think One Piece is the best of those 3 right now but the issue is it's fucking boring and just spinning the same effects forever
>>96167226Needs Gyan, if you don't want to rely on rare pulls, Gelgoog is amazing. Link with both Char and M'Quve helps draws not suck as much and its stats are great for a 2 cost.
Zanzibar is good for aggressive base playing for card draw from shields and still shitting out a guy (like Gelgoog).
Drop the Zaku Mariner and 2/2 Zaku II. The only one dorks I've really liked in playtesting are the 1/2 Zaku II since it can threaten EX Bases and maybe Dopps for fixing draws somewhat.

>>96168994All you do is play cards that arent permanent
>>96165777Game is much harder to get into and play than bandaislop, with no IP to bring people in. And the company has done fuck all in the last 18 months to hype it or bring in stores and players.
I hope I'm wrong - I backed it back in early 2024 - but I don't see this going more than 2 or 3 sets before quietly dying.
>>96170477Ah, I see. While I get what you're trying to say that's an incorrect surface-level observation of the game. Fab's had permanents since the beginning. Heroes that specialize is boardstate building are actually really powerful and meta defining.
>1 LGS only allowing 3 pack/person first come but msrp
>1 LGS 1 box/person $225 scalp price
>2 LGS sealed event only, sold out
Im growing tired of gundam already.
>>96169199True. The upcoming rotation is especially insulting in that game btw. The design space there is so limited there that they will probably rerelease the exact same fucking cards with the most minor of tweaks (if at all) because they're gone due to the rotation. Time to buy it again, you disgusting pieces of shits!
They will probably lose a lot of players to that bullshit when the rotation will hit.
>>96170889We fucking warned you all. Dumbasses choose to ignore the warnings half a year ago.
>>96170889Set 1 will be a shitshow just like all bandai games.
>>96170973Probably not, lots of One Piece enjoyers are slop enjoyers as well, they wont notice.
>>96171019>>96171012Im aware its just every tcg Ive been interested in lately has been like this and im thinking of taking the board game pill.
>>96171183An inbetween always exists
>>96171183>>96171319if you just wish hard enough for it
>>96170832Roguelites have that too
>>96171319I'm really hoping for an english version
Altered's fourth set dropping in October that will introduce a new hero for each faction.
With the POD and Marketplace in action this set will hopefully be the big push this game needs.
At the very least qualifiers for worlds are happening throughout the coming months.
Anyone here play it, I'm assuming not since it's not in the thread list.
>>96171602>Altered's fourth>fourth>fourthFOURTH??
>>96171183just take the LCG pill. all the good of TCGs, none of the bad.
you have to find opponents, but that's true of boardgames too.
>>96170889Mine which are 1 pack/person at MSRP for people in the event. Other LGS are all ~$200 if they allow you to buy at all and one is $175, 1 per person only.
The MSRP LGS announced it and their event signups just maxed out instantly.
>>96171382Gonna be real with you the analogy makes no sense. Those types of games are built as you play them and are never repeated rather than sticking with a build over the length of your career and tweaking and specializing it for the long haul. The analogy starts and ends with cards are played from your hand that come from a currated deck.
>>96171319>>96171325What game?
>>96171183If you have friends board games are better than TCG's, TCG's are for people with no friends
>>96171610Yeah 3 Sets a year is their goal, always surprised so few people here talk about it.
I've been playing it weekly at my LGS and it's an enjoyable time.
It hits a lot of the vibes I enjoyed from Keyforge but without the main drawback and with actual deck building.
>>96171319>>96171325I'm so glad Gundam cards don't look this busy.
>>96169515You can feel like, even in the animators room they were just like... "Fuck it." when it came to that thing.
>>96171319God I hate life cloths
>>96171880>>96170889four of the locals near me cut preorder to 1 box @120
IF you play in an event you get first dibs at buying another. Two are also not selling everything immediately so they can keep prizing support through set 1.
meanwhile another local LGS sends all of their employees to the ghetto target to snatch up pokemon restock
If you have GD01 cards you are a fucking loser, simple as.
>>96167202honestly i think RahXephon, Escaflowne & the Macross OVA's would be my big mecha picks
but
>>96170216 this is a good list for sure
I'm gonna have to ask my locals if they're adhering to bandai's rules for the booster set event cause we're running it 2 weeks in a row for some reason. Not being able to play a proper constructed deck for 4 straight weeks is gonna be really annoying if that's the case
>>96172190Trinity Draft. Draft focused 3 player LCG. Got crowdfunded for about 240k, who knows if it ever goes international.
>>96172967>Draft FocusedWoah, cool. I'll keep an eye out for it. What kind of TCGs is it similar to?
